You swear in the name of the duty officers/Kunes se u ime carinskih cinovnika

You swear in the name of the duty officers
Deputed co-longed in distant desert lands
Sandy castled under heavy bags of secrets
Ant-like tiny atomique diligent prying into
Historia discipula est of nothing my friend
But a patch of land in between the borders
Where life is on a discount 21 per century lower
Both hateful and duty free (you charge?)
Whom unto the nameless featuring for the first time
In the era of customs officers what kind of toll do you deliver
Mastering wavelengths of paths unconsidered
You crawled illegally into this world
Child illegitimate of all the courts now in progress
In all the sessions held on the top of a nail
In all the four parts of the world (you proceed?)
At the time of recession censure and poetry
Whom unto the faithless all faiths proclaimed
Fatefully forsaken in the glory box of matches
Some sort of a little girl always found frozen
Under a Christmas tree still smiling in heaven
With an old granny by her side
Some sort of a little lead one legged soldier
Stuck in his mother's wedding ring
Found in a market fish lying limp decapitated
On a kitchen board the blood on the knife
Announcing the time of fast (you eat?)
You swear in the name of the duty officers
And that is your birth mark skinned patterned oath
But if you want to speak on behalf of the pupils
You'll just have to break it.

Кунеш се у име царинских чиновника
Замијењених колонгираних у далеким пустињским земљама
Пјешчано узамчених под тешким врећама тајни
Налик мравима atomique марљиво вирећи у једно
Historia discipula est

Fifty Cents A Day

I am an humble Soldier
far from my friends and home,
mid scenes of war and hardships
I constantly must roam,
with many officers over me,
and them I must obey,
and do just what they tell me,
for fifty cents a day.

I enlisted in the army
to help my country's cause,
because I loved it dearly,
and would sustain its laws,
I felt a free man's duty,
his country to obey,
I came not as a hireling,
for fifty cents a day

I enlisted as a soldier.
a free man and a man
To do a soldiers duty,
as best a soldier can.
hope to fight the rebels,
and hate this long delay.
I came to help my country,
for fifty cents a day.

I now must yield to hardships
in cold in storm and rain
perchance with scanty rations
not even then complain
the right of seeking comfort
long since I signed away
my life I am slowly losing
for fifty cents a day.

who send the soldiers to the field
to buy his willing hand,
with promises so plentiful,
of treatment like a man?
twas those who, in two days,
received a larger pay
than does the soldiers in a month
at fifty cents a day

who promised to the soldier,
his wrongs should be redressed
if tyanny or officers
should his right oppress?
alas! the sword may smight him,
or kicked around he may be,
he finds his only redress,
is fifty cents a day

who promised to the soldiers,
if sickness should appear,
good doctors and kind nurses
was ready and was near,
to aid him in his feebleness
as quick as though his pay
was ten times as much
as fifty cents a day.

twas those who wear the shoulder straps
with haughty air of grace,
who look upon the soldier
below the negro race,
who thinks a soldier's duty
is only to obey
his lordship, and be content
with fifty cents a day.

how oft I've seen the soldier,
near tottering to the ground,
seek vainly for some friendly aid,
when it could ne'er be found,
when told he was not ailing,
to go and take his way,
one week would end his suffering
and fifty cents a day.

now, how many of these officers
would be here where they are,
if forced to live like soldiers,
and take a soldier's fare?
how few would take the treatment
even with their liberal pay,
let alone the poor pittance
of fifty cents a day

cheer up my gallant soldiers,
be cheerful, gay, and smile,
we'll do the fighting now,
and the voting after awhile,
and then we'll show oppressors
that they may fell dismay,
who treated us as serviles,
at fifty cents a day.

This poem was written by my great, great, great, grandfather when he was a POW in the civil war. He wrote this during the month of December 1863. I wanted to share this with everyone in memory of him.

A Soldier's Story

After the security of childhood
And before the insecurity
Of the second childhood
I found young men known as Soldiers.

I liked what I discovered, except for
A type known as First Sergeants.

Soldiers come in assorted sizes,
Weights, states of sobriety,
Misery, playfulness and confusion.

Girls/guys love them, mothers worry about them,
The US-of-A supports them and no matter
What their leanings, they somehow
Manage to get along with each other.

A Soldier is laziness with a deck of cards;
A millionaire without a cent; bravery
With a grin; the protector of our country
With the latest copy of playboy in his
Possession at all times, under the
Watchful eye of his buddies.

