Zero Cards, All In
The casino aimed
For maimed heaven
And all the disciples
Clambered the atrium
Pawning breaths,
Capitulating the continents
Sealed in the impassable
Urns of these gamblers.
I took rancor slugs
As the jazz music
Wander to console
Or divert my perdition
Feigning a shattered wry
Of a harlequin smile
Girdling back the pearls
And the sharp crystals
As the daggers veer
Swiftly as the roulette
And the grinning grimace
Of the daunted heads.
My fingers stifled
And macadamized
Sternly cliff-hanging
Into an abject house
Of defeated cards,
And saliently deteriorating
With the buckling of cold
Streaming down rivulets
In my temples
And cradling a basin
In a more vulnerable place.
All in, my last card
And I trampled
Waging back,
Lightning-pace
Gone.
In the crunch
Of the rifted bones
Is a greater maelstrom
Of lambasted rapine
Yet I hold on to
These empty cards
And still risking the gamble
All in.
The heart.
The valiancy.
The dying days.
The prolonged torment.
The quintessence of gambling.

Gambling (Last Card)
I shuffled like a virtuoso -
A picador taunting his sly perdition
with his bloody caper
but there was no console
in defeating the beast
by becoming one
and with every fold and shamble
I lost my flimsy gaze
from you
Or was it you
who abandoned my frail hopes?
Regardless,
the tables had turned
and the dice
had rolled perfidiously
trouncing my gambles
The roulette fell
on its own vertigo
and the house of cards toppled
and in this speculated demise
I held you, waveringly
with a feigned assurance
for you are my
last card
and I cannot afford
to lose
in haggling and waging
against my wracking bones
So when I laid you,
in between the rapine
of all my machinations,
hoping for hope,
I laid you
to my defeat
I knew
that I lost you
with all that I earned
in our gambles
So in this roofless chasm
I wallowed against
the deluge
of trepidation
losing and losing
without a gamble
and no
condole
at all.

Somebody's game
the way
they play cards
flipping back
forward
our existence
a pack of cards
a queen,
a blackjack,
a spade,
between
the cards
a million
million years
we are tossed
up, down,
down, up
somebody's plan
anxiety to be winners
we live out
in a sea
tossed, thrown,
flipped,
nilly willyly
someone's
gamble
in blood and tears
in between
a bagful of suspense
puzzled
the beginning
the end
is there one?

Two Birthday Card Greetings!
1)
Some birthday cards are humurous
With jokes that make you smile,
Others are cute, with kittens on,
Or cherubs that beguile.
Some have flowery greetings,
Some, sentimental verse.
Some poke fun at someone's age,
While others - well, they're worse!
But my favourite kind of card is one
That comes straight from the heart.
No wit or soppy message. Just -
Happy birthday, you old f...! ! ! !
2)
Some cards are huge and colourful,
With greetings bright and cheerful.
Others are sweet or touching
And can make you feel quite tearful.
There are funny cards with jokes in,
Enough to make you titter.
Home-made cards, pricey cards
And ones all covered in glitter.
Some can be rather age-ist,
Making fun out of getting old.
While others contain messages
That are worth much more than gold.
Some cards are sentimental,
The rhymes inside quite corny,
But not this one - it simply reads:
Happy Birthday, love from Dawnie

Casino Crown In Melbourne
Casino Crown in Melbourne
Those who are economical
and calculating with frugal lifestyles,
shouldn't enter Casino Crown's gambling world.
The colourful and dreamy atmosphere
will lure you to loosen your purse strings.
See the finance wizards wobble before the Poker Machines.
The misers too will be tempted to gamble on the horses.
Some rookies well-versed in rummy dared to rumble
with the machines and stare at the display of results.
Go to village cinema theatres there with your real partner.
If you visit this extraterrestrial abode with your fake love
to partake in these exciting games, not only your coffers
but your luscious partner too will be fleeing away from you.
Send the corrupt, the underworld goons and the smugglers
to Casino Crown for to be punished. They can eat yummy cakes,
sip tasty wines and play with machines
and go back to their countries in loin-clothes.
Nice guys shuffle the cards and the baffled men lose their bets.
The Pokies King will be in a daze if some wizards
who know the programmes loaded in these machines
come, play and loot the money in billions.
Fleeting money never returns.
O, you waiting for a cakewalk! Come out with the satisfaction
that you too gambled in Casino Crown,
the Heaven made marvelous skyscraper.

