The Photograph
Hands old and poor, her back bent and sore,
She lifts from the drawer, the photograph
Though tattered and torn, through years it has worn,
But still bears the form of the man she knew
Her eyes are weak, spilling tears on her cheek
Her lips start to speak to the photograph
She tells him with pride, she still loves him inside
Though years ago died, la da da da
La, la da, la da, la da da, la da, la da da,
La la la da da,
La, la da, la da, la da da, la da, la da da,
La la la da da
And all of the people she knew, who she knows no more
Who dont know the score say,
We wonder why, she never married, such a
Pretty girl she was, such a lovely face she had,
Such a pretty thing she was, once
She turns to her right, to put out the light,
And wishes goodnight to the photograph
Her love, though its strong and lasted this long,
And goes on and on, shes still in love
La, la da, la da, la da da, la da, la da da,
La la la da da,
La, la da, la da, la da da, la da, la da da,
La la la da da

A photograph never grows old. You and I change, people change all through the months and years, but a photograph always remains the same. How nice to look at a photograph of mother or father taken many years ago. You see them as you remember them. But as people live on, they change completely. That is why I think a photograph can be kind.

Sight For Sore Eyes
Goin downtown, goin down, goin down
neath the city, eatin ground round
Underground is pretty gritty
I turned the screw she held the light
Thats when I knew she was a
Sight for sore eyes
She was a sight for sore eyes
Playin no fair, sleepin under stairs
Downtowns a pity, takin fair square
Under where its pretty gritty
I turned the screw, she held the knife
Oh, holy jesus, shes a sight for sore eyes
Sight for sore eyes
Shes a nitty grutty
Turnin in style, walk a mile for your titty
Naked foul while under there
Under where its pretty gritty
Hey, dont you know people
Shes a love lust hussy
She left, oh she rust me
Dear old girl
She was a sight for sore eyes
But she was sittin pretty
A sight for sore eyes
She was a nitty gritty
Sight for sore eyes
Peeled back and parted
Even at the start it was delight or demise
I feel like a leopard king
Sight for sore eyes
She was a sight for sore eyes

My Photograph
Of all the worldly goods I own,
Of all that I possess,
One photograph means more to me,
Much more than all the rest.
Who took this precious photograph
I couldn't really say;
I only know the subject is
More lovely than the day.
A face so radiant, so serene,
And known and loved so well;
This photograph I hold so dear,
I'd never give or sell.
True beauty comes from deep within,
It's something you can't buy;
It's captured on my photograph,
And cameras never lie.
It may be silly fancy,
And mock me if you will;
But when I choose to look at it
All time is standing still.
I know I'm looking at the past,
But I don't care, you see
My Mother's eyes are filled with love,
And looking right at me.

When I Look At You
When I look at you,
see your smiling face,
your beauty and your grace
in photograph upon photograph
reason tells me that you are only pretty,
but my heart sings another song;
one that captures laughter,
that catches the sparkle of the eye,
that looks romantically at a starry night,
that catches some serenity
at the gleaming firelight
and it becomes a thing
that goes to my centre core,
bringing both joy and pain
and the realization
that you make love real to me.

Carrying Your Love With Me
Wherever I go,
I carry your love with me
within a crumpled photograph
tucked in my wallet.
That photograph you gave me
so long ago.
It maybe old and faded,
the corners maybe bent,
but I see in that photo
all that love represents.
Our golden years together,
our happiness and pain,
and our love rescuing us
time and time again.
I remember our courting days
as we raced hand in hand
across the golden sadly beaches
towards our sunset together.
Though you reached that sunset before me,
no doubt I will follow you soon,
and we will be reunited
in each other’s arms.
However, in the meantime,
I have wonderful memories
locked within this old photograph,
and I keep carrying your love with me
wherever I may go.

This is me,
In a photograph,
The same number of
Senses as you have,
Look at me
With your eyes,
Touch me
& hear me
do not use
your heart yet
this is me again
she tells you
philanderer
lying bastard
unfaithful
you will listen
and you too will speak
about me
touch, retouch,
view, review,
impressions of me
beyond the photograph
what you believe
from what I am
how you perceive
some slides
of me
presented to you
this is me
this is not me
there will be
doubts
and I will die
laughing in
my forest dream
with your dwarfs
but soon
I will stop
What am
I and what I am
Not, what is
True from
What is fake
Finally when
I find
What true
Love is and
What it can
Really do
With my own
Dwarfs now
In my own
Dreams in
My own time
Even without
Your wishes.

