Reflections On A Recurring Dream

Floating downstream ...
... or upstream?
Light flashing through gapes in the over-hanging tree branches
... or from Pulsars whirling in some distant galaxy?
Colors blazing
Nature displaying the abundance of its’ pallet
... or mind’s eye imagining colors never seen?
Textures untouched yet felt
Sounds unheard yet sensed
Faces
With features morphing
Strangers... for the moment
Morphing
Faces
Known and loved
Friend and enemy
Faces from the past
... or from the future?

Shadows
Silhouettes
Marionette-like movements

Movement
I move
Things move past me
Floating downstream or upstream?

Running
In slow motion
My feet are stones
I claw at objects trying to propel myself through molasses atmosphere

Flying!
I work so hard to fly
Someone sees me up here above the trees and points
I flap harder intuitively aware that I must not be caught doing the impossible

Floating
Brushing rustling leaves
Gliding barely above trees
... Just High enough to feel safe.

See All Her Faces

(jim stratton / alexander ryan)
Here she comes
Here she comes
Ribbons flying from her half-forgotten hair
Look at her run
See what the world and love have done
See all her faces
See all her faces
Look in my eyes
That she is me
I cant disguise
See all her faces
Ah, ha, see all her faces
Im looking for someone
Of the gentle kind
Knowing that looks can lie
Looking for someone
Is he there to find?
Or should I run on by, ah, ha
Here she comes
Here she comes
Shadows sadly chasing
Every step she takes
Look at her now
She needs love so much more somehow
See all her faces
See all her faces
Look at my life
The wasted years
Each a knife
See all her faces, ah-ha
See all her faces
Waiting for someone
Who will set me free
Passing the time too fast
Waiting for someone
Is that where hell be?
Or should I run right past? , hmm
There she goes
There she goes
Somehow making me and all her faces sad, oh, oh
Ba, da, ba, da, ba, da, ba, da......

Morphing Thru Time

(michael cretu)
.
Earth. a biosphere.
A complex,
Subtly balanced life support system.
Et turtur nidum,
Ubi reponat pullos suos
Altaria tua domine virtutum,
Rex meus, et deus meus
(translation:
And the turtledove a nest
Where it might place its young
Your altar of strengths, lord,
My king and my god, )
We are floating over the line
Let us follow our mind
All of our life well wait for the answer
And the question is why
.
If were following our mind
We can glide into light
No one knows if therell be an answer
While were morphing thru time
.
We are floating over the line
Let us follow our mind
All of our life well wait for the answer
And the question is why
.
Were just travellers
In endless space
If were following our mind
We can glide into light
.
No one knows if therell be an answer
While were morphing thru time

Protagonist

Tears had once fallen from inside
Every part of me-
A breeze rustles the barren branches on the trees
In the midwinter, here where
Fear, anger and mistrust have for so long been the enemy.
I can envision something magical about every bough upon every tree, while
The sound of the wind calms me.
I watch the branches upon the surrounding trees move about
As ballerinas dancing-
A symphony is playing inside of my mind-
Every thought transforming fear toward enchantment-
I also am dancing to the melody of the wind.
As snow begins to fall,
I can clearly see a pathway blazing before me now.
I am in union with nature as the deer running wild,
Trees scraping the sky and the uniqueness of every snowflake
Has obliterated the anguish and suddenly all that once tormented me
Has been lost behind me now as I keep stepping forward, into the
Glory of the wilderness-
My only care now is what the future holds-
As I leave the past behind me, buried beneath feet of snow-
This prospect has become a stage before me filled with hope where
The protagonist could be me, courageously fighting my fears, as
A symphony continues to play inside of my mind, music being nature’s bounty-
I have searched and found my safe haven here where
I have become a winner in the theatrical game of life.

Christmas Trees

old homeless man...
watching then sell
Christmas trees from

a gravel lot...
thirty dollars, half memories,
faces or shadows,

long gone!
shuffles his feet,
his hands in his pockets,

fumbling his change...
old man, move on!
maybe come back tonite,

swipe a tree in the dark,
drag it on down to the tracks....
a bare Christmas tree,

and a lonesome old fire....
shadows and faces,
waiting quietly on death!

