Where O Where?
WHERE O WHERE? - Ed Iacona
On a hot and steamy summer night,
While eating Italian lemon Ices,
I thought again of the dismal plight
Caused by her Mid-Life Crises.
Say what you will to defend your 'change'
Deep inside you know what's true.
Our lives you hurt and made re-arrange
Yet my prayers ask, Where are YOU?
You said you aren't living your life
For your children and me too.
You sought escape as mom and wife
Still I question, Where are YOU?
In nature all birds leave the nest
But before they take to the blue
Two parents teach them to be their best
I'm here. Where are YOU?
So, Maysie, am I your Horton?
I'm still caring after you flew.
Trying to balance on a branch
And wondering, Where are YOU?
You left your family to seek your 'light'.
That is what you said was true.
Yet, one wonders how you sleep at night
We're here, Where are YOU?
Our daughter is in all honors,
Taking college level Spanish too...
Yo tengo un pregunta grande,
¿Adonde estabas tu?
All the shades of their growing up,
No matter what we go through,
Should be part of our family's loving cup
But sadly, Where are YOU?

Father –in-law’s and mother-in- law’s daughter is a daughter-in-law
Father –in-law’s and mother-in- law’s daughter is a daughter-in-law
In the long and short journey of life one has to read the same law,
Even the daughter-in-law should not treat with them just like a saw,
She must think that her husband’s parents are like her own parents,
Action and reaction we can see soon infront of our eyes and mind,
And every one has his or her law and so let us always live by a law,
A good son-in-law does not deserve for any kind of dowry to find,
He too considers that his wife’s parents are just like his own parents,
A daughter is born in her own family and lives in the another family,
All will weep to see the changes of her life from the starting to an end,
If that new family members are good for her she lives very happily,
Otherwise in every walk of her life she suffers and herself will tend,
All daughters have to face and face to cross the same path of life,
The Nature itself will pity on them to see their difficulty of life’s strife.

Wedding Band
Joey Wedding Band
JoAnn was the birth name of my wife
To me Joey was her name for a lot of our married life
One of the best things anyone could ask for in life
Is to have a good and loving wife
When it comes time for me to pass no matter day or night
I hope and pray that my wife will be my guiding light
I did not complement my wife as much as I could of
But with all my heart I gave her my love
My wife is in heaven watching over our family
Hoping we could be the best we could be
I am now living by myself and on my own
I have my dogs and my family but I feel alone
I never thought I knew how bad pain could ever be
Until my wife died and left me
At times my wife lets me know she is near
She turns off the picture frame to let me know she is here
On a chain around my neck I wear my wife’s wedding band
I also still wear mine on the finger of my left hand
To anyone who reads this poem do not let the time with your family go
Everything is gone before you know

No Matter What
No matter what they tell us
No matter what they do
No matter what they teach us
What they belive is true
No matter what they call us
How ever they attack
No matter where they take us
We'll find our own way back
I can't deny what i belive
I can't be what i'm not
I know i love forever
I know no matter what
If only tears were laughter
If only night was day
If only prayers were answered
Then we would here god say
No matter what they tell you
No matter what they do
No matter what they teach you
What you believe is true
And i will keep you safe and strong
And sheltered from the storm
No matter where it's barren
Our dream is being born
No matter who they follow
No matter where the lead
No matter how they judge us
I'll be everyone you need
No matter if the sun don't shine
Or if the skies aren't blue
No matter why they ended
My life began with you
I can't deny what i believe
I can't be what i'm not
I know this love forever
That's all that matter's now
No matter what
No

Why do you want to be an orphan?
Here you are
five years old
Playing with your parents
Is all you want to do
Taking you to the park
you want them to do
Family night you are excited about
Days you count
just to get to that night
years flew by
like birds passing by
teenager you became
Hanging with your friends
is all you want
Family night you can't stand
Staying with your family
i doubt
Why do you want to be an orphan?
friends come and go
Family stays with you all the way
and all day
Orphan you want to be
or Freedom you want to have? :)

Abuse And The Aftermath
So now I walk these loney streets
My family, they cannot dry these tears
Nor give, rest for these tired feet
Nor calm these ever present fears
For I have seen that life
Which gave those tainted hearts
And guile which makes every thing gray
And so alone in life, I seek too start anew
I look for a new way
I wanted my family to know that
And that
Life goes on no matter what
And that These truths cannot be quelled
For true memories and true love are
Never to be forgot
For within my heart they'll always dwell
So I keep walking, some lonely street
I keep searching, to find a-way
And every night as I start troubled sleep
Love's promise, for me tomorrow... tomorrow will
Be a better day
And so I awake and I start anew
Knowing that my love
Will always be there...for you
Now these words I give to honor
So that my family may share
I just wanted them to know
How much I really did care
And for love, I'd go back there
and I'd rexperience all that pain
I'd do-it in a moment
If all your love I could gain
For you are my real and only family
And this I can never forget
Nor depart
For true love, is true love
And true love will never leave
Even from me, and this broken heart

