Soliloquy of the first time buyer

To buy, or not to buy: That is the Question.
Whether it is better in the end to suffer
The moods and whims of some outrageous landlord
Or take A.R.M.S. against your future earnings
And end up owning something? In hock, for years;

Pay rent? And by paying rent to say we end
The heart ache and the thousand natural shocks
Home ownership is heir to. Reduced Consumption?
No Politician’s wish! To rent? To lease?
To lease, perchance to own? Ay, that’s a thought
For in the grip of debt you’re paying bills
Till you have shuffled off this mortal coil

It gives one pause. That’s the aspect
That makes calamity of adjusting rates
For who would bear the years and years of debt
Fine dining now reduced to happy meals,
Buyers remorse, and the long delays.
The Questionable title and the risk
Your credit rating doesn’t rate the loan.
When you yourself know if you lose your job
You’ll end up sleeping in your S.U.V.

To grunt and sweat under a heavy load
Under the threat of something worse than debt
The forced short sale, from which, once closed
No equity returns. It puzzles the will.
And makes us rather bear such debts we have
And, if necessary, refinance them still.

Compounding thus make cowards of us all.
And so our youthful promise and ambition
Is hobbled by the weight of student loans
Made by lenders judged too big to fail.
In this regard the risk is very real
We lose the house to auction.

Debt and Effect

Do you like to do what you like,
Have dream to live luxurious life,
Buy a car, house or household,
Have planning to tour the world
Or want to own valuables, then flaunt,
Taking mate shopping or restaurant,
Short of money? Loan makes it easy.
Credit card can make you more crazy.
Though this truth is well accepted
Most of rich men are highly indebted.

But when you will realise its effect
Immediately say good bye to debt.
Pay heavy interest on the principals,
Receive agent’s debt collection calls.
In debt your mental peace is lost,
Miss planning and opportunity cost.
Your mind always loaded with tension
How to clear loan? Asking the question
Go for another loan or curtails expense
How fast repay and get out of the mess
Major earning is lost in paying interest
I feel, remaining debt free is the best.

The Bachelor's Soliloquy

To wed, or not to wed; that is the question;
Whether 'tis nobler in the mind to suffer
The bills and house rent of a wedded fortune,
Or to say "nit" when she proposes,
And by declining cut her. To wed; to smoke
No more; And have a wife at home to mend
The holes in socks and shirts
And underwear and so forth. 'Tis a consummation
Devoutly to be wished. To wed for life;
To wed; perchance to fight; ay, there's the rub;
For in that married life what fights may come,
When we have honeymooning ceased
Must give us pause; there's the respect
That makes the joy of single life.
For who would bear her mother's scornful tongue,
Canned goods for tea, the dying furnace fire;
The pangs of sleepless nights when baby cries;
The pain of barking shins upon a chair and
Closing waists that button down the back,
When he himself might all these troubles shirk
With a bare refusal? Who would bundles bear,
And grunt and sweat under a shopping load?
Who would samples match; buy rats for hair,
Cart cheese and crackers home to serve at night
For lunch to feed your friends; play pedro
After tea; sing rag time songs, amusing
Friendly neighbors. Buy garden tools
To lend unto the same. Stay home at nights
In smoking coat and slippers and slink to bed
At ten o'clock to save the light bills?
Thus duty does make cowards of us all,
And thus the native hue of matrimony
Is sicklied o'er with the pale cast of chores;
And thus the gloss of marriage fades away,
And loses its attraction.

Chatter Chief Of Staff Application 1331 After William Shakespeare Hamlet's Soliloquy

To verse, or role reverse, that's in the question,
when writer's block may cause some indigestion -
[with contests tougher then the going's rougher] -
Whether ‘tis nobler in the mind to suffer
the strings and sorrows of outrageous scribblers,
the binges of obsessional dribblers,
the noisy cutters' red, black, unread bubbles:
or to take arms against such teething troubles
and by opposing, end them? Still keep one's cool,
guide, bona fide, and gladly suffer fools?

