Now You're Gone

You promised me a life
You promised everything would change
Even said you'd be my wife
Ooh now you're gone
You told me I was handsome
Even told me I was smart
And I believed every word you said
Ooh then you broke my heart
I don't know why I was so fond of hearing
I only listened to what I wanted to
I couldn't see what was goin' on around me
You didn't need me
But I needed you
Ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh
Now everything has changed
The tables have been turned on me
It's all been re-arranged
Like the setting sun
Ooh now you're gone
I don't know why I was so fond of hearing
I only listened to what I wanted to
I couldn't see what was goin' on around me
You didn't need me
But I needed you
Ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh
Now I'm sittin' in the dark place
I got murder on my mind
Say goodbye to the rat race
No more setting sun
'Cause soon I'll be gone

One Of Us Must Know

I didn't mean to treat you so bad
You shouldn't take it so personal
I didn't mean to make you so sad
You just happened to be there, that's all
When i saw you say "goodbye" to your friend and smile
I thought that it was well understood
That you'd be comin' back in a little while
I didn't know that you were sayin' "goodbye" for good
But, sooner or later, one of us must know
You just did what you're supposed to do
Sooner or later, one of us must know
That i really did try to get close to you
I couldn't see what you could show me
Your scarf had kept your mouth well hid
I couldn't see how you could know me
But you said you knew me and i believed you did
When you whispered in my ear
And asked me if i was leavin' with you or her
I didn't realize just what i did hear
I didn't realize how young you were
But, sooner or later, one of us must know
You just did what you're supposed to do
Sooner or later, one of us must know
That i really did try to get close to you
I couldn't see when it started snowin'
Your voice was all that i heard
I couldn't see where we were goin'
But you said you knew an' i took your word
And then you told me later, as i apologized
That you were just kiddin' me, you weren't really from the farm
An' i told you, as you clawed out my eyes
That i never really meant to do you any harm
But, sooner or later, one of us must know

Never fair

I used to be such an idealist, believed everything goes well when you do well
I used to think that babies were born to parents that always loved them
I thought justice would be served for every injustice suffered
I believed if you really loved you couldn't lose
I used to think sex was just for pleasure
Until one day, just one, the tables turned

And me the passionate lover of love was lying in a hospital bed
Thick blood oozing down my legs soaking everything with my guilt
One moment of pleasure had turned the tables on me
That one moment of pleasure turned me into a mother only at sixteen
He was nowhere to be found, He that had said he couldn't live without me; He was nowhere to be found
Vanished with the summer breeze as my winter started
A child I desperately wanted to die couldn't die; somebody had arrived just on time
And here we were mother and child, both safe
I safe because for my treason I couldn't go to prison for the life I had
Attempted murder would have been my charge
But somebody I didn't know and I couldn't care for saved my life

Now justice had to be served
The more I tried the more I realized justice is a hoax
He got away with paying a mere 300 every month till she was eighteen
I didn't care about child maintenance
I wanted justice served, for breaking my heart I wanted him to pay
But that's all the judge thought it was worth,300 Pula and that wasn't even for me
So I settled with that bitter taste of reality, Life is not fair

I Couldn't Say Goodbye

I watch you as you're sleeping
As I'm standing at the door
I don't want to let you go
But I can't hold on anymore
I just can't find the strength
To say I'm leaving you
It's over now, it's over now
And there's nothing I can do
I couldn't say goodbye
Couldn't stand the pain
Couldn't watch you cry
Knowing that your heart would break
So I let you sleep
Till the morning light
When you wake up and you read the note I write
Telling you that I
I couldn't say goodbye
I'm walking down this rainy street
Thinking you're awake by now
As you read my letter
And the tears fall from your eyes
Just know I tried to make it work
It just wasn't meant to be
I needed you, I needed you
But not the way you needed me
I couldn't say goodbye
Couldn't stand the pain
Couldn't watch you cry
Knowing that your heart would break
So I let you sleep
Till the morning light
When you wake up and you read the note I write
Telling you that I
I couldn't say goodbye
I didn't mean to hurt you
I didn't want to make you cry
It's over now, yes it's over now
I just couldn't say goodbye
I couldn't say goodbye
Couldn't stand the pain
Couldn't watch you cry
Knowing that your heart would break
So I let you sleep
Till the morning light
When you wake up and you read the note I write
Telling you that I
I couldn't say goodbye

