Reluctant To Leave Those 'Yesterdays' Alone
If there is one thing learned,
That growing older teaches...
The expressing of wisdom,
Even done innocently...
In the exchanging of conversation,
Becomes regarded as suspicious.
Especially amongst those who wish,
Their aging appearances...
Still bestows upon them a youthful glow.
To enable them to dismiss,
Any experience that reveals they too...
Are growing old!
And the evidence of that,
Shows with the lack of wisdom shown...
To those who are actually much younger,
Who today compete with the elderly...
Who are reluctant to leave those 'yesterdays' alone.
With the showing today of any guidance.

It Aint No Big Thing
It ain't no big thing
A & n merrit/hall
You're losing interest in me, and it's showing.
It ain't not big thing but it's growing.
The pain of heartbreak i've just starting knowing.
It ain't not big thing but it's growing.
Everyday the hurt grows bigger than before.
But i'll pretend that i don't notice,
If i can hold you one day more.
You got the look of someone who is going.
You're gonna leave me and it's showing.
A little tear i can feel, start to flowing.
It ain't not big thing but it's growing.
You got the look of someone who is going.
You're gonna leave me and it's showing.
A little tear i can feel, start to flowing.
It ain't not big thing but it's growing.

Intrigued
Since I have gotten older,
And wiser with a wisdom...
That had begun to marinate in patience.
I hear and understand you,
And others quite clearly.
With a growing desire to comprehend.
Sometimes.
When the mood for it is ushered in.
Listening to others as I have done of late,
Gives me more of an appreciation...
As I welcome the aging process,
With acceptance.
Without feeling the doing of this,
Is something I must tolerate.
I love the fact I need not impress.
Or dress to meet someone's expectations.
Although...
Speaking my mind I find can offend.
Especially those still hiding,
Behind their pretensions.
Since I have gotten older,
And wiser with a wisdom...
That had begun to marinate in patience.
I hear and understand you,
And others quite clearly.
With a growing desire to comprehend.
And,
If I so choose...
I now allow my mind to drift with the wind.
To sit and stare without argument...
As if to give my full attention.
I've learned giving a nod or two in agreement does wonders.
I wish I had known this earlier in my life!
'Are you paying any attention to me? '
Of course.
Didn't you just see me nod my approval?
In fact...
I am so interested,
I was about to ask you to repeat what you just said.
I am intrigued and fascinated by the topic.

Diary of a Nine Day Poet
Today (Day 1) I writed stuff I thort was pritty neet
I wanna do this poet shit, so that I can complete
Today (Day 2) I wroted tings I thawt was really neat
I one ta do these poem stuff just so I can compete
Today (Day 3) I wroted down some things I thawt was neat
I want to do some poet stuff just so I can compete
Today (Day 4) I wrote some things I thought was pretty neat
I want to do some poetry just so as I’ll compete
Today (Day 5) I’ve written things I think are fairly neat
I want to write poetically so that I can compete
Today (Day 6) I’m writing verse that is a poets treat
Expressing so poetically; you really can’t compete
Today (Day 7) One is just the best that one can be
I’m thinking other lesser folk should focus just on me
Today (Day 8) I give critique whilst looking down my nose
“One shouldn’t stand illiteracy – Does really one suppose”
Today (Day 9) Ones course is done, one writes on this and that
One’s still unread but now one wears a cloak and silk cravat

Now Regarded As Threats
It was wrong to do from the very beginning,
To dismiss the foolishness with excuses to ignore it.
Now that foolishness has become a way of life,
With a tolerance to condone.
Those who had oppose the existence of it,
And the lack of respect with a void of discipline shown...
Today are themselves now regarded as threats,
To the booming medical industry.
And a determination being made to medicate everyone.

Boys To Men
Growing up can be a pain
Youre not an man until you come of age
Weve given up our teenage years
In the effort to pursue our career
Who assumes responsibility
Of having to support our families
Whos protecting us from harm
Is there anyone around
That we can trust
So we search for answers to our questions
Looking for answers
No answers but were taught a lesson everytime
Through mistakes weve learned to gather wisdom
Lifes responsibility falls in our hands
Keep on learning
Keep on growing
cause wisdom helps us understand
Were maturing
Without knowing
These are the things that change boys to men
Oh the goals we set may exceed reality
Cause failurealways a possibility
Who can tell us that were wrong
Its up to us to figure out
What life is all about
So we search for answers to questions
Looking for the answers
No answers but were taught a lesson everytime
Through mistakes weve learned to gather wisdom
cause wisdom helps us see our responsibility.

