Case Closed

When you read me,
You are not going to leave me.
I am not doing this for myself.
Self impressive?
I am motivated, yes!
But not to that degree...
I have to constantly address,
My own self impressiveness!
That kind of vanity has not been introduced
To my ego!
Don't need it. It can go!
And my ego and I can be at odds...
As to how it should be displayed!
So I carry resumés.
Trying to avoid a dissertation of a thesis being read.
'That' was just my ego speaking!
Sometimes it gets 'lofty' and out of my head.

But I do wish to produce something that seduces,
Your imagination.
Something that elevates understanding...
With a comprehension attached to match!
I don't have a problem observing various races together in peace.
That is why I take the direct route and not the scenic approach...
Whenever I write or speak!
People want to pretend these things do not exist
From a self centered selfishness!
Creating the rascist divisions and splits with conficts!
And...
An exaggeration of self worth observed with it!

They are all over the place in my environment.
With asses on shoulders and noses in the air!
I am glad many things I have seen from my birth!
And my parents didn't allow my sisters and I to get too grand!
We know what we have and 'who' put it there.
It wasn't laid in our hands...
That's for sure.
We WORKED!
And HARD...
To produce what we do to get it done!
I'm the eldest AND the only son...
So the challenges I created,
Came with cliffhangers!

So...
When you read me,
You are not going to leave me.
I am not doing this for myself.
I've already done that!
Now it is ready to share with you!
And I want you addicted!
Case closed!
'That' was just my ego speaking!
Normally I am more tactful!

When I Write

When I write,
I do my best...
To incite an insight!
Some may not like.
But I seek a comprehension.
Not to revisit...
A safety zone,
Already known.
Or one that has been mentioned.

And when I write,
I choose to test...
A curiosity,
Within me...
That does not sit and rest.

I want to produce seeds of understanding.
And in the doing...
Even I am not thoroughly delighted,
By what I have to admit...
Is a bunch of 'horseshhhiftivities'
From that which I have sown.
When I write!

'Horseshiftivities is not a word! '

I've entitled this poem 'When-I-Write'
Not 'Give-me-Your-Unsolicited-Opinion'.

'Did you or did you 'not' ask me to read it? '

AND not a thing more did I ask!
Did I?

'Correct.'

But you must admit,
That 'horseshifting' business drew you in,
Right?

'No,
Not really.
I knew if I didn't read it...
You wouldn't allow me to leave.
Then I would have to deal with much more,
Than just this 'horseshift' on your shoulders! '

I think most people read and re-read the things that they have liked. That's certainly true in my case. I re-read Pound a great deal, I re-read Williams, I re-read Thomas, I re-read the people whom I cam to love when I was at what you might call a formative stage.

Inventive Thinking And Creative Ways

How can something so vital,
And necessary to the growth...
Of the minds to advance the education,
Needed for today's children to compete...
Be not a focus of those revealed,
To be graduating with degrees.
With a stimulation done to their imaginations.
But...
A stimulation needed,
Is said to be essential...
To their creative thinking process?

A cheating on tests,
Has yet to prove beneficial.

And today...
People find it difficult to address,
That those with performing arts as their background...
Are found flipping burgers,
Or waiting on tables.
When those discovered to be incompetent,
Irresponsible and lack accountablility...
Can not read nor write.
Or recite what has been written.
And yet...
Are hired to perform tasks for corporations,
That now confess...
They seek people who can read, write...
Do the math, entertain, produce AND direct.
But left to find this pool of talent,
Overseas.

What is missing in the minds of those,
Selected to have the qualities...
That determines they are qualified to lead?
Impressive looks?
Or is it image?

And everything created that has succeeded,
Has come from the minds of those...
Innovative enough,
To make lives more lazier today...
By their inventive thinking and creative ways.

And it is difficult to compete,
With those consistently keeping...
Their minds fixed upon staying in rhythm,
And in tune with the beat of things.

Saddle Up

Saddle up.
This ride we're taking,
Wont be easy.
Saddle up.
We're taking the direct route,
Without a scenic tease.
Saddle up.
This ride we're taking,
Wont be easy.
Saddle up.
We're taking the direct route,
Without a scenic tease.

I've got to speed up that peace,
That waits for me.
All that mess about aggression!
And who's got a better weapon,
To teach a lesson.
Ain't getting one thing done!
But keeping people on the run!

Saddle up.
This ride we're taking,
Wont be easy.
Saddle up.
We're taking the direct route,
Without a scenic tease.
Saddle up.
This ride we're taking,
Wont be easy.
Saddle up.
We're taking the direct route,
Without a scenic tease.

I've got to speed up that peace,
That waits for me.
All that mess about aggression!
And who's got a better weapon,
To teach a lesson.
Ain't getting one thing done!
But keeping people on the run!
I'm not accustomed to the cunning!

