Transience V

Sandy sickle trickle flows
from sure to shore which no-one knows.
Time rhyme measured by man’s mind
soon carved in rime is left behind.
Children that man, spendthrift, sows,
confirm or turn initial woes
as to his heirs ‘the undersigned’
entrusts whatever they may find
to prop or rock, to open close,
to greet as friend or treat as foes,
to spur ambitions transient, blind.
Spun cause, effect, as they unwind
may opportunity disclose
to seek behind rind surface shows,
discover meaning silver-lined...

From All in All Tall to Not at All Small

I was stem, I was thorn, I was rose,
I was leaf, I was grief which arose
when you spurned me and burned me
and quite overturned me
to stimulate nectar's outflows.

Life was clement, I acorn which rose
through belief to be chief tree each knows,
who discerned me concerned me
and right from rite learned, to be
true to no counter-fate crows.

Don’t condemn, never mourn, if Death chose
like a thief no relief to propose,
little earn, no return, we
won’t haunt, daunt nor flaunt free
to simulate spectral hell_o[we]s!

I was wide open door naught could close!
I was stride more than pretty please pose!
Yet life's cycle's spun ugly,
bug so snug in a ruggly
now never may metamorphose!

I'm now mortgage bank seeks to foreclose
where I banked on love's loan to oppose
all 'alone' meant: untimely
rhyme to rime froze, I'm debris
discarded, heart trumped, lachrymose.

Oh how Time and Tide flow into woes!
wave goodbye to fond tie when sigh sows
rank betrayal: Luck, lovely,
turned to bitter, green envy,
Life never rains, pours, but, sore snows!

Was this limerick hard to compose?
Fiction, fantasy, fact tract? What shows?
Final verse lies behind me
mind reversing role blind, we
let reader unwind, com[m]a...toes

A Declaration To You And To Hope!

one look over the edge
closer then i thought! i feel like im in a wedge
of darkness no turning back now
one question comes to mind then how!
can i avoid this edge so imminent! so close
so close to numbness comatose
and other things so close to me
what choice do i have besides jump willingly
look all around and find
someone who is kind
a friend to hold on to
someone like who.....
i must learn to trust... to listen
let their voice be my eyes as i lift them up
find the meaning and no longer be a pup
or scared let us stand here
to face this without a tear
there now turn around to the left
keep going i may be blind but not deaf!
im not beyond help never there is still light
good and right
no shame asking for help
no shame in having to yelp
and pray frantically trapped in the dark
im not that smart
but my friend is find the double meaning and use!
it this is a declaration

Double Bind

The book of Life too soon is signed
away, as to eternity
all vain pretentions are resigned,
few dare discover secret key
unlocking cipher which behind
the letters here or there that we
may string together – for mankind
has other claims, priority.

For Cause, Effect, in double bind
united are – and who’d be free
from one the other meets behind
the veil through which few mortals see.
Complexity’s thus intertwined
with what appears simplicity -
yet some solutions groomed may bind
to tomb the doomed had thought to flee.

No culture code or time-line twined
with cant restraints can ever be
maintained for long, life’s dice remind
contentment knows no prepaid fee,
no cash-and-carry cheque combined
with D.N.A. for passage free
accorded some, - the rest, resigned,
monopolizing misery.

There is no fate which, pre-defined,
MUST circumscribe life’s destiny,
or cheese for some, for others rind
to gnaw while stretching sanity
beyond the limits humankind
should tolerate, while vanity -
inanity – must soon unwind
its substance rotting on life’s tree.

When I was born I woke to find
a world in bloom, but lived to see
the flowers fade. Death came, unkind.
May joys not jade, nor love, for thee.
Beyond Time’s dark, incessant, grind,
find ways with creativity
to soar, explore, - scope redesigned -
rejecting blind conformity.

The moral here is underlined: -
play for the day, meet what will be
with open heart and open mind, -
sufficient flexibility,
to see Chance is not undermined,
that every opportunity
may lead beyond bare alley blind
towards serenity.

Time flows

Time, time just flows
Fills your heart with, highes and lows
Time, time just flows
Shows you birds, the dogs and the crows

You try to stop it
Try to block it
But you can't go
You try to turn it
Try to burn it
But you can not go

Time, time just flows
Takes your name and makes you history heroes
Time, time just flows
Pulls you around, streaches and throws with blows

You try to harm it
Try to charm it
But you can't go
You try to kill it
Try to fill it
But you can not go

This is the time you go around
This is the time you hear the sound
This is the time you run and win
This is the time you find your kin

Just go
Oh! just go

Time it just flows

Overboard - Current Version 1082

P[l]ace not phased day by time, rhyme raised by night,
if there's no wrong may will still praise phrase right,
some corner stranger future friend may greet,
while stranger former friend turns, fiendish plight.

Cause and effect reflect on ends and means
as gridlock smashes into smithereens,
judgemental values must themselves defeat,
beat mind-sets' self-sufficient put up screens.

What's hid is bid unriddled when fond heart
throws rigid reason overboard to start
to separate appearance, surface sheet,
from innner senses' empathy, trust chart.

