Taller than what I had been,
Older than what I had been, and
Wiser than what I had been,
I rewrite what I have written.

We do not get to this age to be written off. Older people can act as a support system, which is what happens more in Mediterranean countries. People become much wiser as they get older and we should value that.

I Have Always Wanted to Write You One, Sorry it Took so Long to Find My Inspiration...Hey That Rhymes!
Written: October 12,2011
Since we were born, I think we were meant to be
The best of friends we were and are, nothing ever came between
Sharing came easy to us, for our parents to see
To be honest, you were never evil or mad and definitely not mean
As the years went past, taller and taller we grew
You were taller for a while then, but I won as we always knew
Our competitions became more elaborate, you were smart I athletic
Although, I think my writing skills are better but my handwriting still pathetic
Look at our accomplishments now, past President of HICAP and me an ex-Captain
Both black belts and teachers in the makin’
We have shown courage, endurance, tolerance, and loyalty
Which is seen in our friends to whom we never forsaken
I know in the future, with no doubt in my mind
No matter what happens we will be at each others side
We have seen each other struggle and fought through with out rest
For me it was to be like you who always was clearly the best
I never told you who my heros are, especially who they are today
It is you, Mom, and Dad. And Mike Piazza, when the field was called Shea
I have always looked up to you, literally and metaphorically
And I have never want to leave you, or have you go away
In the best way that I can
In the best way like no other
Happy Birthday Meg

Lies About Tall Guys
Just seems like it’s that way to me
Taller guys seem to get executive jobs
Shorter guys work mostly as clerks
Taller guys never seem to be slobs
Shorter guys always seem to be jerks
Taller guys seem to get all of the action
Shorter guys seem to be quite invisible
Taller guys always seem to deserve satisfaction
Shorter guys are lonely and miserable
Just seems like it’s that way to me
Taller guys just seem born to play sports
Shorter guys kinda seem to like tennis
Taller guys certainly look better in shorts
Shorter guys look like Dennis the Menace
Taller guys are usually at the top of their class
Shorter guys seem to fail quite a lot
Taller guys always seem to kick ass
Shorter guys want to, but simply cannot
sure seems like it’s that way to me
Taller guys get better grades and such
Shorter guys seem to barely scrape by
Taller guys seem to do better, pretty much
Shorter guys always wonder why
Taller guys seem to have eyes like a hawk
Shorter guys seem to wear glasses a lot
Taller guys cover more ground when they walk
Shorter guys, to keep up, have to trot
Sure seems like it’s that way to me
Taller guys and their friends look like N.B.A players
Shorter guys look more like cheerleaders
Taller guys seem to look like dragon slayers
Shorter guys look a lot more like bleeders
Taller guys seem to have more gear to protect
Shorter guys wear more protective gear
Taller guys, more confidence seem to project
Shorter guys have less confidence, more fear
Really seems like it’s that way to me
Taller guys appeal to the female gender
Shorter guys always seem to choke
Taller guys carry a lot more legal tender
Shorter guys always seem to be broke
Taller guys seem to drive high dollar cars
Shorter guys drive toyotas
Taller guys seem to reach for the stars
Shorter guys reach for diet sodas
Taller guys are obnoxious, let’s neuter them all
Shorter guys are great people, always a delight
Taller guys are an abomination against mother nature’s law
If you think I’m a short guy….well, you’re right!
Really seems like the way it should be

I Am Fred Astaire
I'm under the assumption
that I'm gonna be the one thats leaving you
tonight, tonight...
Well I flipped every switch
that I could find on my way out just to upset you more
(just to keep you busy) just to make you angry (just because you were right) just because you were...
All tired scream safe haven,
Let's get this out and on the table...
Fast forward to say four o'clock,
I'm keeping time, I'm holdin', we're always holdin',
(we're always holdin), we're always holdin, holding out...
And that's what got us here in the first place,
you should have never come here alone
(you should have never bothered at all), bothered at all...
Scream older and wiser, still filled with resentment
We get it, we get it...Oh (I haven't been happier since)
Older and wiser, still filled with resentment
We get it, we get it...Oh, Bree Ann (I haven't been happier since, I haven't been happier, not since.)
Well five o'clock the floor caught fire with footsteps (my footsteps)
And spread like a disease to the door
(I'm stuttering through it but I hear it) I-I-I hear its good t-t-to stick to what you know
And you know a whole lot of this, it all could have been avoided when
you were courtside for this nightmare,
Well since then I got myself come and listen...
Older and wiser, still filled with resentment
We get it, we get it...Oh (I haven't been happier since)
Older and wiser, still filled with resentment
We get it, we get it...Oh, Bree Ann (I haven't been happier since)
I haven't been happier since (Bree Ann)
I haven't been happier since (Bree Ann)
I haven't been happier since (Bree Ann)
I haven't been happier not since...
Well, it used to take so much more (I used to, I used to too)
It used to take so much more (I used to, I used to too)
I used to, I used to too...

Guidance To A Better Life
Many of us seek out
those older and wiser than ourselves
for the guidance to a better life.
We seek out the old and wiser
learning from the mistakes they made
so as we travel down the same path
we know which pitfalls to look out for
with guidance to a better life.
We can take less wrong turns
and journey forward in the knowledge
we will not make the mistakes they made.
We know life is never easy
so we seek out the guidance
from who have lived it longer than us,
those older and wiser than ourselves
for the guidance to a better life.
Then one day when we are as old as they,
we can pass on our knowledge to those young
who need guidance to a better life.