There's surely something wrong in A.P. rules
when talent's topsy-turvy turned by ghouls,
when terms of reference ability are not retained.
Here trophy credibility must be regained.
For here are pressing claims and urgent needs,
though many try, scarce one percent succeeds -
and one percent of these may save their soul
as contest pressures take their toll
of high ideals, oft leaving empty shell
and little else as epitaph, - ah well!

Fame, fickle, tithes her victims. Writers' knell
tolls far more frequently than curtain bell.
Thus those who would their sacred dream preserve,
who from rhyme's chiming path would never swerve,
must make much sacrifice. To serve, - observe,
the scene, and by to serve we mean to fend -
(or else to disillusion most descend) -
the heartburn and the thousand natural shocks
rejection's heir to when rejection knocks.
Are value judgements devoutly to be wished
when versatility by contest rigging's dished?

Our scribes just fate deserve. To serve, observe
the entry they reserve too often stands
ignored, spinsterlike longing for unknown hands,
the shining silver, gold, bronze thus reject
the restless queue, as order ready-pecked,
full of sound and fury points a clue
shows some exchange their trophies. Much ado
'bout nothing scribblers screeding sticky caps
with spelling errors knitting self-writ traps...

To write, page lighting wait. Oh what a weight -
especially where some poetry postdate!
A.P. needs change so fairly dreams may come
when shuffled off the uniform, brain numb,
to often dumb, eraser rubs. Where's the respect?
Aspirant writers though they introspect
earn due reward to compensate long hours,
so unacknowledged, taxing all their powers.
expending energy for scant applause
as others benefit at their expense,
to few the points, to most so little sense.

For who would bear these whips and scorns for long,
envy contumely, commentator's wrong,
the pangs of wasted lines, free-versed, despised, -
(the impudence where, uninvited, eyed
the worthless stranger who advances tried,
who may not be so easily denied
in public places audience - we've cried!) -
Waste in untasted verse, those long delays,
days melting into nights, nights into days,
the insolence of judges, the sharp spurns
that patient merit from the unworthy takes.
When writer might some true quietus make
with rare home cooking? Who would fardels bear,
insults A.P., with little time to spare,
to grunt and sweat under a wordy life
with strife at work, A.P., through envy, - strife!
But that the dread of nothing else to do,
lest dreams sound hollow, isolation too,
or kids to mind, rent find and clothing too, -
threats unemployment act upon morale.
‘Tis true, and all too often ça fait mal!

The options open often puzzle will,
and make us rather bear those ills we have
than fly to others that we know not of.
Thus conscience does make cowards of us all,
for few will answer truly to life's call.
Thus the native hue of resolution
is sicklied over with pale cast of thought
losing all instinctive love of writing!

Should one desire to act upon dire fate,
ambitions fire! React! No longer wait!
then the principles inspire to undertake
cooperation by your side, correct mistake
create a pool of judges early, late,
who either added are to contests' weight
or offer critiques daily of the fate
doled out to worthy writers ill displaced
by favorites applauseless trophy placed.

The Chatterer should Mission Statement draft
to standards raise as current wordy draught
blows best away - we witness with disgust
both fore and aft enthusiasms bust
by mini groups with macro pains to spill
on others where no praise may ever fill
the offline void some here avoid with just
a minimum of contact, feathers fussed.

On Mission Statement we could dwell awhile,
with workshops, shining sense and grooming style,
but who can guarantee attention span
with four thoughts max, as forethought many ban?
One could continue till the cows come home
to roost, to working shed, led docile in the gloam,
conclusion's called for here so I perceive
with Chatterer to booster A.P. heave
sigh of relief as quality improves,
emotions interplay - which feeling moves -
ambition principled and well perceived
to Karma adds Divine as verse we leave.

