In a Land Without Sunshine

In the ground one day was planted a seed,
Spawned a Drake of Suffering, causing people to plead:
'What can stop it? Who will dare?'
In a land without sunshine,
Whispered the Maiden, 'Why should I care?' Men lusted, women despised,
Children and elders laughed at her eyes,
'How strange she is! She doesn't belong!'
In a land without sunshine,
Begged the Maiden, 'Take heed of my song?' The Dragon of old, soared high overhead,
Baring sharp fangs, snarling words of dread:
'What fools you are! Suffer your fate!'
In a land without sunshine,
Decided the Maiden, 'Who deserves such hate?' A flash of her blade, a fire in her eyes,
The Maiden slew the Wyrm, thrown from the sky.
'Without praise she fought. Our pain she relieved'.
In a land without sunshine,
The sun shines upon one who believed.

Come O'er the Sea

Come o'er the sea,
Maiden with me,
Mine through sunshine, storm, and snows;
Seasons may roll,
But the true soul
Burns the same, where'er it goes.
Let fate frown on, so we love and part not;
'Tis life where thou art, 'tis death were thou are not.
Then come o'er the sea,
Maiden with me,
Come wherever the wild wind blows;
Seasons may roll,
But the true soul
Burns the same, where'er it goes.

Was not the sea
Made for the Free,
Land for courts and chains alone?
Here we are slaves,
But, on the waves,
Love and Liberty's all our own.
No eye to watch, and no tongue to wound us
All earth forgot, and all heaven around us --
Then come o'er the sea,
Maiden, with me,
Mine through sunshine, storms, and snows
Seasons may roll,
But the true soul
Burns the same, where'er it goes.

Sunshine(a song)

Shining so bright up in the sky
The brightest thing in the world
Other than you
Sunshine...
ooh oow oh

Sunshine...oh oh oh
You are the sunshine in my eyes
the light in my soul
Sunshine...
ooh oow oh
(chorus)
Moonlit nights
Sunshining days
Sunshine...Sunshine
oh oow oh
Sunshine...

Yea, yea, yea
Sunshine that never dies out
The way you look into my eyes
Burns just like the sunshine
Sunshine...oh oh oh oow
(chorus)

Baby...
The light in your eyes
Makes my heart melt
Like ice in the sun
Sunshine, sunshine, sunshine
oh oh oh

My Sunshine!

Sunshine, come out.
Sunshine, don't hide.
Sunshine, never pout.
Sunshine, be my guide.
Sunshine, love me sweet.
Sunshine, my heart is yours.
Sunshine, give me your heat.
Sunshine, open my doors.
Sunshine, take my hand.
Sunshine, don't leave me.
Sunshine, dry my sand.
My Sunshine, you'll always be.

There's Sunshine

There's Sunshine in the sea
It's looking at me
There's Sunshine in the car
As we travell far
The Sunshine looks at me

There's Sunshine in the garden
And it's like it say's pardon
There's Sunshine in the house
Its a quiet as a mouse
The Sunshine looks at me

The Sunshine everywhere
Even in your hair
And it's all thanks to God
Without snapping a rod
The Sunshine loves me

The Best Day

The power of love,
The power of a muse;
The power of romance,
The power of a Kiss;
This is the best day of my life.

It is raining cats and dogs,
It is raining elephants and timbers,
With the rainbow to see on this love;
Of sunshine and rain to see the rainbow of my lover,
Like an Anaconda catcher in Africa.

To the land of men,
To the land of women,
To the land of children,
To the land of love;
This is the best day of my life.

To muse with your love is like,
To be very deep inside you;
Like the life in the land of red light where,
The sunshine and the rain meet to form the rainbow!
This is the best day of my life.

You're My Sunshine

Sunshine, you're my sunshine
and without you nothing's right.
You warm me like the sunshine
when I see you in my sight.
There's a special glow in my heart
when I think of you.
If you're gone for even one day
I don't know what to do.
Oh I try you know
but whenever you go
the sunshine's just not there.
Oh it's in the sky
and I don't know why
I can't feel it anywhere.

