Some Changes That We Need

we need to fill the cracks on the walls
some trickles of light may hurt
on the roof the rain as always will be bad
for the floor
some leaks must be sealed
the stones on the pavement choked
by the grass that has been crawling
for all the years
i have to pick up so my foot may not
be hurt
and then some goodbyes maybe said
even without the hellos yet
we settle, that is a good word,
we move on, i think that is much better

i am closing a door and so i am opening
a window like what you are doing
i am taking sleep only to be taken by a dream
i am flying only to stop for a while
tomorrow is a new day, as always, i am not closing
my eyes for another view of the sea

there will be new seagulls coming but i have
stopped counting each of them since then
as always they shall feast on my schools of fish
and i do not really mind at all.

Shatterproof

I see those newly weds
Their eyes wide and believing
They bill and coo at the mention of chez nous
Appearances can be deceiving
Its just a door and a window
Four walls and a roof
But a home of your own would be shatterproof
A door and a window
Four walls and a roof
But a home of your own would be shatterproof
We papered over all the cracks
And painted a cats lick and a promise
The landlord was a man of few words
And most of them were ominous
Its just a door and a window
Four walls and a roof
But a home of your own would be shatterproof
A door and a window
Four walls and a roof
But a home of your own would be shatterproof
It was nothing really to write home about
Then one day it all appears too much
Here comes my little hammer and its shatterproof touch
He said, be practical,
These are most unreasonable demands.
Forget about the broken spectacles
And the damage to your hand.
Its just a door and a window
Four walls and a roof
And the doctors say Im almost shatterproof

Why Don't You Come Over

VERSE 1
Don't you worry, pretty baby
Everything's alright
Its another day tomorrow
and another night.
You can tell me how your feeling
every single word
I was having trouble sleeping
like the early bird
who just want's to be heard
CHORUS
Why don't you come over
I can't stop thinking of you
Why don't you come over
My heart wont rest "till you do
pick up the phone
your clothes from the floor
the sleep in your eyes
and walk through the door
I'll turn on the light
Why don't you come over
why don't you come over
why don't you come over tonight
VERSE 2
We can sit down at the table
let your problems drown
I know how to get you smiling
how to be your clown
there's no need to think about it
Just come as you are
I'll be waiting by the window
for my shining star
you know it's not that far
CHORUS
Pick up the phone
your clothes from the floor
the sleep in your eyes
and walk through the door.
I'll turn out the light
Why don't you come over
why don't you come over
why don't you come over tonight.

the sounds of Sunday

i hear the sound of the cold wind from the sea
i hear the waking call of the roosters
the scratching feet of the dog on some disturbing flea

and i hear her steps towards the door as she opens it
she goes to church
and i hear her gently closing the door and the gate too
closing in on me

i am alone now with all the other sounds of the house
this sound of the growing silence
some voices
rushing to fill my mind
some poems
for the day

it is this silence that feeds me
the trickles of my soul

The closing of a door can bring blessed privacy and comfort - the opening, terror. Conversely, the closing of a door can be a sad and final thing - the opening a wonderfully joyous moment.

My Ring

Does my ring hurt your finger
when you go out at night?
Does my love cease to be
when I am not in sight?
Does our vows to one another
mean anything anymore,
is tonight the last time you leave
at the closing of the door.

I have tried my best to please you,
giving you everything you want.
I have showered you with love,
all I have to give.
Now my heart breaks each time
I hear the closing of the door
and see my ring in the side
when you go out at night.

What has happen to us,
where did our love go?
Does my ring hurt that much
you leave it at house
whenever outside you go?
Does it mean I am losing you
after all the good times we have had?
Does it mean our love has gone bad?

The Current

These fish have no eyes
these silver fish that come to me in dreams,
scattering their roe and milt
in the pockets of my brain.

But there's one that comes-
heavy, scarred, silent like the rest,
that simply holds against the current,

closing its dark mouth against
the current, closing and opening
as it holds to the current.

Don't Hurt Yourself

(HogarthKellyMosleyRotheryTrewavas)
There'll come a time when all of this is over
Something else will grow and take it's place
The brand new car:scrap metal in a junkyard
The children playing will grow up and leave home
Put it away this dream you can't stop dreaming
Put it away this anger and desire
The open road is infinitely hopeful
Take all those memories and throw them in the fire
And don't hurt yourself
Don't hurt yourself
Don't hurt yourself anymore
There's old man on a warm and sunny island
No job, no money, just a smile to call his own
Know what he says?. "The past will only haunt you.
Live for today. Each day's an open door
Don't hurt yourself
Don't hurt yourself
Don't hurt yourself anymore"
Nothing to lose is nothing to fight over
The shining stars!
They've seen it all before.
Don't hurt yourself
Don't hurt yourself
Don't hurt yourself anymore
Dust keeps coming. Rust keeps coming. Weeds keep growing. Seeds keep growing
Where you going?

A Memorial to Lost Love

Closing doors to a former love
Like graveyard soil thrown down a coffin
Will then be sealed by the rain above
To silence all passion felt therein.

