The Bollmanator
You sit on your desk
Starring at us like a hawk looking for food
You snd us to lunch 10 minutes late
We come back and you room smells
Smells like rat urine
You give us tons of homework because of
Of your personal problems
You are the bollmister
You make us do bellwork
You always growl at my class
You can't wait but to yell at us for causing destruction to your calculators
You are the Bollmanator
Or the cause of my horrible life
You pick either one works

My Luck Abandoned Me
Ever since I set foot in school for my new academic year
It looks like luck has abandoned me
My bus came late to pick me up for school
So guess who is punished, me!
In the first few days we were given so much homework,
So many projects to make,
So many tests to prepare for
I thought my head would break
The teachers are very strict
And on craft items, my pocket-money I will have to spend
And nowadays the level of homework given has increased so much
That doing your homework is the latest trend
What’s more, to make matters even worse
My best friends have been shuffled now
I want to see them, but where’s the time
To them how can I talk, how?
And these days I am always
Forgetting to do my homework
Now my memory’s failing me
And all I can do is sulk
I can describe class V
In nothing but a deep sigh
Wait I just remembered I forgot,
To do my homework. Got to go. Bye!

The Little Old School Room
In a little old school room,
In that old country school.
Where we started to bloom,
With the Golden Rule.
That was the place for our very best times,
Learning to read, reciting nursery rhymes.
That little old school room way in the back,
In the morning we'd get there, by crossing the tracks.
Fixing it up for Halloween,
Black cats, pumpkins, witches, and hay.
The most wonderful room I'd ever seen.
We couldn't wait for that special day.
Making masks from paper bags,
Getting up a party for the fourth grade class.
All dressed up in paint and rags,
Drawing little ghosts on the window glass.
That little school room is still there in my mind,
All the smells, laughter, friendship and joy.
When I want to go back, I can easily find,
That little old school room, where I was a boy.

School Blues
classwork
homework
schoolwork
all work, no play
the day goes on and on;
the only break we get is lunch.
you wait in line
ready to dine
on defrosted food
smushed broccoli
smashed peas
hard, over cooked peas,
! Oh please!
you hold your plate at your side
ready to pay for it in crash, then CRASH!
someone bumps into you
your food flying all over the floor
annoyed, you quickly find a table
and sit all alone
waiting for the bell to ring
to take you out of this embarassing hell.
so you around acting 'cool' walking around school
but your stomach keeps growling
because you're still hungry.
At the end of the day
tired and exhausted
you just HAPPENED to get booked with
tons of homework
the day ends as kids crowd the hall, shoving, pushing past to get to
their lockers
and you're RELIEVED
until you remember...
... it's only the first day of school.

Every morning
You are faithful to your morning
Prayers and your habit of
Having coffee first
After waking up
So the room smells of coffee
Fumes wafting
Settling to
My nostrils
As I pretend sleeping
You complain somehow
That this room
No longer smells
The pungent
Odors
of lovers
Of our common
Sweat drying because
We have overslept
Because we are so exhausted
each one
unattended.

A School Is So Not Cool
School Is Not So Cool
School, School, School,
A school is not cool
We're here 5 days a week
8 hours a day.
School, School, School,
A school is not cool.
People laugh when we fall
we just have to make a call.
School, School, School
A school is not cool.
We have to work hard to get good grades
I'm not going to do it no more
I do it every day.
We can’t go on the grass
We can’t bother another class
We can’t save spots at lunch
We have to go as a bunch.
We have 3 minutes in the hall
I'm always late what a ball.
We have to pay attention
if not we get detention.
School, School, School,
A school is not cool.
They have too many rules
they play us as fools
if we get A's
the parents jump Hip Hip Hooray.
If we get F's
we tell them we need to take a rest.
We always have homework
we never have class work
they have to many rules
they need to take it cool.
School, School, School,
A school is so not cool!

Portrait of a Friend
I can't give solutions to all of life's problems, doubts, or fears. But I can listen to you, and together we will search for answers.
I can't change the past with all its heartache and pain, nor the future with its untild stories. But I can be there now when you need me to care.
I can't keep your feet from stumbling. I can only offer my hand that you may grasp it and not fall.
Your joys, triumphs, successes, and happiness are not mine. Yet I can share in your laughter.
Your decisions in life are not mine to make nor to judge. I can only support you, encourage you, and help you when you ask.
I can't prevent you from falling away from friendship, from your values, from me. I can only pray for you, talk to you and wait for you.
I can't give you boundaries which I have determined for you. But I can give you the room to change, room to grow, room to be yourself.
I can't keep your heart from breaking and hurting. But I can cry with you and help you pick up the pieces and put them back in place.
I can't tell you who you are. I can only love you and be your friend.

