SHAER(couplets) in hindi/urdu are the couplets which express the feelings of love, sadness, joy, affection and different other emotions in a beautiful poetic way in just two lines. The following couplets(from my book Sab Rang/2010) are posted in hindi alongwith its english version. English translation is posted bringing out the essence of the couplets.
??? ?? ?? ? ?? ????? ??? ???? ????? ??
?? ????? ?? ?? ??? ???? ?? ????? ??? ???.
(Kuch bhi to na tha hamare beech siva pyar ke
Bus logon ko to baat karne ka bhana mil gaya)
Nothing was physical in our love
relationship left tongues wagging.
-----x------
???? ?? ? ?????, ????? ????? ?? ????
?? ?????? ?? ????? ?????? ?? ??.
(Hoti thi na guzar, hamare deedar ke bina
hum paunche to nazaren churane lag gaye)
Ever waiting eagerly for my appearance
when confronted, she tried to glance away
------ x-------
????? ?? ??? ???? ?? ?????, ???? ???? ?? ???
???????? ??? ?? ????? ?? ??? ?? ??????.
(husn ke paas jane se phele, uska shabab to dekh
noasikhiya hua to yunhi aag mei jal jayega)
Beauty is fire, flame its youthfulness
Novice if you are, will burn your fingers.

A Relationship
Love likes not
showing off relationship
smile on face or tear drops,
both make my heart rip.
Ever waiting eagerly
for her appearance
when confronted,
mind becomes an hindrance.
Comes like a fresh air,
away she goes a hurricane
tolerate she will not,
me going great pains.
Yet, loves me so much
as a princess of yore
always cursing the boat,
can not navigate to shore.
Nothing is physical
in our love
wagging tongues
all hand in glove.
Beauty a trap and
love being a cage
Wonder! gets entangled
even a sage.

Threesome(Conversational couplets)
Converse in Couplets is
stanzaic, written in any number of couplets.
syllabic, all lines are 11 syllables.
rhymed, aa bb cc dd ee ff gg etc.
a conversation between at least 2 voices.
Threesome
Blow into my heart to soothe much as you can
For summer is too hot burning much to tan
Wait o'land I'm already in the process
Moved moist to breeze and cool the best in excess
Do it soon o' breeze more and more for I'm parched
Get cooled from the ocean to dab my space scorched
O'earth, wait, up I'm pushed to get the clouds grouped
They will hide the sun, rain will then calm us coped

Green Couplets 02 Touchy Composition
Between two cotyledons— plant grows with a bud!
With two lines— couplets come into flower with an idea.
Sometimes, two lines may be more powerful than two hundred lines.
Small verses like couplets are really beautiful.
They speak and touch with peace— as Poems for Life.
Couplet— I
Watering rain on the leaves
Orchid plant mutely sleeps
Couplet— II
Under the pillow raining night
Memory coins may or might!
Couplet— III
All green buds grows yellow
Plant or animal must follow!
Couplet— IV
Shooting stars proclaimed that
No one ever will be mate…
Couplet— V
How the moon came into being
The way fishes sleep and sing

Liberation Seeker
The following poem is the translation of my hindi poem Mumukhshu from the book Sab Rang
.--0-
Twentieth century
at the fag end of life
standing & waiting
to turn into history
still in two minds
thinking what to say
and to gift
twenty-first century
on its birthday.
Nuclear holocaust & nuclear proliferation?
warning on depletion of ozone?
class and color struggle?
devalued or hollow speeches
on environmental degradation?
or
the human race
which has lost its sense
in the murky world of
separatism, terrorism & extremism
playing into the hand of cancer, AIDS and drugs
yet wearing a mask of humanity and concern
weeping for fellow human beings.
Suddenly
twentieth century smiled
an aura surrounded it
springing new hope
why? why?
after all why?
twenty-first century be birthed by it
why it shouldn’t allow 21st century
to stand on it own foundation
let 21st century build itself de-novo
without the crutches of 20th century.
So without notice
20th century found solace into oblivion
into time and history
allowing 21st century to emerge
with a new dawn
liberation seeker
waiting to liberate itself
from its previous deeds

The Barren Fancy
THE BARREN FANCY
by Muhammad Hameed Shahid
She said;
'Our love is static...
And stagnation
Breeds putridity'
From this fancy's rib
Was born the eve of novice desire
Why then should we not,
Alter our roots.
And...
Now that
In consequence of this separation,
Putridity emits its vapours,
It is proved
That the seed of fancy
Has been infertile
Since pre-eternity
(English rendering from Urdu by Bashir H. Nazim)

This is a symbolic poem whose roots go to the Eden where Adam and Eve first lived and the word 'fancy' has many meanings to relate. The last punch lines can be conceived as situational considering the putridity. Welcome Hameed Shahid! !

