Malaysiana - Rejang River
POETRY IN PROGRESS
I never knew you are a giant
until i went around the country
i saw the Klang and Gombak rivers
in Kuala Lumpur and and were surprised
to learn that they even called them rivers
arent them really just little rivers or streams?
the ones we put pavements over at the old market in Sibu
malaysians should see the Sarawak and Rejang Rivers
to know what Sarawakians mean by rivers
that would be a real integration of
geographical standads and how we see things
when after a rain and the sun begins to set,
a walk at the Rejang Esplanade does feel like
on a beach, the water lapping and splashing
the cool and fresh air revitalising the lungs and body
at sweet and pulpy pineapple town Sarikei
and sugary green orange town Bintangor
and at Kerto where vases and colourful pottery
are moulded out of the Rejang quality clay

Mountain Peak
We came together on the highest mountain on this earth.
As years went by we separated into rivers
from the tears this mountain cried.
We all fell into different rivers flowing though
forests, rocks, and waterfalls.
No matter what season we came across
we continued flowing.
We are rivers that started in the mountains,
and rivers that separated as we went through
many waterfalls.
Sometimes we travel together,
and other times we travel alone.
Always remember that these same rivers
that travel many miles through the earth
are once again together when it reaches its final destination
the “Ocean”
So, rivers that started up high in the mountains
and then separated are united
again as a family.

Many Rivers To Cross
Theres so many rivers to cross
But I cant seem to find my way over
Wandering, Im lost
As I travel along the white cliffs of dover
Many rivers to cross
And its only my will that keeps me alive.
Ive been hurt, washed up for years
But I mearly survive because of my pride
And this loneliness wont leave me alone,
Its such a drag to be on your own
My baby left, and she wouldnt say why,
Now all I do is cry...
Ive got many rivers to cross
And its only my will that keeps me alive
Ive got so many rivers to cross,
Oh, so many rivers to cross...

Negro Speaks of Rivers
I've known rivers:
I've known rivers ancient as the world and older than the
flow of human blood in human veins
My soul has grown deep like the rivers.
I bathed in the Euphrates when dawns were young
I built my hut near the Congo and it lulled me to sleep.
I looked upon the Nile and raised the pyramids above it.
I heard the singing of the Mississippi when Abe Lincoln
went down to New Orleans, and I've seen its muddy
bosom turn all golden in the sunset
I've known rivers:
Ancient, dusky rivers.
My soul has grown deep like the rivers.

Tears Of A Guy
Lone child in the wild
A bird thats lost at sea
The words that whisper in the silent film
Say tomorrows gone for me
All night lying with your head in my hands
And I search for reasons why
But if I cant get to it - I cant get through it
All thats gone now - all thats...
The tears of a guy
Is all I ever see
The tears of a guy
So many rivers run to me
Wake up dreaming with the sun in my eyes
Hear me screaming, dont ask why
Some strange music from some sweet soul song
Says I cant feel it - I cant try
Time goes - and the fountain still flows
Ill be watching through fortunate eyes
But I cant get cured - I must endure
All thats gone now - all thats...
The tears of a guy
Is all I ever see
The tears of a guy
So many rivers run to me
Drift by the walls - this way
Babylon - in your eyes
Drift by the walls - this way
Babylon - in your eyes
So many rivers run through me
(and we will walk)
Oh little angel
Its all I ever see
(and we will rise)
So many rivers run to me
(and we will walk)
Oh my little angels
In your eyes
So many rivers run through me
In your eyes

I Go Sailing
I took a worthless trip
Down lifes avenue
Just to try to find a way to smile again
While I was on my way
I met a wise man who said
That happiness you only find within
I learned my lesson then
So I go sailing
Through the rivers of my mind
I go sailing
Be surprised what you can find
I go sailing
Through the rivers of my mind
Take a chance on your mind
Be surprised what youll find
I took a friends advice
Who said go up and away
Take the magic of a mystery tour
But I felt so all alone
Though I could almost touch the stars
I started missing things I touched before
The tour was such a bore
So I go sailing
Through the rivers of my mind
I go sailing
Be surprised what you can find
I go sailing
Through the rivers of my mind
Take a chance on your mind
Be surprised what youll find
(repeat)

Patriot
And the rivers shall open for the righteous...
And the rivers shall open for the righteous...
And the rivers shall open for the righteous someday...
I was walking with my brother,
And he wondered, oh how I am.
Said what I believe in my soul
Ain't what I see with my eyes,
And there's no turning back this time.
I am a patriot, and I love my country,
Because my country is all I know.
Wanna be with my family,
People who understand me.
I got no place else to go.
I was walking with my girlfriend.
She looked so fine, I said
"Baby, what's on your mind?"
Said I want to run like the lions
Released from their cages...
Released from the rages
Burning in my soul tonight.
I am a patriot, and I love my country,
Because my country is all I know.
And I ain't no communist,
And I ain't no socialist,
And I ain't no capitalist,
And I ain't no imperialist,
And I ain't no democrat,
Sure ain't no republican either,
I only know one party,
And that is freedom.
I am...I am...I am...
I am a patriot, and I love my country,
Because my country is all I know.
And the rivers shall open for the righteous,
And the rivers shall open for the righteous,
And the rivers shall open for the righteous someday...
Someday...someday

Alluring Brooks
Comely brooks are fine with an alluring kindness,
Beleaguering the brain with beautiful uprising;
These small rivers infect the daily activity,
Brooding on our minds like a becoming reason.
Shy, reserved rivers think like things that enable being,
Being concentrates with a redolent appeal
Like the small rivers of a summery day
Called brooks of divine authority,
Sempiternal water of the mind, feelings are same.