Tests And Homework And Quizzes AND SCHOOL
You know that if there was one thing,
That you could take from school,
It wouldn't be art or math or history,
It would be work.
Those ugly things you want to blow up,
and smash,
and burn,
and crinkle,
and rip,
and tear,
and throw out.
Those things that make you have to remember,
all the stuff you learned before,
and to study, study, study,
'till your eyes fall out.
“Oh, sorry I wasn't paying attention”
and
'Did we learn this? '
never helps when the test monster gives you the paper, And wishes you well.
But you know she doesn't mean that.
She doesn't want us to do good,
she just wants us to hurry so she can give us another test.
And then it's June!
Good that the year's almost over,
But bad 'cause........
FINAL EXAMS
Oh no! ! !
The mother of all tests,
And what did you say? We have to take more than one!
I'm done for.
Your sitting there,
hand clenched on the pencil,
face sweating,
and then BINGO!
You get the answer.
You jump up and scream,
in the silent classroom.
You shout out with joy 'cause they’re all over.
No more exams, or quizzes, or tests, or homework.
You bring up you paper and sit back down.
Then it happens.
Excuse me please come up to the front of the room
Right then and there
DETENTION!
No it’s not detention?
Whoo Hoo! ! ! !
It’s homework
Well that’s just as bad.
You think, No. No. You didn't just say there's still homework? ?
And we have to do it everyday of the summer! !
You have to be kidding me.
“Oh, just strike me down right here and save me from homework! ! “
But wait,
You say it's fun homework,
BLAH,
homework can't be fun,
or joyous,
or exciting,
or awesome,
or amusing,
or entertaining,
JUST HORRIBLE! ! !
“So we have to do fun homework? ? “
“What is it? “
It is to have fun?
And stay safe? ?
“No, you must be kidding.”
Your not kidding! Really! ! Cool! !
Well see you next year!
If I can stop having fun and come back!
GOOD BYE SCHOOL AND TESTS! ! !

Mrs. Bass's 8th Grade Language Arts Class
Welcome,8th grade, to this class,
I teach Language Arts because I'm Mrs. Bass.
Pick a desk and have a seat,
Write your assignments in your planner nice and neat.
Open your notebooks and pull ot a sheet of paper,
Today we will do the opening together.
Now read your book for 20 minutes or so,
take notes on what you know.
Now it's time for a test,
try your hardest and do your best.
No talking during this test you hear,
Because Mrs. Bass is watching near.
Test is over time has past,
Now heres the thing we do last.
For homework tonight in your book,
Do page 72 'a closer look'.
Write a summary on what you learned,
And write 5 questions for extra credit that can be earned.
Now pack your things and dont forget to do your homework tonight,
Now adios first wave GOODBYE! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! !

Smells Like
if your heart
smells like my feet,
then the time
is not in vain.
we lose years
in moments of burden...
painting stars
on a ceiling
sure to fall!
if my feet
smell like prayers,
then god should know
the way, and have the key.
if the door
smells like you...
then we'll both wait
outside in the rain!

Swing Shift Blues
What is better than leaving a bar
in the middle of the afternoon
besides staying in it or not
having gone into it in the first place
because you had a decent woman to be with?
The air smells particularly fresh
after the stale beer and piss smells.
You can stare up at the whole sky:
it's blue and white and does not
stare back at you like the bar mirror,
and there's Whats-'is-name coming out
right behind you saying, "I don't
believe it, I don't believe it: there
he is, staring up at the fucking sky
with his mouth open. Don't
you realize, you stupid son of a bitch,
that it is a quarter to four
and we have to clock in in
fifteen minutes to go to work?"
So we go to work and do no work
and can even breathe in the Bull's face
because he's been into the other bar
that we don't go to when he's there.

Inside the classroom
Empty Faces
stare back at the desk
they sit in
those are the tired ones
Faces Full
of happiness
laughing at a joke
their friend just told
those are the happy ones
Faces of Concentration
trying to reach their perfection
by completing their homework,
Homework
no one else seems to be doing
those are the determined ones
Everyone
every few seconds
glance at the clock
hoping the class will be over
but to them
it won't come soon enough

Im Bugged At My Ol Man
Im bugged at my ol man
Cause hes making me stay in my room
(darn my dad)
I came in a little late
And my ol man he just blew his mind
(blew it bad)
Why did he sell my surfboard?
He cut off my hair in my sleep
I wish I could see outside
But he tacked up boards on my window
(gosh its dark)
I cant hit the surf, cant drag
Cant do a dog-goned thing
(wish I could)
I tried to call up my chick
But he jerked my phone right out of the wall
They gave me some breadcrumbs
And a little glass of water
And theyre out there eating steak
(smells so good)
I ripped up my wardrobe
And Im growing a beard
Oh when will they let me come out
Id listen to my radio
But he took it and hes using it in his own room
(now its gone)
I wish I could do some homework
But I got suspended from school
(blew my cool)
Im bugged at my ol man
And he doesnt even know where its at