The Dying Gamblers Story
In a little secret Gambling house in a city known for fame
There sits a man of tender years his head bowed down in shame
That young man told a story as sad as can be
And if you will but listen this is what he said to me.
A year ago I had a wife but she was called one day
And as she lay so near to death she pressed my hand to say
I'm giving you my wedding ring to cherish all your life
And with these words the reaper called away my loving wife.
Soon I started gambling til I never had a thing
And on a hand I thought would win I bet my dead wife's ring
I drew the card and looked at it, Oh God I cried aloud
I've lost my dead wife's wedding ring to this drunken jeering around.
When he had finished speaking he bowed his head and sighed
And we who heard his story knew that he had died
But that dying gamblers story didn't mean a thing
Too bad they said, dealt the cards, and bet his dear wife's ring.

Fishing Can Be A Dynamic Communion
Fishing is an apparently simple experience
that swiftly transforms into life dynamic communion
appreciation of water lit nature with the rush
of a gambler about to beat stacked odds in casino.
There are famed fishermen who mount fish upon walls.
There are famed gamblers who break cause casino to fall.
There are famed disciples who left fish became wise fishers of men.
There are faithful honest unknown believers going to heaven. Amen.
First stanza inspired by ‘I Love To Go Fishing’ by Juan Olivarez.

Casablanca
Hiding in the shadows-
Are The Casino's
Painting a Neon Desert Sight
...In search of that
...Proverbial 'Pot O' Gold'
Come the rainbow seekers
Towards glittered lights.
It's a Gamblers Paradise,
...Money Throwers-
A Utopia for Risk takers -
With its cha-chinging -
...Background Ambience -
And the Corporate Money Makers! !
Casting a lure, into the bright lights -
...Where green paper
...Burns its holes
In the pockets of the slot addicted
The inner core of the Gamblers Soul!
Black Jack and Roulette -
...Craps, a roll of the dice -
...Place your bet on numbers
It's just a mild sort of vice...? ?
For, it is a fact of life -
That the House most always wins -
...Leaving some of the loosers -
...Bankrupt and in despair -
And The Casino Owners, With Big Grins!

Harlequin
(brooker / reid)
Harlequin has lost his crown
Look they say a broken clown
Yesterday he ruled the world
Now hes crying to be heard
Yesterday he called the tune
Now hes howling at the moon
Harlequin has broken down
Harlequin, harlequin has lost his crown
Harlequin has broken loose
Slipped the knot and skipped the noose
Can those bloodhounds find his trail
Will they send him back to jail
Can those bloodhounds find his scent
Will they find out where he went
Harlequin cannot be found
Harlequin, harlequin has gone to ground
Break
Harlequin is back on top
Now his fame will never stop
See him shown from coast to coast
Hes the one they love the most
See them slap him on the back
How they love his every crack
Harlequin we knew youd do it
Harlequin, harlequin
Harlequin, harlequin
Harlequin, harlequin
Harlequin, harlequin
Harlequin, harlequin

Stay
Now the journey is ending,
the wind is losing heart.
Into your hands it's falling,
a rickety house of cards.
The cards are backed with pictures
displaying all the world.
You've stacked up all the images
and shuffled them with words.
And how profound the playing
that once again begins!
Stay, the card you're drawing
is the only world you'll win.

