Preachers stay back
Penance is a good means to reach the God.
Surrender and relinquishment are likewise.
Preachers thus advocate and man follows.
Man might reach the God and preachers stay back.

Preachers Of The Night
See the gates of hell and theyre still bleeding
Creatures of the night are creeping out - so proud
Ill be there once more to feed them
More and more theyre sneaking in my mind - so strong
All in all nothings left behind
Cannot hold it back this dark desire
Dont turn your head or youll be dead
The good have gone to ground - you know why
Preachers of the night - theyre calling
Preachers of the night - there will be no tomorrow
Preachers of the night - Im falling
Preachers of the night - they want me back
Touch the gates of hell while theyre still bleeding
Tearing at my soul and watch it weep - so raw
You better back off
My mind is not my own take heed then
All evils been unleashed within us all - so war!
You better back off
All in all nothings left behind
Cannot hold it back this dark desire
Dont turn your head or youll be dead
The good have gone to ground - you know why
Preachers of the night - theyre calling
Preachers of the night - there will be no tomorrow
Preachers of the night - Im falling
Preachers of the night - they want me back
Deal me out - Ive had enough
Trading in the kingdom of te beast
Step by step - not far behind me
Flesh and blood will never rest in peace
All in all nothings left behind
Cannot hold it back this dark desire
Dont turn your head or youll be dead
The good have gone to ground - you know why
Preachers of the night - theyre calling
Preachers of the night - there will be no tomorrow
Preachers of the night - Im falling
Preachers of the night - they want me back

Don’t Grow Preachers
Preachers have no mindset to serve.
Workers have no mindset to preach.
Workers, not preachers, run the world.
Don’t water and grow the preachers.

Son Of A Preacher Man
(john hurley / ronnie wilkins)
Billy-ray was a preachers son
And when his daddy would visit hed come along
When they gathered round and started talkin
Thats when billy would take me walkin
A-through the back yard wed go walkin
Then hed look into my eyes
Lord knows to my surprise
The only one who could ever reach me
Was the son of a preacher man
The only boy who could ever teach me
Was the son of a preacher man
Yes he was, he was, mmm, yes he was
Being good isnt always easy
No matter how hard I try
When he started sweet-talkin to me
Hed come and tell me everything is all right
Hed kiss and tell me everything is all right
Can I get away again tonight?
The only one who could ever reach me
Was the son of a preacher man
The only boy who could ever teach me
Was the son of a preacher man
Yes he was, he was, lord knows he was
How well I remember
The look that was in his eyes
Stealin kisses from me on the sly
Takin time to make time
Tellin me that hes all mine
Learnin from each others knowing
Lookin to see how much weve grown
And the only one who could ever reach me
Was the son of a preacher man
The only boy who could ever teach me
Was the son of a preacher man
Yes he was, he was, oh, yes he was
He was the sweet-talking son of a preacher man
I guessed he was the son of a preacher man
Sweet-lovin son of a preacher man
Ahh, move me

Smokin The Hive
I was ten years old on my grandpas farm when it happened
After all these years I can still hear grandpa laughin
As he applied that barnyard remedy
He passed his wisdom down to me
You dont reach for the honey without smokin the hive
I remember my first crush was on the preachers daughter
We were smoochin on the front porch swing that night when he caught her
We werent expectin him home until quarter past ten
When the good lord taught me that lesson again
You dont reach for the honey without smokin the hive
You dont point your pistol before you check each chamber
And you dont drink no you dont drink when you drive
Its just ordinary common sense to avoid that danger
You dont reach for the honey without smokin the hive
She rolled into town with rodeo, she was a beauty
And that cowboy saw you wink at her,she was a cutie
The sound of jinglin spurs caught me dead on a run
He was fit to be tied and you were under the gun
You dont reach for the honey without smokin the hive
Chorus.
No,you dont reach for the honey without smokin the hive
Youre gonna get stung boy

By smart work you drive and reach.