Having Wisdom
Having wisdom should enlighten,
But sometimes it can frighten.
Especially when its expected,
Those of age should reflect it.
But they don't.
A disproportionate of those shallow...
Can be callous with a callowness expressed.
Believing an aging process,
Delivers them out of an immaturity that is further digressed.
Yes...
Having wisdom should enlighten.
Having it should produce the brightest moments,
Of our days.
Yet it seems that having wisdom does not mean...
An extension of it shared is not declared,
But the thought of it demeans.
And that is troubling today,
When so many escapes from it are seen!

How 'Emergencies' Are Treated
The first time I heard,
The word conflict associated with disturbance...
Something within me wanted to observe it,
To study and learn.
I wanted to comprehend how conflicts could start.
And who initiated them!
In my mind I compared this to an argument...
Something that began with nonsense,
Until a shouting never seemed to end.
As time goes on...
And the need for destruction and chaos,
To become prolonged as a show of strength...
I witness no evidence of benefit from this.
And those with a consciousness that evolves,
Are less inclined to get involved.
Keeping their enlightment misunderstood,
For weakness that is wished to share.
Although those expressing their love for peace...
Seem to be concealing a lack of knowledge of it.
In once quiet neighborhoods.
Where little of it today exists with the kids,
In absolute control
And discussions of choice of weapons...
To protect themselves from any suspicious 'visitor'.
Who tries to offer a pleasant, unpremeditated 'hello'!
Is profiled from head to toe before the cops are called,
Showing up late as to not to interfere with their secret trysts!
And today?
That's how 'emergencies' are treated!

Older They Grow But Not Up
Older they grow,
But not up!
Many never experience a maturity.
Raised on entertaining limited thoughts.
And few have abilities,
To comprehend little of what they read.
Or take the responsibility,
To hold themselves accountable...
For actions begun and those they leave.
Older they grow,
But not up!
And demands they make,
To satisfy their spoiled ways.
Since no one around them wants to hear them fuss.
Realizing not one of those fussers who also cuss,
Wants to take a position,
To make a decisive decision.
Since accusations are prioritized in their lives lived,
As a must.
And expectations are less for them.
For those exposed to them growing older...
Knowing these minds have no time left.
For them to show a growing up,
With a thoughtfulness.
Older they may grow...
But for them it sure is not up!

Dont Stop
The clock is ticking, and Im here wishing
This new found love will find no end
Dont wanna feel, another feeling
Dont wanna know what time will send
I wanna stop, the earth from turning,
The rain from falling,
The wind from blowing
But dont stop (stop), the love from growing, keep that river flowing
We can find a way
Dont stop (stop), the love from showing
I dont want tomorrow, just give me today
Dont stop (stop), stop the hands of time
Hold back the time
And make forever, the same as the moment I felt your love
Youve touched my heart
Erase the pain, the memories, and mistakes I made
Stop, the earth from turning, the rain from falling, the wind from blowing
But dont stop (stop), the love from growing, keep that river flowing
We can find a way
Dont stop (stop), the love from showing
I dont want tomorrow, just give me today
Dont stop (stop), the flame from burning
Stop tomorrows hurting, from seeing the light
Dont stop (stop), my heart from beating
Keep the time from fleeting, into the night
Cant think about tomorrows fears, cause today is here to stay
Clear away all of yesterdays tears, theres nothing to block our way
Stop, the earth from turning, the rain from falling, the wind from blowing, the sun from shining
Cant find the reason, another season
Could never match a love so pleasin
Dont let it go, no, no, no, no, no
Dont stop (stop), the love from growing, keep that river flowing
We can find a way
Dont stop (stop), the love from showing
I dont want tomorrow, just give me today
Dont stop (stop), the flame from burning
Stop tomorrows hurting, from seeing the light
Dont stop (stop)
My heart from beating, keep the time from fleeting, into the night
Dont stop (stop), the love from growing, keep that river flowing
We can find a way
Dont stop (stop), the love from showing
I dont want tomorrow, just give me today
Dont stop the love, stop the time, another day, to keep you mine
Dont stop the love, stop the time, another, to keep you mine