Shes A Star
She comes to life from the cover of a hollywood magazine
With a sense of confidence hard to fight
She waits to be discovered
Underneath the cover of a neon night
Shes a star
All of my friends they got a bet she hasnt seen seventeen
I never been any good at playin the game
Id just love to give her what she needs besides fortune and fame
Shes a star
From the backstreets to the city
There youll find her lookin so pretty
First she buys you, then she sells ya
You know she wants you when shes telling you
*take me to the music
Out into the night
Drag me through the fire
Do it to me right*
She steps right out and grabs you like a cover girl photograph
Shell size you up then she hits you with those hollywood tears
But I dont need no close-up
To tell me she got style beyond her years
Shes a star
From the backstreets to the city
Youre gonna find her lookin so pretty
First she buys you, then she sells ya
You know she wants you when shes telling you

La la la la la la la la
Hes walking where Im afraid I dont know
I see the firemen jumping from the windows
Theres panic and I hear somebody scream
He picks up useless paper and puts it in my pocket
Im trying very hard to keep my fingers clean
I cant remember tell me whats his name
(my name is michael caine)
And all I wanted was a word or photograph to keep at home
And all I wanted was a word or photograph to keep
The sun is laughing its another broken morning
I see a shadow and call out to try and warn him
He didnt seem to hear just turned away
The quiet fellow follows
And points his finger straight at you
He had to sacrifice his pride, yes
And throw it all away
(I am micheal caine)
And all I wanted was a word or photograph to keep at home
And all I wanted was a word or photograph to keep
His days are numbered he walks round and round in circles
There is no place he can ever call his own
He seems to jump at the sound of the phone
Staring out the window theres nothing he can now do
All he wanted was to remain sane
He cant remer hisemb own name
(my name is michael caine)
And all I wanted was a word or photograph to keep at home
And all I wanted was a word or photograph to keep
All I wanted was a word or photograph
All I wanted was a word or photograph to keep

The Place of Forgotten Memories
For years I’ve put odds and sods up into the roof space,
like old books, photographs, and the odd vase.
When my parents died I also put their memorabilia up there,
and now my loft holds many memories from over the years.
My grandson ventured up there and came down with a photograph,
he asked me why his picture was not in colour, and I began to laugh.
Of course it wasn’t him in the photograph it was his great granddad,
the resemblance was uncanny, which made me kind of sad.
The picture of my granddad was taken at the age of nine,
the same age as my grandson at this particular time.
I remember my granddad well especially in his later years,
and seeing him in my grandson fills me with tears.

Pretty Boy
I lie awake at night
See things in black and white
I've only got you inside my mind
You know you have made me blind
I lie awake and pray
That you will look my way
I have all this longing in my heart
I knew it right from the start
Oh my pretty pretty boy I love you
Like I never ever loved no one before you
Pretty pretty boy of mine
Just tell me you love me too
Oh my pretty pretty boy
I need you
Oh my pretty pretty boy I do
Let me inside
Make me stay right beside you
I used to write your name
And put it in a frame
And sometime I think I hear you call
Right from my bedroom wall
You stay a little while
And touch me with your smile
And what can I say to make you mine
To reach out for you in time
Oh my pretty pretty boy I love you
Like I never ever loved no one before you
Pretty pretty boy of mine
Just tell me you love me too
Oh my pretty pretty boy
I need you
Oh my pretty pretty boy I do
Let me inside
Make me stay right beside you
[BRIDGE]
Oh pretty boy
Say you love me too
Oh my pretty pretty boy I love you
Like I never ever loved no one before you
Pretty pretty boy of mine
Just tell me you love me too
Oh my pretty pretty boy
I need you
Oh my pretty pretty boy I do
Let me inside
Make me stay right beside you

