Refraction
Step aside.
The white flowing mane
was going to become the adrenaline.
Fear of silence was turning into a green wound.
The dissenting life-blood has vandalized
the moon. There was a provocation
from the black stars. The leopard
was ready to tear open the zoo.
The outreach was a puzzling thing.
Who was responsible for rearing
the panthers in captivity? The tail, the claws,
the teeth were vulnerable.
I was sick of pretentions. Every act
had a motive of loss or gain. Night or day
the sphinx always looms large. You can
walk in, to talk to coffin.

Rose
slowly running the color goes from the rose
turning green to grey and red to black
as if blood flowing from my body
my soft flesh turning hard and limp
but right before death the blood returns
bringing life which it has tooken
turning my black rose blue
representing new life with sorrow
the rare sorrow of regret
you are my savior

Playing Golf at Midnight
Playing golf in the moonlight,
at midnight, at night, when light
cannot be trusted, when sight
deceives, it can’t be right.
He drives the sphere with the craters
like the moon, white like the moon,
orbiting like the moon; soon
it will collide with grass or sand, and
the black night will swallow the white
moon and the driving sphere
and no one will know where
went the white and where went the black
and why.
And after the ball has divorced its tee
and after the moon laughs
and retires behind the roofs
of the neighborhood houses,
the silence of the green
and the heartbreaking loveliness
of the green emerge and converge
and here in the suburban
wilderness, the only home he has,
he sees for the first time
how clouds absorb
and disperse
the light of the moon.

Aurora Borealis
A crystallization of color spreads from the upper regions of the dark sky towards the trembling nipples of the waves. The feathering fringes of clouds fade behind pillars of green light. Transparent curtains tremble every-where. In the arctic temple, the hidden Samson of light shakes the moon-green pillars of the night.
Color these crystals with sudden blood; it is dawn, or else the last consumptive saliva of the dying day. Heartless hard light!
In the crisp light of the frozen tinkling stars, no waters flow. The ice-stars are icebergs in this black ocean. When the green glass cathedrals crash, the light and the pillars of light and the green pillars of moon-green crystallized light are reflected through space and finally settle like sharp blades above the trembling nipples of the waves.
Samson moves in the glass cathedrals. Samson and the bull and Samson and the sun and the sun is the bull and Samson is the sun and is the bull.
Let crackling twigs of green-white light weave fantastic tree-patterns on the mirror of the sea. Let the deceptive sky celebrate the fall of its ice-cathedrals and its icebergs and its ice-stars when darkness hardens the black waters into the sullen black ice-pack of night.
Red Samson the arctic red sun is moving in the groves of green pillars. There is the red tinge of consumptive blood flickering behind the moon-green glass pillars of light. Blood of red Samson, red blood of Samson, the red thief is sprinkling blood on the slanting pillars of the falling sanctuary of light that is doomed to succumb soon to the black ice-pack of night. Then there will be night and, suddenly thrust into dark night, the red sex of the Samson-sun must later rise out of eastern whiteness and destroy the night.
Then the pillars of the black shattered temple of night glow with a white light and a red light of consumptive blood, but again later comes night then again the same Samson as the temples crash each time when the red thief scatters blood on the pillars of the light or the pillars of the night. And the thief is Samson and the red sun is Samson and Samson is the thief and Samson is the sun.

Introspection
If you go deep
Into the heart
What do you find there?
Fear, fear,
Fear of the jaws of the rock,
Fear of the teeth and splinters of iron that tear
Flesh from the bone, and the moist
Blood, running unfelt
From the wound, and the hand
Suddenly moist and red.
If you go deep
Into the heart
What do you find?
Grief, grief,
Grief for the life unlived,
For the loves unloved,
For the child never to be born,
Th'unbidden anguish, when the fair moon
Rises over still summer seas, and the pain
Of sunlight scattered in vain on spring grass.
If you go deeper
Into the heart
What do you find there?
Death, death,
Death tht lets all go by,
Lets the blood flow from the wound,
Lets the night pass,
Endures the day with indifference, knowing that all must end.
Sorrow is not forever, ad sense
Endures no extremities,
Death is the last Secret implicit within you, the hidden, the deepest
Knowledge of all you will ever unfold
In this body of earth.