Farewells like flowers lace the grave
Will soon dry up, wither, and die
Tears that flowed can never be saved
For the former love, in sleep there lie.

Closing doors leaves a permanence
Love's epitaph of finality
Snuffing out all remaining essence
To face the inevitable, Reality.

Goodbyes are distant words unsaid
Only the speech of grieving hearts
Bury the love that is now dead
Its cooling embers too soon depart.

Never Should Have Trusted Him

watching from my window looking through the rain
i see him hitting and beating her. i really want to do something but i know i cant
i try blocking my ears and closing my eyes it hurts to much to here her and watch her be in pain
if he keeps this up i know she wont be here long
i hated i ever trusted him! everything i ever did wasted and gone!
i look at him, screaming and crying yelling over and over i hate you dad!
i wipe a tear from my eye i hate it that he’s doing this to mom! its really hurts inside, and makes me really mad!
mommy never did anything to you i scream
i cant take anymore so i curl into the back of the room, closing my eyes wishing this will be nothing but a dream
as i rock back and forth i think over and over what mommy could of done to make daddy this way
i scream as loud as possible i hate this day
then i look out the window and I'm so shocked to see daddy with that gun
its not a toy one me and him use to play with and have fun
he’s pointing it at mommy she doesn’t know what to do i look at her and can tell she has no clue
i think to my self yelling over and over what can i do
i get an idea and run into the rain
mommy’s always telling me to be a man not a boy so i stand there ready to take this pain
i see him getting ready to shoot and run in front of her i fall to the ground as the bullet goes in me
there both shocked not knowing what to do he cant believe he really did this i here him over my screams say” how could this be'
i look up at them taking my last few breaths of life
i lie to them so they wont be afraid 'don’t worry mom its not that bad just feels like a prick from a knife'
she cries down at me
i look up at dad and ask him t please let me and mom be
he walks away and i look up at my mom
'mom i lover you your the best, your the bomb'
i couldn’t let him do that to you
you really should of knew
that i wouldn’t let him hurt you
me and her share one last hug i whisper to her right before i die
don’t worry mom don’t cry well be together again some day everything will be fine

Back From A Morning Walk

i

it is earlier today.
4: 04 in the morning
on a walk
towards the college
oval beside
a gym
(i counted the steps
14 in all
from the basement

some finches
hang on the
cracks of
its cement walls)

ii

i made six rounds
walking
abreast steadily
mindless
about my surroundings
wilted
grass on the side
of the pavement

when the clouds turned
gray and
the atmosphere
dimmed
like a night study lamp
in my room
when i was too
sleepy
to notice the hours

then the rain began
to fall
and i ran as fast
as i could
to take shelter
under a
cemented roof
the gym as i told
you beforehand

iii

then there was this
old man
with a long white beard
wearing
sporty pants
and nike shoes
and seated on one
of the stairs
looking far
waiting for the rain
to stop

iv

i was behind him
a few steps away
and we were not talking
because the rain
was already falling
so hard
that i could no longer
hear the sounds of the
birds grouping
themselves
on the cracks of the
walls

v

i never felt lonelier
than ever before

Put It Off Until Tomorrow (feat. Dolly Parton)

[ Dolly Parton & Kris Kristofferson ]
Put it off until tomorrow oh oh you've hurt me enough today
You've hurt me enough today
You say our love is over that you have found another
You say you're going away
But leave me tomorrow oh oh you've hurt me enough today
You've hurt me enough today I can't believe the words you say
I must accept the fact you won't be coming back
So please stay just one more day loneliness isn't far away
Put it off until tomorrow oh oh you've hurt me enough today
Put it off until tomorrow oh oh you've hurt me enough today

Sleeping Time

when their eyes
become sleepy like
falling leaves
of the evening wind
like windows
closing
like lights being turned
off from
a distance
i become a bag egg
refusing to crack
as others wait
what is inside the
shell
i sort of close my door
and continue
what i do and
never stop doing it.
you know what i mean
as you are
following what i am
doing now.
i am not alone in
this
for you are here with
me
doing the thing
that you cannot stop
doing.
i know what you mean
and i know
what you are up
to
what you are at
what you want to do
till darkness cracks
to a morning
slit of light.
you know me now
for i do
what you do
too.

Nicklin’s Torment

I woke up in a cold sweat
and turned on the light.
A shadow was moving over me,
cast by a spider of the night.

By the time I’d blinked
it’d vanished from view,
but then I saw a larger one,
followed by another two.

I closed my eyes for a moment
hoping they would disappear.
When I slowly reopened them
the bedroom was spider clear.

With my hand I mopped my brow
and then saw several more,
they were crawling on the ceiling
and marching across the floor.

I told myself that I was dreaming
or suffering from withdrawal,
but that didn’t stop the spiders
from crawling up the wall.

Sweat dripping from my brow
was stinging in my eyes.
Spiders were now on my bed
at my feet and on my thighs.

The whole room was full of spiders,
on the ceiling, walls, and floor.
My bed was covered and so was I.
I screamed stop! But out came even more.

