The Women...
they quarrel over the official color
of their dresses in conventions,
scrutinize every rumor, confrontational
in the most irrelevant and unimportant details,
they talk much over nothing,
change dresses in almost every occasion,
they are given the chance to lead,
backbite, and lose themselves in much
ado's about nothings.
i watch all these chaos
trying to understand, and respond to all their confusions
in the secret silences of my smiles.

Across The Universe
Words are flowing out like endless rain into a paper cup
They slither wildly as they slip away
Across the universe
Pools of sorrow, waves of joy are drifting through my opened mind
Possessing and caressing me
Nothings gonna change my world
Nothings gonna change my world
Nothings gonna change my world
Nothings gonna change my world
Images of broken light which dance before me like a million eyes
They call me on and on
Across the universe
Thoughts meander like the restless wind inside a letter box
They tumble blindly as they make their way
Across the universe
Nothings gonna change my world
Nothings gonna change my world
Nothings gonna change my world
Nothings gonna change my world
Sounds of laughter, shades of life are ringing through my open ears
Inciting and inviting me
Limitless undying love, which shines around me like a million suns
It calls me on and on and on
Across the universe

Shopping For Dresses (feat. Loretta Lynn)
Jimmie Dickens, Merle Haggard, R. Q. Jackson
Down through the ages men have died for women
And done so for many times
Each time I loved one, I ve always lost one
Seems the right one is so hard to find.
Shopping for dresses with no one to wear them
One in each color, one in each style.
I ll find a lady someday to wear them,
My shopping will be done for awhile.
I ll bet somewhere s a lady shopping for britches
Comparing the value, appraising each pair.
Maybe someday the Lord will bring us together
And we ll both have a new wardrobe to wear
Shopping for dresses with no one to wear them
One in each color and one in each style.
Maybe someday if I'm lucky
I ll find someone to wear them
And my shopping will be done for awhile.
My shopping will be done for awhile.
I m looking for a lady who ll look good in dresses
She must be red-headed, green eyes and be fair.
I ll make exceptions to all my requirements
As long as she s willing to care.
Chorus:
I just saw a beauty with blue eyes, what a cutie
Bond hair like a halo around her did flow,
But the brunette beside her would be just as lovely
In the dresses I bought long ago.
Chorus:
Now as I sit here dreaming, planning and scheming,
Why should I make standards when everyone knows
As your need ranges, women make changes
And you must accept them or just let them go.
Chorus:

Sweet Nothings
(r. seit)
Uh-huh honey
All right
My baby whispers in my ear
Mm, sweet nothings
He knows the things I like to hear
Mm, sweet nothings
Things he wouldnt tell nobody else
Secret, baby
I keep it to myself
Sweet nothings
We walk along hand in hand
Mm, sweet nothings
Yeah, we both understand
Mm, sweet nothings
He certainly takes
The time to read my book
My baby, give me that special look
Sweet nothings
Mm, sweet nothings
Uh-huh honey
Im sitting on my front porch
Mm, sweet nothings
Well, do I love you?
Of course
Mm, sweet nothings
Mama turned on
The front porch light
And said
Come in darling
Thats enough for tonight
Sweet nothings
Mm, sweet nothings
Sweet nothings
Mm, sweet nothings
Sweet nothings

Rumor Has It
(bruce burch/vern dant/larry shell)
I overheard a conservation your name was mentioned in
But they didnt talk about us, only her again
I didnt want to listen but I hung on every word
They said some things I wish I hadnt heard
Chorus:
Rumor has it she has you
Rumor has it you love her too
Talk is cheap but the price is high when its true
Rumor has it she has you
This towns so small a whisper can be heard a mile away
And people here will gossip when theres nothing else to say
I wouldnt have believed my ears but I see it in your eyes
The stories going round this town arent lies
Rumor has it she has you
Rumor has it you love her too
Talk is cheap but the price is high when its true
Rumor has it she has you
Whoa...rumor has it she has you

Jane
My daughter Jane makes dresses
For beautiful Princesses;
But though she's plain is Jane,
Of needlework she's vain,
And makes such pretty things
For relatives of Kings.
She reads the picture papers
Where Royalties cut capers,
And often says to me:
'How wealthy they must be,
That nearly every day
A new robe they can pay.'
Says I: 'If your Princesses
Could fabric pretty dresses,
Though from a throne they stem
I would think more of them.
Peeress and shopgirl are
To my mind on a par.'
Says Jane: 'But for their backing
I might be sewing sacking.
Instead, I work with joy
In exquisite employ,
Embroidering rich dresses
For elegant Princesses . . .
Damn social upsetters
Who criticise their betters!'

