Bigtime

Hey dragged up my holly and I pull it to a town for the bigtime
Hey rig down the road I tore 'em down I'm a bigtime
I wheeled right in them swinging doors
Out through the window with half of that store
Everybody stopped and roared here comes Bigtime
Lemme grab me a bottle when I bit off a tap cause I'm bigtime
I do a 90 miles an hour in this speedin' trap and that's bigtime
I rolled up the telephone pole and then I kissed 15 women fought 16 men
I thought I'd start over again for another bigtime
And then a cop come up he said I see you've been enjoyin' quite a bigtime yeah
But you got to pay for what have been destroyed Mr Bigtime
I told that cop you better cut right out
Cause you're a little bitty man I'm a great big trout
I swung at him and the lights went out on my bigtime

Hey here I am coolin' in the country slam and this is the bigtime
The judge didn't believe how imprtant I am he gave me bigtime
And in the bunk above me there is a poor tempted soul
He shot his wife cause she sneezed untold
Hope he didn't catch cold here in the bigtime
Hey when I get out I can have it made I could be bigtime
Vause my safecracker buddies wanna teach me the trade in their bigtime
I thanked them kindly but I told them no when I get out I'm gonna take it slow
A cup of hot chocolade and a late late show will be my bigtime
Yea cup of hot chocolade and a late show will be my bigtime

Bigtime Operators

Well, they told me to come on over
I made my way to new york
And they tried to have me deported
Stop me from getting work
Blacklisted me all over
They were vicious and they were mean
They were bigtime operators
Baby, on the music business scene
Oh, they looked like politicians
But underneath they were thugs
And they spread malicious rumours
Threatened to have me busted for drugs
They had nothing on me
Oh man, I was really clean
But they were bigtime operators
On the music business scene
They put a bug in my apartment
To listen in on my calls
I was looking for some motivation
I couldnt find any, any motivation at all
They were very desperate people
Riding in long black limousines
But they were bigtime operators
On the music business scene
They were glorified by the media
They were heroes who had names
They said that they would bury me
If I didnt play their game
They said I didnt know the score
And that I was young and green
They were bigame operators
On the music business scene
Tried to hold me to a phoney contract
I said I didnt agree
Had to get out of the clutches
Had to go underground you see
Now Im living in another country
But I know exactly just where Ive been
Stay away from bigtime operators
Baby, on the music business scene
Well, baby bigtime operators
On the music business scene
Oh baby, bigtime operators
On the music business scene
Well, full of names and places
Baby, you know who I mean

'The bigtime for you is just around the corner.' They told me that first in 1952 - boy, it's been a long corner. If I don't hit the bigtime in the next 25 or 30 years, I'm gonna pack in the music business and become a full-time gigolo.

0368 Post-modern Irony

With all the excitement of a Florentine writer around 1480

who can bring to a lifetime's experience

Nosehopper

You are right, Nosehopper...
I am no Langston.
Or a Maya do I choose to be.
Nor a Nikki, Amiri OR Muhammad Ali.
And I admire them with all my heart.
However...
My name is Lawrence.
And I intend to play a major part.
I have my own way of saying things.
With a taste of tomorrow!
And what that offering brings.
Following behind someone's footsteps...?
I ain't never did.
Like they never used AIN'T ever in their language!
And I ain't all over the place...
Bigtime!
You are right, Nosehopper...
I am not like them at all!

'What's a nosehopper? '

Somebody in other people's business.
Like you.
Who try to discourage their efforts!

Plenty to scorn, well right on! then you said in a song that life was
Gettin real tough, but hey I think that youre bluffing, what of it?

Now two decades gone by and I know thats a long time, para tiempo means
Nada nunca. cause Im still the same asshole and I still wet my pants
Every time that I see your face (who are you? )
Introduce yourself (right on!)

Certain Things I Am Learning To Perfect

Can I stop what you 'think'?
No.
Of course not.
I hope I am not showing any intention,
I believe I can do such.
However,
I can be opinionated when asked.
And I am doing my best to leave that activity,
In my past.

But...
I can avoid listening to you,
Bigtime.
You will vanish in thin air,
If I put that in my mind.
Lock you out,
Quicker than a lover I had undercovers.

There are certain things I am learning to perfect.
With a mastering of forgiving myself,
BEFORE I experience regret.