Life's Sadness Does Not Fade
Life's sadness does not fade-
It grows greater in time-
Older and no wiser
We weep for our earlier days,
And remember all we have lost
And have not been-
So much has happened
And we have achieved so little in it all-
And so much Beauty and Goodness is gone
And so many people we loved.
Life's Sadness does not fade
It grows greater in time-
Older and no wiser,
We play our games with words and thoughts and feelings,
But the Sadness remains and grows.

like you're chasing your soul
because girl,

I Sit Back And Think
I sit back and think
What do young ones really know?
How to be a mother
A friend who really knows
Then you meet a young person
With ideals and their dreams
And suddenly your face
With an adult not a kid
You know not their past
Of teething and games
That’s a life you have with your own
You look past the youthful
Way that they are
And let them be humans
And live life to the full
We use to be young
At one stage of our lives
What makes us different?
Is were older and wiser
So we like to think
So I say with a smile
To young adults of this world
I bow down low and say
Hello my friend
We may be much older
And wiser we think
But at times you surprise us
With love and wisdom
That is beyond all your years
And yes I bow and acknowledge you all
Simply because you’re our future
Leaders of tomorrow
Good luck to you all

Grownup
(carly simon)
I stood in the doorway in my white nightgown
Red roses on cotton, I stood three feet from the ground
The grownups inside used words I didnt know
But still I enjoyed the show
They looked so lovely, they looked so self-assured
And I just like them would know it all when I matured
And I wouldnt be afraid of the darkness or the bears
Or the cracks in the ceiling upstairs
Now Ive just gotten older, Ive just gotten taller
And the little ones, they call me a grownup
Lat night at a friends house a little girl was there
She stood in the doorway playing with her hair
She looked up to me as if I could do no wrong
As I got up to sing my song
I sang it with a shiver in my throat and in my knees
Feeling just as small as a thistle in a breeze
But the childs imagination carried me along
And saw me through my song
Now Ive just gotten older, Ive just gotten taller
And the little ones call me a grownup

Significant Other Numbers
SIGNIFICANT OTHER NUMBERS
Edward Iacona
I’d love to find a companion
Whose heart I’d make go pitter patter.
Until I read what women want
And then some numbers are going to matter.
As I read one online profile
I’m sure that for me she’d fall.
But, then I read that she’s five feet two
And wants a man that’s six feet tall.
To use her as an example
Here is a thought to debate or rebuff.
I am four inches taller than her,
So, why is that not enough?
There must be some adaptability.
There’s no formula or calculation
One needs for vertical compatibility
When involved in joyful copulation.
If I met and liked a lady
I’d not hesitate to call her
Just because the reason was
That she’s just simply taller.
To date a woman taller than me
I can imagine the relief she imbues
Being with one without the need
To balance on high heeled shoes.
Additional significant numbers
That figure onto this page
Are the variable considerations
About the differences in age.
There’s an allure to older with younger
Though others may wonder, squawk and gawk.
The biggest challenge to the couple is
That eventually they’ll have to talk.
Be one younger or one older
There’s really no true reference
Perhaps the only factor is that
It speaks to a mutual preference.
To use an acronym of today
Some might want to find a M.I.L.F.
So in the final equation,
I aspire to become a D.I.L.F.

This Poem Should Have Been Written Long Ago By Someone Else
This poem should have been written long ago by someone else
They should have said what needs to be said
Clearly and yet beautifully
They should have known what to do with their words and their intimations -
But instead I old I tired old I I with the I I I always I’ing
Have to write it again-
This poem should have been written by someone else
The way I was when I was young
But even then probably it should have been written by someone else
Younger happier stronger wiser more courageous able to give and inspire others to love life more and make it more good and more beautiful
A real poet a great poet should have written this poem
And then it would be one
Even I would try not to forget.

New Year resolutions
One year gone,
New year comes.
Old resolutions achieved,
New resolutions planned.
We’re one year older, and
A year wiser.
We’re wiser, older, and
A year gone.
New hope and new vision,
Envision your dream,
Plan your dream,
Dare your dream.
Realize your dream,
Dream your dream,
Vision your dream,
Achieve your dream.
New resolutions here,
Old resolutions gone.
New lives, new you,
New Year, new resolutions.
New Year Arrives,
Happy New You,
Happy New Year,
Happy & Merry Year.

Older than you by a day, wiser than you by a year.
Older but instead of getting wiser, one gets naughtier.
As one grows older, one becomes wiser and more foolish.

Years We Wished Away
Sometimes we’d like to go back,
reclaim the years we wished away.
Reflecting on the fun,
we could have enjoyed
instead of trying to be
older than what we were.
Reclaim the years that were lost
to crazy wishes that we had,
thinking it was better to be
older than what we were.
Instead of enjoying our childhood
and the games, they play.
Now as we grow older
and our youth is what we grasp.
We wish that we were younger
in the cradle of our childhood
and all those precious times
in the years, we wished away.

The ultimate goal is to be more satisfied. I really don't believe you get wiser because you get older. It's a choice, perhaps not to take some things so seriously.
