Finesse by Talile Ali

the pipe was cracked from over-use
the windows were all steamed
The sheets were pulled from much abuse
the door ajarred and gleemed
as the cleaning lady with her key
about her busy ways
bags the trash as usual
the beddings second place
trips and screams, to her surprise
a lump upon the floor
this over-worked professional
checked out the night before
the scream attracks the manager
So cool, he grabs the phone
smoothing his hair, quickly conveys
this ridget bag of bones
the cops are quick to so address
this tragedy in blue
with such finesse this street princess
is shuttled to her tomb

Cherry Pie

Dirty, Rotten, Filthy, Stinky
She's my cherry pie
Cool drink of water
Such a sweet surprise
Tastes so good
Make a grown man cry
Sweet Cherry Pie
Yeah
Wow
Heh Heh
Well swinging on the front porch
Swinging on the lawn
Swinging where we want
Cause there ain't nobody home
Swingin' to the left and
Swingin' to the right
I think about baseball
I'll swing all night, yeah
Yeah, yeah - huh!
Swingin in the living room
Swingin' in the kitchen
Most folks don't
Cause they're too busy bitchin'
Swingin' in there
Cause she wanted me to feed her
So I mixed up the batter
And she licked the beater
I scream, you scream,
We all scream for her
Don't even try
Cause you can't ignore her
CHORUS
She's my cherry pie
Cool drink of water
Such a sweet surprise
Tastes so good make a grown man cry
Sweet cherry pie
Oh yeah
She's my cherry pie
Put a smile on your face
Ten miles wide
Looks so good
Bring a tear to your eye
Sweet cherry pie
Yeah sweet cherry pie
Yeah
Swingin to the drums
Swingin to guitar
Swingin to the bass in the back of my car
Ain't got money, ain't got no gas
Get where were goin if we swing real fast
I scream, you scream,
We all scream for her
Don't even try
Cause you can't ignore her
She's my cherry pie
Cool drink of water
Such a sweet surprise
Tastes so good make a grown man cry
Sweet cherry pie
Oh yeah
She's my cherry pie
Put a smile on your face
Ten miles wide
Looks so good
Bring a tear to your eye
Sweet cherry pie
Yeah sweet cherry pie
Yeah
Swing it
All night long
Swing it
Hey, hey, Ow!
I'm a trained professional
Swingin' in the bathroom
Swingin' on the floor
Swingin' so hard
Forgot to lock the door
In walks her daddy
Standin' six foot four
Said, "You ain't gonna swing
with my daughter no more."
CHORUS
Sweet Cherry Pie
Yeah! Huh!
Swing it!

Novameco A Journey

You are lost and you’re telling me you are lost
And you are so afraid about doing things in the usual ways

So you come out from your window
You do not use the door
Or the stairs because as you said you do not like to things
In the most usual ways

You are tired of the usual ways and they do not appeal to your
Sense of exciting
Journey

A journey to the unusual to the unknown desert to the undiscovered
Ways
When you go home tonight you shall take the path of stars
As you wonder
To this place

Where there are not stairs no doors no windows
Where there is no house

And you take the journey alone and there will be no directions
You will like it

Trash

It aint the way you crawl across
The cathouse floor
It aint the way you curse me
When you slam the bedroom door
It aint the way you sweat me for a
Handful of easy cash
Its just the way you love me
When you turn to trash
Trash
Its not the way you dress when
You socialize, oh those eyes
It aint the diamond rock or that
Rolls you drive
You can walk the streets with all
Your uptown flash, such flash
But when you hit the sheets you
Just turn to trash
Youre such trash
I love the way you look
Youre such a high class tramp
Itd not the way you touch me
When you...
Youre daddys dream, youre a
Peach in cream
And youre finally ripe at last
But when you hit the sheets you
Just turn to trash
Trash

Neighbours

The house across the road, number 104
has new windows and a stained glass door.
It's two months since a young couple moved in
working hard and tirelessly renovating.

I think they're about finished, it looks complete,
and it takes its place with the best on the street.
Yesterday the young man fitted an outside light
to add the finishing touch, and it looks just right.

At bedtime this evening as I was about to get into bed
the drawn bedroom curtains looked unusually red.
I pulled them aside and to my complete surprise
a red light shone bright before my eyes.