From the bowery to the brimstone
I tried to find your heart
With drugs of initiation
The bottom of a barrel that drops
I understand your causes
Sympathize the motivation
But all the details of this war
Are just self-infatuation
And its 1 2 3
Nothings for free
4 5 6
Pick up the sticks and go home
Manic blood runs thick my friend
Are you looking for a clean escape
Whats left when the locks have all been broken
Young children of authority
Now how long can you be agile
Dancing between the alter and the mercy seat
Yeah now heres a chance to make a choice
Are you aware of the fire beneath your feet
1 2 3
Nothings for free
4 5 6
Pick up the sticks and go home
The basement lies within us
Our fear comes through the door
Now theres nothing left between us
As the fear becomes a roar
Once that wheel is in motion
Dont you lose what you have found
Im talking about that burning wheel of tongues
Everything that makes it go round and round
Were all born in the devils scorn
They want to see you die
Im asking you are you true
Everything they say is a lie
Its a lie
1 2 3
Nothings for free
4 5 6
Pick up the sticks and go
1 2 3
Nothings for free
4 5 6
Pick up the sticks and go
1 2 3
(were all born)
Nothings for free
(in the devils scorn)
1 2 3
(were all born)
Nothings for free
(in the devils scorn)
Everything they say its a lie
(were all born)
Its a lie now
(in the devils scorn)
Everything they say its a lie
Its a lie now
Pick up the sticks
(pick up the sticks)
Pick up the sticks
(pick up the sticks)
Pick up the sticks
(pick up the sticks)
Pick up the sticks
And go home

The Visitor
A blind middle aged man
sat alone in his new flat
listening to the silence;
he often sat like that.
He sensed someone close
and strained to hear.
“Hello, who’s there?
I know you’re here”
The silence remained unbroken,
but he knew he wasn’t alone.
“I ask again, what do you want;
why are you in my home? ”
He became anxiously fidgety,
“Why don’t you speak,
have you nothing to say,
or do you fear the weak?
You must know I’m blind
and I’m no threat to you,
so why don’t you speak
like normal people do?
Do you have trouble hearing?
Is that why you don’t respond?
Well, I’ll do the talking
and you just tag along.
Because I’m not convinced
that anyone’s really there
I’ll talk as if you are,
so interrupt when you care.
Are you a lonely guy like me
with no friends to talk to,
and do you spend your days
with nothing at all to do? ”
Have you been here long;
I mean here in my room?
I definitely know you’re here,
I hope you’ll speak soon? ”
“I’ve been here for that long
I can’t recall when I came,
but it was so very long ago
and every day’s the same.”
“You sound very sad and lonely,
as though life’s a drag for you.
Isn’t there any chance that life
will get better in a day or two? ”
“I’ve told you every day’s the same
and nothings going to change.
Nobody can do anything for me,
so nothing can be rearranged.”
“Don’t give up hope just yet
I’ll offer a helping hand.
I don’t know exactly how,
so help me to understand? ”
“There’s nothing anyone can do
the living or the dead.
I don’t have a place to live,
or anywhere to lay my head.
There’s no one I can talk with,
you’re the first for many a year
and if you had eyes to see
you certainly wouldn’t be here! ”

Band Concert
Band concert public square Nebraska city. Flowing and circling dresses, summer-white dresses. Faces, flesh tints flung like sprays of cherry blossoms. And gigglers, God knows, gigglers, rivaling the pony whinnies of the Livery Stable Blues.
Cowboy rags and nigger rags. And boys driving sorrel horses hurl a cornfield laughter at the girls in dresses, summer-white dresses. Amid the cornet staccato and the tuba oompa, gigglers, God knows, gigglers daffy with life’s razzle dazzle.
Slow good-night melodies and Home Sweet Home. And the snare drummer bookkeeper in a hardware store nods hello to the daughter of a railroad conductor—a giggler, God knows, a giggler—and the summer-white dresses filter fanwise out of the public square.
The crushed strawberries of ice cream soda places, the night wind in cottonwoods and willows, the lattice shadows of doorsteps and porches, these know more of the story.

Colourful Dresses
Embrace with dresses so fired with colour,
The stick of delight damages with neighing;
Sadly, a trust has emerged for the naturalness
To show and to demonstrate abundance.
Stiff, awkward and unjust is the society
In dresses cold, into the heat of the fires.
May we embrace so dearly the money
At the end of the lane, an avenue has been shown.

A Riddle
Legs I have got, yet seldom do I walk;
I backbite many, yet I never talk:
In secret places most I seek to hide me,
For he who feeds me never can abide me.
A Riddle
Legs I have got, yet seldom do I walk;
I backbite many, yet I never talk:
In secret places most I seek to hide me,
For he who feeds me never can abide me.

