This Flu That Slows Me So
This horrid flu that for a week
or more I silently bore
waiting for symptoms to abate
strength to return anew
I rested often but disease
persists returns not any vitality
head eyes ache nose runs
throat hurts dizzy I am meek
yet grateful I am for this flu
that slows me so lets me sleep
for oft throughout slow day
in spaces slow to my God I speak.
Blessed therefore may be the meek
who in fever worship speak.

A Flow of Love
Yeah!
Slow and Slow
ye stare
with eyes-
eyes innocent
as doe
Slow and Slow
you emptied
my cup
A cup
of woe
Slow and Slow
ye vanquished
my foes
hidden
inner foes
Slow and Slow
Ye pour
A wine of joy
in a goblet
with glow
Slow and Slow
Ye stamp
my cells
from
head to toe
Slow and slow
Ye weed out
ignorance
with your
divine hoe
Slow and slow
Ye open
petals
of my mind
for glorious show
Slow and slow
you rescued
me from claws
A dangerous
Maya's claws
Slow and slow
you weeded
out my flaws
habitual
mortal flaws
Slow and slow
Ye brought me
under yoke
A yoke
of divine law
Slow and slow
please come
in my life
with your
majestic flow
Because
Our separation
waiting on death row
our rendezvous
hot desert in a
storm of snow

Slow Boat To China
Lets take a slow boat to china. leave from south carolina
Lets take our time and go the long way
On a junk boat to thailand with your hand in mine hand
I sure hope we got something to say
Well, this old boats go no sail so wont you please hold our mail-
For awhile
Thanks anyway pal but the suez canal -
Aint our style
Lets take a slow boat to china and maybe well find a
New way to play those same old games
The stars just might show us and the captain will know us
Shake our hands and call us by our first names
Well send a postcard to grandpa of a vase or rickshaw-
He dont care
Well buy mom a kimono or maybe well just phone her -
When were there
Well drink sake at night beneath the soft harbor lights-
On the bay
Well build house on the hill next to shangri-li bill -
And well stay
Lets take that slow boat to china (lets go)
Slow boat to china (real slow)
Slow boat to china (lets go)
Slow boat to china (real slow)
Lets go real slow

Slow Love
Young is the night
It feels so right
Now that ure mine
Lets take our time
The man in the moon is smiling
4 he knows what Im dreaming of
Tonight is the night 4 making slow love
The gentle breeze
It blows with ease
Lets make it slow
Just like the wind blows
Lets make it last forever
For a hundred times wont be enough
Tonight is the night 4 making slow love
Slow love
So much better when we take it easy
Slow love
So much better when we take our time
Loves in your eyes (in your eyes)
Eyes never lie
Dont rush the feelin
Youve got me reelin
U can see through race car drivers
Let me show u what Im made of
Tonight is the night 4 making slow love
[repeated to fade]
Slow love
So much better when we take it easy
Slow love
So much better when we take our time

Feet On The Ground
(clarke / sylvester / hicks)
If we speak of lovin
Will it come from our hearts
Do we want this night of love to last forever
Or do we just part
Listen to yourself
Are you sure thats what you wanna say
We know that things sound different
In the cold light of day
Dont get dizzy and lose our heads
On the merry go round
I dont wanna be taken for a ride
Keep both feet on the ground
When we wake up in the morning
Will there be anyone there
Whoever is the first one to rise
Will be the one who cares
So, lets close our eyes and go to sleep
With a thought for the day
Waiting for tomorrow
Just to see if theres truth in what they say
Lets say goodnight
You know goodbye is a hard word to say
Hold me close
Weve reached the end
So lets drift on away
With a thought for today
Break
Im hopin, youre wishin
Ill stay by your side
Im wishin, youre hopin
That a flame doesnt die
And if we speak of lovin
Will it come from our hearts
Do we want this night of love to last forever
Or do we just part
So, lets close our eyes and go to sleep
With a thought for today
Waiting for tomorrow
Just to see if theres truth in what they say
Lets say goodnight
You know goodbye is a hard word to say
Hold me close
Weve reached the end
So lets drift on away
Drift on away
Drift on away
Drift on away

