Teeny Tiny Gnome

Kickin stones on an old dirt road
Feelin d-dejected and all alone
When I looked up ahead thought my mind Id blown
On a giant toadstool sat a teeny tiny gnome
He was all involved in a game of solitaire
Said hello with a smile just like I wasnt there
I kicked dirt some more
He said please dont start a fight.
Found a church key in his pocket, he opened up his pipe
He blew some silver circles,
Wound his fingers in his beard
And from that pipe came magic music
Like Id never heard
As the notes came floatin in I pricked up both my ears
I walked up to the drive-in, hadnt felt so starved in years
A rabbit waiter took my order and quickly disappeared
He said the partys over,
Please come back in a thousand years.

Blind Prayer

(rod stewart)
I was born and raised the only son of a lawyer
Till I was approximately the age of four or perhaps five
I lost both my mother and my father
Killed in a fire way up on the fourteenth floor
Struck down by the time I was ten by an illness
Which robbed me of the sight of the morning sun
And that aint all
A homeless child for the next five years
With my dog clown by my side and my only friend
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
I fought my way through school
Sound and touch the thing on which I could depend
And you know what the, the, the kids
Down my street werent too playful
And right then it seemed like the whole world picked on me
And ah yeah
I worked my fingers to the bone
Stretchin hide for a boot man in jersey town
But then, but then I lost the last thing I had
When fate reared its ugly head and took my dog clown
I wandered way up north found a girl that loved like a woman
Sixteen years old and felt like a woman
But, but, but, but, but what Im trying to say is
God please dont take her away from me
I lost everything that I ever had
You kicked my name into the dirt
Tread my name into the dirt yeah
I lost everything that I ever had
You kicked my name into the dirt
What could I do
I never knew how much love could hurt me
But it never ever come my way before
No, no, no, no, no
I never knew how much love could hurt me
Good God it aint never come my way before
Oh but, but you know what Im trying to say
Really what Im trying to say is
God please dont take her away from me
Ah turn it down
I lost everything that I ever had
You kicked my name into the dirt
You got a lotta lotta lost everything
That I ever had ever had

Hey Jealousy

(doug hopkins)
Tell me do you think itd be all right
If I could just crash here tonight
You can see Im in no shape for driving
And anyway Ive got no place to go
And you know it might not be that bad
You were the best Id ever had
If I hadnt blown the whole thing years ago
I might not be alone
Tomorrow we can drive around this town
And let the cops chase us around
The past is gone but something might be found
To take its place...hey jealousy
And you can trust me not to think
And not to sleep around
If you dont expect too much from me
You might not be let down
Cause all I really want is to be with you
Feeling like I matter too
If I hadnt blown the whole thing years ago
I might be here with you
Tomorrow we can drive around this town
And let the cops chase us around
The past is gone but something might be found
To take its place...hey jealousy
She took my heart
Theres only one thing I couldnt start

On The Old Dirt Road

Writers: leo sayer & frank farrell
On the old dirt road
Without a care
Gotta sixpence in my pocket
Oh Im a millionairre
Oh and I would do anything to go back there
On the old dirt road
Oh my brother and me
We make a mess all weekend
Till sunday eve
Oh and I am travelling through the past
Oh and I can see myself face to face in the looking glass
Playing in the dust
I havent got a care
And nobody makes a fuss
cos theres no one there
On the old dirt road
I got no name
Build a castle wall
Knock it down again
Oh and I am a child again
Oh and I dont need to pretend
Oh I hear you cry
Go back to sleep
But I cant make it stop
cos its not a dream
Playing in the dust
I havent got a care
And nobody makes a fuss
cos theres no one there
On the old dirt road
Im a millionairre
Gotta sixpence in my pocket
Havent got a care
On the old dirt road
I aint got no name
I build a castle wall
Knock it down again
Oh and I would do anything to go back there again
Oh and I -- Im a child again

A Red Dirt Life

I went for a ride the other day
Sun shown bright as could be
Shining right on the red dirt road
There is nothing more cheerful to me

Past the red dirt farmhouses
Down the valley so red
A smile was on my face
For I knew what was ahead

The green trees stood out starkly
With the wonderful red color
Huge red rock and plateau’s
Nothing like any other

It was a ride that I take often
For I have a great red dirt time
Perhaps you too would enjoy
A red dirt life like mine!