For example...
I 'use' to be the kind,
To express 'first' what entered my mind.
Then experience deep regret...
For using the wrong curse words!
Out of context.

Now...
I can ignore anyone,
Without feeling any remorse at all.
And understandings someone may have,
To be misunderstood...
I can leave behind as if nothing happened.
As if anything I wished not to exist,
Doesn't for me anymore.

And those who have gotten on my last nerve.
With irritation and repeated annoyance?
Are privileged to get a taste of it!
Keep in mind...
I haven't reached perfection yet.
But I am determined to keep practicing.

Stay right there!
I'll show you how it works.
Pray that I am successful.
Okay?

Here I go!

Reluctantly Seeking

In a world in which many have spent,
Fortunes to keep themselves deluded...
And so many more kept drugged on fantasies,
With preferences to numb their heads...
To remain comatosed as if in sleep.
It is apparent and not overwhelming at all,
To witness people like this craving to be comforted...
By myths more valued than realities that exist.
While dismissing those with abilities to assist.
As they highlight with neon their ignorance.

Although the price paid to keep them deceived,
Has dug a hole so deep people slowly awakening...
Have reluctantly begun seeking to find anyone,
Willing to erase and re-write...
The most recent events in current history.
That will not place too much emphasis,
On those in positions...
'Assuming' they were born with superior intelligence.
But discovered to be incompetent!
And completely out of their minds.

'Perhaps our methods that have been decades expressed,
Became misinterpreted and overshadowed by our intent...
To address our desires to always include everyone,
Without exception.
To reflect a greatness that embraces all of our endeavors.
We have 'always' maintained that in our actions and beliefs.
Our policies of inclusiveness are heartfelt and deeply meant.'

~They lost the last election.
Didn't they? ~

Bigtime!
How can you tell?
Is it possible you could depict them with 'some' sincerity?

~I am not that imaginative.~

Viva La Difference

Folks do not know what is going on!
They don't.

Walking around with their heads hanging down.
In slow belabored shuffles.
And taught to fuss in muffled cusses.
Only to become audible,
To rave and rant...
About their pitiful lives lived,
Struck by bad luck...
Like ducks struggling to wade,
In stormy seas.

With unpaid telephone and cable bills,
Left to weight upon their burdened shoulders.
Hoping not to be disconnected,
For fear fresh gossip...
May be prevented to descend on their desperate ears.
Leaving them with a life peering from windows.
As if a death sentence has been given.

Folks do not know what is going on!
They don't.
From Sunrise to Sunset...
A belongingness,
From them has gone.

And as I witness,
Their treasured pitifulness.
I remind myself...
How close emotionally,
I am to this!
Or WAS.

Folks do not know what is going on!
They don't.

'And...
Neither do you! '

Oh...
'Contrare'!
Deliverer of misundertanding lip.
And giver of narrow insight!
I 'pretend' I do!
Okay?
The chocolate is in the pudding.
Live and let live.
That's 'my' motto!

Viva La Difference...
Homey!
Viva with a La...
And a 'diff-er-ounce'.

'Ooooh...
Oui oui.
N'est pas?
Merci beaucoup.
Parle vous français?
Je m'appelle Victor.
Et vous, mon ami?
Hmmm.
Tous et moi...oui oui? '

Say WHAT?
I know you did not just say that to me?
What?
What do you take me for?

'What are you talking about?
We need to learn how to love one another.
Get close.
That's my approach.'

You done cross the line now, buddy.
Let me say this to you...
And make it clear!
You and my 'wee wee'
Aint gon' happen!
You got that?

'Huh? '

Oh, huh, hell!
You better get outta my face before I call the police.
You homosexuals are all over the place 'assuming' stuff!
I got preferences...okay?
Amigo?
Now buzz off!

'You got problems? '

I got problems?
I got problems?

'Bigtime! '

Don't you wish your soul was larger? (Advt.)

You were born with a little pink soul.
That didn’t seem to matter for your first ten years or so.

Then you started to compare it with what
other boys had swinging for them…

and of course, how girls were different,
but managed in their own private way…

then you discovered girls, bigtime. Well, for you, smalltime...
They didn’t mind the modest size of your soul, at first;

then they started giggling together, and
favoured some other guy like crazy

since it got around that he had a huge swinging soul
and knew just how to use it.