A Soldier is a composite: Sly as a fox,
The energy of a turtle, the brains of
An idiot, the sincerity of a fibber,
The appetite of an elephant, the
Aspirations of Casanova and the
Story of a hero with future intent.

When a Soldier wants something,
It's usually a 3-day pass; special duty
Or someone to walk guard duty and
Pull his KP duties now and again.

A Soldier dislikes answering letters,
Wearing his dress uniform, his
Superior officers, getting up for reveille,
Arm chow, Army transportation, the
Week before payday, his girl's old man's
Curfew, not being able to do what comes
Naturally as often as he would like,
And paratroopers (usually) .

A Soldier likes girls, women, ladies,
Females, and sometimes other guys.

No one can write so seldom, yet
Think of you so often. No one else
Can get so much fun out of letters
From home or sweethearts, civilian
Clothes, sex magazines and videos
And being on leave, with nobody watching.

A Soldier is a magical creature who can
Turn any time into magic time. You
Can lock him out of your home, but
Not out of your heart. You can take him
Off your mailing list, but not out of your mind.

"Attench-hut! ! " "Hup 2 3 4! " "Drop down
And give me 20 soldier! ! " I'm not a slave,
I'm a US of A Soldier with a Capital S! !

The Chopped Women

now i need not blame the culprit
of this chopping incident: the head thrown from a cliff
rolling down
the deep part of the river below
a taxi driver did it
where blood of some fish
try to conceal
the stink of the the human blood
of two women

their four arms
wrapped in black plastic bags
apart from their thighs
thrown in different
places of the town

the police officers found
some other human parts
under the bridge
far from the others finally located
in the canal
of a distant barrio

i read the papers
the headlines of the city
about a cold murder

the killer said
he admitted the killing and will serve the sentence in jail

all because of the woman's word
demeaning his manhood
all because she wanted him out of her life

the words that finally know how to kill
to chop and throw the mouth, the lips, the teeth, the tongue
the arms and legs
and thighs

apart from each other

i do not mean to side with the killer
we simply have to be careful with the word that also knows how to kill

simple courtesy could have avoided
a cold murder
a kind word could have make a better place
a world of peace

0005 The Poetry Reading

You’re two-thirds the way through.
The corners of their mouths are turning down.
Their eyes are filming over.
Their shoulders are stiffening.
They’re in defensive-polite posture.
They feel threatened by poetry.

But isn’t this just what they should be?
Their little worlds, threatened by the greater world out there?
Didn’t you have to go through this yourself?
For their sake, those who follow, wish to follow?
Isn’t this the proof that
Poetry Matters? ..

Sure – on paper – but not, please,
so visibly, and not right now…
the carer in you winces;
the poet, calls the self to duty;
the teacher in you, piercing of eye and human perception,
marks them off, one by one –

the officers of the poetry society,
impassively attentive, have
the easiest job – they don’t have to
like your poems – just approve,
clear up after, lock the hall…

and some look just simply hungry;
traffic bad in getting here
so get home first, then eat;
some find it just too long;
a little poetry goes a long way for them;
some are here because they think
you’ll notice if they aren’t…
some have just combined you
with a shopping trip to town; culture
a kinda penance for the overspend..

yup, time to flip over the pages
to the funnies, and the family ones;
turn up the volume of your voice, speed up a little
as if you too, are glad it’s ending soon;
with a bit of luck, you’ll get them
smiling at each other at each poem’s end, towards the end..
The applause is warm with virtue and relief.

but at least you threatened them a while -
if not with boredom, perhaps with poetry.

Another Young Soldier

Another young soldier has died far away
An army representative will call on his mother today
For to tell her your son on the course of his duty has died
He served and died for his Country with his mates at his side.

Another war mother will grieve for her son
It will not matter to her if the battle was won
And it will not matter to her if her boy died brave
She will weep every time she will visit his grave.

Another young soldier to join the war dead
A bullet from a sniper hit him in the head
On his next birthday in June he would be twenty three
His loss a heavy cross to bear for his parents and members of his family.

Another young soldier may he rest in peace
At least from further suffering he has found release
Just one more to die in another man's war
On a bombed out back street in a city afar.

Dharma Chakra

What Buddha set in motion,
The Wheel of Dharma
Was already, always in motion.

We used to discuss, with scorn,
The retired officers charging fee
To procure a meeting with us.