Saddle up.
This ride we're taking,
Wont be easy.
Saddle up.
We're taking the direct route,
Without a scenic tease.
If you wont to share that chaos,
You can have the piece I leave.
Or saddle up with me...
And let them keep this sick disease!

To Read And Read Again

TO READ AND READ AGAIN

To read and to read again
And to be left empty
By the abundance of words
Whose meanings multiplication
Erases all sense
Of their coherence
And our understanding.

To read and read again
As if in this pretence of learning
Salvation will come
To read and read again
And be forever dumb.

Common Sense Is Not Indexed

People believe intelligence comes from books they read.
As if to regurgitate another's observations,
Gives them an equal ability to 'see'.

But those who have wisdom,
Observe their environment...
And those who live in it.
The affects this creates.
And whose thoughts dominate them.

However...
Reading does achieve an expanded comprehension.
If one chooses to pursue a degree...
To produce heightened accepted limitations.

Although if one chooses to explore out of the box.
One has to do that on one's own.
Since detailed documentation for this,
Can be found not!
Common sense is not indexed.
And generally pioneered without standards to block.

A poem for Kafka

My elder brother Lalith.P
Who taught me to read and write
And lot of things about fading life.
He's a humble Encyclopedia.
We drink together as friends
When our holey pocket bit sounds
And we had a common sickness
Allergy for money but not alcohol
Villagers amazed of our Brotherhood!
He who introduced me Kafka.
'You should read his The Trial, The Castle
Amerika, The Metamorphosis and the penal Colony.
Most of his unfinished novels published Posthumously.
And He's a German speaking-Jew.'
My brother was really mad of Kafka.
I read few lines of Isaac Bashevis Singer's short story recently
'A friend of Kafka.'
And I write this brief poem underneath for him;
'I am sorry Kafka and still I couldn't touch
One of your golden books
But my inner feeling speaks
You're great among others.'
As I always respect of my Corsican brother's word!

Everyone Here Is Working Hard For You

Do you realize how many poems I've seen,
That you have written?

'No!
How many have you actually 'read'? '

Comeon...
You are not aware of this at all?
I read a few but not all.

'I am aware that I am a writer.
Not an accountant.
Nor someone who sets limits,
To achieve a final goal.
Or someone seeking to impress.

Each day presents its own personality.
I'm learnig to appreciate quality and not quantity.
There is something about life I more understand each day.
My personal awareness of 'that' is what I keep addressed.'

Oh...
So what is that?
If you don't mind me asking?

'I know I am not alone...
Even though I perceive I am on my own!
I hear voices clearly say to me,
Everyone here is working hard for you.
That you must believe.'

I see.
And that makes you produce quality you don't notice?
An involvement you keep distanced?

'I did not say I didn't notice the quality.
Painfully that's done.
I don't put my sights on 'quantity'.
I don't want to overwhelm.
As much as I choose to stun!
And that takes paying attention to everyone! '

Like the voices heard in your head?

'You see...
You're trying to take this somewhere else.
And what you are 'attempting' to imply...
I'm not wasting any more of my time to listen to!
Read more than you do.
And if there is any comprehension to communicate,
You need not announce that to me! '

Barrytown

Im not one to look behind I know that times must change
But over there in barrytown they do things very strange
And though youre not my enemy
I like things like they used to be
And though youd like some company
Im standing by myself
Go play with someone else
I can see by what you carry that you come from barrytown
Dont believe Im taken in by stories I have heard
I just read the daily news and swear by every word
And dont think that Im out of line
For speaking out for what is mine
Id like to see you do just fine
But look at what you wear
And the way you cut your hair
I can see by what you carry that you come from barrytown
In the beginning we recall that the word was hurled
Barrytown people got to be from another world
Leave me or Ill be just like the others you will meet
They wont act as kindly if they see you on the street
And dont you scream or make a shout
Its nothing you can do about
It was there where you came out
Its a special lack of grace
I can see it in your face
I can see by what you carry that you come from barrytown

Umberto Eco

The good of a book lies in its being read. A book is made up of signs that speak of other signs, which in their turn speak of things. Without an eye to read them, a book contains signs that produce no concepts; therefore it is dumb.