Sunshine, you're my sunshine
and without you I am cold.
You warm me like the sunshine
and shine for me like gold.
Sunshine, you're my sunshine
and without you nothing's right.
So please don't ever leave me.
I need you in my sight.

Longtime Sunshine

Sometimes I want to pack it all up
Get on a bus and move to Vermont
Or Maine or any of those states back east
That I remember...
Sometimes I wanna go back to school
An east coast college with some history
I'd be satisfied I know in the simple things
Longtime sunshine
Longtime sunshine upon me
Sometimes I want to build a house
With a wood stove or a fire place
In the middle of the livingroom
An old piano...
Sometimes it don't seem so bad
To settle down with a good woman
Leave this lonely life behind
Forever and ever
Longtime sunshine
Longtime sunshine upon me
Longtime sunshine
Longtime sunshine upon me
Sometimes I wanna get in a car
Close my eyes and drive real fast
Keep on going 'till I get someplace
Where I can truly rest
Longtime sunshine
Longtime sunshine upon me
Longtime sunshine
Longtime sunshine upon me

Sunshine

Sometimes I can't get enough
Ooh, of you
This friendly game keeps getting rough
Think I'm breaking through
I cannot hide this well
This well as I should
There's always something left to tell
Tell me is it good?
I see you
Do you see me too?
Close your eyes and meet me in the sunshine
Come on through
I will find you
Close your eyes and meet me in the sunshine
I guess you chose a different road
I am not aware
I got the one that's been closed
Shut down for repair
I hold a highway in my head
Ruling of a king
Driving away the things I've said
And I've said everything
I see you
Do you see me too?
Close your eyes and meet me in the sunshine
Come on through
I will find you
Close your eyes and meet me in the sunshine
Meet me in the sunshine
Meet me in the... sunshine
There's something better in this heat
Getting it on
I feel the warmth, I feel the greed
And I fear the fall
I hold this window wide enough
To keep the whole world
I want to spit out all this stuff
And keep the girl
I see you
Do you see me too?
Close your eyes and meet me in the sunshine
Come on through
I will find you
Close your eyes and meet me in the sunshine
Meet me in the sunshine
Meet me in the sunshine

The Sunshine Boys

Passages

The Sunshine Boys
' A Landlubber's Lament'

Opus 73

Oh, how he yearned for the sunshine boys.
And, the days he was young and free.
When he was captivated by the joy,
Of shipping off to sea.

The ocean's pull was the chance to see
Those things he never saw.
To be those things, he shouldn't be;
To laugh at the land and the law.

A carefree time, with the sunshine dwelt
On decks against the waves.
He stared into the face of hell,
And laughed, and said. 'I'm brave.'

No time in life was he so free,
Yet never more restricted.
As fighter, drinker, lover, he
Could have his fate predicted.

Those times were spent with the sunshine boys,
Who ventured far from home;
Who greatest efforts did employ,
To conquer wind and foam.

The sunshine boys found a challenge there,
At sea, to become men.
To know, nothing on this earth compares,
With the ocean's hold on them.

And, now that he has landed here,
He longs for the sunshine, then,
And the chance to overcome his fears,
By sailing off again.

This poem is dedicated to all those 'sunshine boys'*, who became men, by 'Going down to the sea in ships.'
*Sunshine boys are deck hands on a carrier, who take rests between launching planes by stretching out on the deck in the sunshine and catching short naps.