Now you’ve got a partner, and she doesn’t say anything
because she knows you’re very sensitive about this

but secretly, she wishes you had a larger soul…
and there’s your very handsome neighbour

who advertises by the way he dresses, carries himself
that he’s well-endowed in that department…

watch out; she may feel that she deserves
spiritual satisfaction from that guy

who sure spreads it around, from what
her girlfriends tell her…

Now I’m here to tell you –
There’s a cure. Several cures in fact.

There's using weights for it.. that’s
sometimes called hatha-yoga in Indian circles.

There’s the vacuum system – empty
your mind; that’s called jnana-yoga.

There’s the traditional method –
play with it a lot, get the bloodstream on your side…

love it and all it stands for, that's
called bhakti-yoga.

Or there’s patches – like, say,
Church once a week…

A personal soul-massager can be expensive;
depends if you can keep up the urge to work;

But now, there’s tablets – easy, discreet,
available at any bookstore, or by post.

So which method would you prefer?
You surely can’t doubt your need by now – for

every boot-up brings reminders on the net
of just how tiny is your wee pink soul (how do they know...?)

Let’s give your soul a friendly name – say, Richard –
Ricky, Dicky, Rick, or Dick…

If you don’t believe this e-mail from a stranger,
ask your partner if she wouldn’t prefer

the deep and stirring, long and oh so frequent,
confident strutting you with your huge swinging soul..

or ask your soulmate: we’ve called him Dick:
wouldn’t he like to be a monster size?

be the talk of the neighbourhood,
get that special glance from all the hottest chicks?

And remember – in a few more years of this spamming,
and what is monster size now, will be standard issue then…

And by the way, we do a special junior version for your kids
but present law doesn’t allow us to advertise this…

(The Junior Patch comes in three styles: skin-colour; disguised
as Band-Aid; or with our bold and trendy logo - best ask Junior first...)

give your kids a bigger start in life…
it’s what all parents want…

Try our seven-day introductory course today –
you’ll be amazed, insatiable…and so will she…

We’d quote you at this point, the glowing testimonies
from satisfied and greater souls, hymning loud Our praise…

but I guess you know just how they’d read..

Its Too Late To Change The Time

[intro]
Too late
Too late
Too late
[verse 1]
In this automatic age
We shop through the yellow page
Gone is the corner store
There is a supermarket there for you
People give way to change
But feelings remain the same
[chorus]
And its too late, too late to change the time
Well its too late, too late to change the time
And its too late, too late to change the time
But its not too late (too late) to change your mind
[verse 2]
Its a new day, a new age
A photograph just taken, is ready one minute later
Cars are bigger and better
But the manufacturers sastified never
In a world full of crime
I cant let you think thats right
[chorus]
And its too late, too late to change the time
And its too late, too late to change the time
And its too late, too late to change the time
But its not too late (too late) to change your mind
No, no
[bridge 1]
So you wanna be a star (so you wanna be a star)
You are who you think you are (ah think you are)
You dont have to go further
Than my loving arms
[chorus half]
And its too late, too late to change the time
But its not too late (too late) to change your mind
[bridge 2]
Are you sure you wanna go to new york city (new york city)
Where girls make it big if theyre pretty (if they pretty)
Let say you get that penthouse view
But whos gonna love you the way I do (just the way I do)
[chorus]
Its too late, too late to change the time
And its too late, too late to change the time, no
Too late, too late to change the time
But its not too late (too late) to change your mind
Yeah, yeah, yeah
[chorus]
Its too late, too late to change the time
Its too late, too late to change the time
Ooh, too late, too late to change the time
But its not too late (too late) to change your mind
Yeah, yeah, yeah

