Seagull
Seagull you fly across the horizon
Into the misty morning sun
Nobody asked you where you are going
Nobody knows where you're from
Here is a man asking the question
Is this really the end of the world
Seagull you must have known for a long time
The shape of things to come
Now you fly through the sky
Never asking why, and you fly
All around til somebody shoots you down
Dadadada da da da down mm mm mm mm mm mm
Now you seasgull you fly, seagull you fly away
And you'll fly away today
And you'll fly away tomorrow
And you'll fly away, leave me to my sorrow

A Seagull Flying On A Dimming Horizon
just that, what do you have to say more about it
just that
a white seagull flying towards a dimming horizon
a ship sailing away
the sun receding towards the other side
deep down the sea and then gone
just that, do not ever say that the seagull is heading home or running away
that is not so, there is no basis for such a personal conclusion
or just another imagination of your own loneliness by
association of that
white seagull flying towards a certain darkness
the ship turning to a dot dissolving on a horizontal line in front of you.

Like Thunder (Flag Remix)
If I was a flag I'd have no nation
Just the colours and the wind
And if I was a church I'd have no treasure
Except the prayers and the hyms
And if I was a seagull I'd just rise up
And carry my soul across the sea
Drifting beyond the horizon
Lost by the ground to be free
If I was a life-boat I'd be waiting all my life
For another stormy day
And if I was a dolphin I'd be playing all the time
Just playing my life away
And if I was a kite I'd just be laughing
And dragging you up to the sky
Setting you down on a white cloud
While a seagull's floating by
And the silence roars like thunder

Autobiography Of A Seagull
the mother of course is a white seagull
who made love with a seagull
one springtime
when all the snow have turned to sea
and there were ten eggs
i am the fourth to hatch from among the ten
hardheaded shells
all my siblings love the fish and the sea
and the breeze
except me
all the while, i want to be human.

Speed
rising from oneself
to the highest
sky
alone flying and
diving
and those who
watch
thought that this
is plain nonsense
for that seagull
may finally shatter
its bird's head
to a rock
it is not as simple
as that
the seagull has
learned the trick
of smashing itself
on the water
like a rocket
with a fuel at
its back
to speed to art
to life!

A journey begins with first step! ! ! ! ! ! ! !
Oh great warriors
Of yore
Sages of folk lore,
Could you tell me
Why do I feel vanquished
In the face of victory?
Had no aspiration to build
Great empires,
Or enlighten
The ignorant.
Just a small aspiration
To be free
And protest against
Pressure of
Conformity…
On being released,
from captivity,
Stood dazed in front of
Open cage,
Like a bird
Who has forgotten the
Instinct to fly
Looked skyward:
Jonathan Livingston Seagull
Soaring high…
Jonathan Livingston Seagull by Richard Bach is a fable in novella form
about a seagull learning about life and flight.

everything has been concealed
for years
i have lived with the pigs
in the mud
and ate the left-over foods
of our masters
but then today
i feel the feathers growing on my side
i have strong wings
my claws are pushing in my feet
no longer hoofs
and hair
the wind from the sea
breaks the truth it brings
on my beak is the break
once upon a time a seagull lost an egg in the pigsty
unaccounted
i was that egg
i am a seagull now
to the full
of my potentials
goodbye brother pigs now i must fly away to the farther seas
to the higher skies
my destiny

Garden Wedding
Bees were working the lavender
as a seagull flew in blue sky
red rose's perfume did wendan
the air scented breeze wafted by
Young couples prim in their proper
the elders stood off to the side
Photographer posed as poser
the beauty in beholders eye
Bees were working the lavender
as a seagull sang in new sky
the bride shoes rose color purpleness
her groom stumping rose white, near nye
Bees kept working the lavender
A seagull flew swiftly far sky
yellow rose dress bride surrendered
To her white knight with kiss, near fly
Ignored. (a Seagull Story)
Ignored. (A seagull story)
At the seaside restaurant it was busy everyone was eating lobsters,
I tried to catch the waiters’ eye. I was ignored and got the feeling
that I was Invisible, or that I was so small that my head didn’t reached
over the table. A seagull landed on my table a beautiful bird,
yellow beak and feet, plumage snowy white its wings light grey/blue
and its eyes were green; it also had the aroma of the Atlantic Ocean.
Waiter came, looked at the bird asked what it wanted, lobster, I said
when the dish came I gave it to the bird. Got up, left and no one tried
to stop me.