The next day I could no longer suffer in silence,
so asked my neighbour if he knew of its significance.
Fortunately he didn't and quickly replaced the bulb of red,
leaving all the street to sleep much happier in bed.

The Tablets

The tablet stood on the counter,
Pulling us aside like a trap;
The door cracked afterwards,
Like Saturn’s rings or eggs.
Only a year turned us upside down,
Left the door locked, at the end.
I grabbed the door before the floor
Collapsed and this ringing started.
The door cracked again, repetitively,
Once it broke, the door collapsed.
I pulled the refuse onto the counter
To await sleep and the medicine.

Cops And Donuts

When I was on the freeway, doing 70 all drunk
A copper pulled me over, and I thought that I was sunk
He came up to my car, I thought up a little trick
I took a donut, jelly filled, and put it on a stick
He came up to my window, and shouted to get out
So I quickly took the donut and I shoved it in his mouth
So I drove away, he shouted for some more
So I threw it out the window and he ate it off the floor
Cops and donuts
Cops love donuts
Cops love donuts
Cops and donuts

Don't Hit Her

Stop stop!
Your hurting her!
Let her go!

My mind slows
As he delivers each blow
Protect her is what my heart screams
My eyes sting as my tears stream
Hit me! Hit me!
Fight somone your own size!
He begins to rise.
To my surprise
He leaves
Grabs his keys
He's out the door
Me and my mom are left crying on the floor
Still hungry
Still poor

Cleaning Windows

Oh, the smell of the bakery from across the street
Got in my nose
As we carried our ladders down the street
With the wrought-iron gate rows
I went home and listened to jimmie rodgers in my lunch-break
Bought five woodbines at the shop on the corner
And went straight back to work.
Oh, sam was up on top
And I was on the bottom with the v
We went for lemonade and paris buns
At the shop and broke for tea
I collected from the lady
And I cleaned the fanlight inside-out
I was blowing saxophone on the weekend
In that down joint.
Whats my line?
Im happy cleaning windows
Take my time
Ill see you when my love grows
Baby dont let it slide
Im a working man in my prime
Cleaning windows (number a hundred and thirty-six)
I heard leadbelly and blind lemon
On the street where I was born
Sonny terry, brownie mcghee,
Muddy waters singin Im a rolling stone
I went home and read my christmas humphreys book on zen
Curiosity killed the cat
Kerouacs dharma bums and on the road
Whats my line?
Im happy cleaning windows
Take my time
Ill see you when my love grows
Baby dont let it slide
Im a working man in my prime
Cleaning windows...

The Waiting Watchers

They shall come in the black weathers
From the heart of the dead embers,
Walking one and two over the hill.
And they shall be with you, never farther
Than your bedside.
At their will
The smell of putrefaction lingers
And floor is carpetted with rotting hair;
Or sheets are torn to shreds
By the beaks of dead dry birds
And the red blood clots in your cup.
Put up your swords!
What steel can cut the throat of next year's dream,
What tongue is tunes to speak last night's quick scream?
Go alone by darkness;
Burn the clippings of your nail;
Donate a thousand candles.
But do as you will,
When sun is blind and lamps are lit once more,
Two and one, they shall be standing
At your door

Cool City

Icy steel shooting through concrete, cool city
Mountains of glass reflect the sky
Everybody feels real good in cool city
Each day brings a new surprise
Johnny came two-thousand miles to the cool city
He came to see what makes things tick
He cut his hair and bought new clothes in the cool city
Finally found his lifes ambition
How to do nothing perfectly
To do it with style so gracefully
cause life is so delicious in cool city
Outside no ones on the street
Dont stop or youll miss a beat
Someones standing in a doorway -- cool city
You open the door and check him out so casually
The musics blasting all night long in cool city
They recognize his face, so its all right
This one knew the right address
He even knew someone in a band
While the others wait all night standing there in
Cool city
So hard to make the right friends
You might have to sell some skin
The nights go on forever
The blacks they all hate the whites
The whites think theyre tough, but theyre not, cool city
The boys go out with each other
The girls who will be in movies
If youre high, youre in the right place, cool city
Animals seek out their own kind
Shake some hands and take a lunch in cool city
Someones going to try and tempt you
Listen to all the brilliant plans in the cool city
Its all free now, but youll pay later with your soul
Pray to the the objects on the wall
That youll stay young and never grow old
So come on, the waters fine
Have a drink, snort a line
cause the nights get very chilly here in cool city

Singapore Border Blues

I came by bus in a swirl of dust in the summer of seventy two.
I was young, I was poor, I hoped to score but I really hadn't a clue.