Leopard Watch
I saw the leopard watch his world,
No second's thought for me...
Yet angrily his hot tail swirled,
Tensed up, quite anxiously...
He must have sensed he was observed,
But I was hidden well
And though the leopard looked unnerved,
I smiled he couldn't tell...
I made no sound, no sound at all,
In fact, I didn't move...
When you're afraid, you're on the ball,
With nothing more to prove...
So there he was and there I was,
So near and yet so far...
The minutes went so fast because
To me, he was a star!
Distinguished markings, senses taut,
Mouth open, teeth on show...
Determined something would be caught
Before the sun must go...
Then suddenly he saw me here!
He chased me off his turf!
Good God, I've never known such fear!
Must dash! I've seen enough!

magnificent painting by Stephen Gayford

The Night Sky
The Night Sky
Stars Were So Bright In The Nights Dark Sky
The Little Lights That Lit Up The Black Spots In Space
Stars That We Wondered In
And Saw Many Wonderful Things
Like The Many Stars That Are Out There...
How There Are So Many Lights In The Night Sky...
How The Night Sky Could Look So Great
In Only Black And White
The Same Thing, The Same Looks..
Yet So Many Objects And Point Outs Of Our Imagination
Oh, How The Night Sky
When We Look On about Its The Same Sky We See When We're Away From Each other
The Same Crescent Moon, The Same Stars
The Same Look Outs That Remind Me Of You.

Lie Still, Sleep Becalmed
Lie still, sleep becalmed, sufferer with the wound
In the throat, burning and turning. All night afloat
On the silent sea we have heard the sound
That came from the wound wrapped in the salt sheet.
Under the mile off moon we trembled listening
To the sea sound flowing like blood from the loud wound
And when the salt sheet broke in a storm of singing
The voices of all the drowned swam on the wind.
Open a pathway through the slow sad sail,
Throw wide to the wind the gates of the wandering boat
For my voyage to begin to the end of my wound,
We heard the sea sound sing, we saw the salt sheet tell.
Lie still, sleep becalmed, hide the mouth in the throat,
Or we shall obey, and ride with you through the drowned.

The Wolf and The Moon
The Wolf and The Moon
By Tolly Rebeka Christian BlackWolf Hawk
The day is past and the Moon now rises from beneath the mountain to greet the stars.
The Moon smiles on the sleeping towns, their drone wound down. However, in the
forest, Life is still flowing full speed. The Owl fly’s his “day” begun, “Who, Halloo
Moon! ” “Hello to you Owl.” The Moon spins on his way. He makes many more
greetings to the animals of the forest. He starts to grow weary, and makes ready to bed
down for the day when the Wolf came to visit and talk as the animals and Moon talk,
“My good friend Wolf! How are you? ” Wolf jumps playfully to and fro, “I am glad
Wolf that it has been good for you! It is almost time for the Sun to come up now, I
have to go home.” The Wolf whimpered and followed the Moon. When the Moon was
almost home he turned to the Wolf and asked, “Why do you follow me? ” the Wolf
jumped and landed in the Moons hands and curled up with a tremendous sigh. “No
Wolf you cannot come with me, not yet, but now that I know you love me we will be
together in spirit, and someday you will be able to come with me to my home to live.”
For years, the Wolf ran with the Moon at night, and then they would part ways at
dawn. One day while the sun was shining brightly the Wolf, now old to earthly eyes,
faded to a wisp of mist from mortal sight, on the night of the New Moon. You could
see, that night, a cloud in his shape running before the Moon, and as the Moon grew
fuller you could see on the face of the Moon a shape like that old Wolf, you could see a
promise kept. The Moon and Wolf were friends, one entity forever.

A Mixed Breed
I have the blood of a white man,
My papa's blood that is.
I have the blood of a black woman,
My mama's blood that is.
And so my blood is a mixture
Of blood that's hers and his.
It courses through my veins each day
With its color imbed.
And every time I have cut myself
The color of it's red.
Can't tell which is my papa's
Or mama's that I see?
Only thing I really see
Is it doesn't matter to me.
I've been loved by black and white.
I've been hated too.
Sometimes at night while I'm in bed
I wonder when I'm through
Will I be judged by the color of my skin
Which is neither black nor white?
Or the blood that gave to me my life
as I tried to do everything right?

Tell Me Now. Does It Satisfy?
Blood spattered across the midnight sky. Tell me now. Does it satisfy? Can you feel it in the pit of your stomach? The anguish of years. A fountain of tears. A pledge, a promise broken. Anger re awoken. Blood spattered across the midnight sky. Tell me now. Does it satisfy? With every lie a deep web is woven. Has every thing from you been stolen? Do you feel as if your at someones mercy? Does fear have you pinned down so tight. Its just not right. Your a victim of your own ability to be free. Swallow all your dignity. Say those two words help me. Or take matters into your hands. Blood spattered across the midnight sky. Tell me now. Does it satisfy? Smile as you walk in denile. Its not really happening. Another proclamation of your imagination. Reality becomes a horrible trip. It would make most so sick. They couldn't take it. You just get deviant. Sneak around. Step so lightly. For next time he might be ready and waiting. Blood spattered across the midnight sky. Tell me now. Does it satisfy? Does it ever satisfy

Go Away
Unlived death, that was me
waking in exile from the bones.
He said I remember your verse
a split open bloom!
Given away your gems to sea
ready to become ash, green blood,
you have killed a white cloud
now go for a floral burial.
He said I remained unpacked
like an open wound.
How far space will hang on the shoulders,
how far the sky will remain blue?
Snow will not melt I presume
I will burn my shirt with stain.
Life will not stop but conceive
the proud burning pain.
I stand today without complaints
grieve for my silence, ignorance.
There was a home I could not save
miles from water like bright dome.