25 Minutes To Go
They're buildin' the gallows outside my cell.
I got 25 minutes to go.
And in 25 minutes I'll be in Hell.
I got 24 minutes to go.
Well, they give me some beans for my last meal.
23 minutes to go.
And you know... nobody asked me how I feel.
I got 22 minutes to go.
So, I wrote to the Gov'nor... the whole damned bunch.
Ahhh... 21 minutes to go.
And I call up the Mayor, and he's out to lunch.
I got 20 more minutes to go.
Well, the Sheriff says, 'Boy, I wanna watch you die'.
19 minutes to go.
I laugh in his face... and I spit in his eye.
I got 18 minutes to go.
Well...I call out to the Warden to hear my plea.
17 minute to go.
He says, 'Call me back in a week or three.
You've got 16 minutes to go.'
Well, my lawyer says he's sorry he missed my case.
Mmmm....15 minutes to go.
Yeah, well if you're so sorry, come up and take my place.
I got 14 minutes to go.
Well, now here comes the padre to save my soul
With 13 minutes to go.
And he's talkin' about burnin', but I'm so damned cold.
I got 12 more minutes to go.
Now they're testin' the trap. It chills my spine.
I got 11 minutes to go.
'Cuz the goddamned thing it works just fine.
I got 10 more minutes to go.
I'm waitin' for the pardon... gonna set me free
With 9 more minutes to go.
But this ain't the movies, so to hell with me.
I got 8 more minutes to go.
And now I'm climbin up the ladder with a scaffold peg
With 7 more minutes to go.
I've betta' watch my step or else I'll break my leg.
I got 6 more minutes to go.
Yeah... with my feet on the trap and my head in the noose...
5 more minutes to go.
Well, c'mon somethin' and cut me loose.
I got 4 more minutes to go.
I can see the mountains. I see the sky.
3 more minutes to go.
And it's too damned pretty for a man to die.
i got 2 more minutes to go
I can hear the buzzards... hear the crows.
1 more minute to go.
And now I'm swingin' and here I gooooooooo....

Dedicated to Eirlys Patchett:
Who left us on the 10th of March 2010. On the 11th her pupils got their results of A's and A*s. So this is my last homework for you.
We all knew her, and she all knew us;
And in our darkness she held us.
And in our triumph she praised us,
And she uttered a phrase;
‘Your not there yet’
As she wrote,
On the Blackboard.
of that lonely room.
And now the room lies dormant,
The books marked,
bearing the green font,
And the silence echoes,
Along the lonely room;
The stool that bore her,
And the desk where we gathered,
At the front, Of that lonely room.
At the back, the clock has stopped;
And the laughter gone.
Homework left unhanded,
bearing the green font;
And her familiar tone.
The tea and biscuits,
for her class,
left at home,
to be brought to the front;
of that lonely room.
We all knew her, and she all knew us;
And in our sadness she holds us,
And in our triumph she praises us,
And she utters a phrase,
‘Your not there yet'
As the writing still lingers,
on the blackboard,
of that lonely room.

The Voices Within
the voices within
are artful
they do not just come out
in any microphones
they are choosy
they look for one as
sensitive as you
as careful
as gentle
as crafty,
they ask if you have a
menagerie of words
a place where they can be filtered
into stanzas of beauty
and you assure them
you are a studious man
learned of the art of
expression and that you will not fail them
of their message
you tell them you are not color blind
that your sense of smell is
not destroyed by
the foul smells of this nook
your room that
becomes the stock of dirty clothes
and underwear
unwashed for weeks
your empty coffee mugs
your dirty linens spread on the
dusty floors
your twisted window frames
your urine persistent
you smile at them that all things
are simply manageable
and that they will not regret the
consistent efforts of a man
worshiping
transshipping extrapolating
tons of words
into another understandable
language of the
island
they smile
and then you are taken.

The girl is more inviting who smells of wild thyme than she who smells of musk.
A different type of homework
Being a science student I attended cookery class for only one term
(3 months) in Class 8th...This poem is a small contribution for the
Cookery Class when we had to make Cookies at home and take
them to school for checking/inspection :) I have tried to make it a
funny poem :)
I was given homework to do,
a good presentation I made.
Next day I showed it too,
and all my friends admired.
My teacher came to inspect it,
and she sniffed it like a puppy.
Then she took a small bite,
chewed it and looked happy.
She took another bigger piece,
munching away and smiling.
I watched not feeling nice,
seeing my homework disappearing.
Soon she had finished it all,
I stood with my mouth agape.
My homework seems vitamins full,
that a teacher ate it with a burp?
Normal marking of assignment is to make you pass,
What of tasting and then eating your homework?
Your marking is done like this in class!
in cookery class the teacher eats your work. :)
