Every Hoodie Has His Big Honk
New words pop up everyday
to add in the dictionary.
Now one of the later words is Hoodie
to go with the collection.
Now a Hoodie is someone
who looks a bit like a Monk.
However, what is the first thing that you see
when you spot one of them,
it is their trademark,
and I’m not talking about the hood,
I’m talking about their honk
that stretches out from within.
The bigger the honk,
the bigger the hood
to try to cover it.
Now Mick Jagger has his lips,
but a Hoodie always has his honk.
Everyone one is different,
just like a fingerprint,
even Scotland Yard have started
a new records department
and it is called the Honkers Records Office
with thousands of photographs of Honks
peering out from under hoods.
Soon your Passport photograph
will not be displaying a picture of you,
but just a picture of your honk.
Even the people at the Guinness Book of Records
have started a new section called
Honkers of the world.
The biggest honk is owned by
Eliza Shrinking Violet
with one all of 64 inches long.
Pinocchio came in second place.
He could be first next year
as his honk is still growing.

i said hi
he pushed me out
out into the street i go

and shot the man on his mouth

Yesterdays Toys
Girls I watch them Girls.
Girls new at university brained.
Girls Girls different all focused.
Girls some seemingly scatter-brains.
Spreading nonsense squawks
honk honk honking drains.
Them Girls Like Them Boys
Discarding Lectures Like Yesterdays Toys.

Honk If You Honky Tonk
Well, I got a bumper sticker
On the back of my truck
There aint another like it
Cause I had it made up
I can tell whos behind me
They give themselves away
Lay on their horn when they read this phrase
Chorus:
Honk if you honky tonk
Dont if you dont
But, if you do
Dont you love to
Honk if you honky tonk
Me and Friday night go hand in hand
Ice cold beer and a swingin band
A girl on my arm that wont let go
She caught my little sign about a mile ago
Repeat Chorus
Well, just the other day I was cruisin through town
Sheriff pulled me over, I thought I had it now
I rolled down my window, he said with a grin
I want one of them stickers or Im gonna run you in.
Repeat Chorus twice
Honk if you honky tonk
I hear ya honkin, yeah
Im pullin over,
Lets honky tonk

Honky-tonk Moon
Dirt road in the twi-lght, woods so cool and dark.
Up a-head pale ne-on, somewhere a dog barks,
Honky-tonk moon, keeps shining on my ba-by and me
Breaking up the pool balls, chalk-ing up the cues
Juke box pumping soft-ly, lazy sum-mer blues
Honky-tonk moon, keeps shining on my ba-by and me
Chorus
Through the blue smok-y haze, all through the haze
Trouble seems to melt a - way.............
My hearts on a roll, Im easy in my soul
Theres no hur-ry, no wor-ry, things are go-in my way
My arms a-round my ba-by, shuf-flin on the floor
Cig-a-rettes and saw-dust, squeak-y old screen door.
Honk- tonk moon, keeps shin-in on my ba-by and me.
Out-side the dark is fal-ling, stars are twinkling bright
That old hoot owl is calling, every-things all right
Honk- tonk moon, keeps shin-in on my ba-by and me.
Honk- tonk moon, keeps shin-in on my ba-by and me.

Georgia Peaches
(ronnie vanzant -- steve gaines)
Well, you can see her walkin down on peachtree street
She got high-heeled shoes and a dot on her cheek
Shes lookin good, shes headed downtown
Aint got no money, honey
She knows her way around
I think shes cute, think shes cute as she can be
Talkin about a funny talkin, honk-tonking georgia peach
Well these georgia peaches
Son they know their way around
They can take your money, son before you get sight of town
Well they talk a little funny, but they look so fine
Nine out of ten of them gonna sell you a dime
I think theyre cute, think theyre cute as they can be
Talkin about a funny talkin, honk-tonking georgia peach
Well, peaches, peaches
Love them georgia peaches
Well, peaches, peaches
Love them georgia peaches
Well them georgia peaches
Sure do got the style
Theyll steal your heart with a southern smile
Well they talk a little funny, but they look so fine
The older they get, I swear its like good wine
I think theyre cute, think theyre cute as they can be
Talkin about a funny talkin, honk-tonking georgia peach

Send Love Instead
Send love to a child who needs it most,
Celebrate the end of the day with a toast.
Give a homeless person food in a can,
Give a old lady a hand.
Look at the birds in the sky,
Wave to people instead of honk when passing by.
Pray for the planet once a day,
and all the peoplethat passed away.
Take a picture to save a memory,
or write a poem about you and me.

Outside Life
While walking through
that jungle of concrete
that I call my home
where all the houses seem
glued together
and the cars honk
at the j-walking civilians
where the billboards and ads
scream to you
from high in the air
I stop to think
(in all that hustle and bustle)
what life is like
outside of this place

An Election Night Pantoum
Gaze at the good-natured crowd,
List to the noise and the rattle!
Heavens! that woman is loud-
Loud as the din of a battle.
List to the noise and the rattle!
Hark to the honk of the horn
Loud as the din of a battle!
There! My new overcoat's torn!
Hark to the honk of the horn!
Cut out that throwing confetti!
There! My new overcoat's torn-
Looks like a shred of spaghetti.
Cut out that throwing confetti!
Look at the gentleman, stewed;
Looks like a shred of spaghetti-
Don't get so terribly rude!
Look at the gentleman, stewed!
Look at the glare of the rocket!
Don't get so terribly rude,
Keep your hand out of my pocket!
Look at the glare of the rocket!
Take that thing out of my face!
Keep your hand out of my pocket!
This is a shame and disgrace.
Take that thing out of my face!
Curse you! Be decent to ladies!
This is a shame and disgrace,
Worse than traditions of Hades.
Curse you! Be decent to ladies!
(Heavens! that woman is loud.)
Worse than traditions of Hades
Gaze at the 'good-natured' crowd!