Seans In The Sky

-daddy, when did we have no house?
-when?
-when, when did we have no house and we rented this house?
-in 1973, we didnt have this house, yet, thats when we bought this house
-oh!
-two years before you were born
-oh, and I just wasnt coming with you? to find this house?
-no, well you werent born yet. you were still in the sky.
-oh, and when I came back, was down here, what did I went in?
-a little, a little cardboard box. with a little blanket in, little teeny tiny
Teeny tiny little boy in a little tiny cardboard box. they used to have apples in it, hmm
You used to do this here.
-a apple box!
-well, a little cardboard box, you see. like they bring groceries in. and it was you instead of the groceries.

His Red Dirt Life

So many red dirt roads he’s traveled
Along his long red dirt life
Children born and raised with
His charming red dirt wife

A home was built and furnished
Upon his red dirt land
He’s done the very best he could
Always taking a red dirt stand

Red dirt roads that lead up to
A bridge to the other side
He tries to go right with the flow
Along life’s red dirt ride

And during that ride it seems
There are some pot holes in the road
But he just keep pluggin’ along you see
Just carrying his red dirt load

The streams and valleys continue
Until the end of his red dirt time
And when the sun beats down on him
He loves to see that red dirt shine!

Red Dirt Ride

I took a little red dirt ride
Along a quiet country road
Peacefulness I felt deep inside
As I watched my day unfold

A red dirt pond all alone
With red dirt cattle too
I felt a sense of belonging
I’d like to share with you

Rock sprouting from the land
Like a sculpture tall and true
Yes, peacefulness I felt inside
And I think you’d feel it too

The sun shone so brightly
Upon my red dirt world
The day was just for me
As calm inside me furled

One thing that I can count on
When I need to take in stride
Problems that come my way
I simply take a red dirt ride!

Red Dirt Forever!

Nothing is quite as relaxing
As having a red dirt day
The color gleaming brightly
As I go along my way

A pond surrounded by red dirt
Creates a smile upon my face
I never can remember
A more peaceful kind of place

An old barn in the sunshine
Surrounded by deep red dirt
Happy families lived for years
Yes, tribulations came in spurts

As I look across the fields
I’m so proud of what I see
All this brilliant red dirt land
Still smiles happily on me

For you see, nothing matters
Except this world that I treasure
And I truly will be happy on
My Red Dirt Forever!

Shakespeare’s Grave

Doggerel,' he thought, 'will do for church-wardens,
Poetry's precious enough not to be wasted,'
And rhymed it all out with a skew smile:
'Spare these stones. Curst be he that moves my bones-
Will hold the hands of masons and grave-diggers.'
But why did the good man care? For he wanted quietness.
He had tasted enough life in his time
To stuff a thousand; he wanted not to swim wide
In waters, nor wander the enormous air,
Nor grow into grass, enter through the mouths of cattle
The bodies of lusty women and warriors,
But all be finished. He knew it feelingly; the game
Of the whirling circles had become tiresome.
'Annihilation's impossible, but insulated
In the church under the rhyming flagstone
Perhaps my passionate ruins may be kept off market
To the end of this age. Oh, a thousand years
Will hardly leach,' he thought, 'this dust of that fire.'