Now after retirement while
Doing consultancy, we charge
A higher fee for meeting officers!

I do feel sorry that I thought ill
Of them then, and so now if others
In the chair think ill of me, let them.

The circle will complete for everyone:
Only there is a season for everything,
As laid down in the Ecclesiastes.

It's Time For Christmas

The star, has previewed up in the sky
It was the night of a new born child
The birth of a better world
Since this holy night
We are all celebrating Christmas
It's time for Christmas, we singing for the world
Let's live together, in harmony
It's time for Christmas, it's time to heal the world
Let's come together, it's Christmas time
Christmas
You will find your way home, together with friends who will never alone
Christmas
In all these wonderful places, different colors and different races
Peace
In the silent night, no more pain lets stop the fight
Heaven
Like a place on earth, it's Christmas time its Jesus birth
Freedom
For the human race, to make the children's world a better place
Freedom
For me and for you, heal the world and make a wish come true
Peace
It's our love supreme, for now and forever what a wonderful dream
Love
Makes the world go around, from the highest mountain to the deeground
It's time for Christmas, we singing for the world
Let's live together, in harmony
It's time for Christmas, it's time to heal the world
Let's come together, it's Christmas time
It's time for Christmas

Carmichael

A silk scarf and a napkin
Hidden in a drawer
Two hundred bucks in an envelope
Labeled Lenore'
"Maybe she shouldn't see this.
She should never know,"
Said the widow's best friend, Ann,
"I'll just take it and go."
"I'll give her the money later
Say it was in his shoe
That way she'll never find out
That'll do."
"Carmichael was a credit to the force
In everything he did.
It's like we got a big hole in our side
Where he fit.
"If any of you officers
Would like to say a word,
Now would be the time
To be heard."
"Well, thank you, Chief, I sure would.
Carmichael was a partner of mine.
He was always very careful.
And he played it straight down the line."
One by one, the officers spoke
And the service came to a close
He had no living relatives but his wife
And she never showed
She just couldn't face the men
They all understood
They got in their cars
And drove home as directly as they could
"Carmichael, you asshole,"
the new widow sobbed beneath her veil
"Shot down in the line of duty
Is that how justice never fails?"
"I wish that things were better
When we said goodbye today
But we had our share of good times though
Along the way.
"Remember, hey Mr. Las Vegas,
You used to be so cool
We met Wayne Newton down at Pebble Beach
And you acted like a fool?
"We just couldn't stop laughing
It seemed so funny to us
We left our luggage back in the hotel
And almost missed the bus.
"That was a great vacation
Maybe the best of all
But God damn it, Carmichael, you're dead now
And I'm talkin' to the wall."
The force got back to normal
Carmichael was replaced
For one year nobody parked a car
In Carmichael's space.

Heavy Metal Universe

We're the masters of the wind
We're demons left in howl
we're the undefeated warriors
we have heard the call

We're the keepers and the leaders
of the only thing we love
we're the saviours
and protectors from above

In your sky there is no limit
and masters we have none
heavy metal is the only one

'cause its heavy metal universe
an it's never going down
flying 'cross the universe
we're heavy metal bound
we're heavy metal bound

With a burning hot desire
like a supersonic blast
we have come to show the world
that we have come to last

There ain't no way to stop us
and you'll never kill our pride
'cause it's not only music
it's a chosen way of life

And our world has got no borders
and in union we all stand
'cause heavy metal is our promissed land

'cause it's a heavy metal universe
with a heavy metal sound
masters of the thunder
shake you to the ground

It's a heavy metal bomber
and it's never going down
flying 'cross the universe
we're heavy metal bound
we're heavy metal bound

See my hands held to the sky
let me rock you 'till forever
raise your voice we're soaring high
swear allegance now or never
burning up we build a flame
as we speak the oath togheter
metal is our way forever...
... way forevermore

And our world has got no borders
and in union we all stand
'cause heavy metal is our promissed land

'cause it's a heavy metal universe
with a heavy metal sound
masters of the thunder
shake you to the ground

