I Drove All Night
Roy orbison
I had to escape , the city was sticky and cruel
Maybe I should have called you first
But I was dying to get to you
I was dreaming while I drove
The long straight road ahead
Uh-huh, yeah
Could taste your sweet kisses, your arms open wide
This fever for you was just burning me up inside
I drove all night to get to you
Is that all right?
I drove all night, crept in your room
Woke you from your sleep to make love to you
Is that all right?
I drove all night
What in this world keeps us from falling apart?
No matter where I go
I hear the beating of our one heart
I think about you when the night is cold and dark
Uh-huh, yeah
No one can move me the way that you do
Nothing erases this feeling between me and you
I drove all night to get to you
Is that all right?
I drove all night, crept in your room
Woke you from your sleep to make love to you
Is that all right?
I drove all night
Could taste your sweet kisses, your arms open wide
This fever for you was just burning me up inside
I drove all night to get to you

Virgil caine is the name, I served on the danville train
So much cavalry came and tore up the tracks again
In the summer of sixty-five we were hungry just barely alive

The night they drove old dixie down and the bells were ringin
The night they drove old dixie down and the people were singin
They went la na na na na na la na na na na na na na
Back home in tennessee my wife called out for me
Say virgil come quick and see there goes robert e lee
I dont mind choppin wood and I dont care if da money aint good
You take what you need and save the rest but they should never have taken the
Very best
The night they drove old dixie down and the bells were ringin
The night they drove old dixie down and the people were singin
They went la na na na na na la na na na na na na na
Like my father before me he was a workin man
Like my brother above me he took a rebels stand
He was just eighteen proud and brave when a yankee laid him in his grave
I swear by the blood beneath my feet you cant raise a caine back up when hes
In defeat
The night they drove old dixie down and the bells were ringin

(It's Hard) Letting You Go
It ain't no fun lying down to sleep
And there ain't no secrets left for me to keep
I wish the stars up in the sky would all just call in sick
And the clouds would take the moon out on some one-way trip
I drove all night down streets that wouldn't bend
But somehow they drove me back here once again
To the place I lost at love

The Night They Drove Old Dixie Down

And I served on the danville train,
til stonemans cavalry
Came and tore up the tracks again.
In the winter of 65,
We were hungry, just barely alive.
By may the tenth, richmond had fell,
Its a time I remember, oh so well,
The night they drove old dixie down,
And the bells were ringing,
The night they drove old dixie down,
And the people were singin.
They went
La, la, la, la, la, la,
La, la, la, la, la, la,
La, la,
Back with my wife in tennessee,
When one day she called to me,
Virgil, quick, come see,
There goes robert e. lee!
Now I dont mind choppin wood,
And I dont care if the moneys no good.
Ya take what ya need and ya leave the rest,
But they should never have taken the very best.
The night they drove old dixie down,
And the bells were ringing,
The night they drove old dixie down,
And the people were singin.
Like my father before me,
I will work the land,
Like my brother above me,
Who took a rebel stand.
He was just eighteen, proud and brave,
But a yankee laid him in his grave,
I swear by the mud below my feet,
You cant raise a caine back up
When hes in defeat.

We laughed about the night we had
We laughed about the night we had
A night of hot and cold
Your turned me on your sensual ways
Your acts were kind and bold
But later as the night grew on
Confusion crept inside
You turned me off I dunno why
I took it in my stride
I really thought that we were through
The things you spoke that night
Confused and shocked I drove you home
Was glad we didnt fight
We laugh about the night we had
It's in the past I know
But baby girl please not again
With you I want to grow

I Just Drove By
I always go the other way
But my car drove me down today
To a little house on the older side of town
Back when things were never hard
I used to play there in that yard
And I just drove by to see if things had changed
Cokes were just a nickel then
And across the street at the five and ten
A lot of things were cheap and square and strange
And the life we had might have been
But it was one we loved believing in
And I just drove by to see if things had changed
I wondered now
If love is still the way it was back then
I need to know
That life is still a place worth living in
There it is, just like it was
A house where there was always love
I just drove by to see if things had changed
In a world thats seen its better days
Its good to know some things remain
The same, though standing still is not times way
Take to heart while in its spring
That love is just a fragile thing
I just drove by to see if things had changed

All I Want To Do Is Make Love To You
It was a rainy night
When he came into sight,
Standing by the road,
No umbrella, no coat.
So I pulled up alongside
And I offered him a ride.
He accepted with a smile,
So we drove for a while.
I didnt ask him his name,
This lonely boy in the rain.
Fate, tell me its right,
Is this love at first sight?
Please dont make it wrong,
Just stay for the night.
All I wanna do is make love to you
Say you will
You want me too
All I wanna do is make love to you
Ive got lovin arms to hold on to
So we found this hotel,
It was a place I knew well
We made magic that night.
Oh, he did everything right
He brought the woman out of me,
So many times, easily
And in the morning when he woke all
I left him was a note
I told him
I am the flower you are the seed
We walked in the garden
We planted a tree
Dont try to find me,
Please dont you dare
Just live in my memory,
Youll always be there
All I wanna do is make love to you
One night of love was all we knew
All I wanna do is make love to you
Ive got lovin arms to hold on to
Oh, oooh, we made love
Love like strangers
All night long
We made love
Then it happened one day,
We came round the same way
You can imagine his surprise
When he saw his own eyes
I said please, please understand
Im in love with another man
And what he couldnt give me
Was the one little thing that you can
All I wanna do is make love to you
One night of love was all we knew
All I wanna do is make love to you
Say you will, you want me too
All night long
All night long
All night long
All night long

