Two people separate
Two people separate where one
says that she’s met another man
and suddenly everything that we had is gone
and missing you my life is empty
while I am forced to move on
with your face in every other woman’s face that I see
but even worse my job is done, my contract ended
and according to the company
it could no longer be extended
and I am living in a country where the colour of skin
in times of affirmative action
becomes the deciding thing
to have a job or to be jobless,
where to find a permanent job is almost impossible
and the companies that contract temporary cares less.

One evening I see a thing
One evening
I see a thing
that let’s my blood boil,
while I watch the news
on the television set.
I know a bold man
without hair
that stands before a big crowd,
his country, the world
and the God of gods
and lays his hand
on the holy black book
and lies a promise down and gives a solemn oath
to be true to his country and fellow man.
His government drove me to Angola
and back again
and all of the oppressed
really did have to get freedom,
but where did he stay
his brother’s keeper?
Now it seems
that he really doesn’t have a clue
about how a white man
with a degree and lots of experience
has difficulty
to find a permanent job at forty five
and to put food on the table
and all of government
falls apart
through people that have no clue
how to do their work.
Thousands of rands of tax
are subtracted from my contract work
and tax pays
his fat pension.
I want to blister
like a hot potato,
because he has the impudence
to say something about affirmative action
and I pray for him
and ask God to change him
and for him to be blessed,
as it is the way
that my mother taught me
to do to my enemies.
My contract is finished
and I have to find another job
and from that,
he stands totally free.

Killing Machine
I never give no answers, I never tell no lies
I never walk a straight line so I never get surprised
I dont ask no favors so I wont get abused
I learned to win when I was young
So Im never ever gonna lose
They pay me the money and Ill do the job
I got a contract on you
I got a contract, on you
I never ask no questions, I never speak my mind
I always found that silence helps to keep me and my kind alive
I take care of business, it takes care of me
I look after myself and do it well
cause somebodys always looking for me
They pay me the money and Ill do the job
I got a contract on you
I got a contract on you
What manner of man am i?
A gun, lump sum and then I move on
What manner of man are you?
Stab a friends back to jump a queue
I do what I do cos I cant do nothing better
You do what you do, just defendin yourself
cos you aint got nothin better to do
I got no place, no name, Im just a killing machine
I kept the population down, if you know what I mean
I never stop in one place, I move about the cities
Got expensive tastes, but I hasten to add that
Im the best that there is
They pay me the money and Ill do the job
I got a contract on you
I got a contract on you
I got a contract on you
I got a contract on you

Leaves
I had never thought
that I would meet artisans
living on the street.
I found a welder, mechanic,
a jack-of-all-trades
and master of many and some
and even an electrician or two
and with my degree
couldn’t get a contract
and neither could they
and destiny shatters lives,
letting people blow around
like autumn leaves
being discarded by society
as work had been reserved,
not by merit, qualifications or experience
but by the colour of skin
and affirmative action
they call the demon
(the new in thing)
that has been released
and I wonder if God
hears the sad songs
flowing from guitars,
falling like leaves
in tragic melodies
and if ever a new tomorrow
would rise for the oppressed
and if ever they will be blessed?

Marriage Contract
Marriage contract was eaten by Judge’s cow
Still every night you give away golden key
Golden colour of the keys gather rust day by day
Our dreams also become fade gradually
Leaves of the contract move in the belly of Kazi’s cow
Eyes of you and mine reads ancient history
Come, let’s sign a new marriage contract
So that I become your and you mine
The leaves of life oscillate in water
Pain-stricken mind destroys all the pains.

Woman In Me (feat. Destiny's Child)
Doo doo da da da da da
Doo doo da da da da da
Doo doo da da da da da
Doo doo da da da da da
Doo doo da da da da da
Doo doo da da da da da
Ohhhhh
The face that I see it's the woman in me
It's the woman that I wanna be
The face that I see it's the woman in me
It's the woman in me I see (I see)
As I look in, look in the mirror I see
Life is really here to be with me, oh
I can see myself getting stronger everyday
I'm not the same woman I used to be
So now I tell myself I am thinkin strong
I see the beauty lying within my soul
The face that I see it's the woman in me
It's the woman that I wanna be
The face that I see it's the woman in me
It's the woman in me I see (I see)
When I love myself I can do whatever I want
Doesn't matter what you do to me, do to me
Honest people, there's a possibility
To tell you my real reality
The face that I see it's the woman in me
It's the woman that I wanna be (I wanna be)
The face that I see it's the woman in me
It's the woman in me I see (woman in me baby)
Doo doo da da da da da
Doo doo da da da da da
Doo doo da da da da da
Doo doo da da da da da
Doo doo da da da da da
Doo doo da da da da da
Can you see the woman in me
Do you really wanna see the woman in me
Hahha, let me show you
Don't underestimate the woman I become
The woman I am
So now I tell myself that I'm thinkin I'm strong
And I see the beauty lying within my soul
The face that I see it's the woman in me
It's the woman that I wanna be (I wanna be)
The face that I see it's the woman in me
It's the woman in me I see (I see)
The face that I see it's the woman in me
It's the woman that I wanna be (I wanna be)
The face that I see it's the woman in me
It's the woman in me I see (I see)
The face that I see it's the woman in me
It's the woman that I wanna be (I wanna be)
The face that I see it's the woman in me
It's the woman in me I see (I see)
The face that I see it's the woman in me
It's the woman that I wanna be (I wanna be)
The face that I see it's the woman in me
It's the woman in me I see (I see)
The face that I see it's the woman in me
It's the woman that I wanna be (I wanna be)