--------------
Love can't be stagnant and it can't emit vapours
'She' has captioned her emotion as she prefers.
Then whats it, which can cause an intention to even alter the roots?
The poem clearly talks about that subject and its repercussions.
Love is not complicated whereas lust is.
Good read indeed... Thank you for this post, dear poet.

Lamenter
My feelings may not be peeped into
sufferings have made me their companion
words may not find the tongue
deserted me, have my expression.
Alienated you make me feel
a wound that will never heal
ditching me, did not affect me as much
your distrustful nature made my heart to seal.
A dropp of blood torn apart
Why? O beloved! You became treacherous
Who is at fault? moan the beats of heart
I should have died than bear indifference.
Appearance of comet brings bad omen
falling stars betraying my emotions
lightening that struck me in open
can’t endure with unreserved patience.
Whenever the fate ordain us to meet
never will complain, for I have you loved
expression will find no words to tell
feelings will remain unexpressed.

Awareness poem in Hindi by Deepak kumar deep
Sadiyon se khamosh ye dharti
Pata dhoondh rahi hai insanon ka
Kash! Kahin koi mil jaye
Kya shahar hai ye veerano ka?
Dhadhak rahen hai dil par hoth hain band
Iltaza hai kuch kahne ki
Par! sari nakam koshish
Mai chala gaya tha mudon ke shahar me
The naam wahan gude huwe sunhare patthron par
Wo bebas the, chilla rahe the,
Ro rahe the apni lachari par
Zuban na thepaas unke, kuch kahne ko
Kyonki wo bebas the lachar the……
Jane laga jab wahan se main
Pukar rahi thi wo sari lashen mughe
Chilla chilla kar kar kah rahi thi-
Mat banna aise, jaise the mere karm
Yaad kar un baton ko, aati mughe abs harm
Banna tha jab narm mughe, huwa main narm
Andhvishwashon me ghira tha mera apna dharm….
Jao jakar bata do unko
Meri tarah hi unka hoga haal
Maine ta umernahi ki bhakti, sirf kiya dikhawa
Jo bana aaj ka sawal
Maine apna waqut gawaya, duniyawi such ko pane me
Shareer ko sajane me,
Imarte banana me,
Danga fasad karne karane me
Par zara bhi na diya dhyan
Manav jeevan sawarne me.
Murakhta aur pagalpan ki bhi had hoti hai
Maine samay ke satguru ko nahi pahchana
Sirf libas dekha, shaklon par dhokha khakar
Har yug me maine mara taana.
Main bhi kitna badnaseeb tha
Manjeel mere karib tha
Phir bhi daud raha tha paglon ki tarah
Wo waqut bhi kaisa ajeeb tha.
Khair! Min to apne kiye ki bhugat raha hoon
Par jao jakar kahna un ghamandi, ahankari, papai,
durachari, anachari, Vyabhichari, atyachari logon se
Kyon kar raha hai apne aap se gaddaari.
Kar le apne aapki pahchan
Kaun hai tu? Kya hai tera asthan?
Mat kar mat kar itna abhiman
Jana padega ek din shamshan
Jag me rahegi ek dastaan
Aur bhul jayenge tughe naadan
Mubarik hai tera achha khan paan
Neend se apne jag re Insaan
Main bhi teri hi tarah hi nadani kar baitha
Par tun na kar!
Ja satguru ki sharan
Kar de apne aapko arpan
Fir dekh! Tu yahan nahi aayega
Aur na hi churashi me jayega
Tun to seedha rab me mil jayega
Tera jeevan saphal ho jayega
Jakar mil le NIRANKARI BABA JI SE
Jo mufat me baat rahen hain gyan
Iss gyan ko pakar
Sewa simran satsang karke
Bhakti Ki dritha pa le
Phir dekh! Tu bhi Ram, Krishna, Gurunanak
Kabir, Tulsi, Hanuman ki tarah amar ho jayega
Jakar dekh satguru “deep” jala raha hai
Andhera mita raha hai
Savera la raha hai
Tub hi jag ja, jag ja

Shabaab (YOUTH)
Waqt ki andhiyon me udta ek khwab hai,
Zeest ke nisab ka ek haseen bab hai,
Jahan ki taqaton ka jo bus ek jawab hai,
Han yahi shabab hai, han yahi shabab hai.
Dagmate hain qadam antheron aur ujalo me,
Fans ke rah gaya her shakh husn ke sawalon me,
Zikr hai tera subh o sham ishq karne walo,
Chalte hain rahon me bus apne hi khayalo me.
Her qaum ki azmat ka wo jo ek nishaan hai,
Her inqalab ka jo hai dil aur uski shaan hai,
Rah-e-haq me badhne ko yun to her ek qurbaan,
Hai Khuda ko bhe fakhr agar aya koi jawaan hai.