Love Again

Yea, I got somebody he just got me feeling crazy,
mean he really really did his thang,
I think I fell in love again
(chorus) you came into my world and taught me thangs
and I cant lie cuz boy you did your thang
feel like I'm floating when I hear your name
I think you made me fall in love again
I know it could be done like this, yeah,
a simple touch could feel just like a kiss
and when you put your hands in certain places
boy I cant help but make them silly faces
cuz what you doing to me it should be a sin
it feels so good that I can barely hold it in, boy
(chorus) you came into my world and taught me thangs
and I cant lie cuz boy you did your thang
feel like I'm floating when I hear your name
I think you made me fall in love again
I love to feel your heartbeat next to mine
it always seems to heat me up inside
its crazy how we work up such a sweat
and I aint ever had it better ever since
cuz wat u doing to me it should be a sin
it feels so good that I can barely hold it in, boy you
(chorus) you came into my world and taught me thangs
and I cant lie cuz boy you did your thang
feel like I'm floating when I hear your name
I think you made me fall in love again
(brigde) you stay on my mind, cuz
boy I just cant find the one to do them things like you do
ever since you came into my life
(chorusX2) you came into my world and taught me thangs
and I cant lie cuz boy you did your thang
feel like I'm floating when I hear your name
I think you made me fall in love again

THE FLAMENCO DANCE (Complex Poetic Form)

In a juerga there's nothing around
But voices, flamenco guitars,
Dancing bodies in moonlight,
Vibrant gypsy dresses,
Passion, obsessions,
Bullfighter's blades,
Silk shawls,
Dancers,
Capes.
Old men have faces scorched and cracked,
Flamenco women to attract,
Like barks of olive trees in night.
Shirts dazzle white in the moonlight.

Girls have boot heels and huge roses,
Men clench their teeth, step opposes,
Hands clap and shout in a dance fight,
Shirts dazzle white in the moonlight.

Guitars are beaten at high speeds,
Castanets scratch the music's seeds,
Rhythmic fingers snap air to bite,
Shirts dazzle white in the moonlight.

Old men have faces scorched and cracked,
Shirts dazzle white in the moonlight.

Hands becoming wings
In their shadows on the wall,
Red becoming black and
Black becoming white,
Motion vibrating the guitar's string,

Cubic movements of colors,
In their dance,
Shadowy wings becoming scarfs,
Flamenco woman arching her body,
Showing her passion…

From the soul to dissolve
The dancing sounds detach
From the soul to dissolve

When the movement they catch,
They may change all around,
The dancing sounds detach.

Drums and tambourines' sound,
Exotic wrists and swirls,
They may change all around.

The weightless grace makes girls
Steal treasures from the air,
Exotic wrists and swirls.

With beautiful black hair,
Rise like birds, fall like leaves.
Steal treasures from the air,

Having tricks up their sleeves,
From the soul to dissolve,
Rise like birds, fall like leaves
From the soul to dissolve.

Spicy slippery steps
Waiting for a clue,
Picking up portions of pink
Of hyper-femininity,
Overflowing screwy sounds
In heavy red chromesthesia,
Morphing themselves into glamorous,
Red feminine movements,
Men looking like marble statues being alive,
Seemingly cracking.
Slowly diminishing their dancing rhythm,
Steps mowing sweet sounds
To hear the horn of some lost happiness.

The Shallow Waters

on an afternoon
you swear you want something light this time
you want to be like some clouds
those happy ones
those that change faces and shapes and
colors every second
something slippery to our senses
you dislike permanence
and stability
you opt for the floating flimsy things
a leaf floating on the water
a boy wading on the shore afraid of the
depths like the way his mother watches over him
you say
you are tired of these philosophical pursuits
as though thinking hurts
as though every word becomes an argument
you like something fashionable like gowns
and the latest creations of
some gay designers
i am firm and i stay
on the depths of my thoughts
and i am drowning and as you well see
i do not need your help
i like this pain of fathoming
whatever is there
is mine alone and now
step out from the yard of my life
get out of my fence
i live here and this is my territory
this is my loneliness
and i am proud of it.

Chessboard

dark matters are floating
like bowls made of leaves
spilling hunger, make me upset, figures moving
like ghosts wrenching out the fish plates
from rails, nothing will move now except
the eyebrows of stone faces, bodhisattvas
sitting in scorching sun, unshaven, crosslegged
waiting for realization to come, not to
them but tormentors, a milky way in ever
night, the dry wind slaps on the faces
to remind them not to sleep, the shade
of the Cacti and Acacia seldom stubborn
to give you the shadow of the blades, the
sun ultimately compresses you in the
waist- high grass of death trap.

Elegy for Mothers Day: Beyond the Ashes

i touch your face,
feeling the uneven path
of creases

running my index finger
on suffering lines leading me
to your eyes

i feel lost in your eyes
abandoned in your weary
ocean

leaving the blazing shores
floating on sulphuric tides
we must feel pain in

ash comes from harbour side
wind still and silent the flakes
paints our faces grey

It’s a place for unresolved tears
I feel unable to propel forward
forsaking a dead embrace

you are sinking
i am drifting about
but all will drown in this weary place

you wasted us both

Cobwebs Of Dreams

The cobwebs of Dreams

It was a clear day…too clear I thought. Mother sat in the kitchen
and sunlight made her white hair into a halo. I asked her who
old she was. Ninety two, she said, knew I was trapped in a dream
as she didn’t live that long. By the slow river I saw furniture drift
along. Brother said that people who lived downstream went
upstream to buy furniture, to save on transport cost they dumped
the stuff into the river where relatives, downstream, picked it up.
Sometimes they lost a table or a commode but that’s a risk one
has to take. I knew this too was a dream, Walked along a soft road,
in a forest, but something was wrong there was a strange red light
emitting from the trees, now I was trapped inside a painting by
a mad Russian artist; luckily I had a flick knife. It is morning, that is
I think it is, sometimes the line between reality and the subconscious
merges, perhaps yesterday is today

