Death is not only an unusually severe punishment, unusual in its pain, in its finality and in its enormity, but is serves no penal purpose more effectively than a less severe punishment.

The principle inherent in the clause that prohibits pointless infliction of excessive punishment when less severe punishment can adequately achieve the same purposes invalidates the punishment.

Unusually Unusual

(mark mcguinn)
She introduced herself as amy, said call me caroline for short
I just moved in three doors down so I wouldnt be the girl next door
And I knew the shoes she wasnt wearing fit her just right
She said, hey, man did you know that somebody left your grass out in the yard all night?
Shes unusually unusual
Absolutely unpredictable
Shes so different and thats whats wonderful
Shes unusually unusual
And thats beautiful to me
She had a tattoo above her ankle of a trident submarine
She said it symbolizes awesome powers hidden deep within our dreams
And her diamond eyes, different in color, held me captive in their light
And she said hey, man did you know we used to be brothers in some past life?
Shes unusually unusual
Absolutely unpredictable
Shes so different and thats whats wonderful
Shes unusually unusual
And thats beautiful to me
Some people may think shes strange, a different cup of tea
But she just does it for me
Shes unusually unusual
Absolutely unpredictable
Shes so different and thats whats wonderful
Shes unusually unusual
And thats beautiful to me

Be Ruthless The Law

Be punishment heavier than
The benefit caused by the wrong.
Be the punishment severer than
The pain caused by the crime.
Be the punishment double
For wrongs of the custodian of laws.
Ruthlessness is the characteristic
Of the law of enforcement.

No Lessons Learned

Death for causing death
You can't be lenient
A cold blooded slayer
Deserves capital punishment.
He snuffed out a life
With no hint of remorse
Extinguishing his life
Remains the only course.
He killed one
Still in its bud
Justice must be done
It bays for his blood.
The law takes its course
To the gallows he's sent
There's is no remorse
He deserved capital punishment.
Did it happen again?
Killing of an innocent?
It was no lesson
The capital punishment!

It seems proper, at all events, that by an early enactment similar to that of other countries the application of public money by an officer of Government to private uses should be made a felony and visited with severe and ignominious punishment.

Wrong

Born fragile, no virtue no comeliness, never wanted
In my youth I receive strength yet darkness surrounds me
None to look upon and none to love; never loved
What's wrong with me? He asks

The waters upon him pours
His breath he cannot find
And his eyes blinded, never to cease its flow
His iniquity he knows not
His punishment so severe

Penal Transportation: Forgotten Gaelic Slaves

Such a nice girl
funny she never married.
Such a nice girl
money purchases only pearls.

Not so convicts
transported by merchants
auctioned off
to plantation owners
upon arrival
in the American colonies.

Penal labour
was slave labour severe
physical
punishment... included
capital
punishment by flaying.

British French Spanish
colonial empires exploited
parts of North America
as penal colonies to cheaply...

develop an economically
underdeveloped
part of a state's colonial
territories. Slavery
even disguised as indentured
servitude of youth.

Many prisoners died
from excessive
labour, hunger, disease,
medical neglect
or during escape attempts.

It is estimated that 50,000
British convicts
were sent to colonial America
approximately
one-quarter of all British
emigrants
during the 18th century.

Wisdom
Sentimentality Sincerity.
Are free
inflating hearts that cannot
be free upon arrival
in colonial territories.

Voyages in linked chains
cannot rise
above treacherous currents
past embroiled
in conflict bitter misty
sentence dark green sea.

The United Kingdom deported its convicted criminals to her penal colonies in the Americas from the 1610s until the American Revolution in the 1770s. Dr John Dunmore Lang estimated 50,000 convicts were transported to North America, originally to New England. The majority were prisoners captured in battle who originated from Ireland or Scotland. Some were sold as slaves to the Southern states. See also ‘The Saga Of A Convict Lass’ the original template poem for a collage of poems, symbolic of collective convict suffering, yet unique experiences of individuals, during the penal transportation period; ‘Money Purchases Only Pearls’, ‘Flogged Upon Rack At Sea’ and ‘Sentenced For The Term Of Her Natural Life’ by Terence George Craddock.

Ch 08 On Rules For Conduct In Life - Maxim 66

Whoever does not betake himself to the path of rectitude in consequence of the castigations of this world will fall under eternal punishment in the next. Allah the most high has said: And we will cause them to taste the nearer punishment of this world besides the more grievous punishment of the next.

Admonition is the address of superiors and then fetters.
If they give advice and thou listenest not, they put thee in fetters.

Do you think I'm crazy doc?
cause the disparity with what I learned
versus what I know...oft times causes me
great internal conflict and strife?
Do you think I'm crazy doc?
cause I just don't get what it is to be quote-
unquote "normal" in America today?
Do you think I was sent to the Planet Earth
as a severe form of punishment this lifetime???
