Words fall short
To express a sense of loss.
It can only be felt
In the emptiness it left.
In the longing of your heart,
In some chamber of your soul,
For a dear one gone
In a flash, we are forever apart.
In the silent tears
That flow down your cheeks,
Soaking the pillow case
As you lie curled up in bed.
In the half smile
That never reaches your eyes,
The void that fills you
And makes you wonder why are you alive.
With time the ache becomes dull,
And from time to time
You find yourself awake
Tossing, turning going down
The memory lane,
Some sweet some full of pain.
You are never whole,
As long as there is a longing
In your soul.
In time you realise
You have to let go,
And make peace
And deal with grief.
Finally when it does,
You grow wise
Compassionate and loving,
And gain a new insight

The first time I saw you
I felt weak inside
I search my heart and mind
For words I couldn't find.

What came over me that night
As a love began to grow

Soul Searching
I wish I had it in me to give you everything you need.
But the last girl sucked it all out, and now I'm risking making your heart bleed.
It seems like this evil deed keeps going round and round in circles, leveling everyone in the way.
I sleep most nights, but I spend the time thinking of how I use to be back in the day.
When nothing really mattered, and I didn't have very many cares.
Somewhere I lost myself and one by one they left me in tears.
I live for the day when I can make her smile for the last time, then my work would be done.
In my hands I hold her heart, guarding it prudently, because it's a prize rarely won.
A human heart rarely won because it is almost never given.
Souls skimming the sand, longing to dive into the cold waters being called to the peace where we all belong.
Follow me as we try to change the world, and try to only sing love songs.
Cupid's love arrows feel so good as they finally pierce and go inside.
But god forbid you ever have to pull it out, because you will bleed out.
Now, let's slow the pace down, take a moment to see the entire world's frown.
I walk slowly through this old, hidden, and abandoned town.
How did it ever make it into a city? This city is so small, yet somehow your hiding from me.

Tears of the Greatest
oh! tears, holy are you who comes to my emptiness, of
where ever I go, you have been the mirror of what I am
true today who brings me tomorrow, and always in my
midst and night stay in my bedside play, until the last
minute of my last day, says a goodbye
you swift my deep slumber, hugging what I feel and
express in your honest tears, where the inner passion

Sisters
She left me and my world just died.
She left me and all the tears I cried
could never bring her back to me.
And so inside I felt empty.
Time has passed but my memory's clear
and at times it's almost like she's still here.
Gone into the ethers mid angels like she,
gone, yet not gone, for she's still with me.
The separation scene, still hard to accept
is the necessary void that has always kept
the distance I feel while my life goes on
and the ache that comes when my day is done.
I will see you again when my time runs out.
Togetherness will return.. We'll not be without
the joy that we felt for we'll feel it again.

TEARS
Tears are the raindrops of the soul
And there's one for all who die.
They are the silent words of grief
As they fall free from the eye.
The shortest verse in the Bible
Is the one where Jesus wept
So, if you hold back tears, shed them
When your pain is too harsh to accept.
Tears are lovelier than a smile
When they come from those you love
As they seek relief from sadness
When you're summoned from above.

My heart: you promised me in the last days that you are leaving me
My grief: I loved your spirit; I found my settlement and safe in it and I

Beyond the grief.
It seems as if we are stalled by our grief,
unable to move away from it – and I wonder
if we will ever get over the loss of you. In time
they say we will, that one day we will finally be free
of the sadness that burdens our hearts, and we will dance
in our remembrance, and there will be no more tears.
But if that's true, I must admit I will miss the tears
when there is an eventual easing of the grief.
I am not as eager to begin the dance
of life without you, for the world has lost its wonder
for me, some of its shine - and being free
seems awfully relative - I suppose just like time.
I can still so clearly recall the last time
we were all together - the tears
we shared, even laughter, when you were set free
of this earthly pain - and even in our grief,
we were filled with such wonder
as we witnessed the end of life's dance.
When I was a little boy you used to let me dance
on the top of your shoes, moving in time
to the music on the radio. Is it any wonder
that music, to this day, brings tears
of joy, mingled with the ever-present grief,
which still has not set me completely free.
I now realize there is a cost to love; it's not free -
for when you love, you buy a ticket to the dance
of life - which comes with joy and pain, celebration and grief.
And if you have lived a long enough time,
as I have, even when the loss brings never ending tears,
with a broken heart, it's worth all of the pain, and it's no wonder
people love so fiercely - so much so that they cease to wonder
about the why, when or where - and now I realize that I am free
to love, and to lose, which will bring with it many tears.
But each tear is worth it - and seems to make the dance
more authentic. In the end, I will measure my time
by how much of it was filled with love, and with grief.
No longer will I wonder whether or not I should dance,
I will just be free, stepping in and out of time,
wearing my tears like a badge of honor as I move beyond the grief.