Ive Found A Reason

Written by ricky & kim wilde
Been a long time alone now
Only live every day on my own terms
Doing everything my way
If you dont understand you had to learn
You say you see a different world
That you dont believe in what I say
Now you walk into my world
Aware of the danger
But you wont turn away
Somewhere down the road I left a part of me behind
The girl you want to know left years ago
Before she lost her mind
You brought back the heart in me
I thought Id never find
cos I didnt care before
But now Ive found a reason
Baby, how did you find me
Ive been lost for so long without a trace
You came back to remind me
Got me back from a sad and lonely place
And all the ghosts have disappeared
Youve taken away the things Ive feared
Ive turned my back on all the pain
You gave me a reason to llive my life again
Somewhere down the road I left a part of me behind
The girl you want to know left years ago
Before she lost her mind
You brought back the heart in me
I thought Id never find
cos I didnt care before
But now Ive found a reason
You were there before my eyes
How could I have been so blind
Ive got one life
Ive been wasting time
You came to save this heart of mine
And all the ghosts have disappeared
Youve taken away the things Ive feared
Ive turned my back on all the pain
You gave me a reason to llive my life again
Somewhere down the road I left a part of me behind
The girl you want to know left years ago
Before she lost her mind
You brought back the heart in me
I thought Id never find
cos I didnt care before
But now Ive found a reason
Now Ive found a reason

Fresh Dirt

They were relieved!
They had finally found something negative,
To hold against me.
I was relieved too.
They can finally find something to do with their lives.
They had been searching for years.
I did the best I could to leave some dirt on the surface.
I had to redo most of it.
Since I wanted them to find fresh dirt.
And an opportunity to do 'something' else,
Before they ran out of time...
To at least catch up with it!
And I'm still accused of being thoughtless.
I can't believe it!
And that dirt was at least three or four years old.
Well...
It was the best I could do!

The Mystery Of Mister Smith

For supper we had curried tripe.
I washed the dishes, wound the clock;
Then for awhile I smoked my pipe -
Puff! Puff! We had no word of talk.
The Misses sewed - a sober pair;
Says I at last: "I need some air."

A don't know why I acted so;
I had no thought, no plot, no plan.
I did not really mean to go -
I'm such a docile little man;
But suddenly I felt that I
Must change my life or I would die.

A sign I saw: A ROOM TO LET.
It had a musty, dusty smell;
It gloated gloom, it growled and yet
Somehow I felt I liked it well.
I paid the rent a month ahead:
That night I smoked my pipe in bed.

From out my world I disappeared;
My walk and talk changed over-night.
I bought black glasses, grew a beard -
Abysmally I dropped from sight;
Old Tax Collector, Mister Smith
Became a memory, a myth.

I see my wife in widow's weeds;
She's gained in weight since I have gone.
My pension serves her modest needs,
She keeps the old apartment on;
And living just a block away
I meet her nearly every day.

I hope she doesn't mourn too much;
She has a sad and worried look.
One day we passed and chanced to touch,
But as with sudden fear I shook,
So blankly in my face she peered,
I had to chuckle in my beard.

Oh, comfort is a blessed thing,
But forty years of it I had.
I never drank the wine of Spring,
No moon has ever made me mad.
I never clutched the skirts of Chance
Nor daftly dallied with Romance.

And that is why I seek to save
My soul before it is too late,
To put between me and the grave
A few years of fantastic fate:
I've won to happiness because
I've killed the man that once I was.

I've murdered Income Taxer Smith,
And now I'm Johnny Jones to you.
I have no home, no kin, no kith,
I do the things I want to do.
No matter though I've not a friend,
I've won to freedom in the end.

Bohemian born, I guess, was I;
And should my wife her widowhood
By wedlock end I will not sigh,
But pack my grip and go for good,
To live in lands where laws are lax,
And innocent of Income Tax.

Look At Me!

Look at me!
Go ahead.
Look at me.

I only exist...
To have your eyes on my lips,
Legs, butt and thighs.
Wherever you decide to probe.
And...
From my head to my toes,
You analyze regardless of my discomfort felt.
I only exist...
For you to criticize.

Look at me!
As if to read a book you skim through quickly.
To find if there is dirt to discover,
Smothered under the surface.
And not fresh dirt.
You like your dirt old and moldy.

Look at me!
Look at me to examine each hair I have.
And where that hair is,
On my path as I pass.

Look at me!
And if your findings should disappoint...
I am sure,
Something that is not there to see...
Will be!
If you have anything to do with it!

