When a philosopher says something that is true then it is trivial. When he says something that is not trivial then it is false.

There are trivial truths and the great truths. The opposite of a trivial truth is plainly false. The opposite of a great truth is also true.

What is the use of reading the common news of the day, the tragic deaths and abuses of daily living, when for over half a lifetime we have known that they must have occurred just as they have occurred given the conditions that cause them? There is no light in it. It is trivial fill-gap. We know the plane will crash, the train be derailed. And we know why. No one cares, no one can care. We get the news and discount it, we are quite right in doing so. It is trivial. But the haunted news I get from some obscure patient's eyes is not trivial. It is profound.

Trivial Misconception
An event is trivial for those
In whom triviality rests
A drawback
Which drops one back
Like static water in the pond
Budding endemics
But he who has the desire
Looks for monumental in trivial
He sees the lotus bloom
In endemic ponds womb.

No matter—now—Sweet
704
No matter—now—Sweet—
But when I'm Earl—
Won't you wish you'd spoken
To that dull Girl?
Trivial a Word—just—
Trivial—a Smile—
But won't you wish you'd spared one
When I'm Earl?
I shan't need it—then—
Crests—will do—
Eagles on my Buckles—
On my Belt—too—
Ermine—my familiar Gown—
Say—Sweet—then
Won't you wish you'd smiled—just—
Me upon?

Nature is Game for Life
Nature is game for life
no matter how small it is
how trivial each is.
it soon raises dust
to a creature, infuses its own thoughts
so that it livens up life.
look at the clouds in the sky,
sooner or later, the winds blow
them into shapes of birds, rabbits
and doggies....nature is game for life..
no matter how trivial they ar

We Bury Our Burdens
we carry a sack
full of everything
the trivial and not so trivial
to the others
which we sometimes
deem to be
important
we start cramping things
in a small pack
a pair of shoes, a plaque,
a bat, white polo shirt,
underwear, the certificates,
some poems even
a book about
romance with some
molds on the hard cover
where shall i bury all these things?
for i am moving to
another place
this morning
i wait for the high tide
or which comes first
the dusty early morning
on the road
this cranky motor vehicle
bound for the
dry mountain
where a hole is ready
tagging a shovel

Frivolous And Trivial Are Not The Same
Do you 'really' wish to know,
Just how frivolous these times we live...
Can be?
I am not out to prove this.
But it was you who stated with authority,
I was exaggerating!
And did so with sarcasism and negativity.
You have a TV I am sure?
Most people today have three.
Uplug your video games from one of them.
And tune into your news channels...
With a listening done to how your politicians,
Plan with your money...
To control your destiny.
After you've done that...
Tune into 'any' REALITY TV program.
These shows reflect,
With a bit of entertainment injected...
Just what is outside your door.
'First of all!
I did not say these times were frivolous.
I said they were trivial! '
Frivolous and trivial are not the same.
And I didn't have to go to college to know that! '
Ooooohhhh...
I see!
Forgive me.
How could I have ever mistaken the difference.
Sorry to interrupt your video game.
'No problem.
This is the only 'reality' I REALLY get.'

The authoritarian impulse is reasserting itself, to challenge free people and free societies, everywhere. In our own country, from the trivial to the truly dangerous, it is the range and regularity of the untruths we see that should be cause for profound alarm, and spur to action. Add to that the by-now predictable habit of calling true things false, and false things true, and we have a recipe for disaster. As George Orwell warned, "The further a society drifts from the truth, the more it will hate those who speak it." … The question of why the truth is now under such assault may well be for historians to determine. But for those who cherish American constitutional democracy, what matters is the effect on America and her people and her standing in an increasingly
unstable world — made all the more unstable by these very fabrications. What matters is the daily disassembling of our democratic institutions. We are a mature democracy — it is well past time that we stop excusing or ignoring — or worse, endorsing — these attacks on the truth. For if we compromise the truth for the sake of our politics, we are lost.

Salt Is.... Just Salty
There's so much in this world I cannot explain
The greatest scholars try in vain
Not because the knowledge is so loft
Not because we're growing soft
Nor because it's abstract
But in fact
Quite the opposite
Because some words there's just not a definition that can fit
The problem doesn't come from the objects
It's the simplicity that does perplex
Even the wisest of us all
Our logic does fall
Because it is so far below
How do we define the? What about slow
There's salt, and memory, and even know
What do we know if we don't know such words
People complain of jargon, taxonomic names for birds
But they can't even define what's simple
With that problem, man we got our hands full
We just cop out
Said that salt is salty, the is the, we live without
A real definition, but I think it's those words that are most profound
Belief, God Truth the list goes on, but this is where true wisdom is found
There's the trivial we can seek define
Or there's the words that matter most which will define
Us, it's those words I think that we should not just verbalize
But instead simply realize
That the definition is known by experience
It's indescribable because they're just that amazing
Our inexperience
Of what's unimportant is as tragic as not knowing
Our own Father, and the pursuit of other things to define us
Is as trivial as looking for a definition of truth.

Trivia Questions
Before you
there was nothing
and after
you, there will be nothing.
I've always told you, young lad,
how you remind me
of Lord Krishna.
As you bathe in the light of
nuclear holocaust,
your outstretched arms transform
into IV hangers.
The softest, most tranquil
valium
runs laps through
my nervous system.
Oh how the rays of misty light
look beautiful
on your expressionless forehead.
I just want to kiss them off.
Remember that one time we argued
because I wouldn't
follow
your advice?
I'm sorry. Please forget about it?
It was trivial. It was all trivial.
Trivia questions:
Who was the 9th president?
What is the 14th ammendment?
Who was Eva Braun?
In what year
did the poet
Carl Adam Ingwell die?
What were his major accomplishments?
Trivia.
All that matters right now
is that nothing matters.
But doesn't that mean that something
matters?
Let's just dance, you and I,
shoeless
upon these clouds of death.
What Stones Tell
What stones Tell
I follow a track in the landscape see stones dug up of soil. Clay clings
to them they look unhappy and exposed in the daylight. Need of a good
shower but there will not be rain for a while. Not that it matters this year
they will be churned into grit. They have been in dreamy limbo for eons,
the dream they dreamt will be a whisper in the wind. So walk softly and
listen well. TV, is full of trivial politics, photogenic, men in silk suits, easily
talk, they are our leaders of tomorrow. False promises will be forgotten,
dream time over when stark light of truth beckons. But their mendacity
and false dawns will murmur in the wind...

Frivolous Tonight
Let us talk about some trivial things we like
A bit of this and that
Lets chew the fat
Pour ourselves a glass of stout
And let our rael brook shirts hang out
Nothing makes us more content
To let us wallow in a bit of nonsense
Were all so frivolous tonight, tonight
Lets reveal our childlike nature
And leave our stocks and invoices to rot
Lets go to pot
Tell our jokes about mothers in law
But watch him jump when she comes through the door
Oh the party goes with a swing
When we talk about the trivial things
Were all so frivolous tonight
But theres always one
Who wants to talk shop
Well drive him through the door
With a broom or a mop
Let us tell our favourite story
About some poor chap who put it on display
Hip hooray
And let the girls gather in their slacks
To talk about husbands hairy backs
Some might think were a bit of a shower
But this could be our finest hour
Were all so frivolous tonight, tonight
Were all so ridiculous tonight.