To say sorry seems such an easy thing to say

My body tingles as I lay there still feeling your body wrapped around mine
I close my eyes and notice that there is nothing I can do but dream
For you have left me here with nothing but a memory
A memory of what we had what we were

Incense sticks, a match box;
And an earthen diya with wick
In a bowl made of dry leaves
Held together by twigs;
I stood at the banks
Of mother Ganges in Haridwar,
After paying change
To the young boy
Who put it together for me
At that morning hour.
I lit the wick and incense stick,
And holding it in both hands
Walked towards the river bank
And put it in the lap
Of the river, watching it
Join other such offerings,
Made by devotees and kin
Of loved ones gone
A long time or just
The night before.
It was a trip
Long overdue,
To say final goodbye
To my ma and dad,
For I was not with them
When they breathed their last
For reasons beyond me,
Of which they had no clue.
I felt sad,
And missed them bad.
One day feeling desolate
I shared my grief,
Loss and longing
With a dear friend.
Ever compassionate,
She held my hand
And said, let go
As the soul feels in earthly bondage,

Dear as desire, are dearly bought:
The sweet unrest of seeing you
For some too-happy hour or two,
Is paid by such a wealth of tears,
Such grief, such bitterness, such fears,
Such wild remorse, such weak regret,
Such tide of longing towards you set,
As poison all my other hours,
And murder every other thought.
I cannot drink joy steeped in fears,
I choose the cold unhurtful days;
The roses you hold out to me
Are red and sweet enough to be
A crown one would so gladly wear
If but one's brows were strong to bear
The weight, and did not ache and ache
For the fair coronation's sake,
And dread of coming crownless years
When tired feet shall tread thorny ways.
There is a peace in sombre skies
Where no sun even tries to shine,
But not in these where transient glow,
And passionate bursts of sunshine show
Only life's dull fields drenched with rain,
And then the clouds set fast again
Into a leaden sky like this is,
Lit by no lightnings of warm kisses,
Whence, while I look into your eyes,
A thunderbolt may fall on mine.
I give you back the rose I stole,
Pluck but pale leaves that near me grow.
I cannot love with half a heart,
'Tis all or nothing for my part;
And since the all may not be ours,
Since we may only pluck Love's flowers,
But may not in his temple stay,
I choose the grey and lonely way--
And you--be thankful from your soul
That, loving you, I let you go.

Shelia Loves Deeply
I want you to tell me that you need me-
is that so hard?
I want you to see me and not turn away.
I carve sometimes even a gentle glance
or better
a soft touch and softer voice saying
'are you ok? '
Rejection cuts like a dull knife
and kindness is a hurtful stranger
when not freely given and often
even if a substitute
for love
abandoned
Seeing you retreat inward
crushes my soul
and make me feel weak-
to weak to make it stop-
too weak to reach out-
and draw you out-
to weak to even cry sometimes.
No greater pain
than the pain of feeling unloved;
no greater din
than the din of silence.
No arm shorter than
the one which one
which wants to reach out
but is always too short from the lover in retreat
no hand ghostlier than the one which reaches out just after you have turned away.
So sex even is spiritless
yet it is better than
the cigarettes and beer
haze in which I sometimes find you
at three am TV snowing.
Worse, for any woman
or any man
beyond even all this
is the unmistakable sense
that you long for that something else
foraging with your eyes
to some stranger passer-by;
and I cannot re-direct
those longing looks
back my way
intoning in my soul;
'Don't you see
I am the one who loves you.'
We are the ghost ship
drifting upon the dead sea
and yet
curse me for the time being-
I'd rather drift in this maelstrom
with you
than anyone else;
so deep is my love.
