From All in All Tall to Not at All Small
I was stem, I was thorn, I was rose,
I was leaf, I was grief which arose
when you spurned me and burned me
and quite overturned me
to stimulate nectar's outflows.
Life was clement, I acorn which rose
through belief to be chief tree each knows,
who discerned me concerned me
and right from rite learned, to be
true to no counter-fate crows.
Don’t condemn, never mourn, if Death chose
like a thief no relief to propose,
little earn, no return, we
won’t haunt, daunt nor flaunt free
to simulate spectral hell_o[we]s!
I was wide open door naught could close!
I was stride more than pretty please pose!
Yet life's cycle's spun ugly,
bug so snug in a ruggly
now never may metamorphose!
I'm now mortgage bank seeks to foreclose
where I banked on love's loan to oppose
all 'alone' meant: untimely
rhyme to rime froze, I'm debris
discarded, heart trumped, lachrymose.
Oh how Time and Tide flow into woes!
wave goodbye to fond tie when sigh sows
rank betrayal: Luck, lovely,
turned to bitter, green envy,
Life never rains, pours, but, sore snows!
Was this limerick hard to compose?
Fiction, fantasy, fact tract? What shows?
Final verse lies behind me
mind reversing role blind, we
let reader unwind, com[m]a...toes

Life - 1240 - Initial Version
Life comes and goes as fortune flows
It never knows what cause it sows
For cycle slows or speeds, and those
Effects wind blows truth seldom shows.
Like April snows regrets melt: rose
In May soon glows to blossom grows,
Fling sorrow's bows and arrows, woes
End now, and close Time's book, compose
Lines which oppose all sadness owes
In verse or prose no debt - transpose
Free soul which chose as joy arose.
Expose nor woes nor hope foreclose.
LIfe shadows swallows, overthrows,
FEels rose row grows for soul's repose.

Life's Tides 1240 Current Version
Linked ebbs and flows, tides fortune blows,
It never knows what cause it sows
For cycle slows or speeds, and those

Like April snows regrets melt: rose
In May soon glows to blossom grows.
Fling sorrow's bows and sharp arrows,
Enjoy life 'til Time's pages close

Transience V
Sandy sickle trickle flows
from sure to shore which no-one knows.
Time rhyme measured by man’s mind
soon carved in rime is left behind.
Children that man, spendthrift, sows,
confirm or turn initial woes
as to his heirs ‘the undersigned’
entrusts whatever they may find
to prop or rock, to open close,
to greet as friend or treat as foes,
to spur ambitions transient, blind.
Spun cause, effect, as they unwind
may opportunity disclose
to seek behind rind surface shows,
discover meaning silver-lined...

Only One Horrible Thorn
I like to cry and throw a fit
Even the dark day I was born
I am a sad and drooping rose
With only one horrible thorn
I did not like people around
I would sit, curse at them and scorn
I am a sad and drooping rose
With only one horrible thorn
My heart could never feel the love
Deep inside I felt sad and torn
I am a sad and drooping rose
With only one horrible thorn
People still tried to get close to me
I would open my mouth and warn
I am a sad and drooping rose
With only one horrible thorn
I will never show a smile
This is an oath that I have sworn
I am a sad and drooping rose
With only one horrible thorn
But the day will come, I will die
Then haunt people after they mourn
I am a sad and drooping rose
With only one horrible thorn

Author notes
Although this is shown as a double mirrored retourne the poem has been framed so as to alternate each and every line within any given stanza... although only in four cases can the acrostic palindrome EMIT TIME run throughout.
The Mirror effect enables the poem to be read top down TIME or bottom up EMIT - The Retourne is of course only mirrored in the mirror if one reads bottom up.
This offers a possibility of 4 x 4 x 12 x 64 combinations