Time and Experience
I found the past in my present
I built the future on my past
I found the gift of today
When I thought about what
The future has to offer
Where is the wisdom in experience
If there is no folly in wisdom
What's the real meaning of death
If our spirits live forever
Times never change
But circumstances do
I'll let mystery play with the future
Surprises couple with the present
And experience mourn the past
Because sun always rises from the east
And each day always comes to an end
Experience is not chained to wisdom
Nor is folly tied to bad results
But to the circumstances that burden
Our past, present and future because
Time is always anxious for the future
Experience loves the present
And wisdom never divorces the past

Reasons I Cheat
A working day to long when everything goes wrong
And a boss who dont know Im alive
I once had a notion Id get that promotion,
But now I barley survive
A wife to demanding with no understanding
Of why I stay dead on my feet
A dimly lit tavern a willing young woman
Are some of the reasons I cheat
The hair that Im losing and a women whos choosing
To lay sound asleep by my side
The bills they are mounting thats when I start counting
On someone to help sooth my pride
A lady that knows me affection she shows me and a smile so easy and sweet
The dreams that Ive buried the load that Ive carried
Are some of the reasons I cheat
My children keep on growing me age keeps on showing
Like all of my old friends I meet
So Im getting older my lifes growing colder
Just some of the reasons I cheat
Yes Im getting older my lifes growing colder
Just some of the reasons I cheat

Wisdom's Way
Wisdom is calling souls today, to come to God in Wisdom's way,
While Wisdom sends forth her call, upon this world, to every soul,
For Wisdom has prepared for us, a house built on Righteousness,
Built up with seven pillars strong; being complete for every throng.
Wisdom has prepared her feast, for those with plenty, to the least,
While she has set her table for all, for both the great and the small,
Wisdom has sent out her invitation, to all souls without reservation,
Her invitation for all to come, regardless of where are you are from.
She calls the simple to partake, but foolishness they must forsake,
As wicked ways all must spurn, to come to Wisdom and truly learn,
With wisdom being their selection, they must be open to correction,
Learning from every past mistake, as Wisdom's feast, they partake.
As scoffers come along our way, rejecting what Wisdom has to say.
All filled with arrogance and pride, by them, wisdom shall be denied,
Correcting then in Wisdom's name, brings upon one hurt and shame,
For hate the scoffer will project, toward one who chooses to correct.
Will you today heed Wisdom's call, to seek The Lord Who's over all?
Leaving old ways, that you know, so through Wisdom you can grow,
Changing to a life of Righteousness, this as you follow Christ Jesus,
As Wisdom shall multiply your days; with a long life, to God's praise.

I Was Made To Feel Different In My Younger Years
I remember sitting in the corners of shadows.
Wishing to be invisible,
After making attempts to disappear.
I was made to feel different in my younger years.
My voice was deep at the age of twelve.
And my knees knocked.
I was aware I walked pigeon toed.
I was made to feel different in my younger years.
People were quick to critique me then.
When they would laugh at me.
I laughed right back at them to hide and cry alone.
I was made to feel different in my younger years.
I grew wiser before I aged.
And years it would take for me to learn to forgive.
But I did with a doing successfully.
I was made to feel different in my younger years.
Perceptive, empathetic and sometimes distant.
Removed from anguish I knew others felt.
Yet today I might sit with periodic embitterness.
I was made to feel different in my younger years.
I've learned to use my talents and gifts,
To lift me beyond any loneliness that visited.
And with slow and painful steps I grew to improve.
I was made to feel different in my younger years.
And when I self examine to reflect...
So happy I am to have held on to my patience,
With a giving to others a respect regardless...
If little of it was shown to me,
When I was growing to bloom.
I was made to feel different in my younger years.
Hungering then to be accepted.
I was made to feel different in my younger years.
Hungering then not to be neglected.