Ooh La La
(ron wood, ronnie lane, 1973)
[vocals by ronnie lane]
Poor old granddad I laughed at all his words
I thought he was a bitter man
He spoke of womens ways
Theyll trap you, then they use you before you even know
For love is blind and youre far too kind
Dont ever let it show
I wish that I knew what I know now
When I was younger.
I wish that I knew what I know now
When I was stronger.
The can-can such a pretty show
Will steal your heart away
But backstage back on earth again
The dressing rooms are grey
They come on strong and it aint too long
For they make you feel a man
But love is blind and you soon will find
Youre just a boy again
When you want her lips, you get her cheek
Makes you wonder where you are
If you want some more then shes fast asleep
Youre just twinkling with the stars.
Poor young grandson, theres nothing I can say
Youll have to learn, just like me
And thats the hardest way, ooh la la
Ooh la la, la la, yeah
I wish that I knew what I know now
When I was younger.
I wish that I knew what I know now
When I was stronger.

Little Girl in the Window
There's a little girl in a window looking sweetly at you
She know you and admires you
Yet you don't even know her name
She quietly sits by you in class and wtaches you in the halls
Never talking, just writing
She loves you, don't you know?
But you can't even see it,
You don't see her.
The girl is loosing hope in all she knew
For school is almost over and you'll be gone forever
She knows that she's not pretty enough,
That she's too quiet
Yet she still loves to watch you from her window,
Always having to look in, never wanted
Now it's 2049,30 years have passed
You casually talk to your friends again at your reunion
A girl you once knew tells about the girl in the window
She committed suicide...
As you finally see this little girl, read her things
You realize who she truly was
You finally see the little girl in the window.
Except she is still 14
And you 48
You see that was was pretty and amazing
Yet you neer knew
With the truth known,
You look once more at this girl
And offer her a silent prayer
Saying the final goodbye to the little girl in the window

Since Youve Been Gone
J. spinks
Since youve been gone
Theres something I wanna say
Since youve been gone
Theres no one taking your place
Since youve been gone
Ive just been foolin around
Since youve been gone
This worlds been turned upside down
Didnt think Id find a girl that I could not forget
Anything we started not so long ago - aint over yet
Since youve been gone
Staring at your photograph
And I know it wont be long
An I know youre coming back
You turned me on
Since the first time I set eyes on you
You turned me on
Ooh the things you want me to do
Dont get me wrong
cos youre not the only girl Ive ever had
But since youve been gone
Girl you know the thought of yous driving me mad
All I do is think of you I lie awake - lie awake
And no matter how I try this loneliness - you know I cant take
Since youve been gone
Staring at your photograph
And I know it wont be long
An I know youre coming back
Since youve been gone
Theres something I wanna say
Since youve been gone
Theres no one to stand in my way
Since youve been gone
So scared of losing this time
Since youve been gone
Girl you know that I cant get you out of my mind
Since youve been gone
Staring at your photograph
And I know that I was wrong
An I know youre coming back
Since youve been gone
Tried my best to read between the lines
If some things are hard to say
You better tell me one more time
Since youve been gone
Since youve been gone

Loneliness Game
She could have anything
But still shes down
The happiness that means everything
Is not around
On the outside
It looks like a perfect world
Inside I know what youre thinking
Shes too pretty to be sad
Shes too rich to cry
Shes no different
Shes just the same
No ones left out of this loneliness game
She cant find her way out of the loneliness game
No she cant find love
Pearls dont mean a thing
When loves not there
No gold or diamond rings
Can stop the tears
From the outside
You couldnt feel her pain
Inside I know what youre thinking
Shes too pretty to be sad
Shes too rich to cry
Shes no different
Shes just the same
No ones left out of this loneliness game
She cant find her way out of the loneliness game
No she cant find love
In the loneliness game, the loneliness game
She lies awake at night
Alone in silence
She reaches for the light
And waits for guidance
Shes too pretty to be sad
Shes too rich to cry
Shes no different, shes just the same
No ones left out of this loneliness game
She cant find her way out of this loneliness game
No she cant buy love
In the loneliness game, the loneliness game ...

