Kindness is the unmatching penance

'O' heart!
Do penance! Do penance!
If you do penance, you can achieve
Whatever you like, in this universe;

Nothing is equal and better than kindness,
Kindness is the unmatchable penance,
People who are kind to everybody
Live for ever gladly and happily'

The Pirate Of Penance

Penance crane:
The pirate anchored on a wednesday
And why he came to port I wonder
To see a lady so my friends say
She dances for the sailors
In a smoky cabaret bar underground
Down in a cellar in a harbor town
I know he told her love was treasure
And they would reap the fullest bounty
He only comes to port for pleasure
So when the winds of morning
Blew the curtains in she woke and found hed gone
I saw his sails unfurling thursday dawn
The pirate he will sink you with a kiss
Hell steal your heart and sail away
The dancer:
Saturday early we met in the cove near the forest
Penance:
Hell leave you drowning in the flotsam of a broken promise in the bay
The dancer:
(dancing we wakened the dawn and the birds into chorus)
Penance:
He came again to see her
Yes I think they told me it was saturday
The dancer:
(ask penance crane she was out in her garden she saw us)
Penance:
I was at sea then
I didnt see them
I dont believe what you are saying
It isnt true I hardly knew him
Is this some game that you are playing
Go ask the dancer shes the one who saw him last
The one who drew him here
He hasnt come to me since spring last year
There was a time when he would
Bring me silks and sandalwood and persian lace
The dancer:
(then came another goodbye and another please dont go)
Penance:
And he would hold me close
And tell my sailing stories by the fireplace
The dancer:
(all night I dance and all day I keep watch with my sorrow)
Penance:
I was at sea I tell you I was
Nowhere near the mentioned murder place
The dancer:
(searching for sails that dont come
And I guess but I dont know)
Penance:
Go ask the dancer
She knows the answer
The dancer:
I dont know
Penance:
She knows the answer
The dancer:
I dont know
Penance:
She knows the answer
The dancer:
I dont know

Your Holiness The Autumn Season!

YOUR HOLINESS, THE AUTUMN SEASON!

Hey, Autumn Season!
Who has banished you to this incognito life?
Or is it a self-imposed exile
From the Festivals of the Earth?
Why so much detachment?
Don't you develop any liking for the life?
Is life's burden so unbearable?
Shedding all your Leaves mercilessly
You stand in discreet silence
Displaying your bones unashamedly!
Every season in a unique style
Decorates itself, don't you know?
Haven't you learnt that art, why you alone?
Don't you have any desire of your own?
Do you prefer only this saintly life?
For what is this punishing penance?
For how many more days
Would this harsh penance last?
Let me watch! Beware!
When the 'Maid Spring' makes her appearance
Adorning the musical anklets that speak 'galeer galeer'
At her every graceful steps,
To the accompaniment of the songs
Of the forest Birds calling in chorus,
And to the rhythmic beats of the Cascades
And begins her delightful dance in tune with all,
When the cool Breeze casts its web on all
With its swooning spells-
How could your severe penance survive,
O, Your Holiness, the Autumn Season!

Sign Of The Cross

Eleven saintly shrouded men
silhouettes stand against the sky
one in front with a cross held high
come to wash my sins away

Standing alone in the wind and rain
feeling the fear that is growing
Sensing the change in the tide again
brought by the storm that is brewing
Feel the anxiety hold off the fear
some of the doubt in the things you believe
Now that your faith will be put to the test
nothing to do but await what is coming
Why is then God still protecting me
even when I don't deserve it?
Though I am blessed with an inner strenght
some they would call it a penance
Why am I meant to face this alone
asking the question time and again
Praying to God won't keep me alive
Inside my head feel the fear start to rise...

They'll be saving their prayers when the moment comes
there'll be penance to pay when it's judgement day
And the guilty'll bleed when that moment comes
they'll be coming to claim

The safest and most suitable form of penance seems to be that which causes pain in the flesh but does not penetrate to the bones, that is, which causes suffering but not sickness.

Three conditions are necessary for Penance: contrition, which is sorrow for sin, together with a purpose of amendment; confession of sins without any omission; and satisfaction by means of good works.

Rain Water and It's Harrvesting

Water is the basic need
For all, irrespective of type or creed
Animals and plants of any breed
Thrive on this essential liquid feed

Bhagirath, our mythology says
Sits on a penance and prays
For Ganges to set her grace
On earth to make it a heavenly place

Ganges water descends for common good
The human race gets enough food
All other needs of a livelihood
And all living things plunge into a merry mood

Similar is the situation when it rains
This heavenly nectar cures all our pains
For each raindrop, which is for our gains
There is a Bhagirath among us on penance

Rain is indeed a hard earned wealth
Shows righteousness to be in good health
We will be fair and do way with matters of filth
So that it rains for days in a year one fifth

We need to create means to harvest
This natural gift, even if to invest
As its storage will prove its best
When sun turns harsh and the rains resist

Rain water harvesting shows our wisdom
We will face water shortage seldom
And it paves way for freedom
From wars waged on water in the kingdom

The Elegy To Autumn

Silence will not be the form of you in me
at the edge of fate, we scream
the last sigh of our exiatence.
The veins of trees are visible
devoid of leaves, as if free of all pretexts.
No where to go, blissfully it stands
as the last penance of our outcry.

(Humility Poem) A Gift

I'm just giving it to you
Take it, don't you argue
Don't make a offer, or a promise something you can't repay.
As friend I don't need or want anything.
As family the love means so much.
With no penance I don't feel I have to.
It just is a want, to feel good about myself.
To say I helped, to say I was their.

The superstition defined

To believe in God is not superstition.
To belief God is superstition.
To believe that your penance and sacrifice
Would bring you fortune or relief
And that you are rescued is superstition.

Preachers stay back

Penance is a good means to reach the God.
Surrender and relinquishment are likewise.
Preachers thus advocate and man follows.
Man might reach the God and preachers stay back.

The Cornfields

The cornfields rise above mankind,
Lifting white torches to the blue,
Each season not ashamed to be
Magnificently decked for you.

What right have you to call them yours,
And in brute lust of riches burn
Without some radiant penance wrought,
Some beautiful, devout return?
