Old age is a frame of mind

I saw my only son today
and noted to my great dismay
his hair is now completely grey.
I think that this must be Natures way
of pointing out I’m older too.
A fact with which I can’t argue.
That does not mean I should not do
the things that I’m still able to.
I lack the youthful energy
I used to squander wastefully
But what I have I use wisely.
I am not old; refuse to be.
The passing years I just ignore
don’t even count them anymore.

Started out trying to fake a smile
Disalusion - im in denile
There's something missing
Cause I can't feel a thing
I'm Desinitized!
You can fake this
And I can't take anymore
I'm not so tough
I can't ignore..
You can fake this
And I can't take anymore
I'm not so tough
I can't ignore..anymore!
All this confusion is running deep inside my head.
How long can I keep this up
Before I end up dead!?
I can't beleive it
it could come to this
It's only feelings
so I can't resiste
Apology for sittin on my ass
I'm trying to beleive in something
You can fake this
And I can't take anymore
I'm not so tough
I can't ignore..
You can fake this
And I can't take anymore
I'm not so tough
I can't ignore..anymore!
Anymore!

ANYMORE!!

Cynical Days

Another years gone by,
The worlds grown older,
Sometimes I heave a sigh,
People grow colder.
Every day I do my best to show,
I can make it in this world I know,
But all the bad thoughts that people bring,
My faith in human natures
Getting pretty thin.
Help me get through these cynical days.
Help me get through my cynical ways.
You say its just a passing phase,
Youve got to help me get through, these cynical days.
Another see through scheme,
People are shallow.
The dark nights closing in,
My dark thoughts follow.
I try and make my world a better place,
(my efforts seem in vain),
But Im competing in a human race,
(falling deeper down the drain),
That value things that just dont count,
Makes me wonder what its all about.
Help me get through these cynical days.
Help me get through my cynical ways.
You say its just a passing phase,
Youve got to help me get through these cynical days.
Yeah, you say its just a passing phase,
Youve got to help me get through these cynical days.
Yeah, you say its just a passing phase,
Youve got to help me get through these cynical days.
Yeah, you say its just a passing phase,
Youve got to help me get through these cynical days.
Cynical days.
Cynical days.

The City is Short Today

The city is short today
and it can’t be anymore
than just a few blocks wide today
and the city is grey today,
grey and cold
and the city is short today
the skyscrapers,
only a few inches tall now,
sway back and forth,
caught in the grasp of a
sharp, cutting wind,
the sky scrapers rankle me today
and the city is short today
and the people walk about today
like zombies,
tiny zombies,
their faces and clothes
lack any colour,
and they resemble ants,
they wait on the street corner,
waiting for a miniscule bus
to take them out of this
tiny city
and the city is short today,
and grey
and cold
and small,
so very small
and yet, it towers over me.

Home Aint Home Anymore

(farrar/robinson)
Ive seen so many smiling faces today
But just what lies behind them I cant see
Ive lived my life in many places, you see
Now I dont know just where I wanna be
cause home aint home anymore, no more
My heart aint here anymore, no more
The years have opened up a canyon it seems
A canyon deep and wide that I cant cross
And though my nomad days have opened my eyes
Ive learned that every game must bear a loss
cause home aint home anymore, no more
My heart aint here anymore, no more
Dont be afraid to tell me
That things are not the same
Im older now and wiser
I know how things can change
cause home aint home anymore, no more
My heart aint here anymore, no more

Exhibits

They haven't learned to let things go.
Listen to their conversations,
Diced with bitterness and things
That happened to them many years ago!
Notice the wheezing and premature aging.
They speak of leaving,
Although nothing they do now is accountable!

The ones over there pointing?
They have no clue who they harass.
And could care less if you asked them.
They are the community victimizers.
Also 'leaders' picked who lack abilities.
They speak of unity,
When their children are arrested for crimes!
Of course they do not see themselves to blame.

And the last of the exhibits,
Are the new arrivals.
They are recruited from various places,
To enact as replacements!
You will observe their ambitious natures,
For at least six months...
Until they too begin to wonder,
'Who' inflicts and controls the madness!

In praise of older women for M lady Ernestine

There is beauty in old age
which younger girls can’t emulate
As if the lady’s reached the stage
where she need not dissimulate

She’s not afraid to let you see
the lines that life’s writ on her face.
Each wrinkle was earned honourably
each laughter line has earned its place

Cosmetics may conceivably
appear to slow the passing years
but only temporarily
before you are reduced to tears

Youthful beauty soon fades away
no matter how hard you may try
by artifice to make it stay.
In lucky ladies replaced by

A much longer lasting beauty
which shows from somewhere deep inside
without a trace of vanity
Though grace and dignity abide.