Her Worst Nightmare
she left the one
who has her heart
for the one she thought
could give her a fresh start
he called everyday
even when she went away
then the first pin dropped
the game hadn't stopped
she overlooked it
as a mistake
little did she know
he was just a fake
he claimed to need her
he claimed to give his heart
but when she learnt the truth
it tore her apart
it drove her crazy
to think he could lie
and treat her like nothing
it made her cry
each discovery
worst than the last
she regretted
giving up her past
she decided
to move on
from this relationship
she was gone
she told him so
but he would accept
over and over
he'd just reject
he drove her crazy
he wouldn't let her be
day and night
he called putting up a fight
finally she cracked
and let him have it
threats and curses
only helped a bit
a day or two
is all she got
then he started
again to stir her pot
pretending not to notice
was all she could do
nothing helped
she needed a clue
over and over
it happened again
as soon as she forgot him
it drove her insane
she now had a stalker
she now felt cornered
she needed to get rid of him
she wanted to look forward

Met A Girl
Met a girl, oh so fine. She was always looking for a good time. Drove me out of my mind. The way it is. Its hard to say. But i cant forgive. Three strikes your out. I care too much to let you do it around me. Don't you see. I just cant deal with it. Presumptuous is to think, i ll get u tanked so you can use your body the way you want too. Met a girl, oh so fine. She was always looking for a good time. Drove me out of mined. Distanced by her self destructiveness. They say again and again ignorance is truly bliss. Well in this case it is. They say live and let live. Just stay away and that's okay. With indifference as my knife i stab you with heart ache and heart break. The tears fall and theirs no way i can catch em all. Met a girl, oh so fine. She was always looking for a good time. Drove me out my mined. It feels like dying over and over again just beneath the skin. Is their really a god or heaven. Sick is my stomach, a constant churning. A need to help. My heart beats, as the blood pours. Oh wounds so sore. I want so much more. Then some are willing to give. I will not relive the same thing ever again. This is one of those times i cant win. Full blown, retreat. The pain is too much. The love is too much. Enough is enough. Met a girl, oh so fine. She was always looking for a good time. Drove me out my mind. But that all ended that night. I said what others whispered. I was honest and i know it had hurt. It hurt me much worse. Its a curse, i have no fear. Espically when it comes to someone i hold so dear. I rather just disappear then have you near. Too much, its going get rough, too much, it's just too, too much

Lagos Island [Two Girls]
One day on Lagos Island
I drove passed
two girls on the
coastland.
As they freeze
From the heat of
The cold winter.
They beckoned
On me as I drove
past in speed on
the bridge
of their local mainland.
I freeze;
Parked and
Comes out to see
What it could be;
Then two girls
I see;
Staring intensely
At me,
They said: you see,
Are you really free?
I asked: why do
you ask me?
I've been driving
By the sea;
And you see
It takes time
To come out this
Bridge.
And my kids;
They're waiting
for me.
Well, you see;
They proceed
To say what they
Mean:
We have come a long
way by the sea,
It's so cold out
There
on the bridge;
The flood drove
us out with natural
Authority,
Could you take
Us in as a refugee?

Try Me Again
Well I drove past your house last night
And I looked in your window
Lately I aint been feelin right
And I dont know the cure, no
Still I cant keep from wonderin
If I still figure in your life
Could you take me back and try me again
Could you try me again
I drove around in this lonesome town
Felt just like a beginner
Friends I saw, they just brought me down
Theyre so cynical and bitter
Well, I guess Im just like them now
I never thought Id turn out like that
Could you take me back and try me again
Could you try me again
Well you say that I cheated
I was not what you needed
Well youre not being kind
When you say you tried
And you know you lied
My hands are tied
Oh, try me again
Im gonna knock on your door
til you say youll come back again
And love me some more
Oh, try me again
Could you try me again
Oh, try me again