Take,Take,Take

was sitting there in a comfortable chair
And that was all that I needed
Then my friend offered me a drink for us to share
And that was all that I needed
Well, then I felt at ease
But then I'm not too hard to please
I guess you couldn't call me greedy
Then I was shocked to look up
And see rita hayworth there in a place so seedy
She walked into the bar with her long, red, curly hair
And that was all that I needed
And I said to my friend, "good god, we're lucky men just to even see her"
Take, take, take
Take, take, take
Take, take, take
And I could not resist, I just had to get close to her
And that was all that I needed
I walked and loomed around her table for a while
And that was all that I needed
Then I said, "i hate to bug you, ma'am, but can I have your autograph?"
And that was all that I needed
She pressed her lips against a white piece of paper
And that was all that I needed
Then I saw what she wrote, my heart is in my mouth
And that was all that I needed
Then she handed it to me, and I think that she could see
That that was all that I needed
I started to walk away but then I remembered 'hey, I forgot to get a picture'
So I asked her one more time, "could I have another favor?"
That was all that I needed
She was kind and posed with me
Then I knew my friend would see my celebrity meeting
Take, take, take
Take, take, take
Take, take, take
She turned and said to me, "I need to go to sleep,"
And it seemed so mean
It's almost as if she could not appreciate how cool I was being
She said, "good night" and walked away
And I didn't know what to say
I just couldn't believe it
Well, it's just not fair
I want to get a piece of hair
That was all that I needed
Or maybe a kiss on the cheek
I wouldn't wash it for a week
That would be all that I needed
But she didn't even care
That I was even there
What a horrible feeling

I Promised You War

So high to the mighty clouds above yourself
Upon the steed of the highest horse in wealth
Of a higher esteem born of self rewarding

Imagining the people of your rigged election
Voted yourself in upon rules of your creation
Take the hands from your hips when hoarding

With these mountains I moved
With bloodied fists I proved
Your every vein and soul I can sever
There is nothing I couldn’t deliver

I promised you war
‘til every muscle was sore
I promised you war
And you wanted more

Cannot be so long for the hearing ‘til deaf
All I ever ask is to be left instead of bereft
Please do tell your voice to stop speaking

Soon so very soon it all becomes so clear
When your sails find no fair winds to steer
No ones hand to catch your eternal falling

With these mountains I moved
With bloodied fists I proved
Your every vein and soul I can sever
There is nothing I couldn’t deliver

I promised you war
‘til every muscle was sore
I promised you war
And you wanted more

I promised you war
‘til every muscle was sore
I promised you war
But you always want more

Telling it straight.

He said he liked a clever woman
not too fat and not too slim.
She must be smart and have big bosoms,
never swear or ‘back chat' him.

He said she'd have to mind her manners,
always dress to please and then,
he told her she should never nag him,
for he couldn't stand the din.

She listened closely as he spoke
of all his dreams and all his fads,
and as she let him natter on
she sat quiet on her hands.

Then when he had finally finished
and she found her self esteem
she told him not to call or phone her
for she didn't much like him.

The End Of The World

Go if you want to
I never tried to stop you
Know there's a reason
For all of this you're feeling
Low, it's not my call
You couldn't ever love me more
You couldn't love me more
You couldn't love...
Me - I don't show much
It's not that hard to hide you
See in a moment
I can't remember how to
Be all you wanted
I couldn't ever love you more
I couldn't love you more
I couldn't love...
You want me to cry and play my part
I want you to sigh and fall apart
We want this like everyone else
Stay if you want to
I always wait to hear you say
There's a last kiss
For all the times you run this way
It's not my fault
You couldn't ever love me more
You couldn't love me more
You couldn't love...
Love me more
Couldn't ever love me more
I couldn't love you more
I couldn't love
You want me to lie not break your heart
I want you to fly not stop and start
We want us like everything else
Maybe we didn't understand
Not just a boy and a girl
It's just the end of the
End of the world
Me - I don't say much
It's far too hard to make you
See in a moment
I still forget just how to
Be all you wanted
I couldn't ever love you more
I couldn't love you more
I couldn't love you more
I couldn't love you more
I couldn't love you more

Picture Of You

Didn't they say that I would make a mistake
Didn't they say you were going to be trouble.
People told me you were too much to take
I couldn't see it
I didn't wanna know.