Old ladies can be beautiful
and often turn a young man’s head.
Although they are quite comfortable
accepting compliments unsaid.

Admiring glances from young men
who readily appreciate
The beauty of older women
is something youth can’t imitate.

Young women lack maturity
which older ladies can display.
Their youthful insecurity
somehow always gets in the way.

Letting Go Today

today i am letting go of all the pain
today i am letting go of everything
and after today i will leave here knowing that you did love me
and i believe that things will change

all the things that were left unsaid
all the things we never did
i am letting go today

mom i am letting you go today

i understand that i have made some mistakes
some which i am still paying for today
but i am ready for change. it takes two to fight
and i refuse to fight anymore after today

dad i am letting go today

you gave me the best seven months of ma life
you showed me that everyone is not the same
and have different ways with dealing with things
i hurt you but i am letting all that go today
all the lies and the tears in ma eyes

tory i am letting go today

i was confused
had noone in the world to tell me what to do
i have so much pain and hate but im letting all that go today
i am humen and i dont always have the answer for everthing
i am tryen but i need to try harder.

so i am letting maself go today

all the hurt all the pain
i promise you i am letting it all go today

No Need To Argue

Theres no need to aruge anymore
I gave all I could
But it left me so sore
And the thing that makes me mad
Is the one thing that I had
I knew, I knew, Id lose you
Youll always be special to me
And I remember all the
Things we once shared
Watching tv movies on
The living room armchair
But they say it will work out fine
Was it all a waste of time
Cause I knew, I knew, Id lose you
Youll always be special to me
Will I forget in time
You said I was on your mind
Theres no need to argue
No need to argue anymore
Theres no need to argue anymore
Special

My vanity

When you see the grey in my hair
will you remember the black that was there?
Or will you forget and just see grey
that forms at the roots on everyday?

I used to wear it long and flowing
and preen about how it was growing.
I used a hair brush and counted the strokes,
but that's a waste of time for older folks.

Vanity's been replaced by common sense
although I say in my defense
that if I could I'd still like to see
that shiny lustre of ebony.

Beauty is burdensome anyway
and eventually I'll accept being grey.
But not just yet, maybe next year.
Alas by then more grey will appear.

Escape Goats To Use To Confuse The Issues

It will be great one day,
To awaken to hear.
Voices acknowledging their faults.
With an admitting of them,
That eliminates finger pointing.
To end placing blame on others,
For our own actions a suffering to ourselves.
Mistakes and decisions,
WE cause and brought.

There has to be an accountability,
That initiates what happens.
Escape goats to use to confuse the issues,
Never succeeds with lessons taught.
And excuses quickly used to refuse those things we do,
Has to stop looking for someone's back.
To attack,
As we keep packing upon their shoulders.
Our weight to carry as if they are suppose to do that.
Then verbally express our lack of appreciation.

Fallen Angel

Its sad to see we may never be the way we were before
We dont believe in the magic of the music anymore
And everythings older now and colder and grey
Oh, darlin I believe theres got to be a better way.
It seems to me weve forgotten how to let our feelings show
We seem to be so much farther from the dreams we used to know
And too many more, my friend, are dying today
Oh darlin I believe theres got to be a better way.
Listen to the fallen angels learning how to spread their wings.
How will they make it all alone?
Look into the childrens laughter
Tell me what tomorrow brings for those so far away from home.
And I can say Im not sorry for the things we tried to be
But Im afraid what were heading toward is up to you and me
cause we got a choice; the future is ours you see
We got a chance to change today
Oh, darlin dont you believe theres got to be a better way
cause we got a choice; the furture is ours you see.
We got a chance to change it today.
Oh I believe together there can be a better way
Oh if we believe together we can build a better way.

Reluctant To Leave Those 'Yesterdays' Alone

If there is one thing learned,
That growing older teaches...
The expressing of wisdom,
Even done innocently...
In the exchanging of conversation,
Becomes regarded as suspicious.

Especially amongst those who wish,
Their aging appearances...
Still bestows upon them a youthful glow.
To enable them to dismiss,
Any experience that reveals they too...
Are growing old!