Surrender
Will you tell me
All your secrets
Could you really be sincere
Whisper all your inhibitions
The things you most fear
Dont turn away
I want to get to know you in the worst, worst way
Come back baby come back
Come back baby come back
Come back baby come back
Surrender su-su-surrender to me
Surrender su-su-su-su-surrender
Surrender su-su-surrender to me
Surrender su-su-su-su-surrender
Will you show me
All your treasures
That wich is most near and dear
Share with me your
Prized possessions
Not just some souvenirs
Dont be afraid
A little tiny bit can go a long long way
Come back baby come back
Come back baby come back
Come back baby come back
Surrender su-su-surrender to me
Surrender su-su-su-su-surrender
Surrender su-su-surrender to me
Surrender su-su-su-su-surrender

Preachers Daughter
[opens very soft and slow, to the tune of mona/shes the one]
I got a date with the preachers daughter
She give me life she bring me water.
Every sunday I watch her work
Pretty little (siff? ) in a pretty little church
Daddy gives her nod she takes collection
Daddy gives her nod she kneels by her side.
Well Id sell my soul for just one touch
The lord would too if he loved her half as much.
Well I got a date with the preachers daughter.
Her daddy say that the boys no good
Just want to raise some (coons? ) out through the back woods
Well baby better believe what your daddy say
Just wanna ramrod baby my life away.
Its a long walk to heaven and a road filled with sin
And they better open up the freeway to let me in.
cuz I got a date with the preachers daughter
Well now I dont care what the preacher say
Haaaaayyyy
[identical to haaaaayyyy, mona]
Well now I dont care what the preacher do
Haaaaayyyy
I dont care what the preacher like
Haaaaayyyy
I dont care what the preacher think
Haaaaayyyy
Leads me to water but wont let me drink.
He leads me to water but wont let me drink.
(big man)
[maracas start, music picks up, bruce starts yelling]
And now its (whole little world? ) on saturday night
Two boys fighting in a halo of light
Car door flung open and a radio loud
And everybody shouting and running around.
Two guys bloody and one I dont know
And all little girls shouting go billy go
Go billy go.
Well just as I got the preachers daughter ready for a light
And (missed a vh fire? ) and something aint right.
And like a she-devil howlin from the gates of hell
Goddam here come the preacher in his coupe deville
Burnin up the backroad kicking in the dirt
And oh baby preacher thinks he is church
Well now your lips they shine in the willow mist
And I swear Id take you down (young croft? ) for just one kiss
I got a date with the preachers daughter
I got a date with the preachers daughter
And its haaaaayyyyoooo
I got a date with the preachers daughter
Hmmmmm...

Scared Of Yourself
Album: One-Armed Bandit
Track: 02
You reach for pain
you reach for fear
you reach for everything
but nothing ever comes your way
And I'm not lying
And you always complain about the way I behave without you
And last night I had a dream
about it
And it's very hard to stay faithful
to a dream of you
CHORUS:
Think about the lies
that we told to each other
we never bothered
What a big surprise
that you're scared of yourself
and alone all again
You reach for me
you reach for us
you reach for everything
but nothing ever comes my way
But you
you are nothing but a state of mind
from the start until the end
CHORUS x 2

Out Of Reach
Every day just seems so long
Every minute that I'm here without you
Will tomorrow ever come
Will I ever get a chance to feel you
I need you so much
You're out of reach
You're out of reach but you're so close
I hear you cough I feel you fall
But you're out of reach
Another room I can't hide
Another night without you here beside me
Cause I don't want to fake it
I'm just trying to make it yeah
I need you so much
You're out of reach
You're out of reach but you're so close
You're out of reach
You're out of reach but you're so close
You're out of reach
You're out of reach but you're so close

I And Dentify
Love, Suffer, Patient, Kind
And never bow - jealousy
Earth, Selfish, No angry
No memory won't, separate my wicked ways
Reach for the sky, Don't let it get away
I & Identify - This is what love is.
Reach for the sky, Don't let it get away
I & Identify - This is what love is
Gentle, Purified, Stay true, Protection
Always trusting, Continue hoping,
Conquer, never fail
Reach for the sky, Don't let it get away
I & Identify - This is what love is.
Reach for the sky, Don't let it get away
I & Identify - This is what love is
This is what love is
This is what love is!
Reach for the sky, Don't let it get away
I & Identify - This is what love is.
Reach for the sky, Don't let it get away
I & Identify - This is what love is.
Reach for the sky, Don't let it get away
I & Identify - This is what love is.
This is what love is.