The Rose #2
She was only 21-when her fiancés life
Was taken with a gun.
They had three years together
And life was getting so much better.
They had plans for a wedding in June
But it ended much too soon.
He had given her a long stem rose
Then he fell to one knee, and did propose.
She took the rose and with loving tender care
With her diary she would share.
She took the rose and cut the stem
And she knew his love would never end.
She knew with time this flower would wither
And die- and that it was a love between he and I.
So she got the silica gel, And preserved the
Rose very well.
She put it into a plastic bag
and vacuumed out all the air.
Then put it into her diary
Where only she could see.
They said it was a down right shame
That he was in the middle of a shootout
Between two rival gangs.
That was when he lost his life
Before she became his loving wife.
As the tears rolled down her eyes
She started to visualize
Of how her wedding day would have been
Had he not been in the wrong place
At the wrong time.
Their life would have turned out fine.
As she placed the rose upon the diary page
Growing inside of her was a sense of rage.
Why can life be so cruel, and people so full of hate?
But looking at the rose, her heart started to melt
Relieving her of all the anger she felt.
Their love for each other was “ oh so pure”
Of a happy life together she was sure.
Life can be comical, and you never know
What it will bring.
But she got pregnant doing her thing.
Then one night when she fell asleep
Into her mind he did creep
And told her these words:
Now you have three things I left behind
My love, a rose, and a child of mine.
When she awoke, she knew he did not die in vain
For he left a part of himself to relieve her pain.

Find a moments peace
To see the cycle,
one observes the rose,
whose roots suck on,
though all the petals fall,
nourishing seeds and death,
and then recall-
with purpose no philosophies
disclose.
Like man, from planted seed
the rose is born,
then thrusts about
for water, sun, and air,
essences which, before the rose,
were there,
but which it claims
with sharp and savage thorn.
It pricks against the world,
unknowing, blind,
even the vital bee
and scavenging ant,
set against all
except the mother plant,
indifferent to love
and to the cruel or kind.
The purpose of the rose
is only, then,
to grow and die,
and out of death to come
prepatterned cycle,
back to life again,
a pointless round,
from bloom to seed to bloom.
And yet, beyond the cycle,
gentle eyes
look at the rose
and find a moment's peace,
a dream of love
and kindliness, surcease
from hate and greed
and from the covering lies.
Savage and saveged,
with thorns no rose has grown,
man also breeds,
simply so he may die
for reasons which to him
are as unknown
as to the rose,
though he may wonder why-
Which gives one hope
within the encircling doubt
of purposes
one does not know about.

It Came With The Threat Of A Waning Moon
It came with the threat of a waning moon
And the wail of an ebbing tide,
But many a woman has lived for less,
And many a man has died;
For life upon life took hold and passed,
Strong in a fate set free,
Out of the deep into the dark
On for the years to be.
Between the gloom of a waning moon
And the song of an ebbing tide,
Chance upon chance of love and death
Took wing for the world so wide.
O, leaf out of leaf is the way of the land,
Wave out of wave of the sea
And who shall reckon what lives may live
In the life that we bade to be?

On Love And Beauty: I: To A Promessa Sposa
Look on this flower, which, from its little tree
Of bodily stem and branches and leaves green,
Leans lovelier, being toucht, and smelt, and seen
A Rose, a Rose, a Rose! and, though thy three
Senses praise it triply unto thee,
And all their parlous difference intervene,
Yet unto thee, who knowest what they mean,
Thee who art one, and hast been, and shalt be,
Is one as thou; one Rose, one beauteous Rose,
One rosy Beauty. Who shall reason why
The slow stem, on a sudden season, shows
It can be worm unto this butterfly?
We know but this, that when yon ecstasy
Transfigures the green tree, its time of fruit is nigh.

A Rose Arose
Of all that nature’s garden grows
the fairest flower is the Rose,
bending to each breeze that blows.
Rose beauty, joy, together sows, -
‘Tis true, as everybody knows, -
inadequately penned in prose.
For from her crown all colour flows,
her petals pink or red she shows,
with white or amber, golden glows.
‘Tis said, or so the story goes,
her spiny thorns are elf arrows
to scare the sprites from the meadows.
In slumber see her heart enclose
bee’s happiness, in sweet repose,
unsullied by harsh winter snows.
Both dark and bright, white, virgin shows, -
the rose from Paradise arose,
and on Time's wing she blows, she blows.