Hamlet's Soliloquy
To be, or not to be: that is the question:
Whether 'tis nobler in mind to suffer
The slings and arrows of outrageous fortune,
Or to take arms against a sea of troubles,
And by opposing end them.
To die: to sleep;
No more; and by a sleep to say we end
The heart-ache, and the thousand natural shocks
That flesh is heir to.
'Tis a consumation Devoutly to be wish'd.
To die, to sleep;
To Sleep? Perchance to dream! aye there's the rub;
For in that sleep of death what dreams may come,
When we have shuffled off this mortal coil,
Must give us pause: there's the respect
That makes calamity of such long life;
For who would bear the whips and scorns of time,
The oppressor's wrong, the proud man's contumely,
The pang's of depised love, the law's delay,
The insolence of office, and the spurns
That patient merit of the unworthy takes,
When he himself might his quietus make
With a bare bodkin? who would fardels bear,
To grunt and sweat under a weary life,
But that the dread of something after death,
The undiscovered country from whose bourn
No traveler returns, puzzles the will,
And makes us rather bear those ills we have
Than fly to others that we know not of?
Thus conscience does make cowards of us all,
And thus the native hue of resolution
Is sicklied o'er with the pale cast of thought,
And enterprises of great pitch and moment
With this regard their currents turn awry
And lose the name of action.

Explain

Explain...
If one with 'good' credit,
Is still paying on debts.
Why is one without any debts at all,
Considered a credit risk?
Or can not achieve a credit rating!
And the one with debts...
Is pursued to go even further in it?
Or at best,
Has a low credit standing!
BUT...
Can achieve even 'more' credit,
IF debts are kept at a minimal amount!
Explain...
The one who can not make a bill payment at all,
Is sought to make 'arrangements'!
And 'this' is a way of life that's loved?

Leaving those unemployed who lose benefits,
To lower unemployment statistics...
Even though they can not find jobs!
And those hopping the fence illegally,
Without documentation
No vested interest.
No signs of reading, writing, speaking
OR understanding the language...
Are offered retirement packages,
WITH health coverage!

And they wonder 'why' wild animals
Are leaving the forest in droves!
Many are seen escorting their young,
To soften the hardest of hearts!
'Look...
There's a wolf attacking our pet dog,
In the backyard!
But...
Aren't those eyes just adorable? '

Explain!

The Debt

This is the debt I pay
Just for one riotous day,
Years of regret and grief,
Sorrow without relief.
Pay it I will to the end --
Until the grave, my friend,
Gives me a true release --
Gives me the clasp of peace.
Slight was the thing I bought,
Small was the debt I thought,
Poor was the loan at best --
God! but the interest!

Life in Paradise: 21st Century Style

2000-2001
The “dot com” bubble bursts
Recession
9/11/2001
America attacked!
Our way of life is threatened
Fear sets in
Financial institutions vulnerable!
Economy in a nose dive
What to do?
Everybody fly the flag from your home.
Save housing - Save the economy!
First, everybody needs a home.
The madness begins.
2002-2003
Create laws to increase minority homeownership
California gives birth to the ARMs* and NINJA** loans
Accounting irregularities at Fannie Mae (FNMA) & Freddie Mac (FDMAC) ***
Doors open for Wall Street to invest in Main Street
Without those pesky government regulations
Homeownership increases

...“After all ever since the Great Depression, home values have ALWAYS gone up
And everybody pays their mortgage ”…

WARNING! WARNING! DANGER! DANGER!

AREN”T HOME PRICES INCREASING FASTER THAN INCOME?

…...“No problem; it only takes a little creative mortgage financing and Wall St loves those high yielding mortgages…..
HIGHER RISK - HIGHER YIELD!
Pension funds love high yield.
Buy more and more....
…...“After all ever since the Great Depression, home values have ALWAYS gone up
And everybody pays their mortgage ”…..

WARNING! WARNING! DANGER! DANGER!

AREN”T PENSION FUNDS ONLY ALLOWED TO BUY AAA RATED INVESTMENTS?

...“Problem solved...banks pay the salaries at the Rating Agencies and Ratings Agencies in turn lower the standards to obtain a AAA rating”...

WARNING! WARNING! DANGER! DANGER!

WHO’S WATCHING THE “HEN HOUSE” WHO’S MINDING THE STORE?