The Memories of the Greater Good
Get out of the way.
Just let me take the bullet for you.
One mistake
That is all it takes.
Then it all over.
Waking up sober.
The reality.
Get ready.
Hold on to my cape.
Let me give you my escape.
Go before it's to late.
Don't look back.
Their is not time to second guess.
Just react.
The rain washes all these thoughts away.
I was just looking into another photograph in a my album.
The memories have each their own little sound.
As a bird chips in a melody.
So do these great harmony.
They're you were.
Sitting by the pool all alone.
So I just went right up and started talking to you.
Breaking the ice with a smile.
I had no since of style.
The shyness I fought through.
The fog moved.
So focused on getting to the bottom of what was wrong.
What was this pretty attractive young girl moping around for.
Then I met him.
And It all became so clear.
The face of many beings.
Each a different narcissist.
A falling out, the had already been spread.
It started to grow.
It started to sprout.
Peeking it ugly head out of the ground.
The rain washes all these thoughts away.
I was just looking into another photograph in a my album.
The memories have each their own little sound.
As a bird chips in a melody.
So do these great harmony.
It was too late things were put into motion.
With love as my devotion.
I made a sacrifice, the first of many.
I took a dive and let him beat the hell out of me.
For I was smart enough to know what would happen next.
His evil intentions shown.
No longer was he in control.
The spell had been broken.
He hated me, he tried to destroy me many times.
Personally, mentally, objectively.
I took his girl right before his eyes.
It didn't last long but it didn't matter because it was to protect her.
It was to make her stronger..
She would no longer believe any of his lies.
The rain washes all these thoughts away.
I was just looking into another photograph in a my album.
The memories have each their own little sound.
As a bird chips in a melody.
So do these great harmony.
He could no longer hide behind his ego.
He was exposed.
That was the first of many stabs and jabs I took at him.
Mortal enemies.
By his character.
The code he live by.
They say judge not, unless you want to be judged.
But the things he did I couldn't just look the other way.
I should have left someone else be the hero of the day.
Then maybe she would be with me.
But for the greater good was my destiny.
The rain washes all these thoughts away.
I was just looking into another photograph in a my album.
The memories have each their own little sound.
As a bird chips in a melody.
So do these great harmony.
I already knew it before I intervened.
Even now I don't think I would have changed a thing.
For there was happiness in which I brought.
Their was never another a broken smile from her.
Not like that one.
Always laughing, always looking to be entertained.
Seeking the next best thing.
Loneliness would never settle well.
And this was her down fall.
Not by him but other men.
Quick to jump on the band wagon.
She was damaged, by a blonde hair, blue eyed demon.
So pretty on the outside.
Some say he looked liked johnny depp.
I don't see the resemblance.
But just maybe.
The rain washes all these thoughts away.
I was just looking into another photograph in a my album.
The memories have each their own little sound.
As a bird chips in a melody.
So do these great harmony.

Isnt It Midnight
Written by christine mcvie.
So cool, calm and collected
You had a style, a rakish style
Well my poor heart never connected
Youd stay so long on my mind.
Well, isnt it midnight on the other side of the world
Do you remember t
The face of a pretty girl
The face of a pretty girl
Looking back so long ago
You had a knack, a knack of making women know
Ooh there wasnt the time
And I knew youd nver be mine
Well, isnt it midnight on the other side of the world
Do you remember
The face of a pretty girl
The face of a pretty girl
The face of a pretty girl
Isnt it midnight on the other side of the world
Do you remember
The face of a pretty girl
The face of a pretty girl
The face of a pretty girl

Yo - Yo
There are many different people,
Livin double lives.
One for the office,
And one that they take home to their wives.
He sits in the armchair, watching channel 4,
With his brains not expected home for an hour or more.
Hes still drifting to and fro, like a yo-yo.
His wife is in the kitchen, fixin her old mans tea
Shes thinking to herself,
Hes not the man that married me, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
They used to laugh together, now hes never at home.
Now shes fighting back the tears, she cant even laugh alone.
Shes just sitting by the telephone, like a yo-yo.
You needed me when you were crying,
But now youre laughing Im the last thing on your mind.
First you love me, then you dont.
Im up and down,
Like a yo-yo.
Yo-yo.
Ah, you thought you knew me pretty well,
But with people like me you never can tell.
You can only guess which way Ill go.
You got me sussed, but you dont know,
Im a yo-yo.
Just like a yo-yo on a string.
Im a yo-yo.
Little child playing with a yo-yo.
Yo-yo, yo-yo.
Girl you had me dangling, like a yo-yo on a string,
But with you at the controls I could accomplish anything, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
You were just playing, I was a little boy,
But when I grew into a man you just threw away your toy,
Like a yo-yo.
Yo-yo.
You might be popular, but it wont last for long,
So dont give up the day job, in case it all goes wrong.
Look at your ego, watch it go, up and down,
Like a yo-yo.
Yo-yo.
You needed me when you were crying,
But now youre laughing Im the last thing on your mind.
First you love me, then you dont.
Im up and down,
Like a yo-yo.
Yo-yo.
Im a yo-yo (yo-yo).
Like a yo-yo.

