I Drove All Night

I had to escape
The city was sticky and cruel
Maybe I should have called you first
But I was dying to get to you
I was dreaming while I drove
The long straight road ahead, uh, huh
Could taste your sweet kisses
Your arms open wide
This fever for you is just burning me up inside
I drove all night to get to you
Is that alright
I drove all night
Crept in your room
Woke you from your sleep
To make love to you
Is that alright
I drove all night
What in this world
Keeps us from tearing apart
No matter where I go I hear
The beating of our one heart
I think about you
When the night is cold and dark
No one can move me
The way that you do
Nothing erases the feeling between me and you
I drove all night to get to you
Is that alright
I drove all night
Crept in your room
Woke you from your sleep
To make love to you
Is that alright
I drove all night
Could taste your sweet kisses
Your arms open wide
This fever for you is just burning me up inside
I drove all night to get to you
Is that alright
I drove all night
Crept in your room
Is that alright
I drove all night
I drove all night to get to you

The Night They Drove Old Dixie Down

Virgil caine is the name,
And I served on the danville train,
til stonemans cavalry
Came and tore up the tracks again.
In the winter of 65,
We were hungry, just barely alive.
By may the tenth, richmond had fell,
Its a time I remember, oh so well,
The night they drove old dixie down,
And the bells were ringing,
The night they drove old dixie down,
And the people were singin.
They went
La, la, la, la, la, la,
La, la, la, la, la, la,
La, la,
Back with my wife in tennessee,
When one day she called to me,
Virgil, quick, come see,
There goes robert e. lee!
Now I dont mind choppin wood,
And I dont care if the moneys no good.
Ya take what ya need and ya leave the rest,
But they should never have taken the very best.
The night they drove old dixie down,
And the bells were ringing,
The night they drove old dixie down,
And the people were singin.
Like my father before me,
I will work the land,
Like my brother above me,
Who took a rebel stand.
He was just eighteen, proud and brave,
But a yankee laid him in his grave,
I swear by the mud below my feet,
You cant raise a caine back up
When hes in defeat.

(It's Hard) Letting You Go

It ain't no fun lying down to sleep
And there ain't no secrets left for me to keep
I wish the stars up in the sky would all just call in sick
And the clouds would take the moon out on some one-way trip

I drove all night down streets that wouldn't bend
But somehow they drove me back here once again
To the place I lost at love

I Just Drove By

I always go the other way
But my car drove me down today
To a little house on the older side of town
Back when things were never hard
I used to play there in that yard
And I just drove by to see if things had changed
Cokes were just a nickel then
And across the street at the five and ten
A lot of things were cheap and square and strange
And the life we had might have been
But it was one we loved believing in
And I just drove by to see if things had changed
I wondered now
If love is still the way it was back then
I need to know
That life is still a place worth living in
There it is, just like it was
A house where there was always love
I just drove by to see if things had changed
In a world thats seen its better days
Its good to know some things remain
The same, though standing still is not times way
Take to heart while in its spring
That love is just a fragile thing
I just drove by to see if things had changed

We laughed about the night we had

We laughed about the night we had
A night of hot and cold
Your turned me on your sensual ways
Your acts were kind and bold

But later as the night grew on
Confusion crept inside
You turned me off I dunno why
I took it in my stride

I really thought that we were through
The things you spoke that night
Confused and shocked I drove you home
Was glad we didnt fight

We laugh about the night we had
It's in the past I know
But baby girl please not again
With you I want to grow

Try Me Again

Well I drove past your house last night
And I looked in your window
Lately I aint been feelin right
And I dont know the cure, no
Still I cant keep from wonderin
If I still figure in your life
Could you take me back and try me again
Could you try me again
I drove around in this lonesome town
Felt just like a beginner
Friends I saw, they just brought me down
Theyre so cynical and bitter
Well, I guess Im just like them now
I never thought Id turn out like that
Could you take me back and try me again
Could you try me again
Well you say that I cheated
I was not what you needed
Well youre not being kind
When you say you tried
And you know you lied
My hands are tied
Oh, try me again
Im gonna knock on your door
til you say youll come back again
And love me some more
Oh, try me again
Could you try me again
Oh, try me again

Confined Within Walls Too Thick To Chip

Their own beliefs drove them insane.
With accusations and denials kept,
Speeding the process.
Blaming others for their hold on stubbornness,
Has left them confined within walls too thick to chip...
Away.
And too high to climb over,
To excape from the madness they have created.

