You stopped.
You never should have made promises you knew you wouldn't keep.

You made me realize I don't need you.
You may think I do.

You were important to me, but I've learned to move on.

Sugared lies 'twas plain to see

He promised reform n' justice
Promised jobs n' lower taxes

Whilst Neo-Cons honed battle axes

white with mystic mist of thousand sun shining random

Promised to uphold all our conspiracy greed strong grip to snatch
last coin from distressed, last shelter from the homeless
virgin soil cracked and crushed by treasure monger

failed and have been punished

Promises

I promised myself, in the morning to be good until the night
but my willpower, it was lacking and the cake was in my sight.
I promised myself in the evening, I'd abstain from typing texts
when lying on the sofa while he was looking vexed.
I promised myself to stop swearing but much to my disgust
I blurted out the naughty words when I was feeling rough.
I promised to keep my promises but all too soon I failed
so I'm promising never to promise, to promise myself again.

Desert Ditty

I’m walkin’ through the desert
Sand gets in your toes
Scorpions come bite your feet
And dust gets up your nose

But I’m walkin’ with my baby
We’re travellin’ hand in hand