I let you in and you let me down
You messed me up and you turned my life around
You left me feeling I had nowhere to go
I was alone
How was I to know that

(Bridge)
You'd be there
When I needed somebody.
You'd be there
The only one who could help me

(Chorus)
I had a picture of you in my mind
Never knew it could be so wrong.
Why'd it take me so long just to find
The friend that was there all along

Who'd believe that after all we've been through
I'd be able to put my trust in you
Goes to show you can forgive and forget
Looking back
I have no regrets 'cos

Happy mothers Day In Heaven

I reached for your hand, It wasn’t there
I needed your heart, you didn’t care
I was born to you, you couldn’t love me
I was a mistake, you needed to be free

I don’t blame you, life dealt you a bad deal
You never knew love, and could not heal
Abandoned yourself, a very young child
You needed your freedom, to be wild

Trapped like a wild animal all your life
So much burden to have children and be a wife
Made bad choices, abuse was all you knew
The worst of mankind is what you drew

You never healed from being a kid
I couldn’t understand back then, things you did
My biggest fear growing up, was being like you
I was so broken, but finally pulled through

You couldn’t accept my love till you got old and sick
I wanted your love through then and thick
I took care of you till the very end, my heart breaking
I needed your love, and it was finally there for the taking

So I want you to know if you can see me up there
You will always be in my heart, I’ll always care
Do I forgive you, I’m haunted by losing you again
I feel so lucky for the short time, before it had to end

It’s been two years now, I still carry the pain
I’ve always loved you, and it wasn’t in vane
The cemetery is painful, I know you aren’t there
But I can talk to you, please know I care.

Your life was tragic and so was mine
I’ve broken the curse and continue to shine
I hope you have, a wonderful mothers day
You’re with God now, and not others prey

So I say goodbye, once again for now
I’ll see you again, this I vow!

So Many Stars

Maybe I didn't love you
As I turn onto Union Square
Maybe I didn't love you
As I slip my token into the turnstile
Maybe I only need to think about the past
You can understand
As I wedge myself between two boom-box boys
On the A train
Maybe I don't love you now
As I check out a brand new stove
Walking by a kitchen-wares store on Lex
Maybe I just needed to love
Anyone at all
Maybe I won't ever love you again
As I walk into Manny's for some strings
Maybe we won't ever be friends
Could I have needed to love the dark
As I try to avoid a jakey on Broome
Could I have conjured you
On imaginary avenues
Well maybe I need to merge with the all
As I stare at the sunset over the Hudson
And there you'd become one of
So many stars
What if I couldn't tell you apart
What if I couldn't pick out your face
What if I didn't love you
Didn't love you
There are so many stars
What if I couldn't pick out your face
Or find your hands
There are so many stars
What if I didn't love you
But what if I do
How will I know
What will you do
When I find you
There are so many stars
What if you're out there
And I just didn't see you
I could lose you just like that
Maybe forever
There are so many stars
So many stars
There are so many stars
There are so many stars

Michael Jackson

I didn't get to say goodbye
I didn't get to tell you that I love you
I didn't even tell you how I feel

You left in a hurry
Without a sound
With no clues

I have to ask why
Why did you have to leave me
Why didn't you tell me how you feel

I don't understand
Why you left
Is it because the God wanted you
But I am selfish I won't share you
Not even with God

You were my hero
My idol
My star

You had my heart
And when you died
You took my heart with you
But that's okay
Because I know I will soon
Be with you
Then I can have my heart back

You are in heaven
Away from all this distruction
But I must ask
Why didn't you take me
Then I could of truly told you everything