Sunshine On My Shoulder

sunshine, on my shoulders - makes me happy
sunshine, in my eyes - can make me cry
sunshine, on the water - looks so lovely
sunshine, almost always - makes me high
if i had a day that i could give you
i'd give to you a day just like today
if i had a song that i could sing for you
i'd sing a song to make you feel this way
sunshine, on my shoulders - makes me happy
sunshine, in my eyes - can make me cry
sunshine, on the water - looks so lovely
sunshine, almost always - makes me high
if i had a tale that i could tell you
i'd tell a tale sure to make you smile
if i had a wish that i could wish for you
i'd make a wish for sunshine all the while
sunshine, on my shoulders - makes me happy
sunshine, in my eyes - can make me cry
sunshine, on the water - looks so lovely
sunshine, almost always - makes me high
sunshine almost al the times makes me high
sunshine, almost always

Sunshine, Sunshine

Sunshine, Sunshine
You are sublime, you are divine
Your presence is an extra lifeline

In your face I forget my sorrows
For I can face them tomorrow
In your warm rays I shall make headlines
Just shine on me love before you resign

Sunshine, Sunshine
You always shine a delightful design
That sends joyous glitters down my spine

Sunshine, Sunshine
Now and then you taste sweeter than wine
Your smile is one I simply dare not decline

Sunshine, Sunshine
Today you shall be mine
Tomorrow I am yours to outshine

Trinity

The crone presides, the mother serves.
The maiden’s waiting in the wings,
each holds she place that she deserves.
The Moon Goddess still pulls the strings.

The fates decide the time for change
then each moves on to higher things
The power structures re arrange.
The aged crone has earned her wings.

The mother then becomes the crone,
the maiden takes the mothers place.
The elders meet to choose the one.
The new maiden who will replace.

The maiden who is now mature.
She is selected carefully.
They must be absolutely sure.
She understands she is to be

untouched a virgin set apart
There is so much she needs to learn
enough to daunt the stoutest heart.
It is an honour she must earn.

The mother maiden and the crone.
Represent the Moon Goddess,
they act together as though one.
The Goddess’ wishes to express.

Each of them must serve their turn
as maiden, mother then as crone
and from their predecessor learn.
The secrets hitherto unknown.

A Countryman's Wooing

THE MAIDEN.
How fell sage Helen? through a swain like thee.

DAPHNIS.
Nay the true Helen's just now kissing me.

THE MAIDEN.
Satyr, ne'er boast: 'what's idler than a kiss?'

DAPHNIS.
Yet in such pleasant idling there is bliss.

THE MAIDEN.
I'll wash my mouth: where go thy kisses then?

DAPHNIS.
Wash, and return it-to be kissed again.

THE MAIDEN.
Go kiss your oxen, and not unwed maids.

DAPHNIS.
Ne'er boast; for beauty is a dream that fades.

THE MAIDEN.
Past grapes are grapes: dead roses keep their smell.

DAPHNIS.
Come to yon olives: I have a tale to tell.

THE MAIDEN.
Not I: you fooled me with smooth words before.

DAPHNIS.
Come to yon elms, and hear me pipe once more.

THE MAIDEN.
Pipe to yourself: your piping makes me cry.

DAPHNIS.
A maid, and flout the Paphian? Fie, oh fie!

THE MAIDEN.
She's naught to me, if Artemis' favour last.

DAPHNIS.
Hush, ere she smite you and entrap you fast.

THE MAIDEN.
And let her smite me, trap me as she will!

DAPHNIS.
Your Artemis shall be your saviour still?

THE MAIDEN.
Unhand me! What, again? I'll tear your lip.

DAPHNIS.
Can you, could damsel e'er, give Love the slip?

THE MAIDEN.
You are his bondslave, but not I by Pan!

DAPHNIS.
I doubt he'll give thee to a worser man.

THE MAIDEN.
Many have wooed me, but I fancied none.

DAPHNIS.
Till among many came the destined one.

THE MAIDEN.
Wedlock is woe. Dear lad, what can I do?

DAPHNIS.
Woe it is not, but joy and dancing too.

THE MAIDEN.
Wives dread their husbands: so I've heard it said.