She Said

She said she's lost
She moved to Manchester to find herself
But I can't find her in this frost
She said she wanted more than a friendship
But less than a one night stand
And that's why we spoke while sitting
She said she lost an ex boyfriend
I told her I didn't wanna play pretend
Wouldn't be a faker
There's one bullet in the gun of a relationship
And I'm not that much of a risk taker
My selfishness repeated itself
It told me your not a first aid-er
She said there would be no other him
So I told her... I'm not him
She blamed herself
I watched her while she stopped herself from crying
It was too awkward to help
Two, just the two of us, can make it if we try
yeah right, I told her I wasn't gonna lie
I might look like it but I'll never be that guy
That guy who is there to care
There to help any tears that fall
To make them all evaporate into the air
There to take away the dirt like a disgusting stain in a chair
Sew it up like a tear
Make it bearable to sit together
She said she didn't like the Manchester whether
Yet she moved here with the intention to live, whatever
All the alcohol is doing is killing the senses
I told her I didn't wanna know her business
I don't even know my neighbors business
Because I don't like to sit on fences
I lay on top of her, her legs were open
I told her I meant this
Conversation followed by kisses that were endless
She said she just wanted to speak
Do you want me to leave? Yeah that's what I asked
She was forcing me to be a stranger
it was like I was masked
Made me feel like I was masking her with masking tape
I had every intention to do
in a night that I had no intention to do
I therefore had no condom and was too tired to find a shop that was open like her legs
It was too late, lay in the bed
There was no way I was doing, it was too late
In my dream I invented a girl just like her
But when she became real I didn't wanna recreate
I put my arms around her and it was silent like a room full of mutes at a wake
She said that bringing me back with her her was a mistake
I said the fact I was still there was a bigger mistake
An accident waiting to happen
I thought about going... Only to remember the Manchester whether
I thought about Piccadilly gardens, the cold step we sat on
I didn't wanna go out there alone
I remember yawning, falling, not for her, only asleep
I was waiting for the morning with the benefit of a pill she wouldn't need
I woke up ready and sober, she said you wanted to do me
I said I tried, I told you, I didn't wanna hold you, I didn't even wanna know you
And that's when she cried.
I asked her why her ex boyfriend left her
She said he didn't leave me. He died.

Its too late now for you to say your sorry
Its too late now for you to make amends
Youre gonna pay for all the lies you told me
Well dont apologize cause its too late
Its too late
Much too late
You said those words
You said them much too late
Its too late
Much too late
You said those words
You said them much too late
Its too late now for you to sympathize, dear
The wheel of time is grinding gainst your dreams

Didn't I

I didn't realise that you were someone else
Until it was too late
So fooled by your disguise, carried away
I thought you were my friend
But things change and you along with them
Gone are the days when we laughed through the night
And it will never be the same
I said it wouldn't last forever didn't I, didn't I
Don't want to say I told you so but didn't I
I gave you all my heart and soul and didn't I cry
Bus somewhere deep in your heart, deep down inside
I got to you
Oh baby didn't I
We made no promises, we lived for every moment
Together come what may
What need was there to lie, for heaven's sake
I love you anyway
But things change and time heals the wounded
Where there was pain there's a scar on my heart
Now I can't look at you the same
I said it wouldn't last forever didn't I, didn't I
Don't want to say I told you so but didn't I

Green Eyes

My eyes are green
Cause I eat a lot of vegetables
It don't have nothing to do with your new friend
My eyes are green
Cause I eat a lot of vegetables
It don't have nothing to do with your new friend
I don't care, I swear
I'm too thru with you I am
You don't mean nothing to me
So go ahead and be with your friend
My eyes are green
Cause I eat a lot of vegetables
It don't have nothing to do with your new friend
My eyes are green
Cause I eat a lot of vegetables
It don't have nothing to do with your new friend
I'm insecure
But I can't help it
My mind says move on
My heart lags behind
But I don't love you any more
I'm so insecure
Never knew that love did this
Ooh, ooh
I can't remember the last time I felt this way
About somebody
You've done something to my mind
And I can't control it
But I don't love you any more
Yes I do, I think
Loving you is wrong baby
Ooh, ooh
La-di-da
Dum-dee-da-da
Dum-didi-da-da-da
Dum-didi-da-dum-di
I'm so confused
You tried to trick me yeah
Ooh, ooh, oh
Never knew that love could hurt like this
Never thought I would but I got dissed
Makes me feel so sad and hurt inside
Feel embarrased so I want to hide
Silly me I thought your love was true
Change my name to Silly E. Badu
Before I heal, it's gonna be a while
I know it's gonna be a while, chile
[ad-libs]
I hope it's not too late
Too late, too late, too late
Feeling insecure
Love has got me sore
I don't want no more
Oh, oh
It's too late, oh, oh ooh, ooh
I'm sorry I love you
At first we was cool
You told me you loved me too, ooh
And then you lost your love
Oh then you lost your love
And then you lost your love
You wanted me to go away
But I can't go
See I can't leave, it's too late
I can't leave, it's too late
I can't leave, it's too late
I can't leave, it's too late
Just make love to me
Just one more time and then you'll see
I can't believe I made a desparate plea
What's with me, meee, me ye-ah, no, oh
You see I can't leave, it's too late
I can't leave, it's too late
Don't you know, I can't leave, it's too late
Can't go no where, no
It's too late
It's too late
It's too late
It's too late yeah
Come on babe
Don't you want be strong with me
You told me we had a family
Want to run to me when you're down and low
But times get tough and there you go
Out the door, you wanna run again
Open my arms and you come back in
Wanna run cause you say that you were afraid, but I'm your friend
Never knew what a friendship was
Never knew how to really love