Ill Never Break Your Heart

Spoken
Baby, I know youre hurting
Right now you feel you could never love again
But all Im asking is for a chance
To prove that I love you
From the first day, that I saw your smiling face
Honey I knew that we would be together forever
Ooh, when I asked you out, you said no but I found out
Darlin that youd been hurt
You felt that youd never love again
Bridge
I deserve a try honey just once
Give me a chance and Ill prove thats all wrong
You walked in you were so quick to judge
But honey hes nothing like me
Chorus
Ill never break your heart
Ill never make you cry
Id rather die
Than live without you
Ill give you all of me honey thats no lie
Ill never break your heart
Ill never make you cry
Id rather die
Than live without you
Ill give you all of me honey thats no lie
As time rolls by you will get to know me
A little more better, girl thats the way love goes
And I know youre afraid to let your feelings show
And I understand but girl its time to let go
Bridge
Chorus
Ill never break your heart
No way (no way)
Girl Ill never make you cry (make you cry)
I swear (I swear, honey I swear)
Ill never break your heart
(I would never do that to you baby)
Oh just give me a chance Ill show you how much I love you
Id rather die than live without you
Ill give you all of me (I would give you the world, if youre mine girl)
Ill never break your heart
Ill never make you cry
Id rather die than live without you
Ill give you all of me honey thats no lie
(oh I miss you I want you I need you in my life)
(he could never do the things that I can do for you...)

Band Aid 2---do They Know Its Christmas?

Written: midge ure, bob geldof
1:
Its christmas time
Theres no need to be afraid
At christmas time
We let in light and we banish shade
And in our world of plenty
We can spread a smile of joy
Throw your arms around the world
At christmas time
2:
But say a prayer
Pray for the other ones
At christmas time its hard
But when youre having fun
Theres a world outside your window
And its a world of dread and fear
Where the only water flowing
Is the bitter sting of tears
And the christmas bells that ring
There are the clanging chimes of doom
Well tonight thank God its them instead of you
Feed the world
Let them know its christmas time
Feed the world
Do they know its christmas time at all?
3:
And there wont be snow in africa
This christmas time
The greatest gift theyll get this year is life
Where nothing ever grows
No rain nor rivers flow
Do they know its christmas time at all?
Feed the world
Let them know its christmas time
Feed the world
Let them know its christmas time again
Bridge:
(heres to you) raise a glass for everyone
(heres to them) underneath that burning sun
Do they know its christmas time at all?
End:
Feed the world
Let them know its christmas time
End:
(repeat & fade)

Calender Day 1

It's a silent night and half a truth. The edges of thought lightly touched by the Moon. It's a thick darkness I feed with the light of the letters, an aureole of the written among the walls the whispers slipping between the words and the body prostrated before the soul. From my altar like window the bidrs are flying up towards the arches upwards into an all held within manner built beneath the limits of the human craving.
...and half a dream. In another one there's an eye sighting into the gap and each step is light when there is no bottom. The space is answered in time and the time is wondered at in space about the meaning of standing and duration. The black sky spells out the stars the signs of its counting and I am but one of them. Sometimes the reflection answered in the surface of the water by the depth in which my own countenance is reflected and the edges of my shadow. Sometimes it's nothing as an always a good place to start a journey.
...and half a touch. It moves with its fingers the quiver of an early storm that will grow into slapping the boughs, the first dropp of rain will flood the streets now trodden by a silent night.
...and half a smile. Built within a tear and all made of hope. That smiles the night.

The Twentieth Century Is Almost Over

Back in 1899, when everyone was singing auld lang syne
A century took a long, long time for every boy and girl.
Now theres only one thing that Id like to know
Where did the 20th century go?
Id swear it was here just a minute ago
All over this world.
Chorus:
And now the 20th century is almost over,
Almost over, almost over
The 20th century is almost over
All over this world.
All over this world, all over this world
The 20th century is almost over, all over this world.
Does anyone remember the great depression?
I read all about it in true confession
Im sorry I was late for the recording session
But somebody put me on hold.
Has anybody seen my linoleum floors
Petroleum jelly, and two world wars?
They got stuck in the revolving doors
All over this world.
And now...
The winters getting colder, summers getting hotter
Wishin wells wishin for another drop of water.
And mother earths blushin cause somebody caught her
Makin love to the man in the moon.
Tell me how you gonna keep em down on the farm
Now that outer space has lost its charm?
Somebody set off a burglar alarm
And not a moment too soon.
Because...
Old father time has got his toes a tappin
Standing in the window, grumblin and a rappin
Everybodys waiting for something to happen.
Tell me if it happens to you!
The judgment day is getting nearer
There it is in the rear view mirror.
If you duck down I could see a little clearer
All over this world!
And now...