A Diamond
A Translation for Robert Jones
A diamond
Is there
At the heart of the moon or the branches or my nakedness
And there is nothing in the universe like diamond
Nothing in the whole mind.
The poem is a seagull resting on a pier at the end of the ocean.
A dog howls at the moon
A dog howls at the branches
A dog howls at the nakedness
A dog howling with pure mind.
I ask for the poem to be as pure as a seagull’s belly.
The universe falls apart and discloses a diamond
Two words called seagull are peacefully floating out where the
waves are.
The dog is dead there with the moon, with the branches, with
my nakedness
And there is nothing in the universe like diamond
Nothing in the whole mind.

One Day
People will touch and talk perhaps easily,
And loving be natural as breathing,
And warm as sunlight;
And people will untie themselves,
As string is unknotted,
Unfold and yawn and stretch and spread
Their fingers;
Unfurl, uncurl, like seaweed returned
To the sea.
And work will be simple and swift
Like a seagull flying;
And play will be casual and quiet
Like a seagull sitting.
And the clocks will stop, and no - one
Will wonder or care or notice.
And people will smile without reason,
Even in the winter
Even in the rain.

Ocean Breezes
Seagull’s updraft ride
Over beaches glide
On breakers, seals slide
Wily crabs, in coral hide
Calm today, wild tomorrow
Ocean does what oceans’ do
Temperament of joy or sorrow
Salty cauldron of marine stew
How beautiful the Sea
God’s gift to you ‘n me
Earth’s pregnant womb
For some a watery tomb
To the Sea be humble and mild
She's thy Mother…you her child

The Clairvoyant
The Clairvoyant
Over a cold Nordic coast a seagull flies and sees
the bay between the island and the coastal town.
40 minutes each way by ferry. It’s an old gull and
has a blind eye and one leg; yes, you are right,
a real pirate I used to know years ago, it knew me
too when I was a cook on that a ferry boat, sat on
the mast and waited for me to throw scraps of
food into the sea shrieking harshly, it is the gulls
way of wishing me well.
This year has no ice in the bay, there was a time
when the ferry was icebound islander folk had to
walk on ice across to get to the shops, they still
do [there is a bridge now,) ferry been sold and
is plying its trade on the delta of Bangladesh.
The day is clear I’m a seagull and can see the past
lucid as the day it is lucky that I can’t see the future,
but there is a name that warms my heart: Falluja.
The down trodden, the raped, took up arms and
fought the mightiest army the world has seen and
won a moral victory that one day will bring peace,
to Iraq. I’m not a seer, but the old pirate is, flies
beside me now and harshly shrieks, it is the way we
seagulls greet each other.

gray shoreline
light blue sea
at the end dark blue

shadows of trees
on the other side

There Is No Sense At All
just like you i sit on a rock beside the raging waves of the sea
some salty water spattering on the foreskin of my head
turning into crystal under the hot sun of March
i think of the falling leaves from the trees of an old forest
i recall the sound of the hush of their departures so much like
the constant leaving of the waves that come and then go on the shore
there is this drifting so common among us that we are no longer
distinguishing one from the other
all things taking so many similarities and then someone is lost
with no difference
the seagull lonely in its flight towards a distant island
is just like any other seagull singing its lonely song within its feathered body
the man remembering and hearing again the old songs of love broken
shattered pieces of self trying to resemble again an old self
is just any man on the street looking for something he can hold
perhaps for a lifetime, he picks up something and tries to make a difference
a pebble from other pebbles, a cellophane sheet landing on his hand from
the air and looks at it against the sun. Something flimsy and so trivial.
He throws it away and continues walking along the lonely streets at night.
There is no one there. There is nothing there. Something unknown still.

Breadfan
Breadfan, open up your mind, open up your purse
Open up your vault, never, never gonna lose it
Breadfan, take it all away, never give an inch
Gotta make a mint, gotta make me a million
Breadfan, you got it wrong, some long time friends
Gonna lose it in the end, whos a fool
Seagull, give it all away, stay a bird, stay a man
Stay a ghost, stay what you wanna be
Loser, give it all away, never stay with the winner
With the man with all the filthy money
Come on, keep it on the side, with a ride on a record
On the top if youre gonna be a bad boy
Breadfan, you got it wrong, some long time friends
Gonna lose it in the end, whos a fool
Seagull, give it all away, stay a bird, stay a man
Stay a ghost, stay what you wanna be, yeah
Breadfan, open up your mind, open up your purse
Open up your vault, never, never gonna lose it
Breadfan, take it all away, never give an inch
Gotta make a mint, gotta make me a million
Breadfan, you got it wrong, some long time friends
Gonna lose it in the end, whos a fool
Seagull, give it all away, stay a bird, stay a man
Stay a ghost, stay what you wanna be, yo

I saw something of it
I saw something of it
in the morning sunrise
on Clifton beach
and a bit was part of the rushing surf
and it was in the aquamarine sky
and in the green colour of the sea
and somehow the white seagull
had some of it,
but fairer still
was the blonde topless girl
that smiled at me.