Move In
Move in, move in
Move in, watch me move in
Invite me to a party
Hang some colour on the walls
It makes me feel like eighteen
Im gonna change things for us all
Sooner or later the music goes
I see a trace of sweat on your face
Move in, move in
Remember now the times we had
Move in, watch me move in
Remember now the times we had
Our worlds turned round but thats okay
Yet, things still look the same
People dancing so much
Keep it pushing come what may
Sooner or later the music goes
I see a trace of sweat on your face
Move in, move in
Remember now the times we had
Move in, watch me move in
Remember now the times we had
I see the lights are low now
But still the faces glow
A year thats full of zeros
Yet who knows what that holds
Sooner or later the music goes
I see a trace of sweat on your face
Move in, move in
Remember now the times we had
Move in, watch me move in
Remember now the times we had
Move in, move in
Remember now the times we had
Move in, watch me move in
Remember now the times we had
Move in, move in
Remember now the times we had
Move in, watch me move in
Remember now the times we had
Lead on
Oh the music goes
And I feel it pushing on, baby
I feel its pushing
Push against me
Please, stop
I feel the music
Inside me

A contract is a contract is a contract... but only between Ferengi.
The White Man Blues
An AK-47 submachine gun shoots stammering,
a rocket propelled grenade whooshes past
and I am in the middle
of another country’s civil war
shooting off short bursts, trying to stay alive
while forced into military service
by the government
and this day could be my last,
but it’s ok as I am still alive
and praying to an almighty God.
Having lost two cars, in less than a week
from theft by some black hooligans
who thinks that what you own
belongs to them
from which the insurance absolved themselves,
having lost my job by affirmative action
and only receiving a few months salary as pay
with all the fringe benefits being cut away
with the wife and her kids walking out
into the arms and the charms
of her new boyfriend
and in Soweto and wherever
the gangsters and politicians live, they know,
they wait and try to relieve me
from my humanity
and to turn me into a ravenous hating thing
and it isn’t news to them
they see my plight
as they are causing it
and even the government holds out its hand
for taxes when and where I have a contract work
but it’s ok as I am still alive
and praying to an almighty God.

If You Get Up And Move
Get up and move...
With a living that you're given.
Get up and move...
With a living that you're given.
Get up and move...
With a living that you're given.
With a living that you're given...
You'll receive what's yours to get.
That's If you,
Get up and move...
With a living that you're given.
Get up and move...
With a living that you're given.
Get up and move...
With a living that you're given.
With a living that you're given...
You'll receive to get what's missed.
Get up and move...
With a living that you're given.
Get up and move...
With a living that you're given.
Get up and move...
With a living that you're given.
With a living that you're given...
You'll receive what's yours to get.
And what you'll get will be a gift....
To lift your consciousness.
That's if you get up and move.
You will see what has been missing!
If you get up and move.
You will see what has been missing!
Get-Up-And-Move.
You will see what has been missing!
You will see what has been missing!
You can't miss what's yours to get.
That's if you...
Get up and move.

I had an idea for a story about a young woman who was living with people who were different, not just superficially different - such as hair colour, or eye colour, or skin colour - but different in some significant way.

I Grieve
It was only one hour ago
It was all so different then
Theres nothing yet has really sunk in
Looks like it always did
This flesh and bone
Its just the way that you would tied in
Now theres no-one home
I grieve for you
You leave me
so hard to move on
Still loving whats gone
They say life carries on
Carries on and on and on and on
The news that truly shocks is the empty empty page
While the final rattle rocks its empty empty cage
And I cant handle this
I grieve for you
You leave me
Let it out and move on
Missing whats gone
They say life carries on
They say life carries on and on and on
Life carries on
In the people I meet
In everyone thats out on the street
In all the dogs and cats
In the flies and rats
In the rot and the rust
In the ashes and the dust
Life carries on and on and on and on
Life carries on and on and on
Its just the car that we ride in
A home we reside in
The face that we hide in
The way we are tied in
And life carries on and on and on and on
Life carries on and on and on
Did I dream this belief?
Or did I believe this dream?
Now I can find relief
I grieve

Verb: That's What's Happening
I get my thing in action
To be, to see, to feel, to live
And i put my heart in action
To run, to go, to get, to give
'cause that's where i find satisfaction
To search, to find, to have, to hold
When i use my imagination
I think, i plot, i plan, i dream
Turning in towards creation
Well i make, i write, i dance, i sing
'cause i get my thing in action
Yeah i get my thing in action
Go!
When i'm feeling really active
Well i run, i ride, i swim, i fly!
Other times when life is easy
Oh i rest, i sleep, i sit, i lie
I can take a noun and bend it
Make it a verb and really send it!
'cause i get my thing in action
And i don't know my own power
I can question; like what is it?
I can order; like go get it!
When i need i really need it
When i see i got to have it
'cause i put my thing in action
Yeah i put my thing in action
Yeah i get my thing in action
And i don't even know my power
No!