All That Is Regarded Foolishness
With experiences lived.
And an aging process accepted,
One realizes upon reflection...
How much easier it is to judge.
Than it is to self-examine.
Not many are fortunate to survive,
Through life threatening diseases.
To then step aside with their eyes open wide,
With a freeing of themselves from insecurities left...
Hidden deep inside to confront and rid.
With experiences lived.
And an aging process accepted,
One realizes upon reflection...
How much easier it is to judge.
Than it is to self-examine.
But when that moment in time comes,
An accepting of one's flaws and blemishes are done.
With a leaving behind trivial nonsense.
And all that is regarded as foolishness,
Becomes less tolerated to quickly dismiss.
Yesterday and those mistakes made,
And all that is regarded as foolishness...
Becomes less tolerated to quickly dismiss.
Wishing for excuses and alibis to create,
Becomes less tolerated to quickly dismiss.
And all that is regarded as foolishness disappears.

Ultimately Believed
Portraying to be a fool,
Has its benefits...
Eventually to be received.
To accept being one,
Has no advantages.
And ultimately believed.
When one lives to learn to grow,
There is much to comprehend.
Those living not wishing to comprehend,
Have shown what they've learned.
And this reflects.
'Where has all this wisdom you have come from? '
Wisdom?
Is that what it's called?
Well,
It wasn't from a book.
My best teacher has been observation.
And experiencing pain,
Trying to box with concrete walls.
Hearing laughter when I've fallen.
And being perceived for that which I'm not.
Spending a few weeks in complete isolation,
Has helped me to center and focus...
An emotional and crushed mind.
With a getting up off my behind with faith.
And being able to take all kinds of criticisms.
Now...
If that is wisdom,
As you interpret it as something I have...
Then I have a tremendous amount of it.
And I don't know WHY I was picked to have it.
But I'll tell you this...
I awaken each day expressing my gratefulness,
For being blessed to have tolerated much BS!

Everyone Is Growing Older
Between warring Countries hostilities do not last
And 'tis true your friend of tomorrow may be your foe of the past
But life goes on as usual that's how it seems to be
And we make friends with the old foe to fight our new common enemy
And everyone grows older but few grow wise and gray
For we still glorify the folly of war in the World of today
And we find things in common when we have a common foe
But as we do grow older few of us do wiser grow,
We celebrate war heroes to die in war is not seen as a sin
And when one war it is over another war begin
To use the name of God in war seems hypocritical that would seem fair to say
And to Moses fifth commandment respect we never pay
Crimes of hate and xenophobia sad to say are on the rise
And everyone is growing older but so few are growing wise.

Today I will read
Tap me not on my shoulder
Today I will read
For there is the urgent need
to explore words being soldered
into blissful compact sentences
as my reading commences
Today I will read
In no chronological order
something immoderately ordinary
Consulting the Oxford dictionary
If and when necessary
Today I will read
Knowledge is power and wisdom
a substitute for boredom
Knowledge is a curse
when words used tend to slip off course
In moments of seeking
the understanding of definitions
I will scamper through publications
of columns in newspapers
Absorb the skeptical illustrations
Learn more about this nation
As I feed my own imagination
Today I will read
a book or a novel
I will read articles
and the contents of scripts
doing my research while I search
for the truth
even if its minute
Today I will read
Separating quality from quantity
as I delve into topics
in my encyclopedia
Tap me not on my shoulder
whether you are younger or older
For Today I will read

Yesterday's Papers
Who wants yesterdays papers
Who wants yesterdays girl
Who wants yesterdays papers
Nobody in the world
After this time I finally learned
After the pain and hurt
After all this what have I achieved
I've realized it's time to leave
Cause
Cho wants yesterdays papers
Who wants yesterdays girl
Who wants yesterdays papers
Nobody in the world
Living a life of constant change
Every day means the turn of a page
Yesterdays papers are such bad news
Same thing applies to me and you
Who wants yesterdays papers
Who wants yesterdays girl
Who wants yesterdays papers
Nobody in the world
Seems very hard to have just one girl
When there's a million in the world
All of these people just can't wait
To fall right into their big mistake
Who wants yesterdays papers
Who wants yesterdays girl
Who wants yesterdays papers
Nobody in the world

Age With Honesty Should Come
You can never be too old,
To feel a lot younger.
Or...
Never be too young,
To...
Know what growing older means.
Age with honesty should come,
To those who know they're older.
And...
Stripped of all deceit to leave,
Spooked on dead-end roads.
Age with honesty should come,
To those who know they're older.
And...
Stripped of all deceit to leave,
Spooked on dead-end roads.
You can never be too old,
To feel a lot younger.
Or...
Never be too young,
To...
Be taught integrity.
And with a dignity.