With Fever The Day Has Passed
could not have a warm shower first
my wife said soup was getting cold
and the heat of the soup is good
for fever to bring out the sweat
perhaps my head is supposed
to burn
with fever the day has passed
in blessed sleep night has quiet
creeping come with this fever
light headed dizzy flying flu
is timeless in circles of energy
fleeting lapping gone

The Pain Inside
My heart has died
theres a pain inside
my stomach aches
my head pounds
and my wrists bleed when no ones around
i dont know why its there
this pain hurts so bad i cry some times
not wanting to see day
nore wanting to be around
its like im in a black hole
falling till i hit the ground
my tears fall like fresh red blood
i shake as if i am cold
my eyes are dark as i sit thinking
your memory runs through my head
STOP my heart screams as i slow down
my heart slows
the shaking stops
everything freezes
but my mind still thinks of you
and my tears still fall

Red Is A Slow Colour
The black house in in my street
looks too dark just to go inside
But when I do
I cannot move because of
the mess in the hallway
The picture on the wall is chaotic
I don't want to look at it
But when I do
I cannot speak because of
the confusion in my head
I am unfit and I want to leap away
But when I do
The red colour comes after me
It is fierce and it moves slow
The picture on the wall is chaotic
I don't want to look at it
But when I do
I cannot speak because of
the confusion in my head
I am unfit and I want to leap away
But when I do
The red colour comes after me
It is fierce and it moves slow

When Bullets Speak
When bullets speak
It ushers Silence
As all become weak
End of the sentence.
When bullets speak
More blood will flow
There's no Peace to seek
More Wars will grow.
When bullets speak
No one to counter
For the dead are meek
Lie in surrender.

A Thanksgiving Prayer
I am grateful:
For this day, for those past and those ahead
For my family, who love me despite me.
For Friends both old and new
For life, each day I feel blessed anew
For food and shelter in the midst of want
For health and vitality and lessons learnt.
For the many bridges that will not be burnt.
I am especially grateful for the love of God; unchanging and sustaining. Amen

Michael Angelo In Reply To The Passage Upon His Staute Of Sleeping Night
'Night Speaks'
GRATEFUL is Sleep, my life in stone bound fast;
More grateful still: while wrong and shame shall last,
On me can Time no happier state bestow
Than to be left unconscious of the woe.
Ah then, lest you awaken me, speak low.
Grateful is Sleep, more grateful still to be
Of marble; for while shameless wrong and woe
Prevail, 'tis best to neither hear nor see.
Then wake me not, I pray you. Hush, speak low.
Come, gentle Sleep, Death's image tho' thou art,
Come share my couch, nor speedily depart;
How sweet thus living without life to lie,
Thus without death how sweet it is to die.

Under The Weather
Along the streets, my leaden feet plod:
In my mind, this all feels quite odd.
Usually, when walking, I keep a good pace,
But, at the moment, this is not the case.
When I cough, my chest gives a rattle.
Just to keep going, feels like a battle.
Walking along a road that's all uphill,
Is a real struggle, and takes all of my will.
I seem to have lost my ‘get up and go.'
My pace at the moment is painfully slow.
My nose is all flaky, and has gone red.
Now, when I cough, it hurts my head.
I don't really feel like a lot to eat.
I prefer sitting down to rest my feet.
My soul within, feels quite deflated.
At my slow pace, I feel quite frustrated.
I cough so much that my ribs are sore.
Having a cold has become a real bore.
From me, some folk are now steering clear:
In case of infection, they won't come near.
Chances are that my cough will hang on:
I will be so relieved when it has gone.
My nose keeps running, just like a tap.
My inner strength, my cold has sapped.
Having a cold, I find just so annoying:
With my patience, this cold is toying.
I can't wait to be back to my old self:
Feeling happy, and back to good health.