The seats were hard; I was on my guard when we bolted from the bus.
The border was there, but I had long hair so they readied to hassle us.

They were men in blue, a few women too, taking our arrival card.
They saw my face, they knew their place, they were going to make it hard.

"You have an air; you have long hair so you must observe our laws"
So Kate my friend did a bend and pulled out her best scissors.

She got to work, without a jerk and as quick as a Christmas sale,
She snip here, she snip there until my scalp was bare and pale.

His face turned sour, this was not my hour and he gave me back my case,
"You littered the floor, there's the door, you're not welcomed at this place."

So I left my hair and without much care, I turned and went on with our trip.
My head was bald but I wasn't cold and we eventually caught a ship.

It's been many a year, and Kate's gone from here since that incident.
I have a wife, I have a life and I have been quite content.

I travelled wide, gone with the tide and corners of the world I saw.
I made it a rule, it was even cool, to make sure to avoid Singapore.

Until one day, it would be fair to say, that the city needed my skills,
Return this way, there's plenty of pay, enough to cover my bills.

The flight was easy, I was never queasy, so I walked into the arrival hall:
Airport was clean, like a big machine, but the impression: good overall.

The men were in blue, a woman there too, who took the pass from my hand,
She gave a smile to greet, offered a sweet and welcomed me to this land.

For a small fee, I took the M.R.T., and the ad. there made me stare
Phone Beijing 101*, to have this done: Singapore will re-grow my hair.

She Is fir MY Lady Irene

My lady strolls to take the air.
The flowers bow as she goes by,
because they know they can’t compare
with my lady, so they don’t try.
The song birds sing my lady’s praise,
sweet music to my lady’s taste.
Here as she walks the woodland ways
They flock to sing to her; in haste
Where e’re she walks a cool breeze blows
plays with the glory of her hair.
It is as if all nature knows
my lady’s more than passing fair
She walks in beauty naturally.
she is as she was meant to be.

What's Cooking?

So how are you,
Have you pulled through?

Still wallowing in pills
Content with your ills?

Those drugs you use
Of course you'll abuse

There's no easy way
You escape it today

Just a quick trip
To put you to sleep

A nice harmless high
That will make you fly

Those drugs aren't cool
Turned you into a fool

That child was a friend
Your eyes saw a chicken

Slashed her throat dry
Intending to fry

And then you were sober
But her life was over

So now you serve time
For that heinous crime

Blamed the drugs you get
But never forget

All the pills you were taking
Had your brains a-cooking!

'There is a way that seems right to a man, but in the end it leads to destruction.'

Triple Homicide

I'm glad the fighting's stopped
the house is silent
empty
this is how I like it

no yelling
no fights
no broken glass
silence

when they're both gone I'm happy
but when they come home
I go straight to my room
I try to be quiet
as I listen to music in the closet

the fight begins
there screaming
this time I hear my name
I ignore it
not wanting to join the fight

my dad bursts in yelling for me
my window left open he screams
he thinks I'm gone
I thought quickly
as my mom ran in

silence
silence
silence

my dad yells again
at my crying mom
I cry silently
as she's pulled from the room
screaming

I hear a gunshot and I jump
grabbing a pocket knife
from my jacket

the cries stop
then another shot
a loud thump
as a body falls

I climb out of the closet
knife in hand
blood pouring out my
parents bedroom door

silence

I open the door and see two
bodies on the floor
a gun in my father's hand

silence
silence
silence

then sirens
and cops coming around the corner
so I take the gun from my dad
hold it to my head
a loud pop
then
silence
silence
silence
t he cops would
call this a triple homicide
or double homicide and suicide
but I call this
a family
who needed help

Why daddy?

I got the phone call yesterday
It came as a real shock
As I was just doing my homework
Listening to that vexing tick tock

They said...