Their own beliefs drove them insane.
And today they rush to have everyone pay,
A price to endure further sacrificing...
With devices used,
To excuse as if 'okay' to have had things done their way...
Has been done too many times for those not to notice,
The minds behind it all.
Their own beliefs drove them insane to keep for themselves,
Alone!

I Drove

No back seat rider.
Cruising to view a life...
And selecting scenes,
Preferred and/or liked.
I drove.
Cautious.
Even though a few accidents,
Caused me to pay more attention.
Although that was meant.
I ran out of gas.
And stumbled when I pushed to fast.
But I finally found my path identified.
I felt at home!
I knew I had arrived.
I'm glad I took it upon myself...
To learn to drive.
Although my preference is to walk.
Observe.
Touch and enjoy life.
If I had cruised through it...
I would not have known,
How much of it I would have missed.
I drove with hope.
And faith kept me blessed,
To see my life from the driver's seat.
I drove over hills and through darkened valleys.
And there awakened to touch the sky at sunrise.
I drove at midnight.
And the stars would keep my dreams alive.
As obstacles kept my drive alive through thunder.
I drove...
Until I knew and felt the Sun,
Would come to chase rain clouds of storms away!
Although my preference is to walk.
And I do.
If I choose...
Today!

Her Worst Nightmare

she left the one
who has her heart
for the one she thought
could give her a fresh start

he called everyday
even when she went away
then the first pin dropped
the game hadn't stopped

she overlooked it
as a mistake
little did she know
he was just a fake

he claimed to need her
he claimed to give his heart
but when she learnt the truth
it tore her apart

it drove her crazy
to think he could lie
and treat her like nothing
it made her cry

each discovery
worst than the last
she regretted
giving up her past

she decided
to move on
from this relationship
she was gone

she told him so
but he would accept
over and over
he'd just reject

he drove her crazy
he wouldn't let her be
day and night
he called putting up a fight

finally she cracked
and let him have it
threats and curses
only helped a bit

a day or two
is all she got
then he started
again to stir her pot

pretending not to notice
was all she could do
nothing helped
she needed a clue

over and over
it happened again
as soon as she forgot him
it drove her insane

she now had a stalker
she now felt cornered
she needed to get rid of him
she wanted to look forward

Met A Girl

Met a girl, oh so fine. She was always looking for a good time. Drove me out of my mind. The way it is. Its hard to say. But i cant forgive. Three strikes your out. I care too much to let you do it around me. Don't you see. I just cant deal with it. Presumptuous is to think, i ll get u tanked so you can use your body the way you want too. Met a girl, oh so fine. She was always looking for a good time. Drove me out of mined. Distanced by her self destructiveness. They say again and again ignorance is truly bliss. Well in this case it is. They say live and let live. Just stay away and that's okay. With indifference as my knife i stab you with heart ache and heart break. The tears fall and theirs no way i can catch em all. Met a girl, oh so fine. She was always looking for a good time. Drove me out my mined. It feels like dying over and over again just beneath the skin. Is their really a god or heaven. Sick is my stomach, a constant churning. A need to help. My heart beats, as the blood pours. Oh wounds so sore. I want so much more. Then some are willing to give. I will not relive the same thing ever again. This is one of those times i cant win. Full blown, retreat. The pain is too much. The love is too much. Enough is enough. Met a girl, oh so fine. She was always looking for a good time. Drove me out my mind. But that all ended that night. I said what others whispered. I was honest and i know it had hurt. It hurt me much worse. Its a curse, i have no fear. Espically when it comes to someone i hold so dear. I rather just disappear then have you near. Too much, its going get rough, too much, it's just too, too much

Fate Led Me Too It

sitting in the corner
surrounded by darkness
the light in her eyes
the heart full of hate

the single blade
the single vein
the single dropp of blood

that young boy
this young girl
that dreadful night

the screeching tyres
the shatter of glass
the night that boy left

the other car
the drunken man
the night he drove away

this young girl
this night
this night she joins him too.

