Buddhist Lesson # 2

enlightment,
the act of opening,
like a rosebud,

like a mother,
opening the door...
like a child

opening a present,
like a woman
opening to a man....

opening...
all the hidden chambers,
every door to every

secret kingdom of the soul.....
opening the box that holds
your secret thoughts, desires....

opening...
the door of the cage,
letting the winged breath fly....

opening....
your heart to itself,
and to all hearts beating....

opening....
the vault of conceptions,
the entrance to the tomb

of past lives and memories....
opening...
your hands to the world

as if it were your neighbor,
and you, it's home!

Theres A New World Just Opening For Me

Now I know just what Ive been doing wrong,
Life seems empty, but it wont last for long.
I shant go on this way.
Theres a new world just opening for me.
Been alive, but it could be lying down. [? ]
Just cant tell when the devils on the prowl.
I cant pretend no more.
Theres a new world just opening for me.
Theres a new world just opening for me.
Win the battle, but the victory brings you pain.
You make confessions, but you do the same again.
I wont go on this way.
Theres a new world just opening for me.
I wont go on this way.
Theres a new world just opening for me.

Loud Is The Cry Of War

Loud is the cry of war
Many people shall it smite

Opening up death's dark door
Our people shaken to the core
As we feel our enemies bite
Loud is the cry of war

Many soldiers now implore
If this battle was worth the fight
Opening up death's dark door

Many hearts lie broken and torn
An Endless number of sleepless nights
Loud is the cry of war

Crowded will be heaven's shore
As the dead now take their heavenly flight
Opening up death's dark door

Although we won, we lost much more
As empty cries echo through the night
Opening up death's dark door
Loud is the cry of was

Opening The Door Of Existence

Opening the door of existence
I entered non-tense balanced
Satisfied and content
Coming to the mother
Feminine mystique I am feminine
And I live and live in the moment.

Opening the door of existence
I read history I read fables
That are one and the same
Coming to the mother
I forget to put questions
Relating to the very existence.

Opening the door of existence
I became more elemental more natural
Without having corners
Coming to the mother
I enjoyed like birds rivers
And trees and resent and future.

The closing of a door can bring blessed privacy and comfort - the opening, terror. Conversely, the closing of a door can be a sad and final thing - the opening a wonderfully joyous moment.

Straight Pathway

My opening of the doors created folly,
Abhor those who sit and wait, with ice.
The life of plenty condemns nobody,
Letting fences be built for the gardens.
Return to the grass, if a straight course
Means a pathway to the enemy.
Buildings of bricks and mortar
Shall make offerings to Nature.
My opening of the door to Nature
Is like that of the entrance to Time.

Birth Energy

I am opening
I am opening up
Birth energy
Be my teacher
Birth energy
Heal my fears
Teach me trust
Teach me compassion
Walk me into the darkness
And into your light
Birth energy
You are woman
Birth energy
Within the man
Ever constant
Ever changing
Let your winds blow
Rock me in your storm
Let the bough break
Let me fall
Into your arms
It is you I trust
When I say
Im trusting love
Invocation:
I stand among the sisters of the moon
I am held by the creator of the world
I am opening
I am unbounded
I am luminous
I am powerful
I surrender to this power
Life and newness are continued and
Renewed through me
You are the ocean
I ride upon your waves
I am opening
I am blown apart by your caress
I surrender to you
I embrace you
I am ready now to sing the moon
To be her voice
I am the singer
And life is her song
I sing creation
I sing joy and pain
Beginning and ending
Giving and taking
Existence
Goddess
I embrace you
I am opening
I am opening up

Daisaku Ikeda

You must not for one instant give up the effort to build new lives for yourselves. Creativity means to push open the heavy, groaning doorway to life. This is not an easy struggle. Indeed, it may be the most difficult task in the world, for opening the door to your own life is, in the end, more difficult than opening the doors to the mysteries of the universe.

Ode to The Scent Of Cinnamon

The heady scent of cinnamon
Upon the opening of the door
The tugging out of memories
From the mind’s musty store

The warm, soft smell of pie crust
Upon the opening of the oven
The revisiting of the memories
The huggin’ and the lovin’

The aromatic aura of apples
Baked with a crispy honeyed glaze
The remembering of the memories
Kitchen memories, happy days

The Smell of hot peach cobbler,
The tantalizing odor of allspice
The callin’ back of the memories
Kitchen memories, warm and nice

Red and white checkered aprons,
Flour dappled, love lined faces
The tearful tug of way old memories
Memorable kitchens, happy places

The heady scent of cinnamon
Upon the opening of the door
Is one of the bestest of my memories
And likely will be… forever more

Ahhh…The heady scent of cinnamon!