You Have Cast Me Off
I was the only one,
Who caressed your all wounds;
I was the only one, my Love!
Who with pens of my lashes,
Time and again, wrote thousands
Of couplets on your conversing eyes;
And on the land of your heart
Placed I thousand of the reflections
Of faithfulness.
Speak!
Who gave you life against the wish of death?
But what have you done?
Have You cast me off too?

Kake-Jisku Ghazal
Nature’s seams of seasons en plein air sur terre
orbit of harmony en plain air sur terre
Primavera, our eyes rise for your coming
long distance traveler en plein air sur terre
dallying with each stroll through the country side
genesis/life’s rebirth en plein air sur terre
Summer you burn away our sins of passion
fire dances hovering en plein air sur terre
vaporizing our dreaming/hazy vision
twisting, rising prayers en plein air sur terre
Autumn shedding all our leaves multicolored
final ashen harvest en plein air sur terre
Mother Earth’s savoring charms ceasing to flow
all the seasons sucked dry en plein air sur terre
sun laying its head on a cold snow pillow
hiding all the seasons en plein air sur terre
Winter/what better time/tell us your secrets
in white we will be clothed en plein air sur terre
petal offerings/revolving festivals
kaki-jiku hanging en plein sur terre
that we be cleansed in your blanket of meanings
purifying rituals en plein air sur terre

* This is a Ghazal. The following explanation is quoted from poets.org from the Academy of American Poets. “A Ghazal is composed of at least five couplets - - and typically no more than fifteen - - that are structurally, thematically, and emotionally autonomous.. Each line of the poem must be of the same length, though meter in not imposed in English. The first couplet introduces a scheme, made up of a rhyme followed by a refrain. Subsequent couplets pick up the same scheme in the second line only, repeating the refrain and rhyme in the second line with both lines of the first stanza. The final couplet usually includes the poet’s signature, referring to the author in the first or third person, and frequently including the poet’s own name or a derivation of its meaning.”
“Traditionally invoking melancholy, love, longing, and metaphysical questions, ghazals are often sung by Iranian, Indian, and Pakistani musicians. The form has roots in seventh-century Arabia, and gained prominence in the thirteenth-and fourteenth-century thanks to such Persian poets as Rumi and Hafiz. In the eighteenth-century, the ghazal was used by poets writing in Urdu, a mix of the medieval languages of Northern India, including Persian. Among these pots, Ghalib is the recognized master.

Money animal
razor sharp cannines
that can tear through
the toughest frame
and legs that can run
faster than any animals
and the jaguar falls into
a physique to become
a jaguar and not a man
the god writes couplets
for souls to choose
what they would love to be
a brain that can be
worked to do wonders
but his legs, his hands
his phsiques are no match
for even a horse
a permanent home for cover
he carries his house here, there and
everywhere, his food in the streams
and rivers and the soul thinking of
only an ever ready house plunges for it
to be our slow walking turtle, tortoise
two wings to fly away from attacks
a voice to mersmerise the world
and the field for food and the soul
plunges into them to be eagles, thrush
and sparrows to carry our fantasies to fly
poor soul, the mind
that could do wonders
thrown to the winds
poorer still, the soul
who plunges into a man
who then chooses
to carry a flag that shouts
money above all else
and there an animal
runs here, there, everywhere
for the papers he thinks
could fly him everywhere
buy home, buy food,
they buy almost anything
couplets written by his
own homo sapiens
the mind that can do wonders
now lies like other species
getting a lot less than they should get
if only this poem will wake
up that mind to let the man
realise he is more than a money animal
a limitation he imposes on himself
a gravest short change

Kash Kabhi Aisa Hota
Kash kabhi aisa hota
Teri justuju me meri khusi na hoti
Tum bolti aur mujhe sunne ki kwahish na hoti
Tum khamosh hoti aur mujhme bebasi na hoti
Kash kabhi aisa hota…………..
Tum naaraz hoti aur mujhme manane ki bekarari na hoti
Tum paas hoti aur mujhe kahin jane ki kwahish ho jati……….
Tum dur jati aur mujhe paas na aane ka istaqlal ho jata..
Kash kabhi aisa hota…..
Teri khushi me meri jindagi na hoti
To tum bhi azad ho jati………….
Meri har betuki bato se
Alhar swalo se.., namuraad jwabo se…..
kash kabhi aisa hota