Scrutinize
Scrutinize it.
Don't accept anything to force a fit.
Just scrutinize it.
Scrutinize.
Scrutinize it.
Don't accept anything to force a fit.
Just scrutinize it.
Scrutinize.
Open up those eyes.
Scrutinize.
Don't leave to beliefs.
Scrutinize.
To accept and keep.
Scrutinize.
What you can't reach with your two feet.
Open up those eyes.
Scrutinize.
Don't leave to beliefs.
Scrutinize.
To accept and keep.
Scrutinize.
What you can't reach with your two feet.
To examine, rid or receive.
Scrutinize it.
Scrutinize!
Don't accept anything to force a fit.
Just scrutinize it.
Scrutinize!
Scrutinize it.
Let them go to whoop!
Or holler in a group.
You scrutinize.
With open eyes.
Let them go to whoop!
Or holler in a group.
You scrutinize.
With open eyes.
You scrutinize!
Don't accept anything to force a fit.
Just scrutinize it.
Scrutinize.
Scrutinize it.
Don't accept anything to force a fit.
Just scrutinize it.
Scrutinize.
Open up those eyes.
Scrutinize.
Don't leave to beliefs.
Scrutinize.
To accept and keep.
Scrutinize.
What you can not reach,
With your own two feet.
To examine,
Rid...
Or receive.
Don't criticize!

Our Love Will Never Change
The world will change
But it’s happiness won’t change.
The people will change
But their smiles won’t change.
The seasons will change
But their beauty won’t change.
The days will change
But the sun and moon won’t change.
Just like the color of the pretty sky and snow
Our love will never ever change.
Waitresses
At a restaurant there are young girls
playing waitress
and with firm breasts
and long legs
sticking out of
short dresses,
trying to catch
anyone’s eye
They stand and talk together
near to entrances
and bend low over tables,
while they serve orders
in a way that men can see
their womanly curves better.
I wonder where
all their young girl innocence went,
while one stand at my table
with big eyes
and smiles as if
the sun sparkles in her teeth
and she looks shameless
inviting at me

Romeos? I Hear They Died In The 50's
Romeo, Romeo, where for art thee Romeos?
I hear they all died after 1950
Oh yes Romance is very much so dead
Died along with Romeo in fact
A lovely run it did have, shame to see it go
Emptiness is victorious when we fail to act
But then what about the Juliette’s
Where’d the pretty dresses and smiles go?
Exchanged for an attitude and a punch
Wrapped, alas, without even a bow
So let us all watch the television shows
And see all the emotions we cannot show
Reminisce about a time
We f*cked up so very long ago

Thanks For Nothing
Ill never take part in the grown population
Or waste my time with further education (hooha!)
To get what we know, is just a big show
Where they want to control
So chained and frustrated
Its all so complicated
Fashion, no passion surrounds me
All I know is Ive heard this all before
Realitys a bore (is a bore)
You ask me to believe it (never believe)
Something they provide
Cant bring myself to, to what
You want me to (want me to)
This is who we are and (who we are)
Nothings gonna change, nothings gonna change
I cant take part in the business revolution
Or take my chance in the real world confusion
Dont blame us, who do we trust when theyre so dis-a-honest
No patience, this nations obsessed with exploitation
Lying, denying surrounds me
All I know is Ive heard this all before
Realitys a bore (is a bore)
You ask me to believe it (never believe)
Something they provide
Cant bring myself to, to what
You want me to (want me to)
This is who we are and (who we are)
Nothings gonna change
(what!) dont think you can ignore us (ignore us)
Dont tell me your word is right (word is right)
Dont pick a future for us (for us)
We lack cause were involved!!
All I know is Ive heard this all before
Realitys a bore (is a bore)
You ask me to believe it (never believe)
Something they provide
Cant bring myself to, to what
You want me to (want me to)
This is who we are and (who we are)
Nothings gonna change
Thanks for nothing (Ive heard this all before),
Thanks for nothing (realitys a bore),
Thanks for nothing (itll never be the same),
Thanks for nothing (and nothings gonna change)

Last Chance Lost
Last chance lost--
In the tyranny of a long good-bye
Last chance lost--
We talk of us with deadly earnest eyes
Last chance lost--
We talk of love in terms of sacrifice and compromise
Last chance--
Last chance lost
Last chance lost--
The hero cannot make the change
Last chance lost--
The shrew will not be tamed
Last chance lost--
They bicker on the rifle range
Blame takes aim
Last chance--
Last chance lost