The Mouse and the Grouse

The teeny, tiny mouse said to the finely feathered grouse
“I’d like to come and visit you in your lofty, lovely house.”
The finely feathered grouse smiled at the teeny, tiny mouse
And said, “You can’t since I'm saving it for my future spouse.”

The sad teeny, tiny mouse said, as tears started to douse,
“I’m lonely and just wanted to say hello, finely feathered grouse.”
Well, the finely feathered grouse with his lofty, lovely house
Was lonely too since he hadn’t yet found his future spouse.

But how could a mouse so teeny, tiny and a grouse so fine of feather
Ever visit each other and have a talk together?
They had nothing in common and their lives had different starts.
Although one thing was the same; they both had hurting hearts.

No one had ever visited the finely feathered grouse
And he did like friendly words uttered by the teeny, tiny mouse.
As mister mouse gazed aloft, sir grouse returned that smile
And suddenly blurted out, “Come on up and we’ll chat for awhile.”

Overjoyed, the teeny, tiny mouse jumped, but just bumped the tree.
Then tears wet ears to tail as teeny tiny moaned mournfully,
“You can fly free through the air, but alas, I’m earthbound.
There’s no hope since you live in a tree, but my house is on the ground.”

Suddenly, a star from the heavens flashed an idea for these two.
Perhaps they could visit together if both tried something new.
The finely feathered grouse left his lofty, lovely house
And eagerly landed in a bush near the star struck tiny mouse.
In one hop teeny, tiny leapt toward the bush, and I’ve heard tell
That the friendship of grouse and mouse has been doing very well.

Hopeless Bleak Despair

I never knew what everybody meant by endless, hopeless bleak despair
Until one day when I found out
The first time I ever left my house
It saw me and followed me home
And stayed with me for my whole life
For years and years I wandered the earth
Condemned to a life of bleak despair
Then one day I looked around and found
It had disappeared
All this bleak despair
It was always there
And then one day it disappeared
In a puff of smoke
In an unceremonious way
One day it disappeared
All I had ever wanted in my life was only to be free of it
It drove away my family
It made me lose my job
Whenever anybody saw it
Theyd say get out of here
For years and years I wandered the earth
Sick of my life, looking forward to death
The one day I looked around and found
It had disappeared
All this bleak despair
It was always there
And then one day it disappeared
In a puff of smoke
In an unceremonious way
One day it disappeared
For years and years I wandered the earth
Until I died and went to hell but my
Despair had ascended to heaven
Thats how I finally got rid of it

Beware of the dirt bike
Because I hear theyre coming to our town
Theyve got plans for everyone
And now I hear theyre over their sophomore jinx, so you had better check it out
All hail the dirt bike
Philosopher dirt bike
Silence as we gathered round
We saw the word and were on our way
Now its
Brain washing dirt bike
Ground shaking dirt bike
Mind bending dirt bike
In control
Soul crushing dirt bike
Self propelled dirt bike
You see I never thought Id understand
til that bike took me by the hand
Now I ride