DAPHNIS.
Nay, they rule o'er them. What does woman dread?

THE MAIDEN.
Then children-Eileithya's dart is keen.

DAPHNIS.
But the deliverer, Artemis, is your queen.

THE MAIDEN.
And bearing children all our grace destroys.

DAPHNIS.
Bear them and shine more lustrous in your boys.

THE MAIDEN.
Should I say yea, what dower awaits me then?

DAPHNIS.
Thine are my cattle, thine this glade and glen.

THE MAIDEN.
Swear not to wed, then leave me in my woe?

DAPHNIS.
Not I by Pan, though thou should'st bid me go.

THE MAIDEN.
And shall a cot be mine, with farm and fold!

DAPHNIS.
Thy cot's half-built, fair wethers range this wold.

THE MAIDEN.
What, what to my old father must I say?

DAPHNIS.
Soon as he hears my name he'll not say nay.

THE MAIDEN.
Speak it: by e'en a name we're oft beguiled.

DAPHNIS.
I'm Daphnis, Lycid's and Nomaea's child.

THE MAIDEN.
Well-born indeed: and not less so am I.

DAPHNIS.
I know-Menalcas' daughter may look high.

THE MAIDEN.
That grove, where stands your sheepfold, shew me please.

DAPHNIS.
Nay look, how green, how tall my cypress-trees.

THE MAIDEN.
Graze, goats: I go to learn the herdsman's trade.

DAPHNIS.
Feed, bulls: I shew my copses to my maid.

THE MAIDEN.
Satyr, what mean you? You presume o'ermuch.

DAPHNIS.
This waist is round, and pleasant to the touch.

THE MAIDEN.
By Pan, I'm like to swoon! Unhand me pray!

DAPHNIS.
Why be so timorous? Pretty coward, stay.

THE MAIDEN.
This bank is wet: you've soiled my pretty gown.

DAPHNIS.
See, a soft fleece to guard it I put down.

THE MAIDEN.
And you've purloined my sash. What can this mean?

DAPHNIS.
This sash I'll offer to the Paphian queen.

THE MAIDEN.
Stay, miscreant-some one comes-I heard a noise.

DAPHNIS.
'Tis but the green trees whispering of our joys.

THE MAIDEN.
You've torn my plaidie, and I am half unclad.

DAPHNIS.
Anon I'll give thee a yet ampler plaid.

THE MAIDEN.
Generous just now, you'll one day grudge me bread.

DAPHNIS.
Ah! for thy sake my life-blood I could shed.

THE MAIDEN.
Artemis, forgive! Thy eremite breaks her vow.

DAPHNIS.
Love, and Love's mother, claim a calf and cow.

THE MAIDEN.
A woman I depart, my girlhood o'er.

DAPHNIS.
Be wife, be mother; but a girl no more.

Thus interchanging whispered talk the pair,
Their faces all aglow, long lingered there.
At length the hour arrived when they must part.
With downcast eyes, but sunshine in her heart,
She went to tend her flock; while Daphnis ran
Back to his herded bulls, a happy man.

Pieces of Light (Sunshine)

You are my sunshine, my only sunshine
The only sunshine I’ll ever need
And if you, yeah you ever want to be mine
Well darling, you don’t have to wait in line
No, not to be mine

You are in my heart; will you be my side?
Because you know you’re always on my mind
So baby please, tell me I’m on your mind
Don’t ever run and hide
From this love that you think is wrong
But it looks so right in my eyes

And tonight,
Tonight the vibe is set so high
Damn I can’t believe how high we used to always be
But that doesn’t matter to me
No, not anymore
Because I finally moved on to something more

Your love has always been a test
And I’ve been studying the days away
Praying I can feel your grace
I have been awake for days
So I can ace this thing
And slow this racing beat,
My heart it sings

You are my sunshine, my only sunshine
The only sunshine I’ll ever need
And I hope these rays
Will someday,
Bring you back to me