The Casino
Casino is the place when one is robbed the other celebrates,
Money and money is seen everywhere,
Cards smoke and alcohol can be named casino,
Which is lightened everyday.
Is it like life?
One day we are also happy the other day gloominess surrounds us,
We are also running after money, same as casino,
Betrayal, deceive is what life nowadays is named,
Due to which no light is left.
But, the truth remains the same,
Like in casino, the owner, the creator never loses they always win.

Happiness
Take a gamble with your heart
Take a chance on happiness
Odds are on your better half
You'll be glad you placed the bet
Think it over - what's to lose?
All the odds are in your favour
Play your cards right - no excuse
You know life is what you make it
Scared to move case you get shortchanged
But nothing venture, baby - nothing gained
Take a gamble with your heart
Take a chance on happiness
Toss a coin or turn a card
Time to give those blues a rest
Play for keeps - bet your life
I see loving in your future
You'll never know if you don't try
Missionary or kama sutra?
If there's room for you to improve
There's only one thing left for you to do
Take a gamble with your heart
Take a chance on happiness
Take the plunge - leap in the dark
Put your instincts to the test
Take a gamble with your heart
Take a chance on happiness
Turn or leave me - coming start
Find out what you like the best
Take a gamble with your heart........

Falling Out
When my house of cards for falls.
when i think I've lost it all.
she comes dancing so pretty down the street.
And i think that's a girl i would like to meet.
so full of energy.
But do i got it, as she does pure confidence.
knowing when and where your going.
rising above it all.
Save me, oh baby just save me.
when my house of cards falls and i think i lost it all.
i see her fighting off two men.
protecting her children. oh how i want that,
anything to know true love.
I'm just so numb, i think i forgot to have fun.
i just melt beneath the sun.
Just save me, oh baby just save me.
when my house of cards falls and
i think i lost it all.
i see her running out of a house on fire with her children.
and then i know what loss truly is.
So i must keep my faith.
Even with all thats wrong something got to go right.
Save me, oh baby just save me.
when my house of cards falls and
i think i've lost it all. i look back and
remember what i once had. and
its nothing compared to some so dumb.
A moment that should just be cherished.
A sequel to the prequel. with a kiss goodbye
i say save me oh baby just save me.
mmmhmmm. yeah save me, oh baby just save me.

Casino Queen
Well the money's pouring down and the people all look down,
And it's floating out of town
I hit the second deck and I spend my paycheck,
And my wife that I just met, she's looking like a wreck
Casino Queen, my lord you're mean
I've been gambling like a fiend on your tables so green
I always bet on black, blackjack,
I'll pay you back
The room fills with smoke and I'm already broke,
And the dealer keeps on joking as he takes my last token
Casino Queen, my lord you're mean
I've been gambling like a fiend on your tables so green
Casino Queen, my lord you're mean
I've been gambling like a fiend on your tables so green

Transcribed by b. luckett
The dealer sits alone in the dark
Cigarette shines on his very last card
Everything he had... watched it come and go
On a gamblers roll
Cold wind blows a young girls world apart
She bet it all she bet it all on the jack of hearts
Gained her freedom but lost her soul
On a gamblers roll on a gamblers roll
You know the gambler he rides... rides on a fools train
Ah tradin silver for gold
Oh but his luck will change... time takes its toll
On a gamblers roll
The dealer knows... its just about his last game
Not even she knows all the sorrow and pain
As the forty-five deals the fatal blow
On a gamblers roll...on a gamblers roll
You know the gambler he rides... rides on a fools train
Tradin silver for gold
Ah but his luck will change... time takes its toll
On a gamblers roll... on a gamblers roll
On a gamblers roll... on a gamblers roll
On a gamblers... gamblers roll

Lunatic
The pleasure leisurely basking
In the divan of iridescence
A fandango of ocher and vermilion
And the assuaging warmth
Spoke of many gambling riddles
Pawning the omnipresence
For ephemeral thrills
And when the cold of the night
Dissipates with the temporal dark
The garish sun would swoon over
The dabs of recuperation and
The idle volcano will erupt
With arduous lavas in the hottest
Spits of heaven's disgrace
The little deaths' final breaths
Would saunter back your road
Careening in your lids,
And slinging in your nape
And in the clear dermis of the sky
The moon would transpire
Ominously devouring the sun
Inveigling for the dark, the cold
The company of the warm
Embrace of the fire
That only shines
In the
Stark of dark.