You are older than I am
But I still love you
You made mistakes
But so have I

I didn't want us to be together
But I want us to be able to tell each other anything
I wanted us to become Great friends
But now you are gone

Gone to heaven
Is that the best thing
If so for who
You left millions of people
Heartbroken and sad

Gone to heaven
Must be good for you
No distruction
No evil
All good

I didn't say goodbye
And that is killing me
I didn't say all the things I wanted to
That's tearing me apart

I am going to miss you
But as you leave
Another comes
Maybe he wil be like you

But I would have died for you
I am crying my heart and soul out for you
Praying you know that I loved you

You changed millions of poeple's lives
Including myself
You made me believe
I can too feel the music
The beat is within my heart

Closing my eyes
Picturing you here
Is not the same
Of having you here
With all of us

You left behind
Your family
friends
fans
me

Would you have come back to us all
Or would you wait for us
Until our time comes

But now it's time for us to let you go
People will never forget
How you changed everything
We will miss you forever

But now it's time to say goodbye
So goodbye Michael Jackson

Never Right

What am I supposed to say? You just up'ed and ran away.
What am I supposed to do? You told me you wanted to hear the truth.
I know that it hurt you, and I'm sorry for that fact.
But I wanted to be straight up. There's no way I can take it back.
[chorus]
I hate to see you crying, but this had to happen.
I'm sorry I broke your heart. I know you probably hate me.
I hate to see you crying, but this had to happen.
I'm sorry I broke your heart. It was never right from the start.
Go ahead and call me a prick. I probably deserve it.
Didn't want to push something fake, so I said what I had to say.
I hope that we can be friends, but that's only in my dreams.
From that first kiss, I knew you were deceived.
What else could I say? I didn't want to live a lie.
I couldn't parade around like everything's alright.
Instead I chose the truth. That's how much I cared for you.
Now you hate me. You wish that I'd just die.

Where Were You When I Needed You

(p. f. sloan/s. barri)
Don't botter cryin'
Don't botter crawlin'
It's all over now
No use in stallin'
The love i once felt
I don't feel anymore for you
This time i'll even
Open the door for you
You walked out
When i was down
Well now i'm well off
And look who's comin' around
Where were you when i needed you
Where were you when i wanted you
Where were you when i needed you
Where
You're looking good
It's hard to fight it
There's no use explainin'
I've already decided
That livin' without ya
Is worse than without ya
I won't spend a lifetime
A-worryin' about ya
Things got rough
And you dissappeared
Now i'm back on my feet
And look who's standing there
Where were you when i needed you
Where were you when i wanted you
Where were you when i needed you
Where
You were so young
And you were so wild
I knew you were nobody's
Innocent child
The first day i saw you
You really got me
I thought i could change ya
What good did it do me
Things got rough
And i couldn't wait
Now you're trippin' back
But babe, it's too late
Where were you when i needed you
Where were you when i wanted you
Where were you when i needed you

Looking for Encouragement in ICU

He's gone
I never saw him go
Surprised that he fell

I thought he would get up
At first he looked like he'd be OK
He was upset that he'd slipped

Confused that the legs hadn't held
The strength that steadied
The foot and braced the legs

Held at the smoker in 1932
When three solid lefts
Couldn't take him down

Held when the Hammond trim saw kicked
Held on the wet rocks of Redwood Creek
When the salmon jumped and were on

Held splitting a second cord of wood
While after loading the first
I thought I needed a break

Now when he needed it most
They didn't hold they gave
Yet he somehow still held on

Over the ledge I could see him there
He was pulling himself up
Or at least I wanted him to

I tried to talk to him
I got his attention
He silently shook his head

The same as when we hunted
When I thought I had a clear shot
And he knew I didn't

He always challenged me
No matter what I did
To be a better shot

'We're not out here to wound
Chase down a revine then
Drag bloodshoot venison through the brush.

We're out here to put meat on the table.'
He also knew when to fish
And where the quail hid

He always encouraged me
To know what I was doing
Before I did it

'Its real important you learn
The difference between your ass
And a hole in the ground.'