The Guardian and BloodRose
BloodRose,
Rose of my love,
My love for Dark moon,
Dark as my heart,
Black as my soul,
And gave me my rose.
The rose of blood,
With petals soft and black,
Never as a rose so beautiful,
Grown not in light,
But under a dark moon lit sky.
Guardian,
Yes a guardian of BloodRose,
With teeth long and sharp,
Claws hard as diamonds,
Scales as dark as night.
My dear sweet guardian,
Guardian black as my heart,
Fire in your eyes,
Shadows in your soul,
A dragon of the dark moon.
A single rose,
With petals so fare,
As dark as my heart,
I now hold in my hand,
The rose of blood.
You are my darkness,
Fear of this love,
This love for you,
Love for darkness,
The cold shadows in my heart
That makes me yearn for you.
Now as you lay dying,
I hold a single rose,
The rose you gave me,
And as I hold it tight,
The thorns slice my hand,
Covered with blood,
My blood.
I have one fear,
The fear of death,
Symbol of my lost love,
Rose as dark as me,
Laying in a pool of blood,
Blood from me.
As I lay dying,
I remember my name,
BloodRose,
I am the rose of blood,
And I died of my own creation.
A creation of perfect beauty,
Petals dark black,
Thorns like small daggers,
Grown from my love,
My love for a dragon,
A dragon as dark as my heart.
Even in my death,
I think of you,
And the rose you gave me,
The rose that killed me,
The Rose of Blood.

Red, Pulsing Blood!
dont talk to me of skin color,
my god is not white!
in fact, she runs with the wolves,
clothed in fur and claws and teeth!
sometimes she is the moonlight,
lighting their path,
other times the wind,
carrying their howls back to herself!
dont talk to me of skin color,
talk of blood! red, pulsing blood...
flesh and sweat and desire
wrapped in human spirit!

Step By Step
Its alright, its not wrong
To sometimes feel
Youre just hanging on
On those days when
Your feelings are low
Dont hold back
Just let those feelings show
If you want my time and devotion
Youve got to give me
Some of your emotion
Its not too much, too much to ask
If you want this love to last
Born with open eyes
But youre blinded by confusion
Born with strength
Lets do it step by step
Into tomorrow
We can make it if we try
Just talk to me, walk with me
Theres no reason why
Lets do it step by step
Into tomorrow with our open eyes
So come on talk to me
Just walk with me
You can do it if you try
One step, one step at a time
One heart beatin with mine
Nothing gained, nothing ventured
Nothing won, no risk, no loss
In this world of indecisions
Theres a bridge we all must cross
Born with open eyes
But youre blinded by confusion
Born with strength

So Lifetime After Lifetime
So lifetime after lifetime, sorceress of shadows and dreams
you step out of the dark wood of yourself,
a shy doe, a mournful lighthouse and a warning off the coast
of your infinite solitude, you, the singing bird
on the green bough of your flute pouring yourself
like sorrow over the eye of the sea, your tears,
the ancient wells of an eternal longing unanswered by the secret stars
that have entrusted their radiance to you, fireflies
drowning their light in your black candles,
the blind music of your lonely flowing. Is your flute, a bone, then,
and this rose I bring you, this heart, this blood
that has turned into a goblet of luminous wine,
drunk on the wonder and the missing in your phantom music,
is this rose nothing but a wound, a coffin-flower,
the unmarked grave of a mystic embryo?
Do you fear the tenderness, the meeting? Does the moon
strike at her own reflection in the mirror of her midnight waters
to wander like an orphan along her lifeless shores?
Boy and man, you murder me on the steps of your serpent shrine,
your eyes, cold glass, eclipses of crystal, your spirit
that once drew in the light like breath,
now a slow glacier, an age of ice
pushing your heart before it like a boulder,
like a temple-stone that one night flew out of the abyss
and buried itself like a meteor, a charred jewel, the demon seed
of a religion without saviours, your implacable creed
scriptures of blood in a mouthless book
that only love can open. Once there were swallows in the tree of life,
asylums of celebrants greeting the morning in their madness,
in the garden, in Eden, hurled through that first dawn
like a young girl's heart trembling like a dropp of light on a blade of grass.
Now your voice is a gypsy-crow on a dead branch,
your music, confession without atonement, your flute
without leaves, without orchards, an eyeless spring,
buried in its manger-cloth for years, nothing
but a crib-death, a broken wand, a phoenix
that has lost its faith in fire under the weight of its own ashes.
Beloved, again and again you kill me
in this dance of slayer and slain, tear out
this page of love like a like a child's tongue, like a mute heresy
you are doomed to rewrite forever
in the indelible inks of your seeing.
Do you dip your pen like a water-bird drinking
from its own image, putting out your eyes
to deepen the darkness, the scars of your sin
the lightless letters of a hidden language
pricked out on your skin, black stars and braille tattoos?
The pages and the years may turn like wings and hinges,
and a thousand deaths, all your own,
tome the field with gravestones,
breathless flutes and hollow bones, ancient futures;
and you the only mistress of those solitary realms; still,
your legend will remain moonless and sunless,
the story of a night sky, the eyelid of a black rose,
that couldn't break into light. Until
love stands beside the heartwell of another
as if it were its own sacred fountain,
one blood, one wind-mingled music
playing the waves like plectra, and raises the rim
of the single goblet to its lips and tastes,
only silence answers the terrible vastness,
only death graces the obscenity of these loveless wastes.