Gliding Bird

(Tom Slocum)
Gliding bird gliding through the sky
I'm wondering why I can't be why I can't be as free
Gliding bird gliding all day long
Sing your secret song away from all these faces that I see
Is where I want to be
My feet are so tired
They walked too many miles
If I run so wild like heaven's child
I'll learn to fly someday
Gliding bird riding in the sun
Rainbow colors run
I hear the wind
I hear its mournful call
Gliding bird high above the sea
Is it longing to be free
Your voice is silent
But your wings tell all

Photographers

they go to placid lakes
to find the pictures of nature's best
these fishers
of the faces of nature's bliss

the green marshes of the pond
the fading sun
the fish coming out of the water
a leaf floating
the pines blown by the wind

shall they capture too the scent
of the flowers?
the pungent snake hiding under
the rotten bark of trees?

all my lives

The voice and the face

In many female singers
I loved them imagining their faces
Till I came to know their faces.
Then I separated their voice
From their faces to love.
Anuradha Sriram is an exception.

After The Goldrush

Well, I dreamed I saw the knights
In armor coming,
Saying something about a queen.
There were peasants singing and
Drummers drumming
And the archer split the tree.
There was a fanfare blowing
To the sun
That was floating on the breeze.
Look at mother nature on the run
In the nineteen seventies.
Look at mother nature on the run
In the nineteen seventies.
I was lying in a burned out basement
With the full moon in my eyes.
I was hoping for replacement
When the sun burst thru the sky.
There was a band playing in my head
And I felt like getting high.
I was thinking about what a
Friend had said
I was hoping it was a lie.
Thinking about what a
Friend had said
I was hoping it was a lie.
Well, I dreamed I saw the silver
Space ships flying
In the yellow haze of the sun,
There were children crying
And colors flying
All around the chosen ones.
All in a dream, all in a dream
The loading had begun.
They were flying mother natures
Silver seed to a new home in the sun.
Flying mother natures
Silver seed to a new home.

Down The Nile

Lying right beside you all the things we done
This I didn't plan now I understand we're one
We belong together no more time to fight
Underneath the skin we can let it in and float it through the night
And I aint never been here before
And you you , you come and knock on my door
(chorus)
Floating down that moonlight river
Lighter than a child
Warmer than the seven breezes
Floating ~ floating down the Nile
Softer than the clouds around us
Filling up my eyes
Silky like your burning kisses
Floating ~ floating down the Nile

The Lofty Sky

To-day I want the sky,
The tops of the high hills,
Above the last man's house,
His hedges, and his cows,
Where, if I will, I look
Down even on sheep and rook,
And of all things that move
See buzzards only above:-
Past all trees, past furze
And thorn, where nought deters
The desire of the eye
For sky, nothing but sky.
I sicken of the woods
And all the multitudes
Of hedge-trees. They are no more
Than weeds upon this floor
Of the river of air
Leagues deep, leagues wide, where
I am like a fish that lives
In weeds and mud and gives
What's above him no thought.
I might be a tench for aught
That I can do to-day
Down on the wealden clay.
Even the tench has days
When he floats up and plays
Among the lily leaves
And sees the sky, or grieves
Not if he nothing sees:
While I, I know that trees
Under that lofty sky
Are weeds, fields mud, and I
Would arise and go far
To where the lilies are.

Eventually

I met a man
And talked about you
He seemed like a man from Osaka I knew
And he listened while I told him how you hurt me
And he consoled me when he told me he'd been hurt too
And he said we are inter-dependent
And the effects on each other never ending
And that the air has no boundaries
I think this water that surrounds me
Is the same water soaking through to you
So what comes floating to me
Eventually
Will come floating back to you
What comes floating to me
Eventually
Will come floating back to you
I had some tea
With a gal from Paris
We talked about life, sex, love and poetry
And you can't help it
Your name came up again
And she said man those kind of guys
Really know how to steal all of the oxygen
And I said we are inter-dependent
And the effects on each other never ending
And that the air has no boundaries
I think this water that surrounds me
Is the same water soaking' through to you
So what comes floating to me
Eventually
Will come floating back to you
What comes floating to me
Eventually
Will come floating back to you
I have a friend I confide in
He always says doll you got to learn not to lead with your chin
But you can't help it
It all comes up again
And then you have your fill
And your spill reaches down as far as a flood
So what comes floating to me
Eventually
Will come floating back to you
What comes floating to me
Eventually
Will come floating back to you
Eventually
Eventually
Will come floating back to you
Eventually
Eventually