Buy Me a Rose
Buy me a rose, Buy me a rose
Buy me sweet reasons to be forever close
Tender me with words propose
Wear my heart on your sleeves
for i am the rose you chose
Reveal your gentle pose
Make me your fair lady before chairs and doors
Buy me a rose, Buy me a rose
And out for a dozen for me he goes
Past mountain high and wild river flows
I must be i suppose
His romantic quest and cause
Buy me a rose, Buy me a rose
Venture deeper into me
make me eternally yours
Share with me the gift my belly grows
suddenly loving me his world not knows
And in to the distance sails as the new wind blows
Buy me a rose, Buy me a rose
Better yet maybe not
a precious one in me grows

Rose And A Honeycomb
(Talk) - Mike
The rose
Verse 1 - Nate & Shawn
How I love to smell
She kisses me so well (She kisses)
Unlike anyone I've ever known (You're the best)
Knew there was no other who
Listen it's time up
But I see right now I was deadly wrong (I was wrong)
Scent is ohh so strong
Feel like an animal
'Cause I can smell it through the phone
Soft like silky petals
All over my skin
Still yearning for the honey
That I've been missing (I've been missing)
Chorus
The love I've been waiting for all my life
Has rendered my soul helpless
Whether in bloom or a taste I consume
My rose and a honeycomb (My rose and a honeycomb)
The love I've been waiting for all my life
Has entered my heart with grief
Can't think of a reason
Taste and smell when in season
My rose and a honeycomb
(Talk) - Mike
The honeycomb
Verse 2 - Wanya, Shawn & Nate
Sweet and tantalizing
It just stays on the rising
Everytime her eyes address my name
So hard to keep composure
'Cause she's taking over
Fills my every fantasy
(Tastes just like heaven) Tastes just like heaven
Can't feel my knees
Like my precious rose
She attracts too many bees
(Talk) - Wanya
Sometimes I wish I never knew her
I meant some people knew her
But I need the sticky love that she gives to me
Chorus
The love I've been waiting for all my life
Has rendered my soul helpless
Whether in bloom or a taste I consume
My rose and a honeycomb (my rose and a honeycomb)
The love I've been waiting for all my life (all my life)
Has entered my heart with grief (entered my heart)
Can't think of a reason
Taste and smell when in season
My rose and a honeycomb (honeycomb)
Bridge - Nate, Shawn & Wanya
Oh how I wish I could choose
Be ashamed to fight for love and then lose
So I'll taste as I smell
I can't choose the whole world
My rose or my honeycomb
But if one day I am found
And be forced to let one wear the crown
If we are to do this
Neither one would be missed
My rose and my honeycomb...
Chorus
The love I've been waiting for all my life
Has rendered my soul helpless (so helpless)
Whether in bloom or a taste I consume (whether, my rose)
My rose and a honeycomb (my rose and a honeycomb)
The love I've been waiting for all my life
Has entered my heart with grief (entered my heart)
Can't think of a reason
Taste and smell when in season
My rose and a honeycomb (and a honeycomb)
2nd Bridge - Wanya
She's my rose
She was my rose
See I love loving her
She mkes me feel like a man
Oh my honeycomb
Make me feel like a man
Chorus
The love I've been waiting for all my life (she was the sweetest)
Has rendered my soul helpless (thing that God could ever send to a man)
Whether in bloom or a taste I consume
My rose and a honeycomb
The love I've been waiting for all my life (I've been waiting for)
Has entered my heart with grief (entered my heart)
Can't think of a reason
Taste and smell when in season
My rose and a honeycomb (my honeycomb)

Live Your Life Be Free
Live your life be free
Live your life be free
Open up your mind and you will see
You should be with me baby
You should be with me
I see you walking with her
I see you all around
But you don't seem very happy now
You seem very down
I know you feel an obligation
To her emotional state of mind
This is the time in your life baby
When you should be having a good time
And if you want me I'll be there
To run my fingers through your hair
And if you need me its alright
Come on over baby, and see me tonight
You got to
Live your life be free
Live your life be free
Open your mind and you will see
You should be with me baby
You should be with me
You know that I'll be waiting
You know my heart is true
I will be your everything
And give everything to you
So if you want me baby I know
Don't have to knock knock down my doors
Her heart was meant to be broken that day
You got a lot of love to live
So why dont you
Live your life be free
Live your life be free
Open your mind and you will see
You should be with me baby
You should be with me
You should be with me baby
You should be with me
Live your life be free baby
Live your life be free baby
Live your life be free baby
Live your life be free baby
Live your life be free baby
Live your life be free baby
Live your life be free baby
Live your life be free baby
And when you free your mind
You will leave your past behind
Live your life be free
Live your life be free
Open your mind and you will see
You should be with me baby
You should be with me
Live your life be free
Live your life be free
Open your mind and you will see
You should be with me baby
You should be with me