High Hopes
Monday morning runs to sunday night
Screaming slow me down before the new year dies
It wont take much to kill a lovin smile
And every mother with a baby cryin in her arms singin
Give me help, give me strength
Give a soul a night of fearless sleep
Give me love, give me peace
Dont you know these days you pay for everything
Got high hopes
Comin from the cities, comin from the wild
I see a breathless army breakin like a cloud
Its gonna smother love its gonna shoot your hopes
Before the meek inherit theyll learn to hate themselves
Singin
Give me help, give me strength
Give a soul a night of fearless sleep
Give me love, give me peace
Dont you know these days you pay for everything
Got high hopes
So tell me someone whats the price
I wanna buy some time and maybe live my life
I wanna have a wife I wanna have some kids
I want to look in their eyes and know theyre gonna stand a chance
Singin
Give me help, give me strength
Give a soul a night of fearless sleep
Give me love, give me peace
Dont you know these days you pay for everything
Got high hopes

To Haydon
Haydon! forgive me that I cannot speak
Definitively of these mighty things;
Forgive me, that I have not eagle's wings,
That what I want I know not where to seek,
And think that I would not be over-meek,
In rolling out upfollowed thunderings,
Even to the steep of Heliconian springs,
Were I of ample strength for such a freak.
Think, too, that all these numbers should be thine;
Whose else? In this who touch thy vesture's hem?
For, when men stared at what was most divine
With brainless idiotism and o'erwise phlegm,
Thou hadst beheld the full Hesperian shine
Of their star in the east, and gone to worship them!

Who
Every minute passes by
You're always talking
Makes me cry
Finding out the reasons why
I'm needing space get out my ride
Talking about what I do, where I go, who I'm with and why I don't bring you
Think about the times you pushed me
Saying "baby please don't go"
You make me sick
Yeah, yeah
I'll make you lost in
Times before you break my small
You claim you love me, tease me, leave me, hold me, please me
Get off I'm movin on
Cos I'm tryin to take control
Chorus:
But it's you talking dirty
When I'm trying to sleep
And it's you, said you love me
After just one week
Tell me who's always calling on my telephone
Now it's you tryin to tell me
We should take things slow
And you said: "don't go, don't go, please don't go
Please don't leave me, on my own
Don't go, don't go, please don't go
Please don't leave me, on my own"
You're creepin, sneaking, cheating, on me
Leavin, this round,
Gotta end the strike cos it ain't going down
Now you wanna come back, claim you give me a track
I forgive what you do then you want it back
I'm sick of playing this game
I ain't sticking with a claim fame
Stop this, right now
You crossed the line so baby get the hell out
Chorus:
But it's you talking dirty
When I'm trying to sleep
And it's you, said you love me
After just one week (just one week yeah)
Tell me who's always calling on my telephone
Now it's you tryin to tell me
We should take things slow (take things slow)
Chorus:
But it's you talking dirty
When I'm trying to sleep (yeah)
And it's you, said you love me
After just one week (just one week yeah yeah)
Tell me who's always calling on my telephone (telephone)
Now it's you tryin to tell me
We should take things slow (take things slow)
And you said: "don't go, don't go, please don't go (no)
Please don't leave me, on my own (please don't)
Don't go, don't go, please don't go (oh)
Please don't leave me, on my own" (on my own)
Make up your mind boy
Silly games you're always playing
Have no time boy
To sit and chase you
I ain't staying
Well, thinking it's funny
Well, you're spending money
And, every time you wanna get the upper hand remember
I'll be walking away looking cool with my
Matching bag and the jewels that I took
Don't you ever say it's not necessary
Then beg to come back
I ain't having that
Ooh whoa
Chorus:
But it's you talking dirty
When I'm trying to sleep
And it's you, said you love me
After just one week
Tell me who's always calling on my telephone
Now it's you tryin to tell me
We should take things slow (take things slow)
Chorus:
But it's you talking dirty
When I'm trying to sleep
And it's you, said you love me
After just one week (just one week)
Tell me who's always calling on my telephone
(Yes it's you) Now it's you tryin to tell me
We should take things slow (take things slow)
And you said: "don't go, don't go (don't go), please don't go (oh no)
Please don't leave me (on my own), on my own
Don't go, don't go (don't go), please don't go (oh no)
Please don't leave me, on my own" (on my own)

The Stranger
Never am I so alone
As when I walk among the crowd —
Blurred masks of stern or grinning stone,
Unmeaning eyes and voices loud.
Gaze dares not encounter gaze,…
Humbled, I turn my head aside;
When suddenly there is a face…
Pale, subdued and grievous-eyed.
Ah, I know that visage meek,
Those trembling lips, the eyes that shine
But turn from that which they would seek
With an air piteous, divine!
There is not a line or scar,
Seal of a sorrow or disgrace,
But I know like sigils are
Burned in my heart and on my face.
Speak! O speak! Thou art the one!
But thou hast passed with sad head bowed;
And never am I so alone
As when I walk among the crowd.