I Like The Way
Somewhere inside my evolution
Karmically I seek retribution
Looking for love in physical beauty
Desire is the drug of the bourgeoisie
And now I try to intellectualize
Like a glimmer of good in a bad man's eyes
I am consumed by the flesh haunting me
I know temptation taunts the empty
So pour yourself over me
Until there's nothing left to see, yeah yeah
Because I like the way you move in the dark
I like the tension, the tension and the spark
The decadence of giving into desire
Creates such entropy within
Looking for love in spiritual faces
Blind to the art of fabrication
I'm like a baby sucking mama's milk
Want to drink my fill and then some
Leave me alone
I always thought I was better than this
But temptation tempts the temptee
Pour yourself over me
Until there's nothing left to see, yeah yeah
Oh, because I like the way you move in the dark
And I like the tension, the tension and the spark, oh
Because I like the way you move in the dark, oh
You know I like the tension, the tension and, the tension and the spark, oh
This physicality
Shifting me chemically
Such power over me
It's just desire
I know it's treachery (shifting me chemically)
I know it's just skin deep (such power over me)
I know I should resist
I'm just too tired
Too tired
There's just one thing missing
One thing missing here is
Love
I like the way you move in the dark
I like the tension, the tension and the spark (so pour yourself over me)
You know, I like the way you move in the dark (so pour yourself over me)
You know, I like the tension, the tension and, the tension and the spark
So pour yourself over me
(There's just one thing missing)
(One thing missing)
Until there's nothing left to see
(There's just one thing missing)
(The tension and the spark)
(One thing missing)
(So pour yourself over me)
There's just one thing missing
One thing missing
(So pour yourself over me)

Lotus land
I.
There are no more oxen
to tread through the dust,
not even those of A.G. Visser
or Jan F.E. Cilliers
because they have died long ago
or are eaten
by Afrikaners as steak
and there’s no wagon
to be drawn,
because every chariot has its own power
and its own beauty too.
II.
Fast the kilometres rush past
and marsh and meadow
are driven through before sunrise
and if you leave at dawn
you can reach the Cape before dusk
and we are already living in a languid country
where the sauce train
comes and get many people
while the others
still have to pay tax.
Some sit without education in offices
passing the hours on their chairs
while they do not know how to work
or to do a task
and are just waiting for their wage
or to talk on the phone
III.
The rich get richer
while white men
that can work and have university education,
are jobless
and women now try to do their thing.
The ignorant becomes bosses
that only knows how to cringe
and by black economic empowerment
and affirmative action
uneducated get big salaries
while the country slides backwards.
IV.
Wanderers even come from other countries
and just where they can
they squat.
At every traffic light people stand and beg
and do not know
how to work
and with coins and rands
that everybody give in pity
this evil is strengthened.
V.
Caning is gone out of the schools
and most children do not know
respect anymore
and do not know how to learn
or to honour their parents
and I wonder what have become of my people
and where our country is going
and if everything is rushing to the end?

Jet City Woman
Every time I leave
You say you wont be there.
And youre always there.
Every time I cry your name at night,
You pull close and say its alright.
I look in your eyes, just like the rain.
Washing me, rain wash over me.
Touching your face, I feel the heat
Of your heartbeat echo in my head like a scream.
What you do to me!
Waited so long I cant wait another day without you.
Jet city woman.
Its a long way, home to my
Jet city woman.
I see her face everywhere, cant get her out of my mind.
Whenever Im alone Im thinking,
Theres a part missing from my life.
Wonder where Id be without your love
Holding me together now im
Watching the time tick, tick away.
Face grows longer every day.
Fortunes are lost on the women Ive seen
But without you I cant breathe!
Youre the air to me!
Waited so long, Im all alone thinking about you.
Jet city woman.
Got to find my way home to her.
Jet city woman.
I see her face everywhere I look!
Jet city woman.
Just a thousand miles and Ill be there
Jet city woman, to make the clouds go away.
Time for some blue sky!
Waited so long now the planes delayed
And hour, reminds me of all our days apart.
Hold on, just a little longer.
Jet city woman.
Wonder where Id be, youre the air to me.
Jet city woman.
Eyes like the rain, rain down on me.
Jet city woman.
No more nights alone Im almost home now.
Jet city woman.
Close my eyes, Im there in my jet city.