Was his way
Of putting it
I knew what he meant

Shaking his head I recognized his signal
I still wanted to help even though
I couldn't have gotten to him anyway

Then he stopped trying
The strength and gruffness were gone
I was mad at him

For the tears in his eyes
For not trying
For knowing more than me

He knew there was no way up
The others calling to him
Were of no use

I knew then what he wanted
To push away from the side
To be over and done with it

He was caught tangled held back
He couldn't even let go
When he wanted to

I looked and he was there
I couldn't help
I didn't want to watch

I looked again
He was gone
I never saw him go

Broken

Last night my heart was broken,
but now it's just bruised.
I couldn't believe that what I was hearing was true.
I never that things would have gone like that.
But I was wrong

She broke my hear,
But I still love her.
I'm broken,
but I know she can fix me.
Cause she has done it before.

I thot last might I had lost her forever.
but I didn't.
Cause once she said 'I love you, and i'm never going to leave'
Well I'm glad to say she kept her word
Cause if she didn't I wouldn't be writing this.

I Wish

I wished I had called to see if you were OK
But I was so caught up in my life
To even worry about your.

I wished I had been there for you
But I was to busy drinking
To even worry about you.

I wished I had cared more
But all I wanted was to escape
Even from you

I wished I had taken you seriously
But you tend to lie a lot
And I couldn't take you seriously

I wished I had told you I felt the same way
But I didn't want anyone to know I was in pain
Not even you

I wished you didn't feel like it was something you had to do
I wished you would of never pulled that trigger that night
I wished you could come back

I wished I told you that I loved you
But all theses excuses I make and wishes
Won't change the fact that your gone.

The Promise

How time will heal
Make me forget
You promised me
Time will heal
Make me forget
You promised me
Love will save us all
And time will heal
You promised me...
How love will save
Make me forget
You promised me
Love will save
Make me forget
You promised me
Time will heal us all
And love will save
You promised me...
I trusted you
I wanted your words
Believed in you
I needed your words
Time will heal
Make me forget
And love will save us all
You promised me another wish
Another way
You promised me another dream
Another day
You promised me another time
You promised me another life
You promised me...
So I swallowed the shame and I waited
I buried the blame and I waited
Choked back years of memories...
I pushed down the pain and I waited
Trying to forget...
You promised me another wish
Another way
You promised me another dream
Another day
You promised me another time
You promised me...
Another lie
Oh you promised me...
You promised me...you promised me
And I waited...and I waited...and I waited...
And I'm still waiting...

Man Said No!

I wanted to build myself a boat
Everyone said that it wouldn't float
As carpentry and boating I do not know
So man unto me, he said no.

I wanted to plant myself a flower
I was told I couldn't without knowledge or a power
I wasn't a gardener so plants I did not grow
So man unto me, he said no.

I wanted to learn myself how to fly
But I was told if I did I would die
In the air to the ground I would crash below
So man unto me, he said no.

I wanted to cook and to become a chef
But I was told that I wasn't mature enough
If I lit a match I would cause and inferno
So man unto me, he said no.

I wanted to learn to play and to enjoy music
But I wasn't allowed to listen to it
I wasn't taught to sing or to play the piano
So man unto me, he said no.

I wanted to learn how to ski
But to my idea everyone did disagree
Everyone knew I loved the cold and the snow
So man unto me, he said no.

I wanted to live my life the way I should
Do what I believed and understand what I could
To my want's and idea's to all I did confess
So man he said no; but GOD he said yes.

You know I told you a lie
*solo*
ah, ah ah, ah ah
ut, ah ah, ah ah
ah, ah ah, ah ah
ut, ah ah, ah ah
A family life and a lovin wife just ain't my kinda scene
Well when I'm all alone, when the nights are cold
I get to thinkin I was kinda mean
We coulda had a good thing but I never wanted to try
{chorus
You know I told you a lie when I told you goodbye
Don'tcha know, I love you so I
Don'tcha know, I love you so I told you
Don'tcha know, I love you so I told you a lie
Love you so I told you a lie
I loved you so I told you a lie (2)
Loved you so, loved you so
ahhhhh
Loved you so I told you a lie
ahhhhhh
Loved you so I told you a lie
