As Things Awake

The crimson hues of morning call,
its fingers touch some but not all.
The golden orb on the horizon wake
intensifies the morning skies.
We watch in wonder
at the beauty of a dawning day.
Soon the quiet of early morn
will be shattered as things awake.
Enjoy the moments of tranquillity
as from the eastern horizon
the morning does wake.

Sunday Morning

(reed, cale)
Sunday morning, praise the dawning
Its just a restless feeling by my side
Early dawning, sunday morning
Its just the wasted years so close behind
Watch out, the worlds behind you
Theres always someone around you who will call
Its nothing at all
Sunday morning and Im falling
Ive got a feeling I dont want to know
Early dawning, sunday morning
Its all the streets you crossed, not so long ago
Watch out, the worlds behind you
Theres always someone around you who will call
Its nothing at all
Watch out, the worlds behind you
Theres always someone around you who will call
Its nothing at all

Birth Of A New Day

The beauty of the morning
is at the crack of dawn,
when the fingers of the sun
spread out across the sky,
to welcome the birth of a new day.
As an early riser, I am always in awe,
at the stillness and the beauty,
of each new dawning day.
At the quiet moments,
before the world awakes
to take the quiet away.
The flowers unfold their petals,
damp with the morning dew,
to face the warmth of the rising sun.
Little birds stretch a leg
in their nest high up off the ground,
before they winging off
to find their breakfast
under the new morning sun.
While sleepy heads lie in their bed,
miss this wonderful display,
of the birth of a new day.

Early In The Morning

Early in the morning and I cant get right
Had a little date with my baby last night
Now its early in the morning (early in the morning)
Well its early in the morning (early in the morning)
Now its early in the morning
And I aint got nothing but the blues
Went to all the places where we used to go
Went to your house but you dont live there no more
Now its early in the morning (early in the morning)
Well its early in the morning (early in the morning)
Early in the morning
And I aint got nothing but the blues
Went to your friends house but she was out
Knock on your fathers door and he began to shout get out there boy
Early in the morning (early in the morning)
Early in the morning (early in the morning)
Early in the morning
And I aint got nothing but the blues
Went to doogie chain to get something to eat
Waiter looked at me and said you sure look beat
Now its early in the morning (early in the morning)
Early in the morning (early in the morning)
Well its early in the morning
And I aint got nothing but the blues
Well its early in the morning
And I aint got nothing but the blues
Well its early in the morning
And I aint got nothing but the blues

The Morning Sad

Wake up and talk to me
Its a long time since last night
I know we said things, the saddest things
And Im not sure it was wise
When the mornings sad
You dont look back
And you sure dont look ahead
The morning sad
You know, the morning sad
The morning sad
Never had it so bad
Never had it so bad
Im writing desperate songs
While youre fast asleep inside
I could try to sing
(I could try to bide my time to wake up)
Until it rings
But my voice comes out uptight
When the mornings sad
You dont relax
Youll be ? ? ? your mind
The morning sad
You know the morning sad
The morning sad
Never had it so bad
Never had it so bad
I tried a little
I tried a lot
Im not a window
And youve seen through everything Ive got
Oh, I dont think that Ill be safe
Until everyones awake
Everybody, everybody, everybody, yeah...
So wake up and talk to me
Such a long time since last night
I know we said things, the maddest things
And Im not sure who was right
When the mornings sad
You wont attack
Cause youre much to weak to bite
The morning sad
You know the morning sad
The morning sad
Never had it so bad
Never had it so bad
Never had it so bad
Never had it so bad
Never had it so bad
Never had it so bad
Never had it so bad
Never had it so bad
Never had it so bad
No...
Never had it so bad
Yeah, yeah, yeah...
Never had it so bad

Will You Be There

I'm lying beside you just thinking about us
Too tired to go to sleep and too much in love
I know i'm crazy but i can't close my eyes
I'm scared you won't be there in the morning when i rise
Will you be there?
Who do you dream about are you alone in your sleep?
To who will you reach out?
Oh, let it be me
Oh baby, you're my obsession, my addiction, my drug
Don't want to be without you when i wake up
Will you be there in the morning, will you be there when i want you?
Will you be there when i wake up, oh i need you to be there in the morning
Will you be there?
Well, you're so close to me but i feel so alone
The more i touch you the more i want
Don't know what to do about me loving you but i pray to god that you feel it too
You're my obsession, my addiction, my drug, so let the candle grow into a great fire of love
Will you be there in the morning, will you be there when i want you?
Will you be there when i wake up?
I need you to be there in the morning!
I wanna love you forever,
Don't want a love that's now or never
Can't you see you got me down on the floor.
I want more more!
Will you be there in the morning, will you be there when i want you?
Will you be there when i wake up?
Will you be there in the morning?
Will you be there?