I Aint Trippin

I was told not long ago
Too $hort dont stop that rap!
Now everytime I grab the mic
I rock you just like that
8 years ago when I started to rap
I use to sell tapes everywhere
It was me and my homeboy freddy b, yoo
Kickin it like big players
Everybody loved my raps like 100 dollar bills
I rocked houseparties on 98th
Even rocked in 69 vill
Might find me on the mic at hot lips house
Or at the eastbay dragonspot
All the 85th boys with their hand in the air
Screamin too $hort just dont stop!
Like royal park, like plymouth rock
First street and sunnyside
Like sobrante park and brookefield
East oakland, yeah, thats right
5 years ago I continued to rock
And if you havent yet heard my name
It was all in the papers, on the evening news
I was stone cold in the game
Around that time a friend of mine
My homeboy lionel b hooked me up like this, yoo
On the stage just rockin the beat
Some say I have a dirty mind
Sometimes that might be true
But these are just some dirty times
I aint trippin on you...
I aint trippin, keep on talkin
You think Im smokin that pipe
I got money, homeboy
I even got some of your future wifes
Well, my story goes like this, man
I smooth went out on wax
Singin girl, thats your life
Female funk and shortrapp
Silky d worked the beat kicked me cold cash
I was ridin the bus one day
Next day I was on the gas
Everybody loved too $hort
Rollin down the strip
Then one day just like that
Homeboy jumped on my tip
You started spreadin rumors, man
Said you saw me rappin in jail
No, I never came down to the flatlands
I was chillin with the homies from the hill
I aint trippin but the word went out
Sir too $hort was through
Cant really say where it all began
So ima blamin it all on you
Everybody use to say
Too $hort dont stop that rap!
Now everytime you see my face
You say Im smokin crack
Oakland, california, I heard it all before
Im makin big bank now, rockin the crowd
I aint trippin no more...
Now Im back on top again
I still dont stop that rap
Everytime I grab the mic
My bankrolls gettin fat
Freaky tales took care of that
You know Im comin up
Cause everytime you see my face
Im rollin all so tough
When I made the cut...the-he-he freaky tales
I started picturin this
I named my album born to mack
With the cleaniest raps and beats
Everythin was kickin in
Me and ran kept cashin checks
Next thing I know there you go
Guess whos on my tip?
You said I just got out of jail
Jumped right back on that pipe
Your sisters boyfriend told you, man
Im smokin every night
Then you came to my show
And stood there so damn bold
You said too $hort, man, you smoking
And Im standin here dreamin gold
I aint trippin no more
Really aint worth my time
So to squashed it off I kicked on back
And wrote you all the rhyme
Benzes rollin, beemers jettin
And caddies keep on dippin
You keep on talkin all that crap
I aint trippin...

Country Red Dirt Road

Down that red dirt road
Off to the side I see
Cattle gracing in herds
Staring sweetly at me

Yes, the red dirt takes us
Past old farmyard barns
Farmers standing ‘round
Spinning red dirt yarns

Daisies waving by the side
Of the red dirt road so fresh
Brilliant colors perfectly
Blend in with all the rest

More cows by the fence
Watch as I go by
Driving a red dirt road
Sure does make time fly!

A Kind Of Magic

Words and music by roger taylor
Its a kind of magic
Its a kind of magic
A kind of magic
One dream one soul one prize one goal
One golden glance of what should be
Its a kind of magic
One shaft of light that shows the way
No mortal man can win this day
Its a kind of magic
The bell that rings inside your mind
Is challenging the doors of time
Its a kind of magic
The waiting seems eternity
The day will dawn of sanity
Is this a kind of magic
Its a kind of magic
There can be only one
This rage that lasts a thousand years
Will soon be done
This flame that burns inside of me
Im here in secret harmonies
Its a kind of magic
The bell that rings inside your mind
Is challenging the doors of time
Its a kind of magic
Its a kind of magic
The rage that lasts a thousand years
Will soon be will soon be
Will soon be done
This is a kind of magic
There can be only one
This rage that lasts a thousand years
Will soon be done-done
Magic - its a kind of magic
Its a kind of magic
Magic magic magic magic
Ha ha ha its magic

Old Dirt Road

Aint no people on the old dirt road
No more weather on the old dirt road
Its better than a mudslide mamma when the dry spell come, yeah
Oh oh oh old dirt road
Aint no difference on the old dirt road
Tarred and feathered on the old dirt road
Trying to shovel smoke with a pitchfork in the wind, yeah yeah yeah
Breezing thru the deadwood on a hot summer day
I saw a human being lazybonin out in the hay
I said uh, hey mr. human can ya rainmaker too?
He said I guess its o.k. ya know the only thing we need is water
Cool, clear water, water
Aint no people on the old dirt road
No more weather on the old dirt road
Better than a mudslide mamma when the morning comes, yeah
Oh oh oh oh old dirt road
Keep on keeping on
Keep on keeping on
So long, so long
Bye bye