Two Sonnets. To Haydon, With A Sonnet Written On Seeing The Elgin Marbles

Of their star in the east, and gone to worship them.
II. On Seeing The Elgin Marbles.
My spirit is too weak - mortality
Weighs heavily upon me like unwilling sleep,
And each imagined pinnacle and steep
Of godlike hardship tells me I must die
Like a sick eagle looking at the sky.
Yet 'tis a gentle luxury to weep
That I have not the cloudy winds to keep,
Fresh for the opening of the morning's eye.
Such dim-conceived glories of the brain
Bring round the heart an undescribable feud;
So do these wonders a most dizzy pain,
That mingles Grecian grandeur with the rude
Wasting of old Time -- with a billowy main --
A sun -- a shadow of a magnitude.

The Meek Shall Inherit The Earth
The bible says the meek shall inherit the earth
And I believe this to be true.
Just look at all- that these woman can do.
They was always the backbone of man
And they knew that thru their strength
That man would understand.
Behind every famous man, a woman was
Always there- and with them
their fame they would share.
Then slowly through out the centuries
They started to claim their rights
And for their freedom - they would
Gladly stand and fight.
So many famous women that are in
The annexes of history and that is
the way -'that it was meant to be.'
Now we're in the 21st century
And they have gotten so much to date
They are in every job field
Although a little late.
They saw their dreams and set their goals
And it mattered not if they was young or old
Dreams can be achieved by anyone you see
But it took the women, to see the reality.
They are the meek that I speak of
Who became the shadow of man
But when the sun is behind us
Then you'll understand.
The shadow is now in front of us
Leading the way, because this is
A new era, and the start of a brand new day.

Bursting Clouds
Lifting over the horizon
the ground shrinks and falls
into a memory, that disappears
into mountains of white, where
silver winged seraphs soar
and silently burst
through the icy mist
Sound crackles electric as it
touches the glass, catching
the distant familiar buzz
of a native tongue that
calls us back
On slow currents we return
to the ground, now growing
and rising from a memory
that returns in the squealing of tires
that slow and stop
my breath, and turn the mountains
back to mere clouds
dissolving in the sunlight
that beats down on old pavement
black and burned
and my head
forever skyward turned

Slow Dance
Its a slow dance
Take a little time for some romance
Come a little closer baby, slow dance
Whisperin the words I want to hear
Its been a long night
Now my head is on your shoulder and its so right
Your sweet and gentle kisses on these closin eyes
Tonight I will be dreaming of you
(*) when I saw you for the first time
I never thought that this could be
I never thought youd come my way
I never thought Id hear you say dance with me
Now its a slow dance
Repeat (*)
Now its a slow song
Seems that Ive been waiting for it so long
Waiting for this moment and someone like you
To make all my dreams come true
Someone like you, oh baby

Dont Speak
You and me
We used to be together
Every day together always
I really feel
That Im losing my best friend
I cant believe
This could be the end
It looks as though youre letting go
And if its real,
Well I dont want to know
Dont speak
I know just what youre saying
So please stop explaining
Dont tell me cause it hurts
Dont speak
I know what youre thinking
I dont need your reasons
Dont tell me cause it hurts
Our memories
They can be inviting
But some are altogether
Mighty frightening
As we die, both you and i
With my head in my hands
I sit and cry
Dont speak
I know just what youre saying
So please stop explaining
Dont tell me cause it hurts no no no
Dont speak
I know what youre thinking
And I dont need your reasons
Dont tell me cause it hurts
Its all ending,
I gotta stop pretending who we are...
You and me
I can see us dying... are we?
Dont speak
I know just what youre saying
So please stop explaining
Dont tell me cause it hurts no no
Dont speak
I know what youre thinking
And I dont need your reasons
Dont tell me cause it hurts
Dont tell me cause it hurts
I know what youre saying
So please stop explaining
Dont speak dont speak dont speak
No I know what youre thinking
And I dont need your reasons
I know you good I know you good
I know you real good oh
La la la la la la la la la
Dont dont ooh ooh
Hush hush darling
Hush hush darling
Hush hush dont tell me cause it hurts
Hush hush darling
Hush hush darling
Hush hush dont tell me cause it hurts