I write from a world

I write from a world
~
I write from a world
Of thought and feeling
A world of observation
There to be picked at
There to be used as need be
Whenever or however
It suits me to do so
I write to stave off madness
To save my tongue
From speaking ill words
I write in metaphor
To disguise such things
I am not freely open to discuss
Things better left unsaid
But which stew in the mind
And need to be let out
Other things I write in celebration
To share my joy with all
And all in this world
Shall read or hear that written
From a world of thought
Of feeling and observation

Wing Pages Of The Butterfly

at the nursery
while people
are at purchase
and at transactions
a blue butterfly
comes by
and opens its pages to me
swift and quick
and it says to me:
'Read! Read!
Read my pages! '

'I can’t read, '
I say,
amused
at this brash butterfly

'Read and write!
Read and write
about me,
and all flitting butterflies
Read
and write, you silly! '
it commands

And so I read
and I copy
and these are the words
the words from those
pages
the butterfly
holds up to me

Bye-Bye

When I leave
I will be so glad I made it
I will be glad that the worst is over
But when I leave
There will be tears
There will be sadness

life was not easy
I know it will be a long journey
but i am ready to carry on
It's so hard to understand the fact
That I will leave forever

But it is for the best
Nothing less, nothing more
For now I'll just say
Bye-bye
bye-bye

I wish I could stay
But things will get worse
I'm not ready to move on
But I'll be strong
There's no time to turn back

For now
I'll say
Bye-bye
Bye-bye.....

Collected Madness Accepted

As you read this...
The wicked witches have brewed their fix.
Conflicts have addicted an avoidance to mix...
Those who adventured to trick with splits,
And those who prefer to be left in quiet sits.

Agitating divisions have increased.
Relationships have since decreased.
Backbiting has found itself on the rise.
And the shallow minded now are the ones to cry!

As you read this...
Those of higher consciousness continue to resist,
An obvious planting of encouraged dementedness.
And a struggle to hold onto values crumbling to the ground...
Scattering those responsible,
For a quality of life lost...
Never again to be ever found.

Since a racistness supporting a separateness...
Had followers believing,
This greed they fed would leave them receiving...
The benefits of threatened interests!
And it has...
Left them!
In a unified and collected,
Madness accepted!

Inflicted to intervene with rumors of peace.
Sold to protestors to wear on tee shirts...
Marketed and released!
For a price to pay.
As you read this day after day.
Numbing these events...
That come to stun and are here to stay!

Unless those brave,
Confront them with mental strength.
To condense them,
And erase them away!

My 'Habakkuk' experience

Things were bleak and the outlook was bad.
My soul despaired and my heart was sad.
No job and no income. How shall I provide?
I needed to know that God was on my side.

'What shall I read? ', I said to the Lord
thumbing the pages of His Living Word.
'Read Habakkuk', He said to me so clearly
so I read my bible as He commanded me.

I felt much worse as the first chapter I read
'This is not helping me', to the Lord I said.
'Read on dear Roy', the Lord said to me
and so I read on in faith, obediently.

And then I found it. There in chapter three.
Written so clearly as though just for me.
It lifted my soul to the heavens above
and assured me of God's presence and love.

'Though nothing on earth seems to bloom
and all appears to be doom and gloom,
no sheep in the pen, no cattle in the stall
and no grapes growing on the vine at all.'

'Though the olive crop does not yield
and no produce comes from the field,
even though the fig tree does not bud,
yet still my soul will rejoice in the Lord.'

'I will joy in the God of my salvation,
give Him all my praise and adoration.'
Here on earth 'The just shall live by faith'
for trusting in the Lord they will be safe.'

The things of this world are so unreliable.
They come and go, they rise and they fall.
But heavenly treasures neither fade nor fail
outlasting all things they will prevail.

Secure in the knowledge that God's in control
and that He's the keeper of my immortal soul.
I said to my soul 'Be not cast down or sad'
'But rejoice in the Lord always and be glad'

The Life That’s Left Behind

When you die and go away
You leave your belongings here
The things you collected
All your life is now laid bare
The treasures here and there
Left for someone else to share

The books you so avidly read
They can now climb inside your head
Everything is left with the essence of you
China figurines and paintings to
The diary at the last entry there
Is left for everyone to share

So when you die and go away
You leave your mortal life behind
Your soul leaves you
For a better life to find

A Single String

Name stands for a thing
For its contents and quality.
Name stands for a person
For his body and soul.

When a horse is named,
The name says it’s a horse
And also further says
That it’s not any other.

God is a name given.
Saturn is a name spelt.
They are abstract nouns
Known by imagination.

To understand names
The language must be read.
To know the language,
The speaker must be read.

When we address living things,
We address their inner things
Which are inner connected
As soul, a single string.

Tracks I Leave Behind

We leave tracks in everything we do
and as a writer; I leave tracks
within everything I write.
Little bits of me within the lines
as I write along.
Sometime in the future
people will read what I write
and find the little bits of me.
They will find my sorrows and my joy,
the love that burns within my heart
and the sorrows in my soul.
They are all in there within
the tracks that I leave behind.
Sometimes fiction can be more fact
and if you read the signs,
you will see the way I act.
There is something of me
in all the tracks I leave behind.