What's masked behind mind's veil tomorrow may
ignore, few score life's causal keys in play

Life - 1240 - Initial Version

Life comes and goes as fortune flows
It never knows what cause it sows
For cycle slows or speeds, and those
Effects wind blows truth seldom shows.

Like April snows regrets melt: rose
In May soon glows to blossom grows,
Fling sorrow's bows and arrows, woes
End now, and close Time's book, compose

Lines which oppose all sadness owes
In verse or prose no debt - transpose
Free soul which chose as joy arose.
Expose nor woes nor hope foreclose.

LIfe shadows swallows, overthrows,
FEels rose row grows for soul's repose.

Dont Turn Me Away

(graham russell)
We shared such a special love
It seemed to have no end
But now it hurts me just to remember
Your eyes used to tell me so much
That words could never find
And now you say you dont know
Where your future lies
But youve got to find it now
Or get left behind
(chorus)
Please dont turn me away
I cant forget it all in just one day
Take some time to speak your mind
But say its not over
Please dont turn me away
Dont close the door on us this way
Im so sure that theres much more
You just have to tell me
Remember those fireside nights
Its not that long ago
You said you wanted to stay there forever
I have you the strength of my hand
When things were running low
I didnt know you would go back on
What you said
There must be some reasons there
That you dont want to share
(chorus)
Please dont turn me away
I cant forget it all in just one day
Take some time to speak your mind
But say its not over
Please dont turn me away
Dont close the door on us this way
Im so sure that theres much more
You just have to tell me
And just when you needed me
I said Id be there until the end
What is it thats changed in you
When all I want is to be your friend
( I need a friend )
Dont turn me away

In My Time

In my mind
The golden silver statues turn to tin
And I find
Confidence is just a place Ive been
In my mind
I was kind
When poppas begging friendship came to me
I was blind
To think it would be easy to be free
In my time
Ive not lied
I tried to save the pride I hold within
When I denied
Happiness is just a room Im in
In my time
In my mind
The golden silver statues turn to tin
And I find
Happiness is just a place Ive been
In my time

Author notes
Although this is shown as a double mirrored retourne the poem has been framed so as to alternate each and every line within any given stanza... although only in four cases can the acrostic palindrome EMIT TIME run throughout.

The Mirror effect enables the poem to be read top down TIME or bottom up EMIT - The Retourne is of course only mirrored in the mirror if one reads bottom up.

This offers a possibility of 4 x 4 x 12 x 64 combinations

The Moderns

To many reading modern poetry more interesting the meaning in the metaphors they seek to find
They feel it makes their brains work that much harder that it is good exercise for the mind
Rhyme for their great brains seems that bit too simple it does not test their thinking power at all
'Tis not a poem to them if it seems simple and the meaning in it easy to recall,
Yes rhyme for them it does seem that bit simple and deciphering it to them is not a test
The hidden meaning in the metaphors is something that does seem to try them best
Rhyme poetry to them is too simple and far too easy for to understand
It has to be blank verse with dozens of metaphors for their interest for to command
They look on rhyme and bush poets as inferior their preference in poets and poetry they make known
On literature they air their opinions like it is said to each their own
Their poetry evenings do seem quite exclusive rhyme poets to read they never do invite
Their unmusical lines that are laced with metaphors to each other they do recite
They do not like rhyme or they do not like bush poetry to them it is of another time
And in their poetry evenings there is no place for the men and the women of rhyme.

US may YOU/ME replace

Make fairyland from rocky start to rose
Advancing, wings unfurled, to greet new dawn,
Uniting hopes and dreams, fears put to scorn
Delight shines bright, osmosis fresh glows, sows
Enchantment where one might say shells would close,
Chose to shun outward shows while heart forlorn
Mocked self-sustaining fantasy, would mourn
Amazing grace deprived of love's dew flows.
US may YOU/ME replace as heart's heart knows
Divinity, where two, divided, torn,
Expected little, giving much. Reborn
Connections linked, two, close, may blooms unclose.
Meter, rhyme, combine with feelings rich,
Change destiny from dread's bled threads' cross stitch.

Friends And Foes

Better are foes than friends, sometimes, oh friend
Flip through thy pages friends, pretentiously
And say, “It's great, so nice, wondrous and good! ”
But foes! Rummage with spite them ruthlessly
In search of faults, they tear you piece by piece

God knows what foes unearth and well discern
In their inadvertence may discover
Precious jewels you hid in oblivion
And win you accolades of connoisseurs

So, friends or foes, never mind thee, oh friend
To friends say warm hello and thanks a lot
And there they come, your foes, with smiles crooked
Come on, up on thy feet and make salute

An honest intention

It is matter of clear intent
With less or more you will have to content
Joy and happiness always and never to lament
Not to express burning desire or comment

We have lot many desires in mind
It has no meaning or parallel to find
Almighty is so pleased on us and very kind
We should not pretend to be ignorant or blind

There may still be something short of in expectation
Thoughts may hound us and raise thousand and one questions
It is how you accept it as fate and real destiny?
We may still be excelling in unknown field or many

Our fancy or needs has got no end
We may err but no time to mend
No timely help can be had even from friend
This is natural and uniform prevalent trend

How do you then contend with whatever you have?
How you look intelligent but normally behave?
It may be wise to ask for such treasure
We may then have boundless pleasure

I shall continue to seek it in humble way
No dominance on others but still pivotal role to play
This will naturally take us away from frustration
We will go for mere contentment without any equation

There is no far or near end to meet
Every opportunity or events gladly to meet
You may find all happiness at your feet
When people may embrace you and openly greet

This is the way you face the problem and confront
It doesn’t matter what we usually expect or want?
It may come any way if you have really tried
How can you expect water from well if it is really dried?