...“Who cares?
Everyone is happy
Millions of new jobs created
Millions of new homeowners
Millions of dollars for bankers
Millions of dollars for Wall St
And everyone owns a home on Main St
Money is flowing
Everyone wins! ”…

WARNING! WARNING! DANGER! DANGER!

AREN”T HOMES BECOMING LESS AFFORDABLE?

2004 -2005
...“Pressure Government to create more creative loans and even lower down payments with even higher yields and make more bucks”…

A new mortgage is born, Euphemism: THE PAY OPTION NEGATIVE AM ARM Loan

...Easy to sell… You chose your own payment! You chose your interest rate! ...

WILL WALL ST BUY THESE LOANS?

….“You bet! Wall St loves these high yield mortgages. They package these loans as CDOs***** and sell them to Pension Funds, Municipalities, Foreign Governments etc
Spread the risk - Harvest the yield! …

Now Fannie Mae & Freddie Mac want back in on the action

...“After all ever since the Great Depression, home values have ALWAYS gone up
And everybody pays their mortgage ”
Everyone wins! …

The country is now infected with AFLUENZA

...“We need even more mortgages. Pressure Government to lower credit qualifications, raise borrowing limits, allow less equity positions. Let homeowners use their homes as ATMs+++”...

WARNING! WARNING! DANGER! DANGER!

WHERE IS THE SEC? WHERE IS THE FED? *****

...“Banks will police themselves” says the SEC
“Homeownership is up.
The Standard of Living is up
It is good” says the Fed...
...“After all ever since the Great Depression, home values have ALWAYS gone up
And everybody pays their mortgage ”...

CAN THIS LAST? WON”T HOMES PRICES HAVE TO COME DOWN OR INCOMES GO UP? .

2006 – 2007
Prices too high.
Average home unaffordable
Fewer home buyers.
Prices sinking
ARM’s resetting
Sub prime borrowers defaulting
Ninja loans failing.
Banks taking in less
Fewer dollars to lend
Layoffs beginning
Homes over-mortgaged
Appraising for much less
Equity gone
No equity - No sale

The downward spiral begins
Existing incomes static
Mortgage payments climbing
Homes losing value
Appraising lower
Jobs being lost
Unemployment rising
Banks failing
Wall St collapsing
Investment yields disappearing.
No way out!

Crippled by Knowledge

The wayward way of thinking has always been: “Son, I want you to go to college, graduate with a degree so you will have the education to secure a well-paying job. You know back in my day, I was able to go to college, so I want to make sure you have every opportunity to! ”

The inevitable downfall: The rise in college tuition, along with the decrease in federal aid for working middle class families’, students and their parents are placed under enormous pressure in paying back mass amounts of student loan debt.

The vicious cycles remains: Parents could not afford college for themselves ' Parents want better for their kids ' Parents struggle daily and sacrifice their home, their livelihood to ensure their child will have the opportunity at a college education ' Casting a dark cloud over the excitement of their child’s graduation - Four years in a state school and one bachelors degree later ' Parents are faced with a $500 a month student loan payment ' Their son will begin paying on his portion of the loan next month.

The pleasures in being a working middle class family in today’s society. Parents who in the course of hard work and determination established careers with little to no higher education, providing and making the ends meet. Nevertheless, no tuition grants or federal aid for their hopeful first generation college student. “Son, we make too much money for you to qualify for grants. I know who would think a daily struggle is equivalent to making too much money. It is simply loans for us, and I'm not sure we can afford the $568 a month payment. I guess we will manage like we always have. I sure didn't foresee this worry and grief when I just wanted better for you.'

His son, an elementary school teacher in a low-socioeconomic urban school district has hopes that each and every child in his classroom will have the opportunity to pursue higher education. Thoughts of his monthly struggle on a state teacher’s salary to make ends meet and pay back his student loans, escape him every time he walks into the classroom full of young minds craving to learn.

The children we raise and educate today are the minds that will drive our society into the 21-century. Must you realize you are sacrificing the well-being our nation and placing the future of our society in jeopardy to only have history repeat itself. Senators, congressmen, lawyers and lobbyists almost certainly would not have had the opportunity to be where they are now without the support and devotion of their underpaid and overworked school teachers. Everyday leaders such as school teachers and their hard working families do not deserve the crippling burden of outrageous monthly student loan payments when the end goal is to simply further their education in order to influence and guide the society that will lead our nation’s future.