“I am really sorry to say
Your daddy has passed away
He was killed in a roadside bomb
I’m sorry...” and she hung up the phone

I stood still
As dead as a rock
But all I could think was wont
Someone shut up that stupid clock
I pulled it from the wall
And watched it shatter to pieces

As the tears welled up in my eyes
Like an over flowing bath
I slowly sank to the floor
Just like an airless balloon

I sat there pondering
Daddy why did you leave me
I sat there wondering
We were good together; weren’t we?

A sudden knock at the door
Ringed through my head
They had come to get me
Co’s daddy was dead

As quickly as possible
I raced around
Trying to stop them
With anything found

I was crazy frantic
“I don’t know what to do! ”
I grabbed the knife desperately
It was the only thing I could do

I just want to see daddy
And I hit the floor with a thud
As they bust of the door
And saw the pool of blood

Im only 12 plz dont be too harsh

Dangerous Driving

Blue day too quickly ends
consumed by foggy night.

Proceed with care
or mesmerized by garish light,
you’ll quickly see how
steel sharply grinds
and tears at fragile flesh,

and, too surprised to scream,
you’ll fall into that empty space
behind life’s busy dream.

So keep control!
Hold tightly the narrow wheel
and never let it go.

Surprise Me Again

Well I remember the day when she said go away
I rearrange my hair
Well I cant take anymore
I bought some natural food
And then I fell on the floor
Well I cant take anymore
I need a change of address
By the way, why cant you smile
She said at first it was great
And in the middle I stayed
But at the end I was sick
I said Ive got to get out quick
Then you suddenly smiled
You took me by surprise
You suddenly smiled
You took me by again
Well I remember the time
Wrapped up nice and cosy
She was washing my hair
Well I was thinking of midnight, falling in love
Watching the rain fall
When we relax Im going to sleep on your chest
And listen to your beats
And lets go to norway, live in rain and snow
And get totally depressed about nothing
At all really hello
Then you suddenly smiled
You took me by surprise
You suddenly smiled
You took me by again
You suddenly smiled
You suddenly smiled, again and again
You cant smile
Then you suddenly smiled
You took me by surprise
You suddenly smiled
You took me by again
You suddenly smiled
You suddenly smiled
You suddenly smiled
You suddenly smiled
You took me by again

Abandoned Luncheonette

They sat in an abandoned luncheonette
Sipping imaginary cola and drawing faces in the tabletop dust
His voice was rusty from years as a sergeant on this mans army
They were old and crusty
She was twenty when the diner was a baby
He was the dishwasher, busy in the back, his hands covered with
Gravy
Hair black and wavy
Brilliantine slick, a pot - cleaning dandy,
He was young and randy
Day to day, to day... today
Then they were old, their lives wasted away
Month to month, year to year
They all run together
Time measured by the peeling of paint on the luncheonette wall
They sat together in the empty diner
Filled with cracked china
Old news was blowing across the filthy floor
And the sign on the door read this way out, thats all it read
Thats all it said

Night Flanger

I wake up in the evening
The sun is still around
The street seems to be busy
I hear the traffic sounds
Last nights been lousy
I had a lot to drink
Too many dry martinis
And cans of beer to sink
Another day, already night
Blue neon light
Blue neon light
I could call my rhianna
Ask her to meet me now
I think I lost her number
Its too late anyhow
I could turn on the tv
Or I could stay in bed
These asians drive me crazy
These asians drive me mad
Another day, already night
Blue neon light
Blue neon light
Night is near
Im still in bed
Red curtain
Soft wind
Sunlight
And I was red
On the papers
On the floor
We did watch possessed
People, push and pull it
Moss turf, and other lads
My heads still full of poison
What I do is insane
I should, perhaps, move out of here
Or take a plane to spain
Refrigerators noise
Ill get out, the only choice
Should I get up right now
Wait for me somehow
Dont wanna know what for
To get out of this door
Should I phone debbie meier?
Is this the one desire?
I look into the mirror
My eyes cant be in error
The suns now really gone
Perhaps I am the one
Nothing can creep in sight
Im turning on the lights
Turning on the lights
Im turning on the lights (5x)
The suns now really gone
Perhaps I am the one