This Ain't A Lovesong
I should have seen it coming when the roses died
Should have seen the end of summer in your eyes
I should have listened when you said good night
You really meant good bye
Baby ain't it funny how you never ever learn to fall
You're really on your knees when you think you're standing tall
But only fools are know-it-alls and I've played that fool for you
I cried and cried every night
There were nights that I died for you baby
I tried and I tried to deny it that your love drove me crazy baby
If the love that I got for you is gone
If the river I've cried ain't that long
Then I'm wrong yeah I'm wrong
This ain't a love song
Baby I thought you and me would
Stand the test of time
Like we got away with the perfect crime
But we were just a legend in my mind
I guess that I was blind
Remember those nights dancing at the masquerade
The clowns wore smiles that wouldn't fade
You and I were the renegades some things never change
It made me so mad 'cause I wanted it bad for us baby
And now it's so sad that whatever we had
Ain't worth saving oh oh oh
If the love that I've got for you is gone
If the river I've cried ain't that long
Then I'm wrong yes I'm wrong
This ain't a love song
If the pain that I'm feeling so strong
Is the reason that I'm holding on
Then I'm wrong yeah I'm wrong
This ain't a love song
I cried and I cried every night
There were nights that I died for you baby
I tried and I tried to deny it that
Your love drove me crazy
If the love that I got for you is gone
If the river I cried ain't that long
Then I'm wrong yeah I'm wrong
This ain't a love song
Then I'm wrong yeah I'm wrong
This ain't a love song
oh oh oh no no

Standstill
Its three in the morning
And I stayed up all night
Drowning in my words
Writing about you
Time seems to standstill
Since the day you left me
A revolving door
Slamming this time so slowly
Youre running out
Youre running fast now
We were just kids back then
Two years of my life
Traded for an ending like this
Like a love movie without a goodbye kiss
Why was it me
With all sincerity
Which car drove us to
Drove us to this road
This road of broken promises
First it was broken glass
That fell down from the sky so fast
It hit us then
She promised but it happened again

Last Night
Orbison/melson
Last night, last night, last night, you loved me, how you loved me
Oh, you made me love you last night
Oh how you teased me like you did it, when you did it last night
Pleased me like you did it, when you did it last night
You stole my heart away from me last night
Holding you tight, did it mean as much to you as it meant to me, last night
Were you just lonely, was i just a friend?, did you want me only, or did you pretend?
Was it just one night to hold you tight? then make tonight just like last night
Come on and love me like you did it, when you did it last night
Hold me like you did it when you did it last night
I want you to stay and love me all the way
Say sweet things to me like you said last night, hang on so tight
Now it's alright, just like last night i feel so fine now, you are mine now
Yeah, just like last night, yeah kiss me like you did it
When you did it last night, yeah, touch me like you did it
When you did it last night, ah love me like you did it
When you did it last night, last night

A Shrine To Elvis
She asked me if I had the time
To see her lounge-room Elvis shrine
In her 30's – kinda cute
We drove to her place in my ute
The house was on an acre block
Fibro front porch parking lot
Her daughter – young and tartly bland
Was pregnant from a one night stand
Her son – now twenty - moved away
When the drugs consumed him and they say
He’d hit his mum a hundred times
For objecting to his cocaine lines
But Elvis’ shrine stood resolute
With pics of Elvis in gold suits
He is my hero she then said
While inviting me into her bed
He was a man that knew his way
I'd sleep with him most any day
But now he is in lame’d heaven
You must do this – so please pretend
And croon his songs while we make love
Me on my back while up above
Resplendent on my ceiling tiles
Is more of Elvis and his style
I looked close at the Elvis shrine
His hair his pout – this look not mine
I asked her why she loved The King
She softly said that anything
Was better than the life she led
So when with men within her bed
She had to dream that it was him
Who hugged her kissed her slid within
A mirror ball then caught my eye
While hound-dog played on her hi fi
I felt like a human sacrifice
A feeling i found none too nice
At this I drove off in the night
Something didn’t seem quite right
I look like Buddy Holly see
Not like her Elvis – that ain’t me.

Confined Within Walls Too Thick To Chip
Their own beliefs drove them insane.
With accusations and denials kept,
Speeding the process.
Blaming others for their hold on stubbornness,
Has left them confined within walls too thick to chip...
Away.
And too high to climb over,
To excape from the madness they have created.
Their own beliefs drove them insane.
And today they rush to have everyone pay,
A price to endure further sacrificing...
With devices used,
To excuse as if 'okay' to have had things done their way...
Has been done too many times for those not to notice,
The minds behind it all.
Their own beliefs drove them insane to keep for themselves,
Alone!

Crystal
Written by stevie nicks.
Do you always trust your first initial feeling
Special knowledge holds true, bears believing
I turned around and the water was closing all around like a glove
Like the love that finally found me
Then I knew in the crystaline knowledge of you
Drove me through the mountains
Through the crystal like and clear water fountain
Drove me like a magnet
To the sea
To the sea
How the faces of love have changed turning the pages
And I have changed, oh, but you, you remain ageless
Like the love that finally found me
Then I knew in the crystaline knowledge of you
Drove me through the mountains
Through the crystal like and clear water fountain
Drove me like a magnet
To the sea
To the sea

Fate Led Me Too It
sitting in the corner
surrounded by darkness
the light in her eyes
the heart full of hate
the single blade
the single vein
the single dropp of blood
that young boy
this young girl
that dreadful night
the screeching tyres
the shatter of glass
the night that boy left
the other car
the drunken man
the night he drove away
this young girl
this night
this night she joins him too.