The Ripening

I picture you,
opening the door,
walking up the orchard rows,
in the caramel of evening light.
A giant's shadow peers at you
from in between the trees,
trudging silently with you
as you lift the sun-warm fruit,
cup in one work-seasoned hand
an apple, rich and scarlet ripe.

I picture you,
opening your door,
treading the dew drenched grass,
the raucous song of wattle birds
spritzing the crisp dawn air.
Your hands busied at the basket
gently placing, one by one,
harvest fixed by darkness chill,
all glossy, sweet and unblemished.

I picture you,
opening my door,
singing to the hallway ceilings,
eyes creased deep in blissful smile,
tide of sunshine flooding in with you,
the giant heralding you in silence
as you tenderly bestow
your joyous gift for all seasons,
proud and precious gems of autumn.

Heart To Heart

This song appears on four albums, and was first released on the seasons of the heart album. it has also been released on the very best of john denver (double cd), the country roads collection an
Country classics albums.
I havent seen all there is to see
But Ive seen quite a bit
Some things Ill always remember
Some things I wish that I could forget
I havent quite been around the world
But Ive been around the block
I know that distances are meaningless
Like the hands that move around a clock
And I know that love is everywhere
Always safe, always true
And exactly where it comes from
Is where its going to
Your heart to mine
My heart to yours
Talk about opening windows
Talk about opening doors
My heart to yours
Your heart to mine
Love is a light that shines
From heart to heart
Here I am sitting in old hong kong
The harbor and the lights
Theyre like diamonds in the heavens
Enough to brighten the darkest of nights
Theres another side to sorrow
As there is to everything
Like the other side of lonely
Is falling in love again
And then you know that theres an answer
To the suffering we see
And though it isnt easy
Its still as simple as you and me
And youll know that love is everywhere
Always safe, always true
And exactly where it comes from
Is where its going to
Your heart to mine
My heart to yours
Talk about opening windows
Talk about opening doors
My heart to yours
Your heart to mine
Love is a light that shines
From heart to heart
Your heart to mine
My heart to yours
Talk about opening windows
Talk about opening doors
My heart to yours
Your heart to mine
Love is a light that shines
From heart to heart

The Freedom You See...

outside freedom waits
it is not naked like the way they draw it on paper
or sculpt in marble or mold with the plaster of
Paris,
in fact it is well dressed, light sneakers,
straw hat, and a travel bag,
ready to grab the exit
from here

it is not the opening of any door
or the breaking of seals and locks

it is the ready heart, the opening arms
it is a pair of imaginary wings

but it is calm, well composed
gentle, and
not outspoken.

Is Love

Love is like the bloom of a flower
Opening up after a spring shower
Showing the world of its beauty known
And also knowing it's sad to be alone.

Love is like the sky above
Where the stars are hung and flies the dove
The masterpiece created by GOD for us
To show to us all in this world there is love.

Love is like the ocean deep and blue
Always present and always true
As deep as the oceans or the seas might be
There is the wanting for all to believe.

Love is like the wind that has blown
We feel it upon us, but it's never shown
We hear it we sense it we know it's there
It is love, so with another we try to share.

Love is like a flower's bloom
Opening never to late or ever to soon
But opening up in the midst of love and spring
And hoping one day that it will bring forth a ring.

Through The Heart

I see through the heart like glass,
Opening the books of the mouth;
My solutions are clearer than the lips
That politely shut to avoid duty.
My lies are so much absent and present,
Begging is no escape, begging is no properness.
To solve the riddle of the past
We must solve ourselves like the heart.
Open this organ of hidden qualities
Like the opening of a drum and song.
Long and hard we seem to strum like a past,
A past well hidden at last, particularly now.
The heart is hidden in height as a weight,
We wait and we wait, the heart is fond.

Haunted

The yawn of an opening door,
the creak on the stairs
of someone unseen descending there.
They are the classic opening
to a ghostly tale of a haunted house
where spirits dwell down a leafy lonely lane.
Now that is in the movies or a paperback novel.
However, when we see a place that resembles that
a cold chill goes through us as if it is real.
In reality, haunted buildings
are just ordinary ones we see.
The ones you wouldn’t expect to be haunted at all.