The gamblers
One rainy night at a border camp
in the operational aria
I walked past a tent
and while the wind flapped open one side
a lightning bolt slammed down
into a tree near to me
sizzling with blue sparks flying
before it thundered cracking
and I saw some young soldier boys,
a group of troops
about the same age as I
sitting around a table
dressed in military vests
and brown military long pants
drinking brandy from a bottle
that they passed hand to hand
and I thought that they were probably
playing cards
or some sort of gambling game
when I heard the clicking sound
of the cylinder of a revolver being spun
and a dull click in an empty chamber
and knew which game was on
and walking right in
I took the gun from the next one
after it had again been spun
aimed it at the ground
next to the entrance and pulled the trigger
and the gun went off
with a bullet kicking up wet sand
near to the group of us.
Sheer terror had brought soberness
to the group
and those men were silent
with their eyes on my officer’s pips
and I took the revolver
and first thought about arresting
the lot of them but left them
to be sorted out by a sergeant
who followed me in
after admonishing them
with a very stern warning.
The very next day we went into action
were taken out
in some choppers
right into battle
and at the dropp zone
two rockets flew over my head
just after the last helicopter had lifted off
and the game was still on
for the brave young men
who accompanied me,
Russian roulette
with a bullet through the head
from a AK-47
or living on instead
from missed enemy shots.

Back To The Cul-De-Sac
Incessantly deteriorating
In a reckless capitulate
But never coming to the final grains
As I lay half-awake in my funeral
In the assuage of my nighttime bed
My room is the tourniquet
Of this woebegone torment,
My feet combed the mistral
Breaths of the yawning death
As I stared in the fluorescent light
Impenitently shoving me into the blight
And its phosphorescence unfurled
The lifeless mint of the green walls
And the cold wavering tiles beneath
With abstract patterns that resembles
The slumbering sea, is taking me away
Far from the garish hands
Of the firmament's beam
Raise it higher and ferry me back,
I plead, fetch me back
Into the dying memories.
The boring light punctured a stigma
Blinding from the vague darkness
Basking yonder the threshold of the door
An albino danseuse conquered my vision
And the stark pallor corrodes into the hue
Of the omnipresent phantoms of rue
I am going back, I am going back
Back into the cul-de-sac.

Heaven and Hell
the gambling house
god is outside
counting
who would win his abode
he knows too
who will win and lose
the roulette, the bucclarrete, the black jacks
let them in to find their hell and heaven anyway
if that is what they want
the church
god is inside
quietly
among his flock
sitting right inside them
he knows too who will win his abode
the real apostles from the judases
the hypocrites
scribes and pharisees
let them in anywhere to find their heaven and hell
everything is a gamble
including heaven and hell
and god
the master of the game

Nostalgia-tine
A time
Not so long ago
Was a school boy
He was tender in the heart
In the very same school class
Was a young school girl
Very smart,
Locked inside his empty shyness
This school boy
Wanted to, , ,
Talk to this pretty girl
Boldly, this day,
She set her hair in sophisticated curls
And what he wanted to say, , , was
Can you,
'Come out and play'
Inside he thought
I will do this, just on another day..
In the month of February
Exchanging cards was customary
On this school girls desk
Sat a box
Skilfully decorated
And craftily created
In the colors of the season
Red, Bright and White
Wow, the boy thought
'What a glaring sight'!
A little slot cut on the top
A place to make a dropp
Secure and sealed this
Decorated box
Its job was
Safeguarding all her precious
Little cards
Breaking from his school boy shyness
Reaching inside his pocket
Where kept his
Hand painted card
Drawn upon the white paper
Is his little heart