When dusk creeps through the windows

When dusk creeps through the windows
with the big old oak tree etched against the sky,
the eastern horizon gleams outside,

the morning star hangs is a beacon that bridges the night,
while the golden moon fades away
with the big old oak tree etched against the sky

the night is driven away, chased
by the sun rising burning
while the golden moon fades away,

the morning is fresh like an unfolding flower
while the birds, the insects, the animals are woken
by the sun rising burning

with blinding white light, stretching out its rays
and I am getting awake
while the birds, the insects, the animals are woken

and the day has already belted its gleaming chord.
When dusk creeps through the windows
and I am getting awake
the eastern horizon gleams outside.

Morning’s Glory

Dawn breaks the stranglehold
of a sleepy dusky night.
The sun peers above the eastern horizon
as morning begins to break into full glory.
Flowers open their petals wide
to allow the warmth inside;
birds leave their roosts
to wander the sky.
The morning’s glory soars
on delicate golden wings
as the early birds begin to sing.
Morning’s glory looks down on all
awakening with sleepy eyes,
preparing them to go
through a brand new day
that starts with the morning’s glory
and the sun shining bright.

An Early Morning Departure...

when i wake up
this morning
the door is half-open
i did not touch
it
something in its
rough feel
still hurts my
fingers

someone i love
so well
left me before
i could see her
face again

it was her
who touched that door
very early
that morning

it is departure
that i felt and that
which i cannot
touch again

Morning Star

Little star you’re the last one
we see in the skies
as the morning starts to rise.
The last one to go to fall asleep
as the sun begins to wake.

Morning star as everything yawns a sleepy head
you smile before going off to your bed.
You are not the wishing star
whom everyone wishes upon
hoping their wishes will come true.

Morning star you’re the last one to go to sleep,
but the first one to greet us
as we wake in the morn
when a brand new day is born.
You’re the star we forget about,
but the first one we see each day.
You are always there
to greet us as we get out of bed.

Henry David Thoreau

The Inward Morning

Packed in my mind lie all the clothes
Which outward nature wears,
And in its fashion's hourly change
It all things else repairs.
In vain I look for change abroad,
And can no difference find,
Till some new ray of peace uncalled
Illumes my inmost mind.

What is it gilds the trees and clouds,
And paints the heavens so gay,
But yonder fast-abiding light
With its unchanging ray?

Lo, when the sun streams through the wood,
Upon a winter's morn,
Where'er his silent beams intrude,
The murky night is gone.

How could the patient pine have known
The morning breeze would come,
Or humble flowers anticipate
The insect's noonday hum--

Till the new light with morning cheer
From far streamed through the aisles,
And nimbly told the forest trees
For many stretching miles?

I've heard within my inmost soul
Such cheerful morning news,
In the horizon of my mind
Have seen such orient hues,

As in the twilight of the dawn,
When the first birds awake,
Are heard within some silent wood,
Where they the small twigs break,

Or in the eastern skies are seen,
Before the sun appears,
The harbingers of summer heats
Which from afar he bears.

Dawning Is The Day

Rise, let us see you,
Dawning is the day,
Miss, misty meadow,
You will find your way,
Wake up in the morning to yourself and leave this crazy life behind you.
Listen, were trying to find you.
Flow to the sea,
You know where to go,
Still we are free,
No one tells the wind which way to blow.
Wake up in the morning to yourself,
Open your eyes and start to be you.
Listen, we think we can see you.
Baby theres no price upon your head,
Sing it, shout it.
Now the angry words have all been said.
Do it, dont doubt it.
So rise, let us see you,
Dawning is the day,
Miss, misty meadow,
You will find your way,
Wake up in the morning to yourself, open your head and look around you.
Listen, we think we have found you.

