Email Someone

You wonder
What will happen
If you email someone.

Maybe nothing!
And then you may feel
Terrible.

Email someone
Just once
And you may get nothing.
But if you keep doing it
In a safe and sensible manner?

Why that is the way
One of the highways
Out of loneliness!

Dont Say It To My Face

Remedy? See it, Read It And Delete

Why send a message,
With an expectation to receive a response.
If your 'email' box is full and blocked.
And when you confront people,
You ask of them...
Why has their communication stopped.

Why bother to have email at all?
If this instant way of keeping in touch,
Is quicker than making a telephone call.

Or if someone says,
'I answered your message...
Why haven't you responded? '
And that person says...
~Time has prevented me to do it.~
And this is the same person heard to say...
~No one ever tells me what's going on.
And if they did...
I haven't reviewed my email for weeks.~

Remedy?
See it, read it and delete!

For example, I was discussing the use of email and how impersonal it can be, how people will now email someone across the room rather than go and talk to them. But I don't think this is laziness, I think it is a conscious decision people are making to save time.

Your letter is beautiful

Your letter is beautiful
and tells about things deep in your heart
but what lies between the lines
are unnamed things
that you are saying anyway.

To eagerly I want you
here with me
and it’s as if you
cannot untie time
to make yesterday
today again.

Sometimes you email
and at times I email you
and life takes its course
and like somebody raving
I feel caught in it all

as if there’s always a goodbye
between you and I
and the letter
ends much too quickly.

Keeping email alive in touch

Keeping email alive in touch

A day gone by without your mail
I seem to be a year for me
Today I read your mail
Is full with gladness and happiness
Family and friends
Getting in touch
From around the world
I dream of the day, when we meet
Or again
In real from around the world
I will tell you, how much I love you
My family and your Friendship
When we do we spend all day long
Talking of this
Miracle email alive
Only we can make this happen
Because we been waiting for this moment
For a long time
I been waiting to meet you all
Or again
I miss you all
And to be my true friends
That you donâ? ? t know yet
When we meet each other
You agree my family and friends
When I read your mail
From the most beautiful family and friends
I have with you all
It is so pleasant to understand
I want you to know
You are the most loving
Family and friends
I want to feel your peasant
Completely our friendship
I truly love to have family and friends
Like you all
To all my beloved family and friends
Are important to me
Life in touch will never stop
Whatever weather
Keeping email alive in touch
The more successful is filled with common sense

I Got An Email Today

I got an email today
It said an old friend of mine
Had died today

God had drawn the line
And his weary body
Was finally ready to cross

His family is at a loss
But just maybe
His spirit is ageless

I got an email today
It made me think of tomorrow
And to reflect back at the time borrowed

What would you do
If the doc told you
Your time has grown short

Get your life in order
And say your goodbye's
To your husband or wife

Say your goodbye's
To your kids
When they were your life

I got an email today
It told me life is too short
Too short to sit back to waste

Love Letter Not Posted

Love Letter Not Posted.

I got a sweet email, yes romantic as well,
something about holding hands
and things that tend to follow a passionate kiss.
She had read my poems and thought I was
a darling! I thought of sending her a love poem
but desisted as my poems tend to be cynical;
beside there is a question of grooming.
Dear heart, thank you for the email, I shall not
answer you, but quietly dream of what could
could have been if I had been seventeen, and
not a grumpy old man who wears a winter coat
for comfort even in June.

What Will You Do With The Ball My Friend

What Will You Do With The Ball My Friend

I don’t know how you did it
But you drew me out of my shell
You made me let the world know
My name and who I really am
And now that the cat is out of the bag
I just thought that I should let you know
That if you continue to hide behind other names
As I have done in the past
You will surely drive me away
I thought that you might email me a few poems
You had hundreds to choose from
But you didn’t email me a single one
No big deal
So I guess that there is not much more that I can do
This has turned into a dire situation
I guess that you can say that it is now do or die
If you do not start posting poems under your true name
I personally feel and believe that I will turn around
And walk away
No more of your haunting me in the nite
No more of my posting poems for you
etc. etc. etc.
The ball is in your court and the clock is ticking
What will you do with the ball my friend

Do I Really Like Being Lonely?