If educators take a primary role in being the driving force behind a society of accountable well-informed people; I can only help to wonder if serving in our nation’s military can pay back student loans, why can’t serving in our nation’s classrooms pay back student loans.

Remembering Grandpa

grandpa was strict
i remember
for a Red Cross Donation
that i asked from him
and which he considers
as my debt
he did not forget
to remind me and
thus collect

i was then 12 and he
was 60
i was disappointed but
he did not mind
a debt is a debt and must
be paid

the years may have buried
him for good
but the memory of a debt
paid still lingers
the numbers are clear
as always
some words may have faded
but the feeling
sticks like a scar
in my face....

Life For Rent

I haven't ever really found a place that I call home
I never stick around quite long enough to make it
I apologize that once again I'm not in love
But it's not as if I mind
that your heart ain't exactly breaking
It's just a thought, only a thought
But if my life is for rent and I don't learn to buy
Well I deserve nothing more than I get
Cos nothing I have is truly mine
I've always thought
that I would love to live by the sea
To travel the world alone
and live more simply
I have no idea what's happened to that dream
As there's really nothing left here to stop me
It's just a thought, only a thought
But if my life is for rent and I don't learn to buy
Well I deserve nothing more than I get
Cos nothing I have is truly mine
But if my life is for rent and I don't learn to buy
Well I deserve nothing more than I get
Cos nothing I have is truly mine
While my heart is a shield and I won't let it down
While I am so afraid to fail so I won't even try
Well how can I say I'm alive
But if my life is for rent and I don't learn to buy
Well I deserve nothing more than I get
Cos nothing I have is truly mine
But if my life is for rent and I don't learn to buy
Well I deserve nothing more than I get
Cos nothing I have is truly mine
Coz nothing I have is truly mine,
Coz nothing I have is truly mine,
Coz nothing I have is truly mine.

Call It A Loan

In the morning when I closed my eyes
You were sleeping in paradise
And while the room was growing light
I was holding still with all my might
Oh--what if its true
...what my heart says
Oh--whatll I do
What if this feeling becomes hard to part with
You were meant to play your part
In the design of a desperate heart
And while you gave your love to me
I was betting I was getting it free
Oh-- if Id only known
...what your heart cost
Oh-- can we call it a loan
And a debt that I owe
On a bet that I lost
In the evening when you see my eyes
Looking back at you, no disguise
Im not sure who you think youll see
Im just hoping youll still know that its me
Oh-- what if its true
...better ask the man inside
Oh, oh-- there seem to be two
One steals the love, and the other one hides.
Yeah-- can we call it a loan
Till Im paid in full for the seeds Ive sown
Yeah-- can we say that Ive grown
In someway that we may have yet to be shown
Oh-- if Id only known
...what your heart cost
Oh-- can we call it a loan
And a debt that I owe
On a bet that I lost

Over Now

Good night...
Yeah, its over now, but I can breathe somehow
When its all worn out, Id rather go without
You know its been on my mind
Could you stand right there
Look me straight in the eye and say
That its over now
We pay our debt sometime
Well its over now, yet I can see somehow
When its all gone wrong, its hard to be so strong
You know its been on my mind
Could you stand right there
Look me straight in the eye and say
That its over now
We pay our debt sometime
Yeah, we pay our debt sometime
We pay our debt sometime
Yeah, we pay our debt sometime
Guess its over now, I seem alive somehow
When its out of sight, just wait and do your time
You know its been on my mind
Could I stand right here
Look myself in the eye and say
That its over now
We pay our debt sometime
Yeah, we pay our debt sometime
We pay our debt sometime
Yeah, we pay our debt sometime

Losing Patience

If one is the owner,
Of another's debt.
And that other one's life,
Has been enhanced by loans and credit,
Kept.
Who is more indebted?
The one who's lifestyle has been fed,
On the achievement of good credit ratings?
Or the one quietly...
Losing patience instead?