Reality Bites
reality has a picture
an old one, still black and white
for which i have
this love-hate relationship
of keeping it and
then throwing it away
again
reality has a way of showing me
that i cannot escape
and here i am as always
visiting it alone when no one is watching
we are friends finally
and we keep secrets
reality knows how to keep this secret
this Sphinx of my mind
that black bird with strong wings that
can fly away whenever it likes
to
and stay on top of the situation
saying:
' i can manage the weight
of silence'
reality this venomous snake that bites
me and can kill me
even
but through time i have taken much
dose by
dose
teeth to
teeth
and so
i gained this immunity
of death and pain
'we get attuned
to heat'
the desert has this
wisdom
somehow
reality is skin to my bones and flesh
or bones and blood
wrapped in sealed
epidermic containers
i have all the options for lying like the other woman
next door
and then suffer
and then be too unhappy
or just
be the happiest man
for the moment
two faces, day and night
when we get older we know what is this all about
and it is not even worth mentioning at all

Golden ginger Persian cat (Terzanelle)
You walk right up to me
with your striped tail in the air,
a hunter to the nth degree
with golden ginger hair,
you become a machine with claws and slim curves,
with your striped tail in the air
at the ready with nerves
at a razor’s edge,
you become a machine with claws and slim curves,
suddenly with electricity, sneaking up to the hedge
staring intently, ready to strike
at a razor’s edge,
waiting patiently like a shrike
with poise
staring intently, ready to strike
loosing interest and without any noise
you walk right up to me
with poise,
a hunter to the nth degree.

The world is a bewildering big box
Among flowers a green leaf
Among words let silence live
Flowers are dreams leaf is life
Words are waste silence is love
Among stars the moon is above
Stands over head with honey spoon
Below dancing the poverty crone
No morality no humanity, might is right
Some lives in luxury some in plight
Love is wonder life is a miracle
Destiny is mystery fate is riddle
The blood of the poor is sweeter
The same harping of the old guitar
The philosophy of life is fantastic
More puzzling is when logic devours logic
No where is the truth and beauty
In reality the true fact is the irony
The world is a bewildering big box
Here lies permanently only the paradox.

(Angry Poem) Absolute Destruction
One step closer, one inch further,
to absolute destruction.
Tear it all down.
Move out of the way.
Or i will dig into you,
with claws sharper then a scalpel.
One step closer, one inch further,
to absolute destruction.
Vengeance is a game best played numb,
so numb. I'm a black hole.
I'll suck you in. then with the strongest gravity,
ill crush you to oblivion.
I just cant take it anymore.
As hard as I try this time.
I don't think some people will survive.
Its my wrath that cast a shadow of an overcast.
One step closer, one inch further,
to absolute destruction.
Feel the rhythm, its a sooth Sayer.
That plays music in such a way,
that my body becomes an iron cage.
Fight to free yourself.
You just can't. It wont break.
You are mine.
You are in heaven already.
You just don't know it.
You infected me with your sick
bent twisted blistered ideas.
I tell them to leave me alone.
They still don't go.
One step closer, one inch further,
to absolute destruction.
Seen it all before.
Open the door an come fourth once more.

The Night Sky
Night sky, Night sky
Twinkling stars near by
White moon, white moon
You light up the night in full bloom
The night in display
Watching this sky play
Hiding behind the clouds
Are these silvery bright stars
Ready in action
The sky a distraction
Sweet kiss from these tender lips
And the feeling of love at my finger tips