Yea! Heavy And A Bottle Of Bread (1)

by Bob Dylan
Well, the comic book and me, just us, we caught the bus.
The poor little chauffeur, though, she was back in bed
On the very next day, with a nose full of pus.
Yea! Heavy and a bottle of bread
Yea! Heavy and a bottle of bread
Yea! Heavy and a bottle of bread
It's a one-track town, just brown, and a breeze, too,
Pack up the meat, sweet, we're headin' out
For Wichita in a pile of fruit.
Get the loot, don't be slow, we're gonna catch a trout
Get the loot, don't be slow, we're gonna catch a trout
Get the loot, don't be slow, we're gonna catch a trout
Now, pull that drummer out from behind that bottle.
Bring me my pipe, we're gonna shake it.
Slap that drummer with a pie that smells.
Take me down to California, baby
Take me down to California, baby
Take me down to California, baby
Yes, the comic book and me, just us, we caught the bus.
The poor little chauffeur, though, she was back in bed
On the very next day, with a nose full of pus.
Yea! Heavy and a bottle of bread

Get Away From Me

Let me help you find some clarity.
In terms of my personality...
And why you say others,
May get upset with me!

First let's eliminate what others say.
I am discussing this with you.
I could care less what others say,
And/or do!

If I've given you my respect and attention.
And I have given you no reason to doubt my word.
Don't show me that you have taken me for granted.
Don't allow yourself to get on my last nerve.

When that is done,
I become someone else.
I show a side that comes out of hiding.
I've been called a monster by those who have seen it.
Those who say I am two faced and crazed.

But I respect myself and that I show to others.
And take pride in what I do,
Like others should too.
I don't collect excuses and alibis to make.
And those who do,
I consider fake!

So without further explanation,
Let me make to you this declaration.
You have no more time,
To waste that of mine!
Now...
Have I made myself clear?
I hope so!

'Yeah...
But everybody else,
Don't make such a big stink about me being late!
And everytime I was late or didn't show up for a date,
I gave you a call! '

And every year I have known you...
Which has been over twenty five.
You have managed to use excuses,
And have told me some of the biggest lies!

And if you had respected me at all...
You would not have found it easy to make excuses.
Or bothered to lie in any of those calls.
And everyone else who accepts that from you...
Didn't receive this patience I am giving.
Or that 'monster' getting ready to chew and spew!
You know why?

'No!
Why? '

I'm giving you the opportunity,
To get away from me as fast as you can!
You see my chest?
And how I'm taking deep breaths?
The monster comes!
You better prepare to run!

Now, pull that drummer out from behind that bottle.
Bring me my pipe, were gonna shake it.
Slap that drummer with a pie that smells.
Take me down to california, baby
Take me down to california, baby
Take me down to california, baby
Yes, the comic book and me, just us, we caught the bus.
The poor little chauffeur, though, she was back in bed
On the very next day, with a nose full of pus.
Yea! heavy and a bottle of bread
Yea! heavy and a bottle of bread
Yea! heavy and a bottle of bread

Depression destroyed my life

Depression destroyed my life.
It told me I was no good.
It told me I was all bad.
It told me I was not loved.
It told me I didn't deserve treatment.
It told me I deserved to die.

Depression destroyed my life.
I listened to what it was saying.
I told myself I was no good.
I told myself I wasn't loved because I was bad.
I didn't seek treatment to feel better.
I tried to kill myself for his entertainment.

Depression destroyed me.
I am left picking up the pieces.
He has left me alone.
He said it was to late for help now.
He left me scared and confused.
He is still here.
He wants to keep me.
And he will keep me.

Depression destroyed my life.
All I am asking is that it does not destroy yours.