Spiders crawling on top of spiders,
in my mouth, nose and ears,
their scary eyes staring into mine,
I was choking with utter fear.

I tried in vain to fight them off,
but my hand didn’t move a one.
I must have blacked out just then,
when I awoke they had all gone.

Things are becoming better now
and the spiders are getting less.
I’m told they’ll eventually go for good,
along with my shakes, thirst, and mess.

Tears

Tears in my eyes, tears in my eyes
Feeling like theres nothing left to say
Maybe I should wait for another day
One more day
Tried to find myself, but now youre gone
I had to find the strength to carry on
Carry on
Tears in my eyes
How they fall like rain to the floor
Where do you go when the summers gone?
Walking away is the same as closing the door
Can you look at the sky when the sun dont shine?
Look in my eyes
You can see my dreams on the floor
Where do I go now the summer is gone?
Run through the field like a child whos closing the door
Youre feeling the wind now the sun dont shine
Losing you would always be my fear
Never knowing if youd still be here
Still be here
Remembering the words you said to me
Saying that you had to set me free
Set me free
Ghosts of love will come
Now the light is gone
Haunting my soul
Never letting go
Through my broken dreams
Hear you calling me
Lonely like the wind
Echoes back again
Feeling like theres nothing left to say...

Endless walk part 2

while my body continues to move forward
the rain gets harder and the wind stronger
my thoughts are tormenting me i try to stay focused
ahead of me i see a dark light i'm terrified
because i know who is holding the light
i try to fight my body that keeps moving forward
why won't it listen to me, why won't it stop walking
i look around and see what's seems to be a door
it's open i reach for it will all my might but my arms don't move
while i'm slowly passing the door i break inside
i stop to fight my body that already not seems to be mine
i hear the door closing and prepare myself
for when i reach the one holding the dark light

I Think Ill Say Goodbye

(jim rushing/marshall chapman)
I never tried to change you
But the hurt is changing me
I only wanna be myself
And you wont let that be
I cant play an actors role
cause I cant live a lie
Lifes too short and nights too long
To let them pass us by
So Ill be closing the door in the morning
And I wont wake you when I rise
cause theres nothing to say before going
You think that I said it all
So I think Ill say goodbye
Believin came so easy when our love was flowin free
But theres a wall of darkness where sunshine used to be
One more wrong tomorrow
Is one more wasted day
And holdin on to love thats gone
Well never find our way
So Ill be closing the door in the morning
And I wont wake you when I rise
cause theres nothing to say before going
You think that I said it all
So I think Ill say goodbye

At The Second Floor

at the second floor of the old house
he goes up
taking the creaking stairs
as though telling him some old stories
about the falling of the
clan house to ashes for years
no one dared say
about the fall of this family
there are whispers
not louder as a thud of a cat's foot
limping on the carpet

up there is the open space overlooking the blue sea
a white sail and some foams of the sea caps
catch his attention but he can not withstand such a distant view
his eyes are hurt by too much light and tiny object

he looks at the nearby tree
old mahogany spreading its branches touching the roof

there is this single leaf that falls
a hush of the wind

twirling to the shaded space
it lands on the pebbles

nothing is heard but he has seen it all
the fall.

When the rain stopped

it was when the rain stopped
that you left me: i own the umbrella
that you do not need now. You return
it. It was when the rain stopped
that you forget my name. My name
is need. And what you need is love.
My name is necessity. But what
you need is the luxury of honesty.

it was when the rain stopped that
you were honest enough to say:
i do not need you. I do not love you.

and then it rains so hard again
and you come knocking on my
door. You are wet. You are cold.
You are shivering. You are
trembling.

I look at you inside my house
looking by the window. I hide
behind the blue curtain. And i
tell myself: I do not believe you
anymore. And i ask myself:

How can i believe you again?

And then the rain stops.
And then you are gone.

And then i open the window.
And then i see the white dove flying
and hovering near a tree beside my window.

And then i set my heart free.

Another Try

Hey, daddy just lost his pay
What did he do it for
It never made it through our door
He drank the whole week away
And what can a family say
There must be a better way
Now mama dont start to cry
Lets give him another try
Pick up the telephone
Tell him you want him home
To sit and watch the evenings pass
And readin the leaves of grass
Im caught in a closing door
Its pinning me to the floor
Now mama dont start to cry
Lets give him another try
Im caught in a closing door
Its pinning me to the floor
Now mama dont start to cry
Lets give him another try
When were old and gray
And the things we say are the things we really mean
So why cause a scene
When things aint what they seem
cause the end results the same
Now what can a family say
There must be a better way
Now mama dont start to cry
Lets give him another try

Closing In (Rosetta Stone Mix)

I can't see ever feeling right again
I'm on a raft in a river that's roaring away with me
What good does it do me to have what I want
When I'm in no shape to enjoy what I have
Boiling
I'm burning
I'm losing my hold
On the life that I had
Running
I'm hiding
I'm telling myself
That these things aren't so bad
I can see there's just no way out of this (one)
I can feel the walls closing in on me
The door at the end of the tunnel is far too small
And there's 24 metric tons of fear closing in on me