Rose In A Box
I take a box of solid steel, my final gift to you
Our parting token, last goodbye, before we walk our paths anew.
Inside I place a Rose; like my heart, it has blackened with time
'Twas blooming crimson when first we met, but withered with each clock's chime.
That Rose is as our love was; so blooming and fresh at the start
But a Rose is not meant to be kept in a box; it needs freedom, just like my heart.
A Wild Rose can grow any way it wants, but is pruned under human hand
It has to follow a set of rules its Wanderlust can't understand.
So now I hand you a Rose in a box, because I want you to see
The reason I had to leave you; my heart is a Gypsy, it loves to feel free.
When you're ready, dearest, toss the Rose in the turbulent sea
Let go of my heart forever; say goodbye and set me free xxx

Rose Lachrymose
Didn’t know that rose how big in the tower of tears
She blossomed to me
Stopped in the middle of the sky the rose thought
I made a house of longing open for gentleness’
With secret doors for dreams
Didn’t that rose know that into her house doubles live
And to whom she opens doors
And inside like a blind man she touches me with a scent
While she was often finding me lost from myself
And asking me if she had to keep any longer
I was watching through those hard tears
Like in a swirl unreachable between rocks and deaf
In the beginning and in the end of my time
And how you were looking at me with two eyes
While in the zenith of all my „I“ like one I was awakening
And red of love in the middle of the sky you were blossoming
Did that rose know that God is showing to us the way
To give her life with words
And with unlimited love and with no doubt to share her
O, did that rose know that what we lost long ago
Will come there where it’s supposed to be and to someone who will be able
To free her scent from the sky

Flowers Of My Heart
Enter my flowers
love becomes an open
door
into my hearts way
color my love red
the passion of this
blossom
brings fire to my
life
pink and delicate
this rose belongs to
my heart
she overwhelms me
in the purity of
this lovely rose bud
white
I always find delight
I melt in the nectar
of this beautiful
flower
dainty and yellow.
I love.!
the essence of my
coral rose
a blend of many
colors
so endearing
a late bloomer
yet so lovely
adding to my bouquet
once again I come
to the flowers of my
heart
lost in their beauty.

U Thief, U Stole My Heart
U thief, U stole my heart
Oh, the grief, i am torn all apart
U thief, U stole my heart
Oh, the brief encounter, i should have known it would b
bad from the start
U thief, U stole my heart
Oh, the relief, i don't have 2 let u in, I guess even though
i will b lonely, i win
U thief, U stole my heart
Oh, the belief, y do i dare, y do i even care
U thief, U stole my heart
Oh, the mischief, i saw the signs, but i chose not 2 read
between the lines
U thief, U stole my heart
Like the falling leaf, i will just have 2 make a new start

A Black Rose
A black rose can stop the beat of ones heart…
A black rose brings the scent of death as it tears love apart…
A black rose makes nightmares reality…
A black rose fills my life with uncertainty…
A black rose is forgotten hopes and dreams…
A black rose is a broken girl laying in tears and painful screams…
A black rose is the pain of a shattered life…
A black rose is lost love in my hopeless life…
A black rose is the memories that haunt my restless soul…
A black rose took everything from me that once made me whole…
Including…you…
A Teardrop On The Rose
Written and recorded by hank williams (sr)
While [c] strolling thru a lovely [g7] garden
As day was drawing to a [c] close...[g7]
My [c] eyes be-[c7]-held a tragic [f] story
I [g7] saw a teardrop on a [c] rose.
It should have been a tear of gladness
But deep inside the sorrow shows
A trusting heart had just been broken
I saw a teardrop on a rose.
A sobbing tear that follows parting
Holds all the pain that sorrow knows
A false goodbye a life is shattered
There lies a story on a rose.
The tear will dry the rose will wither
When spring and winter comes and goes
I loved, I lost, my story ended
With just a teardrop on a rose.