Entertainment
Where I grew up the landscape was flat, the sky wide
and Christianity, demanding. The nearest village didn’t
have a cinema but sometimes a travelling preacher
came along and the meeting hall was full.
They were good the old preachers, spoke about sin,
forgiveness and the saving of the soul. Many cried
came up to the podium spoke of their many sins and
was forgiven, many came it was a good meeting.
Our neighbour was there being saved, the farmer
told me that he was always saved but it didn’t last
long, he tended to look embarrassed for a few days,
then he was back being his old sinful self.
The farmer’s wife, Alice, stirred restless in her seat,
her eyes shone she wanted to get up there and
confess her sins; I still wonder what sins that might
have been? But the farmer, Torvald, held her back.
Back at the farm Torvald had a dram his wife sat near
him, and at milking time next morning she was half
an hour late, said she hadn’t heard the alarm clock;
the farmer didn’t get up before breakfast at eight
Yes, they had warm, caressing voices the preachers
of old, and sometimes they thundered about sin till
we deliciously shivered, and when the collection box
went around we kindly gave more than old buttons.

Because we employ no professional preachers, it means that every sermon or lesson in church is given by a regular member - women and men, children and grandparents.

Higher Ground
[Originally by Stevie Wonder]
People keep on learnin'
Soldiers keep on warrin'
World keep on turnin'
Cause it won't be too long
Powers keep on lyin'
While your people keep on dyin'
World keep on turnin'
Cause it won't be too long
I'm so darn glad he let me try it again
Cause my last time on earth I lived a whole world of sin
I'm so glad that I know more than I knew then
Gonna keep on tryin'
Till I reach my highest ground
Teachers keep on teachin'
Preachers keep on preachin'
World keep on turnin'
Cause it won't be too long
Oh no
Lovers keep on lovin'
Believers keep on believin'
Sleepers just stop sleepin'
Cause it won't be too long
Oh no
I'm so glad that he let me try it again
Cause my last time on earth I lived a whole world of sin
I'm so glad that I know more than I knew then
Gonna keep on tryin'
Till I reach my highest ground...Whew!
Till I reach my highest ground
No one's gonna bring me down
Oh no
Till I reach my highest ground
Don't let nobody bring you down (they'll sho 'nuff try)
God is gonna show you higher ground
He's the only friend you have around

More Words
Sometimes words reach out
to help heal wounds.
Sometimes words reach out
just to claw at a feeble soul.
Sometimes words reach out
to seek help.
Sometimes words reach out
to bring life to idleness.
Sometimes words reach out
to expose a lie.
Sometimes words reach out
to undress from its truth.
Sometimes words reach out
for it needs to be spoken.

Determined Mind
Goals are something we set ourselves,
each and everyday.
Sometimes we reach them,
other times we won’t.
The ones that seem impossible
we will reach them one day.
For nothing is impossible
no matter how much
we tell ourselves it is so.
With a little determination,
we will reach those goals,
no matter how high.
We will make them possible
the harder we try.
Someone once said
man would never fly.
The proof is in the pudding,
just look up in the sky.
And why did it happen?
It happened through the thought
of a determined mind.

Reaching God
I want to reach God
Could I reach with pray
Could I reach with people
Or will I only grasp an empty void
I want to reach God
Should I hang on my hope
Should I hang on my work
Or will I put my soul into sacrifice
I want to reach God
It seems the words become ashes
It seems the world becomes dust
And I turn to another hypocrite man
I want to reach God
Maybe I'll never really catch even a feather of wing
Maybe I'll never really get the meaning
But my heart always looking for something more
I want to reach God
My body maybe sated by the joy of earth
My mind maybe conquered by the pleasure of power
But inside nothing else could fill this hunger