Space Monkey

Space monkey, space monkey
What you doing out there?
Why its dark as a dungeon way up in the air
Come gather round me you little monkeys and a story Ill tell
About a brave young primate, outer space knew him well
He was born at the top of a big old tree
Way back in 1953.
He could swing through the jungle and hang by his toes
Till they took him to russia cause they could I suppose
They dressed him up in a spacesuit and it started to snow
Shot him off in a rocket where no man would go
Space monkey space monkey
What you doing out there?
Why its dark as a dungeon way up in the air
Therell be no one to greet you when you get back home
No hammer or sickle youll be on your own.
He had plenty of cuban bananas and loads of spam
But he found great difficulty trying to open the can
One day he slipped on a banana peel and the ship lost control
It spun out of orbit and shot o]ut the black hole
Its been four decades now, thats nine monkey years
Thats a long time for a space monkey to confront all his fears
Space monkey space monkey
What you doing out there?
Why its dark as a dungeon way up in the air
Therell be no one to greet you when you get back home
No hammer or sickle youll be all on your own.
Space monkey, space monkey
Its time to get real
The space race is over, how does it feel
Cold wars had a heatwave, iron curtains torn down
Theyve rolled up the carpet in space monkey town
Now leningrad is petersburg and petersburgs hell
For a card-carrying monkey with a story to tell
The space monkey was reportedly last sighted about
A half a block off of red square
In a karaoke bar having a few drinks with some of his friends
There was the dog that flew sputnik
And a blind red-headed, one legged parrot
Who had done some minor research for dow chemical
They were drinking american vodka
Imported all the way from paducah, kentucky
And reportedly had their arms around each others
Shoulders singing.
Those were the days, my friend, we thought theyd never end
Space monkey, space monkey
Theres nothing to do
But its better than living in a communist zoo
Therell be no one to greet you when you get back home
No hammer or sickle youll be all on you own

Cyclops Rock

I taught you how to cyclops rock
And then you go and turn around and break my heart
And waste my cyclops time and mess up my cyclops mind
Im sick like chuckie was sick, my defeated heart keeps beating on
I wont die, like chuckie wont die, but Im not here to socialize
Gotta find a new place to hang out, because Im tired of living in hell
Im a mess since you cut me out but chuckies arm keeps me company
Im a fright with my tombstone smile
All the children run away from me
Gotta find new friends to hang with because youre all afraid of me
I taught you how to cyclops rock
And then you go and turn around and break my heart
And waste my cyclops time and mess up my cyclops mind
It was sweet like lead paint is sweet but the after effects left me paralyzed
I just stare with my one glass eye hoping you wont be back again
Theres a whole new generation waiting to be wrecked by you
I taught you how to cyclops rock
And then you go and turn around and break my heart
And waste my cyclops time and mess up my cyclops mind

These Bends

I’m more than a little lost and found
But this town, it is dead
And there’s to many hypocrisies in my head
And it just wind, wind, unwinds me out

Just give me some time
Then give me a place, (somewhere new)
Bewildering concepts of time and space
They all just wind, unwind, wind out of me

A year and a day and three broken hearts are
Books lined up on the shelves of
Too many words I said
But I just wind, wind, unwind myself

Ghosts of a thousand memories
Have taken over this place just
Faces in dreams and corners
They help me wind, wind unwind myself out

Of this place and at this time
I need a new escape
When is my next escape?
Or release, from me, my mind, my fears, my dreams
So I don’t wind, wind, unwind, myself out of here

Down And Out

Well I'm out on a tear 'cause she's tearing me apart
If I look rough on the outside, you ought to see my heart.
And this look in my eyes shows beyond a doubt,
Since my woman left, I'm down and out.
Well, I'm down at the bar, out of my mind,
Tighter than an eight-day clock with no way to unwind,
That jukebox cries the blues like it knows what I'm about.
Since my woman left, I'm down and out.
Well I'm down to my last dollar, but I don't really care.
My friends have all got whiskey, and they don't mind if I share.
They know how it feels to have your heart torn inside out,
Since my woman left, I'm down and out.
Well, I'm down at the bar, out of my mind,
Tighter than an eight-day clock with no way to unwind,
That jukebox cries the blues like it knows what I'm about.
Since my woman left, I'm down and out.
Since my woman left, since my woman left,
Since my woman left, I'm down and out
