Unprotected species

The morning mist lifts and reveals.
A scattered colony of seals
Their breeding place beside the sea
protected by the enemy.

The fishermen who used to kill
and if allowed would do so still.
They do not dare to harm a seal
the penalties are all too real

The fisher men bitterly complain
the seals are free to fish again.
Unhampered by the silly rules
complied by bureaucratic fools.

The fisherman can’t understand
why they are bound by this command.
But not the seals apparently
They just ignore bureaucracy.

Seals are creatures of the sea
and as intended they are free
But the fishermen are not
That’s why they all bewail their lot.

A Visit TO A Seal Colony(Villanelle)

The Villanelle is:
1.metered, primarily iambic pentameter.
2.written in a total of 19 lines, made up of 5 tercets and ending with a quatrain.
3.L1 and L3 of the first stanza, alternate as the refrain in the following tercets.

It was indeed a grand picnic event
Tho' hard by wheels in rains on long rough road
Seaward to see the seals our long intent

Up blocked cut crossed in flown spillways paths wet
Did not get back but all enjoyed pursued
It was indeed a grand picnic event

Sun light sinking so rushed and reached our spot
Oh God! we saw nature's settings-fulfilled
Seaward to see the seals our long intent

Ah, pups and moms and dads so brown so great
And seals clumping snoozing along accrued
It was indeed a grand picnic event

Furry some rocked risky some raged stepped out
When saw a seal in haste closer-fulfilled
Seaward to see the seals our long intent

Pictures, photos bagful no need to get
For those scenic great seals our hearts well stored
It was indeed a grand picnic event
Seaward to see the seals our long intent

From Gordon’s bay harbour

From Gordon’s bay harbour
we took a boat
along the coast
of False Bay
and your fingers
knotted through mine
while we sailed
into the ocean.

The launch went up and down
the waves of a calm sea
although a light breeze
was blowing, throwing
drops of spray
into our faces.

Your cheeks were glowing
and your eyes
had the look of adventure
and anticipation
and we took several photographs
of the scenic mountains,
the beaches and shore.

We stopped sailing
at a island of rock
protruding from the waves
that was covered with seals,
which they called Cape sea lions.

The stench of seal dung
and rotting fish
hang heavy in the air
and the boat was rolling to and fro
as well as up and down
and you and some
of the other passengers
got really seasick
and very nauseous.

I took some more photos
trying to ignore the stench
and photographed seals,
waves braking over the rocks,
and everything
but the sea around us.

Those seals had their eyes open
unlike us
for predators like sharks
and shrieking as a saw
going through a board
while more got on those rocks
and sharks started to circle
that island and the boat

and we also felt
like something in the food chain
and were relieved
when the boat’s engine
started again
at the first try.

The Seal Colony

On leaving Inchcolm Island, on the rocks,
We spotted a large colony of seals.
The boat drifted in to take a closer look.
The noisy engine, the skipper killed.

It really was an amazing sight.
I'd never seen seals in the wild before.
Seeing them there with my own two eyes,
Left me feeling excited and in total awe.

Some were moving clumsily about.
Some were resting, 'bottling', in the sea.
Some were lying along their young pups.
It was wonderful to see them wild and free.

We got as close as we dared,
Without causing them any upset.
From where we were, they seemed content,
As we weren't posing them any threat.

We all got our cameras out,
And for many minutes were clicking away.
I didn't want to take my eyes off of them.
I could have stayed watching them all day.

It was so peaceful and tranquil there,
Just watching them lazing and playing in the sun.
But all too soon, the boat reversed away,
And our precious encounter was over and done.

Divinely Superfluous Beauty

The storm-dances of gulls, the barking game of seals,
Over and under the ocean…
Divinely superfluous beauty
Rules the games, presides over destinies, makes trees grow
And hills tower, waves fall.
The incredible beauty of joy
Stars with fire the joining of lips, O let our loves too
Be joined, there is not a maiden
Burns and thirsts for love
More than my blood for you, by the shore of seals while the wings
Weave like a web in the air
Divinely superfluous beauty.

An Old Fisher In The Green

A man, this man, alone in the green,
a little, tiny sand, a speck in the sea.
He used to be a torrent, a veritable blizzard,
ready to weather the storms, this strong fisher.

Then these little fish, to him flocked,
and his heart gave in, collapsed in him, and gave him quite a start.
He took the fish and laid it out, gave it his breath,
and as it looked, its eyes glowed hot, and took from him the rest.