The Parting...
let the parting be as formal as
an invitation card
let the date be specific
the rituals well defined
let us forgo the waving of the hands
try the flying kiss as you embark
on a trip
back grounded by the deep honk of
the boat
let it be said
there are no final goodbyes
just like
temporary hellos
people change and like the seasons
follow the cycle of
here and now
and see you later
as the iguanas shed off their skins
so must we in our beliefs
in pain we molt but in due time
we are smooth again
rebounding

Top Of The Pops
Ive just come in at number 25
Im oh so happy, so glad to be alive
And everybody says its going to get to the top
Life is so easy when your records hot.
Go tell my mamma and my sister too
To press my trousers and polish my shoes
I might even end up a rock-and-roll god
It might turn into a steady job.
And my agent said to me: son, I always told you so.
Now my records number 11 on the bbc
But number seven on the n.m.e.
Not the melody maker want to interview me
And ask my view on politics and theories on religion.
Now my records up to number 3
And a woman recognized me and started to scream
This all seems like a crazy dream
Ive been invited to a dinner with a prominent queen
And now Ive got friends that I never knew I had before.
Its strange how people want you when you records high
cos when it drops down they just pass you by
Now my agent just called me and said it me:
Son your records just got to number one.

Only Three Days Away
Is it the quietness of midnight,
That people find it appropriate...
To honk a car horn to shock and disturb,
With a shouting to a closed window...
Of someone living just a few steps away.
To then have a loud conversation,
As to where they should meet for lunch...
When the weekend comes?
Is it the quietness of midnight,
That people find this appropriate to do?
Or should I ignore what is going on,
To get up to have a snack of popcorn?
And forget about sleeping.
With a making of my own plans,
For a weekend anticipated with such enthusiasm...
Only three days away.

Two Old Friends
when we were children
we were already friends
in the middle of our own poverties,
we struggled to rise from the lowest
echelon. Years passed. And now
we see each other again.
His fingers are filled with diamond
rings, as big as a fist of a child.
His coat is expensive.
Everything in him is expensive now
His car. A picture of his beautiful wife.
A corporate lawyer too in the
city. He will be taking the bill
tonight in this expensive restaurant.
The finest wine. The exotice cuisine.
As usual, I will do the talking,
as always, since then, he had
always been on the side of silence.
Ask him to tell a joke, he says
he has none. Ask him to tell a
story about himself, he says
there is nothing nice about
his past. Ask him about his
present, he says there is nothing
worth talking about himself.
He has all the secrets hidden
inside his silent gazes. He smiles
to every story that i tell. He
likes my company.
Inside my mind, i could have
asked him: how many persons
have been killed in your name?
How many assets are taken
mercilessly from the hands of
your economic foes? What
brain is this that keeps on
acquiring and scheming and
killing who obstructs his way?
He is my friend, as always and
i do not have the right to ask.
The night is over. It is time to
go home. We are on separate cars
now and he tells me, 'take care! '
Sometimes, i ask myself if i understand
what life is all about really. I am home,
And i decided not to preach,
even to myself. I honk the car,
and the gate opens.
It is 3 o'clock
in the morning.

Safe And Sound
Jesus, and the third world poets
carrying their dying children
across the starvation desert...
the stench of disease,
poverty, and dead eyed
hopelessness, ... hangs
in the indifferent air.
if you dont know their names
they're not real, just pictures
on the news you turn off...
finish your supper,
throw out the scraps;
get in your cars, and
go for a drive...
turn up the radio!
speed up! roll up your
windows... safe, and sound....
honk if you love Jesus!

Under The Sun
there is so much to do
to talk about
to learn and judge and
tell
to forget and forgive
to decide to move on
like the grass and the
grasshopper
the ants and the butterfly
the hill and the
river
like the clouds up the
tips of the hills
like the atom and
the molecule
like your lips and your
teeth
your eyes and
your heart
like the fish on the water
the mice on the trap
the cheese and the dough
an open mouth
a tongue
a word of thanks
of hands waving goodbye
the last honk of the car
the speeding jet plane in the air
the darkness in space
Venus and Mars
Jack and the beans
so much to talk about
under the sun
why lonely still?
why so empty still?
yes, you.

High Flier
we're winging our way to foreign lands.
passengers are thinking of soft white sand.
captain Buck is making good time.
He cocks his head, `did you hear that? that's the second time.`
He swears he can hear a honk.
he checks he's stowed his bunk.
With this tailwind they'll do alright
the passengers are enjoying the flight.
`Look out your window, we must each have a screw loose,
isn't that a goose?
for heaven's sake, man, take your foot off the brake,
don't let it overtake! `

Penguin Paradice
Each penguin's such a precious thing,
Content to honk all day!
Each wide-webbed foot, each floppy wing,
To them, they're quite OK.
The water's cold! They walk on ice!
Do you hear them complain?
To them, this place is Paradise!
They say, 'No p.p.p.pain, no g.g.g.gain! '
You won't catch me in ice cold sea
And gobbling ice cold fish!
They'd soon lose all their novelty -
They're not the ideal dish...
The easy life, that's all I want -
Not fish day in, day out...
My choice in every restaurant!
Yes, that's what life's about!
And central heating suits me fine
And clothes and jewels, too...
Some champagne or some fancy wine
And then I'll muddle through.
But fish, fish, fish would drive me mad!
I'd soon curl up my lips!
With no potatoes to be had,
There'd be no fish and chips!
No telly and no radio,
No papers to peruse...
Live as a penguin? No, thank you!
This human life I'd choose...