Morning

Morning creeps into the window
Its golden fingers touch the sheets where we lay
Morning wraps its arms around me
And whispers in my ear it was all yesterday
Morning you're lying here beside me
But somehow now the night feels
So many years away
And it's morning

Bend & Break

when you when you forget your name
when old faces all look the same
meet me in the morning when you wake up
meet me in the morning then you'll wake up
if only I don't bend and break
I'll meet you on the other side
I'll meet you in the light
If only I don't suffocate
I'll meet you in the morning when you wake
bitter and hardened heart
aching waiting for life to start
meet me in the morning when you wake up
meet me in the morning then you'll wake up

In the White

In the white, early morning
I hang my face
over her head
and kiss the flesh above her brow.

I hang my neck, a bow in the air
and kiss the tiny, tickling hairs above her brow.

In the white light of morning
I hang myself over her
and kiss the flesh of her skull

Her white skull
sleeps in the early morning as I hang myself
to kiss her.

I hang myself to kiss her
as she sleeps in the white, early morning.

She does not wake to my touch.

I hang myself above her
on the white bow
of early morning.

She does not wake to my hanging.

The window is cracked and taped.
The outside air is cold, forceful.

I bend myself
above her sleeping body
to kiss her, gently on the brow.

To kiss her gently on the brow
I hang myself.

Some Days

Some days are good,
some days are bad,
and some are in between.
We never know which day we’ll have,
until the hidden dice is rolled.

One morning we wake to sunshine,
one morning we wake to rain,
some we wake to be a bit of both.
However, whatever we wake up to,
just be thankful that we wake up.

Dead!

Hush! or you'll wake her. Softly tread!
She slumbers in her little bed.
What do I see? A coffin! Dead?
Yes, dead at break of morning.

No, no, it cannot, cannot be!
I know that I can wake her. See!
She only plays at sleep. Ma mie,
Kiss me, for it is morning.

Look, pretty, look! Within, without,
Snowdrops and hyacinths lie about.
Why don't you clutch them with a shout
Blither than birds of morning?

You used to clap your hands with glee,
When I brought flowers. ``Are these for me?''
Now, now, you neither scent nor see
These incense-buds of morning.

Do you not know me, pet? Speak! speak!
There is no answer in her cheek.
To find her now where shall I seek?-
Seek in the vanished morning!

What can I do to make her heed?
I am crying, love; I am indeed.
Open your eyes and see. What need
To tease me all the morning?

Look! We will sally forth and play;
Ramble, and never ask our way,
Lessons and tasks all put away,
As though it were not morning.

We will do all that you desire,
And I will never, never tire
Of romping with you by the fire,
When 'tis no longer morning.

Your favourite tales, oft told before,
I'll tell you, darling, o'er and o'er;
It never shall be bedtime more,
Will you but wake this morning.

I will not ask you to sit still;
You shall be naughty when you will;
Shall spill my ink and spoil my quill,
And squander all my morning.

Alas! Alas! it is no cheat!
Quiet she lies from face to feet!
No smile, no sigh, no hue, no heat,
No earnest of the morning.

Draw high the sheet above her head.
She liked it, so. Dead? No, not dead.
The angels, hovering round her bed,
Will greet her in the morning.

Better Not Call

Just when I wake up baby you call
You're driving my mind up the side of the wall
I gave you my best now I'm beggin' you please
I'm not in the mood to see you on your knees
Sayin' you won't run on the street again
Sayin' you will come runnin' back again
Sayin' you won't buy on the street again
Sayin' you will come runnin' back again
Chorus:
But you better not call me
You'd better not cry
You'd better not wake me up in the morning
Just a telling me lies
No you had better not call, oh
I used to call her
Call, oh
I used to call her
Just when I'm knocked out, and baby you call
I look in your eyes and you're not there at all
Sayin' you won't run on the street again
Sayin' you will come runnin' back again
Sayin' you won't buy on the street again
Sayin' you will come runnin' back again
Chorus:
But you had better not call me
You'd better not cry
You'd better not wake me up in the morning

A New Day Dawning

aaa new day dawning

i wake up in the morning to see the
beginning of a new day dawning
some days are bright while others are dull
but regardless of the weather
i thank god for such a sight
the daylight penetrates the darkness
and soon it will be light
birds begin chirping in a nearby tree
while others are soring over the sea
while looking at the morning sky
i see the sun penetrating the fog and dew
a duck quakes in the cove
i see the fog lifting off the water
and the water begins to ripple from the morning
breeze
i am content and thank god for giving me the
pleasure of seeing a new day dawning