Then it became a fisherman, but one that knew its gift,
it indeed was a fisherman who helped its once-known kin,
what a wondrous man this fish did make, reveling in this skin,
it indeed was a better fisherman who helped its once-known kin.

And so this old fisherman, living on his last breath,
lived only to help the fish he helped, until his last, his death.
His last was given to a fish he deemed demure, a wriggling sickly thing,
he gave it his last, he did, he did, though it remained a fish.

He gave his all, he did, he did, till this fish became enlarged,
yet still not a man did it make, but instead became in charge,
a shark it made, it did, it did, and it hounded out,
till once again, it did, it hid, became the rounder out.

The fishermen were thrown on their guards, this shark was so enlarged,
till all was dust upon the sea, and the old man was set free.

The vision just though may it be,
became but dust upon the sea
till all was dust to dust upon the sea,
and the old man, weak, was at last set free.

Bible in Poetry: Revelation 5

The Scroll and the Lamb:

1To His right hand, I saw a scroll,
With writing on both sides of it,
And sealed with seven seals as well.
2A mighty angel said aloud,
'Who is the worthy one to break
The seals and open scroll, Tell me? '
3But none in heaven or on earth
Or under earth could open scroll
Or look inside it anyway.
4I wept because no one was found
Who was worthy to open it.
5Then one of the elders said to me,
'Don’t weep! The Lion of the Judah tribe,
The Root of David has triumphed.
He will open the scroll and seals.'
6 I saw a Lamb that appeared slain,
And standing in the throne’s center,
Encircled by creatures, elders.
He had horns seven horns and like eyes,
Which are God’s seven big spirits
That are sent out into the earth.
7He took the scroll from his right hand.
8And when he had taken it thus,
The living creatures four fell down
Before the Lamb with the elders.
Each one possessed a harp with it,
And held gold bowls filled with incense,
Which are the prayers of the saints.
9And they sang a new song:
'Worthy are you to take the scroll
And open its seals,
Because you’re slain,
And with your blood,
You purchased men for God,
From every tribe and language,
And people and nation.”
10You’ve made them to be a kingdom,
And priests to serve our Lord and God,
And they will reign upon the earth.'
11And then, I looked and heard the voice
Of many angels, in thousands
Upon thousands in their numbers,
And ten thousand times, ten thousand,
They encircled the splendid throne,
And living creatures and the elders.
12In a loud voice they sang:

'O worthy is the Lamb, who’s slain,
To receive pow’r, wealth, wisdom, strength
And honor, glory and all praise! '

13 And then I heard every creature,
In heaven, earth and in the sea,
And all that is in them, singing:
'To Him who sits upon the throne
And to the Lamb, be praise, honor
Glory and power, forever! '
14The living creatures said, 'Amen, '
While elders fell down, worshiped Him.

The Tale Of Meenkumar

Long long ago
Man used to live on the bank of the ocean
There were many lakes and rivers surrounding the ocean
The banks of the rivers and lakes were full of trees
Many forests were there
Those were deep forests
In the forests there were many wild animals
Man lived on the bank of the ocean
Because of the danger of the wild animals
Except farmers, fishermen, craftspeople abode there
Fishermen knew fishes were the saviors of their life
So they didn't catch fish every time
They didn't catch fish unless it was necessary
They didn't kill the fry and not even the pregnant fish
There was the Meen kingdom in the oceans
What is Meen?
It is a kind of fish
They used to rule the kingdom of the oceans
One day, one Meen prince came out of the palace because of forgetfulness of mind
He was roaming and came at a place full of mosses and rocks
There were many big and small fishes
One big Salmon fish was delighted to see the beauty of the Meen prince
He felt greed to eat him
Meen prince escaped when he saw the salmon swimming towards him
Meen prince hid himself under the rocks
Salmon knew that Meen cannot stay for a long time there
When he would come, he would catch him and eat
It would be a wonderful dinner for him
Meen prince passed the night by hiding under the rocky place
Early in the morning, fishermen came to catch fish
Meen prince saw a child fisherman
He requested him to save his life
Finally the fishermen encircled the Salmon fish and caught it
Meen thanked the child fisherman and luckily returned to the palace
This was the tale of Meenkumar....

Killer Whales

Come my friends give an ear to this tale

It's all about the ocean and the big black whales

They are humongous, and hardly seen

Unless you are submerged in a submarine

Their home is the ocean,

They swim to the depths

And can easily escape the fishermen nets

In books you must have read their tales,

They are sea monsters called Killer Whales

They use echolocation to communicate and hunt

At times when the come up, you can watch their stunts

They are black with a few spots of white

And swim the ocean at the speed of light

The feast on marine mammals, fish and seals

That makes for them a wonderful meal

Each whale weights six tons or more

And are mostly found on the ocean floor

The enjoy the ocean without any fear

The King of the seas, thrust up like a spear.