Lagos Island [Two Girls]

One day on Lagos Island
I drove passed
two girls on the
coastland.
As they freeze
From the heat of
The cold winter.
They beckoned
On me as I drove
past in speed on
the bridge
of their local mainland.
I freeze;
Parked and
Comes out to see
What it could be;
Then two girls
I see;
Staring intensely
At me,
They said: you see,
Are you really free?
I asked: why do
you ask me?
I've been driving
By the sea;
And you see
It takes time
To come out this
Bridge.
And my kids;
They're waiting
for me.
Well, you see;
They proceed
To say what they
Mean:
We have come a long
way by the sea,
It's so cold out
There
on the bridge;
The flood drove
us out with natural
Authority,
Could you take
Us in as a refugee?

Standstill

Its three in the morning
And I stayed up all night
Drowning in my words
Writing about you
Time seems to standstill
Since the day you left me
A revolving door
Slamming this time so slowly
Youre running out
Youre running fast now
We were just kids back then
Two years of my life
Traded for an ending like this
Like a love movie without a goodbye kiss
Why was it me
With all sincerity
Which car drove us to
Drove us to this road
This road of broken promises
First it was broken glass
That fell down from the sky so fast
It hit us then
She promised but it happened again

Whenyou Are Tired And Simply Want To Be Home

as i drove the car last night
i passed by the thick crowd of people
in a big circle
the old yellow bus stopped and
some motorcycles were
blinking their lights

the ambulance finally arrived
in short seconds

two bodies of bloody unconscious
males were hauled away

blood flowed again on the floors
of the night

i did not know who they were
what they did and what they dreamed
from where they were
the women that loved them
... i am not interested
i am tired of this routine of
deaths almost every night

i guessed another alcohol caused
mishap, perhaps

i always wanted to be back home
and it was already late at night

Nineteen-Sixty-Five

What a year,
seems lke yesterday,
March 29,1965
is a day not
to forget.

My Wife Diana
and I had went
out to eat that night
awaken to a fire.

it was across
the alley from us
flames 100 feet high
fire trucks, oh so many.

We went back to
bed, but not for
long I'm afraid.

She went into labor
oh so much yelling
she did that night.

Diana's parents
lived downstairs,
they rushed us
to the hospital,

as we drove up
i looked up and
said this is
wrong hospital.

So he drove few
more blocks
we made it in time.

Placed her in wheel chair,
and into E.R.
I waited and paced
the floor, so many
smokes i had.

sometime later
in early AM doctor came and
told me it was
a girl.

Her dad said we
should call her
Christine, since
we could thank
Christ for getting
there safe.

So her name became
Christine Lynn Foulk
and I was so proud
to be a father
for first time.

Today March 29,2007,
Christine you are 42,
but will always
remember that
special day
so many years ago,
Happy birthday daughter.

Crystal

Written by stevie nicks.
Do you always trust your first initial feeling
Special knowledge holds true, bears believing
I turned around and the water was closing all around like a glove
Like the love that finally found me
Then I knew in the crystaline knowledge of you
Drove me through the mountains
Through the crystal like and clear water fountain
Drove me like a magnet
To the sea
To the sea
How the faces of love have changed turning the pages
And I have changed, oh, but you, you remain ageless
Like the love that finally found me
Then I knew in the crystaline knowledge of you
Drove me through the mountains
Through the crystal like and clear water fountain
Drove me like a magnet
To the sea
To the sea