Thanksmisgivings
THANKSMISGIVINGS
Edward Iacona
There's a little tradition on Thanksgiving
In which the family and each guest
Takes a turn before the dinner
To tell how their lives are blessed.
Each person speaks of gratitude
Within their minds reflection
As she listens and waits what does she think
In her personal introspection.
Does she give thought to her family
Once united, happy and strong.
Or a single thought to her husband
And how she did them wrong.
Details here are unimportant,
As our hurt remains inside.
Does she have any accountability
To consider how she lied.
If there's a mental inquisition
If recent past comes to her minds door...
My question ends with a preposition
What could she be thankful for?

When You Wish....
When You Wish....
Ed Iacona
When the love of my life left us
And wrote us out of her script
She left her family sad and hurting
And me emotionally ripped.
I spent the days in contemplation
Sifting through the all years
Until comes night with lack of light
When shadows can hide the tears.
To find a little glimmer
Of reconcilable hope
I consulted first the guidance
Of my daily horoscope.
I asked a toy 'Magic Eight Ball'
And turned it over for it's say
The answer in the window showed
'It's Certain', 'Unclear' or 'No Way! '
I tried to use a Ouija board
To get an answer true.
Problem with my using one
To use it, it takes two.
I have a best friend, a physic
An expert with decks of Tarot
Will there be a return of my beloved?
But her cards could not show.
There's a website that grants real wishes,
And to me that sounded great!
To make them come true one must
Comply with the magic power of '8'.
Write an '8' upon a card and
Then show it to the moon.
Recite your wish specifically
And It will come true soon.
I drew an '8' most carefully
And to this I shall attest
After showing it to the moon
The moon was not impressed.
I guess there is no real 'Secret'
For it is my found contention
For no matter how hard I tried
There is no 'Power of Intention'
All I wanted was a solution and
For this I was willing to do my part
But no matter what I tried I found
That only God can change ones heart.

Summertime
Summertime - let the love birds fly tonight
Summertime - can you feel it deep inside
Summertime - come along and sing this song
Let's celebrate a party all night long
No clouds in the deep blue sky
We're so happy so don't be shy
Summertime, I feel so strong
Let's party all night long
Let the sunshine in your heart
Take my hand let the romance start
Everybody's feeling fine
It's summertime
See the stars they are shining bright
Everything is gonna be alright
Summertime goes on and on
Let's party all night long
Honest passion this is true
I feel the fire just for you
Everybody's feeling fine
It's summertime
Now I close my eyes, I'm hypnotized
Living in a dream like paradies
Like Lightning, from the deep blue sky
You entered my life and captured my mind
Like a thief you've stolen my heart
Made me a part of your life and made me start
And when the night goes on, I wanna be with you
That's true - no matter what you gonna do
Flirtin all day, laying on the beach
Summertime is cool can you feel the heat
Of love, you are my fantasy
High up in the sky like birds I'm free
Catch me I'm falling in slowmotion
Let me show my deepest devotion
Just one word, one smile that's true
And all I wanna be is close to you

The Not So Perfect Family
The perfect family
Or so it seems
All the children
Shining like beams
They are smart, athletic
Witty and fun
Loved by all
Hated by none
The dads a teacher
The mom runs the store
They volunteer in the community
Always helping the poor
Their accomplishments
Shine in public light
Nothing they do wrong
Everything right
This is the model
Many inspire to be
Although this family isn’t perfect
That they’ll never see
How do I know
You may not have guessed
Im part of that family
And let me tell you
We’re no better than the rest
Dads never home
He only has time for his friends
Time with the family
He has yet to spend
Not the marriage she wanted
She’s always sad
Mom’s always invisible
To my dad
Except for the times
When he comes home late at night
The smallest thing in the world
Can cause the biggest fight
Three younger sibling
Two always cry
Have to be strong for them
In the face of loves lie
Why be together
When distant at heart
For all these years
They should have been apart
But that they wont do
For the youngest three
Who still live at home
Life unimaginable, it would be
So my parents pretend, everythings okay
Although trapped together forever
To give us the lives we live
Feelings of true love, for them felt never
The perfect family
Not quite what it seems
This thought to us children
Nothing more then a dream

Drunks Confession
because of my drinking, a life was lost
now i must live in complete remorse.
no one can bring that loved one back
and their family, living with panic attacks.
it does not matter if we're drinking
when we're young or old.
the taking of a life will still unfold.
the thought will always enter your mind
if i had stopped to think
i would not have taken that drink.
that person would be alive today
and with family, and friends they would play.
i did not realize the agony i would sustain
and their family living in constant pain.
i always said that i could control 'it'.
and that's not true.
for when you're high, you don't know what to do.
this is the price that we all must pay
for a life that i took that day.
now i'm waiting for a jury to decide
if i should live or i should die.
i at least put my life in capable hands
but 'the life i took did not have that chance'.