Seals Captured No Killed Osama Bin Laden?

If you go down to Virginia Beach your sure of a big surprise
navy seals are playing videos of shooting unarmed Bin Ladin?
USA proudly cheering shooting this 53 year old unarmed man
before his wife's eyes as peering out of his bedroom window?

the best America has got could not capture an unarmed old man
could not capture a woman without shooting her first in the leg?
yes navy seals cannot capture one married couple is a surprise
they claimed a Jihad hero used his wife as a shield told gross lies?

as Obama said they located then killed on his watch by his orders
Bin Laden political assassination aim to seal Obama's reelection?
Bin Laden's body not buried within 24 hours dumped in the sea
no photographic or DNA evidence of Bin Laden's death released?

Operation Neptune Spear the elite seal team six kill operation
under the control of the Central Intelligence Agency equipped;
with military assault rifles with attached silencer suppressors
body armor night-vision goggles and handguns plays assassins;

launch heroic mission 6 helicopters 79 Commandos 1 war dog
attacks a house with 22 civilians including their wives children?
kills 5 wounds 3 manages to captive 17 women children alive
but oh the tactical errors losing a Black Hawk stealth helicopter?

final score 1 civilian killed was actually armed the woman killed?
was not armed the seals all fast-roped to the ground then ran up
three flights of stairs to get Bin Ladin none jumped onto the roof?
USA 10 year funded Mujahideen hero against the Soviets is alive?

The White Seal

Oh! hush thee, my baby, the night is behind us,
And black are the waters that sparkled so green.
The moon, o'er the combers, looks downward to find us
At rest in the hollows that rustle between.
Where billow meets billow, there soft be thy pillow;
Ah, weary wee flipperling, curl at thy ease!
The storm shall not wake thee, nor shark overtake thee,
Asleep in the arms of the slow-swinging seas.

You mustn't swim till you're six weeks old,
Or your head will be sunk by your heels;
And summer gales and Killer Whales
Are bad for baby seals.
Are bad for baby seals, dear rat,
As bad as bad can be.
But splash and grow strong,
And you can't be wrong,
Child of the Open Sea!

The Way And The Goal

If you somehow find or see the way,
be firm in your resolve come what may.
The way for you is that which reveals
Your real nature within hidden seals;
being those which we have all constructed,
over the years left with, now are obstructed.

To say only that whatever did happen
was thrust upon us, we were mistaken
is due to lack of discrimination right from the start
considering, the choice was ours, we played the part.
We became entangled in an invisible net
of our own creation and so fell into debt.

We looked for that which never existed
outside of ourselves and became twisted.
Finding out painfully things just did not last
as we expected them to, remember the past? ....

Perhaps one who has recognised this and with detachment,
some reflection acquires dispassion, sees their attachment,
will find the right keys, with a little grace unlock the seals
fastened within their mind and heart, so remove the veils.
Revealing the inner light gradually brighter
by the virtue of purity and thus get lighter,
feeling our natural essence being unalloyed bliss;
ecstatic joy, unmistakable and unable to dismiss
as something other than coming from within,
sustaining, fulfilling, and definitely free of sin.

Projected from inside as a screen seemingly outside where
it manifested as tangible objects appearing to be out there.
This is part of a grand design to lure us all from the source
by a world of duality being apparently an adversary force.

Creating so many illusions and making us believe
we haven't the things with which it tries to deceive.
Eventually becoming involved in an unreal mesh
of the five objects through the doors of our flesh.
And using five limbs we get seduced even more,
caught in a desperate struggle to hold and score
all that we can hope to get by not realising that
everything has come out of our own mind's hat,
that we have all created to experience the extent
of our Infinite Being which was really the intent.

We are only One Being apart from it all
eternally free, playing the game we just saw
of hide and seek making all the right choices
within its own dream and thus finally rejoices.
When finding Itself as all, nothing has remained
left to be known; all has in Itself been ascertained.

Awakened at last and knowing ourselves as one motion
of existence indivisible beyond certainty a shoreless ocean
of light self effulgent and forever complete,
only Itself, all pervading, can actually meet.
Infinity of existence, omniscient, formless; nowhere bound,
endless and immutable being Itself without a second around.
Awesome, incomprehensible, beyond mind's ability to grasp
except after final annihilation of all limitations in its clasp.

