Two people separate
Two people separate where one
says that she’s met another man
and suddenly everything that we had is gone
and missing you my life is empty
while I am forced to move on
with your face in every other woman’s face that I see
but even worse my job is done, my contract ended
and according to the company
it could no longer be extended
and I am living in a country where the colour of skin
in times of affirmative action
becomes the deciding thing
to have a job or to be jobless,

Wife to Be (Petrarchan Sonnet)
I stroll along a fragrant country lane
With honeysuckle perfume on the air -
And feathered crooner's warble to revere -
Then cross a golden sea of flowing grain
In empathy - it seems to sense my pain
Of knowing all was done with my affair -
Her empty meaning now the solitaire
She cast away - betrothment all in vain.
But oceans team with many fish to catch
So I must up and hoist another sail

Drumshanbo Hustle
I was talkin' to the judge
Just before we left the countryside,
Paper in his hand,
Tryin' to find a way.
Goin' by the book,
"man, you oughtta make a serial."
Ripped the pages out
'fore they pull the final curtain down.
I remember the day
Just like the drumshanbo hustle.
We couldn't hear no birds,
They were makin' not a sound.
They were tryin' to muscle in,
An easy way to bring the money in.
You were pukin' up your guts
When you read the contract had been signed.
Prostitution on the run,
'ceptin what it was last night.
Tryin' to drain you dry,
Couldn't get too much rope.
Tryin' to take 'em down
Just to see how far it all would go.
Wasn't goin' very far
And she didn't let it bring you down.