Immigrant Man
Years pasted by us quick
Lost counting endless days and nights
The family I haven’t seen for years
Because Immigrant to another country
Challenging to survived work and living
No time to think no time to miss the family
Never thought of how much the family missed I
Forgive me I have not been home
For such a long time
But my heart has never left the family
And I have never taken my root away
I missed my country. I missed mostly my family
The family loving caring brought me up
Endlessly guide help and supports
Priceless ticket hearted joy going home
To see my beloved family
Which I haven’t seen for years
To celebrate with the family

On Seeing Tawny Frogmouths
At nightfall the birds known as tawny frogmouth come out in family groups of three or four
They do not have a song the only sounds they do make is a sort of a low pitched nasal snore
In the wooded parkland they fly from tree to tree in their search for tree insects and flies
And they return to roost on their roosting trees at the dawning just before sunrise,
Quite expert at camouflage in their colours of brown lengthwise on a bare branch of a tree
In the bright light of day they look part of the branch they are almost impossible to see
Disguised from the prying eyes of predators in safety they rest Nature never ceases to amaze
Of her so little we do seem to know we are strangers to Nature's ways,
Related to the nightgars nocturnal insect eating birds though frogmouths far greater in size
For better vision in dimlight the night birds 'twould seem than day birds have far larger eyes,
I have seen the frogmouths at nightfall in the park near my home almost tame to them I approached near
Of human kind so little they seem to know so of humans they show little fear,
From tree to tree in the parkland they fly these quiet brown birds of the night
So well camouflaged on their bare roosting branch they seem part of the tree in daylight.

Made Me A Man
As I work with the sweat upon my brow
As so to support my family my wife and child
I do for them, all that I can,
As GOD, he made me a man.
I Protect all which is mine and what I own
Which includes my possessions and also my home
At my wife’s side I will always stand
As GOD, he made me a man
I will never ever lie or cheat or steal
Never hurt anyone when instead I could heal
As I know what is in my greater plan
As GOD, he made me a man.
I will never ever start a war or even a fight
Whether I be wrong and they be right
I will talk with them, until we both understand
As GOD, he made me a man.
I will not break the vows I made to my wife
No matter the problems or even the rife
I know years from now in front of GOD I will stand
As GOD, he made me a man.
A soul and a life GOD he gave me
He showed me the roads and told me to be free
I gave up being a boy from worries I had not ran
As GOD, he made me a man.
As I say my prayers alone at night
I humble myself to the Lord and his might
I know that GOD, he made me a Man
But I am the one, who made me who I am.

Night after Night
Night after night
I lay here night after night
I lay here as the rain pours or when the sun shines
I lay here as the weather gets colder, or when it’s summer
I lay here as the leaves change their colors, or when the snow covers
I lay here in my memories
I lay here wondering how long has it been since I passed by
I wonder how long since it has made you cry
I remember waking up to the darkness
I remember being put down inside where it was cold inside
Wondering why did I let life pass me by
I remember hearing the clock ticked my life away
I remember no one crying over me
I remember never saying goodbye
I remember wanting you to say I am sorry
I remember wanting you there by my side
I remember waiting to hear your voice one last time
As I lay there, as one by one my family, and friends comes to say goodbye one last time
I remember crying how you could not say goodbye
So night after night I lay here waiting
For you to come and say I am sorry or at least tell me goodbye
So I was not perfect, I had my flaws
But last I heard I was your every thing
So I guess I was wrong

An Ode To You...
Ode those that would place their family, before their
own ambitions.
Ode, to the soul of our nation. Women. For if it is men,
that are the history, it is surely woman, that are the soul.
Ode, to those who provide, protect
and guide their loved ones.
Ode, to those that know the difference, between
compromising and belief.
Ode, to all who give their lives, in
time of war; especially the majority, for
they are mostly, from economically challenge areas.
Ode, to a rare breed of politician, who puts their

Ode to those that understand, that their religion is not
necessarily the one and true religion. For if that were
true, what of the billions of others, that have chosen
a religion, not likened to theirs?
Ode, to all who react, to the plight of those less fortunate.
Ode, to the parents of this world, who teach
their children the values of life and living.
Ode, to the countless millions, who give of themselves and
ask nothing in return.
Ode, to those who consciously attempt, to make this a better world.