Everything and nothing have merged as before
into that place where they will be forevermore.
For a moment only that Existence of Being is Now
and am by myself so reverently to That must bow.

Take, Oh Take Those Lips Away

Take, oh take those lips away,
That so sweetly were forsworn,
And those eyes, the break of day,
Lights that do mislead the morn:
But my kisses bring again,
Seals of love, but sealed in vain.

Hide, oh hide those hills of snow,
Which thy frozen bosom bears,
On whose tops the pinks that grow
Are yet of those that April wears.
But first set my poor heart free,
Bound in those icy chains by thee.

Summer Rain

World without a breeze
Heartbeat of the heat above the harbour
Lazy day lies dazed upon the shelf
Atomic lizards lick at the blaze of a light that is forever
No move in the solid skies
No gleaming metal out of the breathtaking blue
My golden circus girls all sailed away
The lion tamers are no longer due to play
Whoever breaks the seven seals
And lets the angry angels free
I do not know
Just waiting here
For summer rain
For summer rain
Or anything else
Prophet hold your head up
Into a cluster of bees and listen
Love of my life
Here is all our honey
Yes, we can change the world, together
And if were still invited to walk in this party
Id go for a saucerful of secrets or more
But the last thing I heard of was that God had left the lines
For a brand new universe
He was supposed to say
My golden circus girls all sailed away
The lion tamers are no longer due to play
Whoever breaks the seven seals and lets the angry angels free
I do not know
Just waiting over there
For summer rain
For summer rain
What a glorious feeling
Im happy again
Just cool rain

Bible in Poetry: Revelation 6

The Seals:

1As I was watching Lamb open
The first of seven seals, by then,
I heard one of the creatures four
Utter in voice like thunder, 'Come! '
2 I looked, and there before me stood
A horse, all white! rider with bow;
He was given a crown, and then,
He rode out like a conqueror,
With mind and heart, on conquest bent.
3When Lamb opened the second seal,
The second creature said then, 'Come! '
4 A fiery horse, all red came out!
And to its rider was given,
The pow’r to take off peace from earth,
And make men slay one another.
To him was given a large sword.
5When Lamb opened the third seal then,
I heard the third creature say, 'Come! '
I looked, and there before me stood
A horse, all black! Its rider held
A pair of scales in his one hand.
6And then, I heard a voice amongst
The four living creatures, saying,
'A quart of wheat for a day's wage;
Three quarts of barley, for a day's wage;
Do not damage the oil and wine! '
7When Lamb opened the fourth seal then,
I heard the fourth creature say, 'Come! '
8 I looked, and lo, before me stood,
A horse, all pale! rider named Death;
Hades followed him, closely behind.
They’ere given the power to kill,
Over a fourth of the earth’s men,
By sword, plague, famine, and wild beasts.
9 And when He opened the fifth seal,
I saw under the altar, souls
Of those, who had been slain because
Of testimony to God’s Word,
That they ‘ad maintained until their end.
10They all called out in loud a voice,
'How long, Lord, Sovereign, holy, true,
Until You judge the earth’s peoples,
Avenging blood of ours, they shed? '
11 Each one received a robe of white,
And told to wait a bit longer,
Until the number of fellow
Servants and brothers to be killed,
Was completed as expected.
12 And when He opened the sixth seal,
There was a great earthquake on earth.
The sun had turned so black, as if
It was a sack-cloth of goat-hair,
And moon in full had turned blood-red,
13 And stars from sky fell onto earth,
Like late figs dropping from fig-tree,
When shaken by a strong, fierce wind.
14 The sky then rolled up like a scroll,
And every mountain and island,
Was taken off its place on globe.
15The earth’s kings, princes and generals,
The rich, the mighty, and all slaves,
And every free man hid in caves,
And ’mongst the rocks of the mountains.
16They called the mountains and the rocks,
'Oh, fall on us and hide us please,
From face of Him, who sits on throne,
And from the wrath of Lamb of God!
17For, Day of wrath great has now come,
And who can ever, ever stand? '

Ch 03 On The Excellence Of Contentment Story 24

A weak fisherman caught a strong fish in his net and not being able to retain it the fish overcame him and pulled the net from his hand.

A boy went to bring water from the torrent.
The torrent came and took the boy away.
The net brought every time a fish.
This time the fish went and carried off the net.

The other fishermen were sorry and blamed him for not being able to retain such a fish which had fallen into his net. He replied: ‘O brothers, what can be done? My day was not lucky but the fish had yet one remaining. ‘Moral: A fisherman cannot catch a fish in the Tigris without a day of luck and a fish cannot die on dry ground without the decree of fate.