Pantun - Arus deras sungei Klang setelah hujan lebat (translated to English)
arus deras setelah hujan lebat
cepat ubah wajahnya sungei klang
bagai kuala lumpur di susuli ekonomi pesat
dulu pekerja ladang skrang towkay kilang
the water is treacherous after the rain
the klang river is fast to change her image
like kuala lumpur after the fast economic progress
those farmers some are now factory owners
arus deras sungei klang setelah hujan lebat
bagai kuala lumpur di susuli ekonomi hebat
bangunan tingi lambang pembagunan pesat
ibu kota yang mulai dari lumpur ke suatu pusat
river klang is choppy after a bout of rain
like kuala lumpur after its economic growth
high buildings are signs of development
the city that grows from a mud estuary to an important centre

Let us be like rivers, Love
The Table shall never meet the Fuji again
Let us be like rivers, Love
Great rivers, not mountains!
On their epic journey to grace
The Land of the gods with much needed hope
Where an arid desert is the ‘mirror of heaven’
Great rivers run from a Great Lake
Ignorant of borders, boundaries or nationalities
They run
But no matter how long or how apart they grow
Great rivers are sure to become one sometime
At the edge of some distant sea

Back To The River Of Beli
The rivers of belief
(curly m.c./david fairstein)
Take me back to the rivers of belief
Take me back to the rivers of belief
My friend
I look inside my heart
I look inside my soul
I promise you
I will return
And when the lamb opened the seventh seal
Silence covered the sky
Take me back to the rivers of belief
Take me back to the rivers of belief
My friend
I look inside my heart
I look inside my soul
Im reaching out for you
Lets hope one day
Well rest in peace
On my rivers of belief

Oga
You've turned over me and the will not help you,
For i do live by the rivers of love;
And, you really know that.
Oga, i am the lady of the rivers;
But you've denied your previous responsibilities!
And these rivers flow like the muse of my love.

ROADS APART part(2)
roads became apart
when one's ethics, true friendship and knowledge distilled are different
and lives are disconnected
who will reach the goal of peace and freedom?
Those who believe equality, justice, huminity and democracy will be there.
'I want to be a good person', said a young man in Myanmar.
'Yes, You can.'A young man encourged him.
This is a good story with no tricks.
Rivers are rivers and not rivers but water flowing for ever with
no names mentioned before
This is a history of new fresh and bright generation of Myanmar.
The Rivers of a Poet
The Rivers of the Poet
The verses of the poet
vary from the rivers
though they also flow
while circulating inside
until materializing
in words and verses
that others can see.
The poet’s soul communions
with the exterior world
and flows like the rivers
with each inspiration.
The rivers of the poet
do dry inside of him
as he writes,
but it is forever
that they flow in written form
upon the sheets of paper.
That is how
the rivers of the poet
leave and manage to stay
until another river
appears and flows
with another inspiration.

Many Rivers To Cross
Many rivers to cross
But I can't seem to find
My way over
Wandering I am lost
As I travel along
The white cliffs of dover
Many rivers to cross
And it's only my will
That keeps me alive
I've been licked
Washed up for years
And I merely survive
Because of my pride
And this loneliness won't leave me alone
It's such a drag to be on your own
My man he left me but he wouldnt say why
Well I guess, I have to try
Many rivers to cross
But just where to begin
I'm playing for time
There'll be times I find myself
Thinking of committing
Some dreadful crime.
And this loneliness won't leave me alone
It's such a drag to be on your own
My man he left me but he wouldnt say why
Well I guess, I have to try, yeah yeah
Rivers, rivers to cross
Yeah yeah
Rivers to cross

Death Of The Trees
My town is a place where
The rich tourists come,
With mountains and rivers
That glint in the sun!
Luxuriant beaches
Of ivory sand,
But all the jade forests
Now no longer stand!
There once were lush jungles
That grew dense and tall,
But woodcutters came when
The town was still small...
They hacked all the trees down
And shipped them away,
In huge merchant vessels
That sailed to the bay!
They went back to Europe
With precious hard woods,
Sold it as furniture
And other fine goods...
I wish I could travel
In time to the day
Before people cleared all
The forests away!
I wish I had seen them
Before settlers came,
The mountains and rivers
May still be the same...
Iron, Yellow, Black Wood
And most of all trees,
Don't sway any more in
The fresh coastal breeze...

Notions
Many of us state the notions of presence,
Mighty rivers flow and dive into the abyss;
Kicking me in the leg and then arms fly
For the might of rivers is high and mighty.
Let the years roll on like the seas and rivers,
Jumping along the bed of oceans,
Lulling the fight of the whirlpools.
Open a door to the heavens once they cascade,
Let the door be of love and mighty rivers justify
Our fight for survival,
For survival is the better goal for one’s trust.

Reading poetry on the Web
i wade through rivers
of diamonds, rubies,
plain rocks and stones
that criss cross the world
picking up gems
poetry on the web
i wade through rivers
to get to international souls
sacred rivers of all kinds
ganges, indus, nile, mekong
chao phraya
filled with stones
heads of all kinds,
round, flat, sharp,
black, white, green,
brown, yellow, big and small,
sand, silt, gravel,
between them when lucky
precious gems turn up to greet me
fishes help spread the magic
liven up nooks and corners
some sprint, some plain swim
among these, the best rivers
are crystal clear,
a dazzling picture of sky, heaven
taking the breath of god
as they whisper a poetic tale
immediately marked in gold by the morning sun