And the evidence of that,
Shows with the lack of wisdom shown...
To those who are actually much younger,
Who today compete with the elderly...
Who are reluctant to leave those 'yesterdays' alone.
With the showing today of any guidance.

Grey Hairs

These are ashes of treasures:
Of hurt and loss.
These are ashes in face of which
Granite is dross.
Dove, naked and brilliant,
It has no mate.
Solomon's ashes
Over vanity that's great.
Time's menacing chalkmark,
Not to be overthrown.
Means God knocks at the door
-- Once the house has burned down!
Not choked yet by refuse,
Days' and dreams' conqueror.
Like a thunderbolt -- Spirit
Of early grey hair.
It's not you who've betrayed me
On the home front, years.
This grey is the triumph
Of immortal powers.

This Morning At The Barbershop

This morning at the barbershop,
a barber is busy with the hair
of a much older grey haired man
that he is trimming neatly
and a young man
sits in one of the barber’s chairs.

When I sit down to wait
the young man rises
turning to me
and asks if he can cut my hair.

I was happy to get attention immediately
while the other barber was finishing
with the older man,
as he looks to finely tuned to me.

My hair was smartly cut
with a pair of scissors
and the young barber
held his fingers
to determine the length
and I wanted it shorter
than just cutting off the ends

while the other barber
first took a hair blower
from a drawer,
sprayed something over his own hair
before he started to blow it in the mirror
and he then said
that he cannot go
to the bank to wait in line
with a head looking like Tut’s ass

and I saw my locks
falling dark brown
with dots of grey around me
and saw the other barber
combing his long hair
and smiled at myself
about the vanity of humanity
while I looked at myself
and were starting to look much better.

What'll I. Do?

The years going quick, my mind is playing tricks,
My body is reeking in pain, oops, I just did the splits;
Where's the balance now I'm getting older,
But isn't it great, the older we get, we get more bolder.
Oh what'll I do, I ask! Yep, What'll I do?

As the years progress faster, time is my master,
Bearing down on me, to me time is a pester;
Then memory lane to me, is disappearing,
And the grey hairs are quickly appearing;
Oh dear, What am I to do, what am I to do.

Those friends I knew from years ago,
Gradually go away, to a place so free; it's true;
And the shopping and housework that has to be done,
Seems I'm not finished till the setting of sun;
Oh. What'll I do, yep, what'll I do.

Wrinkles and Grey Hair (Children)

Mommy's getting wrinkles.
Daddy has grey hair.
It wasn't very long ago
when those things weren't there.

Wish I could smooth the wrinkles out
and darken Daddy's hair
to stop the changes going on.
It makes me feel so scared.

Grampa, does it mean they'll die?
They have wrinkles and grey hair!
I never used to worry
before those things were there.

Grampa said to look at him.
There were lots of wrinkles there,
and on his head, a snowstorm
was the color of his hair.

'Wrinkles only come to point
where smiles were, here and there.
It's your mommy's turn to get some
for the happy times you've shared.'

His white, and Daddy's grey hair
well, it was there to show
who had lived the longest time
so everyone could know!

Grampa said it's part of life.
We love, we learn, we live.
We earn grey hair and wrinkles,
they're prizes only God can give.

A Thought For Your Anniversary

Don't count your decade
By the days that fade
Don't count your years
By the falling tears

Don't count your weeks
By the days that were bleak
Don't count your days
By the trouble's ways

Instead count your decades
By the things you have made
Count your years
By joys and cheers

Count your weeks
When you helped out a meek
And count your days
By cheers and prayers

That was sent for both of you
Along with God's love that is true
Because you're starting another year
Of peace and blessings, love and care.

Happy 4th Anniversary Sister

Faded photograph

A snapshot taken years ago.
Somewhat lacking clarity.
Of some young guys I used to know
In fact the skinny one is me.
The other two I can recall,
their faces well but not their names
Although I try nothing at all.
My memory is playing games
I wonder where they are today
I wonder if they remember me
The passing years erode away
your memories ability.
To regain any access to
some things you know that you once knew

Not bad anymore

Not bad anymore,
not bad anymore is the world today,
I think and realise this world is very hard,
Living up and down,
Waking and failings,
For the world is bad,
But with knowledge it will improve,
It is a bad world with lack of metaphysics,
Not bad anymore is doing all that is right,
I think I perceive all given,
Then I realised that the world is not bad anymore with good done,
Our souls should be far beyond intelligence.