If one is the owner of another's debt.
And one of the two brags about a greatness kept.
While the other has sat patiently...
Listening to the boasting,
Of one exposing a pumped up chest!
Which one do you think eventually...
Will extend an upper hand?
And which one will admittedly,
Will express regret and on nothing to stand.
On which can be declared is theirs to own?
Not if one is accustomed to living indebted,
On borrowed finances another loans.
Which one do you 'think' will be left to moan?

More Than We Are

Came home singing, Sorrento, you said Here
comes Maria Von Trapp - little knowing that I
was being Leo Buscaglia, happy in knowing
about the Necrotelicomnicon* offering a Door
out of this World

I need these dreams because I had to check a
lease contract for my Calvinist colleague who
immediately queried every change I made – I
only did it because I am being paid; it has no
meaning to me

Whether the rental agreement stipulates lease
or rent or bank savings rates or bank rates for
savings; who cares, irrelevant – if she prefers
her own version I am happy to concur – why
ask me in the first place

She ought to know me by now, sounds are
important, not their dictionary meaning, the
sound IS the feeling, keep your definitions,
I will keep on singing, no need to let one
interfere with the other

The most important thing is to determine
whether I am Madame Butterfly, Carmen
or Christine; which role can I sing, how
far can we go, can we love like Leo
Buscaglia, can we

understand the difference between being
who we are - take up our own space or
try to be more than we are…

As Fickle as Fate

Life is a gamble but you've won your bet,
She's the sweetest girl that you've ever met,
You've paid all your bills and your out of debt
And this is as good as it's gonna get!

What will it be like in twenty years?
Will your mother be there to dry your tears?
Your woman has left you and you're in arrears
And you can't find the answer in a thousand beers!

You thought that you'd really got it made,
You felt so happy when you'd been laid,
But luck has run out for you, I'm afraid,
And the King of the Castle has been betrayed!

Third Rate Romance

Announcer: Hello my friends, J.D, and we're back to more Alan Jackson live from Nashville.
Alan: We're going to put a little more flovor on this one.
Sitting at a tiny table in a ritzy restaurant
She was staring at her coffee cup
He was trying to keep his courage up by buying booze
The talk was small when they talked at all
They both knew what they wanted
There was no need to talk about it
They were old enough to know about it, to keep it loose.
I never really did this kinda thing before, have you?
Third rate romance, low rent rendezvous.
--- Instrumental with ad libs. ---
They left the bar, and got in his car, and they drove away
He went to the Family Inn
She didn't even have to pretend she didn't know what for
He went to the desk, and made his request while she waited outside
He came back with the key
She said "Give it to me and I'll unlock the door."
She kept sayin', "I've never really done this kind of thing before, have you?"
Third rate romance, low rent rendezvous.
And he said, "Yes I have, but only a time or two."
Third rate romance, low rent rendezvous.
Third rate romance, low rent rendezvous.
Yeah, talk about a third rate romance, low rent rendezvous...

Smile

regrets are my bedfellows
I'm feeling so alone
I've messed up my life pallette
now it's colored up with woes
just two simple words
have changed me to no end
just two simple words
have changed me to no end
just to simple words
to quote you
only friends
**I miss your smile
when I'm sleeping all alone
I'm in our house
and your not ever home
changed residence
stopped paying out the rent
and girl I miss your smile
When I drive by your house
it makes me want to cry
each time I see your face
it makes me want to die
so why do I sit back
and look at picture books of you
I guess I'm just messed up
and that's all I can do

Coincidence Or Consequence

You have a job but you can't afford the rent
Why is life always just dollars and cents?
If you can't get a job, you can't get a home
Vicious cycle spawns and turns your soul to bone
Kill, kill, die, die, death, death, suicide
Why do you think those rates are so high?
Do you think its just a coincidence that the black male
Is the highest statistic trapped on welfare
Landlord system, life for rent
Capitalism doesn't make any sense
Don't join the system, its suicide!
Coincidence or consequence, YOU DECIDE!
WELFARE IS WARFARE