here you are, a vortex,
and i am a point just below the line that runs
like a bridge
trying to connect us both
as though
we are one kind of a
connection: a telegraphic wire
a letter between two lonely people
or a chat
an email that has not been read for five days,
here you are, saying lots of irreconcilable
concepts: loneliness is a friend
a company
and loneliness actually is likable
like it is sort of a friend
who keeps me company

you are telling me that
loneliness is happiness:

are you sure? try going alone in a faraway island
and strolling along its beach
where a typhoon is raging

no seagull, the waves gigantic
the shore all crumpled
the sands all noisy

the abandon, is this something that is
a happy moment?

tell me, remember, the moment
once, when your heart was broken
and you are so lost
you cannot even pick a piece.

loneliness is loneliness.
i am running away from it.
it is a void. i am avoiding it.
but here she comes.

and i am telling her,
i am incurable.

Money and Friends

When I was a teen my mom would say
“If you know someone you dislike
Loan that bright person some money
And he’d sure disappear from site”

“People that owes you money
Would not call or email to say hello
Would not send a card on a holiday
They’d rather wish you’d go away”

“Friends that asked you for a loan
And you happened to be broke
Would not call or email to say hello
Would not send a card on a holiday”

My smart mommy is always right
I think I’d rather keep happy friends
Ones that don’t need my money and
Ones I like to call and love their emails

Quiz Poem #3: World City

The 'triumphant one' in a sea of sand,
founded by caliphs of old, and
once the prize of the 'emperor' from France.
Hanging Church and the Virgin's tree, to enhance?

Okay, did you get the city's name? There are five poems that form a 'quiz poem: world city' in which you have to guess the capital city from anywhere in the world! Easy huh? Once you've got the city's name (or even if you have all five) just email me. It's for fun!

Do email answers rather than put them here as a comment, as that'll spoil it for others. So far the response has been good. Let me know if you like the idea - even if you haven't got the answer or don't want to take part.

Queen Victoria eyes Caesar's,

Quiz Poem #4: World City

The city bears the name of a goddess with an owl near,
And she assisted Jason, Heracles and others of old.
She's sometimes seen with helmet, shield or spear,
This matronly, patronly, petrified leader is quite bold.

Insomnia (Life Poem)

Darkness envelopes me like a thin grey blanket
Listen to sleeping body snores warm beside me
Imaginary ghosts emerge out of the shadows
Tomorrow’s plans become tonight’s mental list.

Twist and turn, heart beats fast, should sleep
Can’t sleep, get up, drink tea, read email, yawn
Email replies at three clears the decks, wide awake
Online yesterday’s Irish Times becomes today’s.

Skype “Hi” to friends on PST and office in Asia
In bed, read Robinson Crusoe, always meant to
Watch watch, almost five, two hours to breakfast
Sleep heavy eyes, day bright,7am news, yawn.

The Declining Art Of Communication

We all seem to be living our lives
At an ever increasing pace.
We are finding less and less time
To meet up with people face to face.

You often read stories in the press,
About people being fired or dumped by text.
The way in which we communicate has changed so much,
That you do find yourself wondering 'Whatever next? '

There are some things, which by text or email,
You just really shouldn't say:
Like, if you're telling someone that they're no longer wanted,
Or that someone they know has just passed away.

You can check your email at your leisure,
Unlike if someone contacts you by phone,
But like they say, it's good to talk,
So you really shouldn't moan.

I love receiving letters on fancy paper from my friends,
And hear them dropping through my letterbox,
But the whole idea of 'snail' as opposed to email,
Is a concept which, nowadays, is often mocked.

If you're talking face to face,
You're less likely to get the wrong impression.
You can connect more to people's thoughts and feelings,
If you are able to read their facial expressions.

Tackling a sensitive subject with someone,
Often has us trembling with fear,
But is it really better for it to be discussed
Electronically, rather than ear to ear?

Sometimes, you can spend hours together,
During which time, very little of importance is said.
Then, later, you log on to your computer,
And discover all the gossip is on there instead!

If you put all of your news on Facebook,
You may find your face to face conversation is suddenly dead.
When you next meet up with someone and mention your news,
They will turn to you, and say 'Yeah, you said'!

The world of communication has come on in leaps and bounds,
But, in some ways, it has advanced too much.
Communication can now be so impersonal,
That we seem to have lost the human touch.