The Photograph
She sat on the platform bench
waiting for a train to arrive.
Waiting to see her brother
who left to start a new life
twenty-five years ago.
She brought a photograph of herself
for him to have when he went back home.
Stillness engulfed the station
as she waited alone there.
The hiss of an old steam train
filled the quiet air
as along the track it came
like a dinosaur from the past
and stopped at the station.
A group of young soldiers
disembarked to stretch their legs
and grab some fresh air.
One young soldier approached her.
He was sixteen if he was a day.
He smiled as he sat beside her.
“You’re a pretty lady.” He said.
“Thank you.” She replied. “Off to fight some battles? ”
“Yes, but I am not really sure where.
They say a lot of us might not be coming back”
“That is sad.” She replied.
“Especially when you have no one
to think of you.”
“You see I am an orphan
and have no family or a girlfriend come to that.
No one to think of me
when the great battles come.”
“Now that is sad, ” She said looking at him.
Then she realized the photograph
for her brother was in her handbag.
She reached in and removed it.
“Take this and think of me
when your great battles come.”
“I will keep it with me always.
Now I must get back on the train.”
As the train whistle blew.
He waved goodbye as the steam engulfed him.
Then the train was gone
as quickly as it had come.
The stillness that had engulfed the station
now dissipated to.
Suddenly there was noise everywhere.
She looked around
as if waking from a dream.
She looked back down the tracks.
The mournful hoot of the electric horn
herald the arriving electric train.
She watched it intensely
as it slowed to stop at the station.
Two passengers alighted,
a man and a woman.
Her brother and his wife.
She greeted them with a smile,
but her brother’s wife looked at her in shock
as if she had seen a ghost.
They hugged one another,
and then left the station
to go to her home.
Arriving at her home
her sister-in-law looked at her again.
“Sorry if I look mystified when I look at you.
I have something I must tell you.
My grandfather before he died
asked me to find any relatives
to a lady in a photograph.
It was given to him
when he was leaving to go to war
over seventy years ago.
He carried it with him everywhere he went.
He said the photograph protected him
like a good luck charm.
He swore one day to return it,
but events made that impossible.
He immigrated when the war was over
and never got the chance.
He wanted to let her family know
of the kind deed she did”
“But that does not explain
the way you looked at me.”
She removed the photograph
and handed it to her.
It was the photograph
she had given the young soldier
only hours before.

Girl
(coverdale/marsden/murray)
I have never known a woman
Who loves me like you do,
You treat me like a dog
An make me shake my tail for you
I know the game youre playing
When youre turning all your tricks
Its written on your face
You just want your business fixed
No, I dont need a crystal ball
To see whats in your mind
If I dont give you what you want
You treat me so unkind,
But if Im good and give you love
You throw me down a bone,
But if Im bad you make me sad
An leave my love alone
Pretty little crazy white girl,
Just a pretty little crazy white girl,
Pretty little crazy white girl
Girl, girl
Pretty little crazy white girl
I know, baby, you aint fooling
With all your high class schooling,
You want everything your own way
If I could, I would
Do every little thing a good man should,
Baby, Id really give it to you
Every day
Pretty little crazy white girl,
Just a pretty little crazy white girl,
Pretty little crazy white girl
Girl...
Mean mistreater,
There aint no one to beat you,
But you treat me so bad
Ive never known a woman
Who loves me like you do,
You treat me like a dog
An still I shake my tail for you
Pretty little crazy white girl,
Just a pretty little crazy white girl,
Pretty little crazy white girl
Girl, girl...
Pretty little crazy white girl,
Girl, she treat me so bad
Pretty little crazy white girl,
Girl, come on baby
Pretty little crazy white girl,
I love the way you make me
Girl...
Pretty little crazy white girl,
Girl...
Pretty little crazy white girl
