There was a strange man from Kildare
Who, annoyed because people would stare,
Walked up the town
With his hat upside down
And pretended that he didn't care.

All Over Town
(myles goodwyn)
Published by northern goody two tunes, ltd./capac - ascap
Someone said you was, runnin round
Like you owned the world
Its no secret, youre the talk of the town
You know, the best of the girls
Thats right, and now you
Walked right out of my heart
You know its all over town
I said you walked walked, right right, out of my heart
You know its all over town
Now its all over
Youre so neat, youre so cute, youre so fine
You know that everybody wants some action
They see you comin and they act like its cool
Because they know that somethins happenin
Thats right, because you
Walked right out of my heart
And now its all over town
I said you walked walked, right right, out of my heart
You know the words goin round
Now its all over, now its all over
I dont care (he dont care)
I dont care
I dont care care what they say about us anymore
I dont care what they wanna do
Baby all my heart is for you
No matter what happens
Theres no reason why we still cant be friends
You know we all need someone we can talk to
No matter what they say, we both know Im right
After all weve been through
And now you walked right out of my heart
You know its all over town
I said you walked (walked), right (right), out of my heart
You know the words goin round
Now its all over
I said you walked, right out of my heart
I said you walked (walked), right (right), out of my heart
You walked right out of my heart
And now its all over town

Crazy Tradesmen Rhymes No5
I once knew a drummer in the music trade
Famous for the strange
Set of drums that he played;
They were made out of rubber
And between you and me
His rolls were tremendous
And as easy as could be.

A Poet
He — or was it she?
was a child who said little
but walked, endlessly, just looking
or stood still for minutes, hours,
and became what they looked at
was from a large family
but still people said, you’re an only child aren’t you
was it seems very happy in themself
but no-one asked, so never said
kept themself to themself, which annoyed
other children, who bullied them
and then were even more annoyed
when they didn’t play the victim
failed examinations and yet
was always wrapt up in a book
occasionally did things like cutting themselves
and was told off but never questioned usefully
wrote poems secretly but was unconcerned
whether people read them or not
was good to be with as long as you
didn’t expect anything of them
was secretly loved by some
who never liked to say so
because what they loved somehow
didn’t have a name
years later, some of them read the poems
and knew what they had loved

Death With Dignity Please Sept 21st,2012
Death with dignity please Sept 21st,2012
By
James Bredin
I'm going to die but I don't know when, where, how or why,
And you are too; so we should all prepare to say goodbye,
Therefore it would be nice to arrange this whole dying affair,
Have legal death with dignity though some don't seem to care.
Some religious types and politicians are totally opposed,
Though it's a freedom of choice thing and not government imposed,
I realize of course that this in itself is not a nice subject,
And neither is dying but we can't avoid it or reject.
Nowadays it's a subject hidden in the background somewhere,
Seldom mentioned in our papers so we can't compare in despair,
Some people have gone to Switzerland where it's allowed and legal,
Where they don't need five lawyers to die and a paralegal.

On The Street Where You Live
(alan lerner, frederick loewe)
I have often walked
Down the street before,
But the pavement always
Stayed beneath my feet before.
All at once am i
Several stories high,
Knowing Im on the street where you live.
Are there lilac trees
In the heart of town?
Can you hear a lark in any other part of town?
Does enchantment pour
Out of every door?
No, its just on the street where you live.
And oh, the towering feeling
Just to know somehow you are near
The overpowering feeling
That any second you may suddenly appear.
People stop and stare
They dont bother me,
For theres no where else on earth
That I would rather be.
Let the time go by,
I wont care if i
Can be here on the street where you live.
~interlude~
People stop and stare
They dont bother me,
For theres no where else on earth
That I would rather be.
Let the time go by
I wont care if i
Can be here on the street where you live,
Let me be on the street where you live.

STEPHEN Sept 14th,2012
By
James Bredin
Prime Minister Stephen Harper, please bring about some change,
Or you might be remembered like Joe Clark and why is that strange?
Because like him, the system remains more or less the same,
Counting lots of appointees from secret lists with added names.
So Stephen, I know, you're up against it but please, at least try,
Or without much dignity, many of us will get sick and die,
And binding referendums, like the Swiss, would be great,
Set-date elections would be good too and no need for a great debate.
And while you're at it, completely cancel the parole board,
They are setting murderers and others free who have scored,
Okay, we need a new Constitution to get these changes,
Ask our friends, who, how, when for these changed arrangements.

When Margaret Comes To Town
When you were a kid you recieved no good instruction
And your mother was never nowhere to be found
This lies were yelled and the truth was seldom spoken
Thats what you get when margaret comes to town
She likes to keep things upside down
When margaret comes to town
When your thoughts are twisted and distorted
And your children are forced to choose sides and lie down
And the kepper is screaming drunk running around naked
Its for your pleasure when margaret comes to town
She likes to keep things upside down
When margaret comes to town
Oh, but those who believe in her
They cut off their noses to spite their faces
Leaving you the little one scared and lonely
Who really cares about you now
So if you see her coming man youd bettertake cover
She stays down at the dark end of a frown
And just like the sirens that are so sweet singing
Its better just to leave when margaret comes to town
When margaret comes to town
She likes to keep things upside down
When margaret comes to town
She likes to keep things upside down
When margaret comes to town

Broremann The Boy
The boy was eight years old and pretended to have one leg
shorter than the other, by walking with one foot in the gutter
and the other foot on the pavement. He tried to run that way
but it was difficult lost his balance and fell. A strange boy
often alone dreaming about what to do, he had told his mother
he wanted to be an actor and play many roles and be everything
at once. Either that or to an opera singer be, famous, traveling
around the world. His mother didn´t think much of his plans and
anyway this was his last day in this town tomorrow he was being
sent to farm, that had cows, horses, and sheep. He had no say in
the matter his mother was sick and had to go to a sanatorium
He didn´t mind it so much liked horses and could be a cowboy but
he had to go to school to and the children was sure to mob him for
talking city like. Down at the docks a big ship was birthing she came
all the way from Conakry in Africa. The boy decided to be a sailor,
and walked home to tell his mother.
Broremann is best translated as “little brother”

Referendums Sept 8th,2012
REFERENDUMS Sept 8th,2012
By
James Bredin
Binding referendums are the flashpoint of future change,
Why are they so difficult to arrange and extremely strange?
Why do our appointees and politicians just smile and walk away?
Why are media moguls so careful in what they write and say?
Binding referendums and death with dignity are banned,
Why are these, never even whispered by the higher command?
It's a graphic demonstration that our democracy is an illusion,
Or is it that our aristocrats are in collusion?
Because change is also forbidden by the higher ups,
They want no interruptions to their lifestyles deluxe,
And binding referendums could give power to the crowds,
This might change things for those who live in the clouds.
