The High Cost Of Loving
THE HIGH COST OF LOVING
Edward Iacona
A divorce is what she wanted, not I.
Her freedom, a new life and new route.
Our loving marriage cost little to enter,
But so much more to try and get out.
Never mind the cost of tears and trauma
Caused by her misbegotten mystical journey
Yet another bitter pill to swallow is
Dealing with a marital attorney.
Their ads give hope and understanding
Pledging to defend rights without a doubt.
Until one meets for a consult to find
That is not what it's all about.
We speak about my problems
As they assess every asset,
Their interest seems to center
On what they think they can get.
The talk of my sad situation
And a strategy quickly fade
To their more important agenda of,
How much and how they're paid.
Shakespeare penned a lethal thought
For those hired to defend their employers.
'The first thing that we do, ' is said
'Let's kill all the lawyers! '
That is a line from Richard The Sixth,
And while such mayhem should restrict us.
After giving it some careful thought, I ask,
What jury would want to convict us?

Freedom Is Never Free
They tell me
'Freedom is never free.'
I know that-
More than most realize.
Freedom cost us more
Than we should have to give.
Freedom cost us blood.
It cost us the lives
Of our fathers,
Our sons,
Our brothers.
But while freedom is never free,
Remember-
It has been bought at great price,
And so is a thing of great value.
We must defend it,
From those who would take it away.
The defense of our freedoms
Will cost us-
More than we wish to pay.
But we must pay, to defend,
For if we try to make freedom free,
We forget-
True freedom is never free.

Freedom In Your Marriage?
Is there freedom in your marriage?
Or is there bondage bringing woe
Is there freedom in your marriage?
This is what I'd like to know.
For marriage is two people
Each sharing the others love
Not telling each other how to live
Nor giving each other the shove.
For each is an individual
With free-will to be such;
Giving and receiving in their talents -
However much.
Having freedom to enjoy at times
What each may like to do;
Pleasing each other by attitude
Being happy for each too.
Standing by each other
When outsiders shoot the tongue
No matter what the cost might be
For freedom you're among.
So, is there freedom in your marriage?
I pray there is today,
For only in love's freedom -
Marriage will be for aye!

Love Is The Price
RAP 1:
BABY'S IN THE PARLOUR
WAITING FOR THE RAIN
BEATING LIKE A HAMMER
WASHING OUT HER PAIN
CLEARING LIKE THE ONE
SEVEN YEARS AGO
WHEN HER FIRST BIG LOVE
MELTED LIKE SNOW
BACK THEN SHE DOUBET
IF SHE WOULD EVER FIND A MAN
WHO COULD LOVE HER THAT WAY
THE SAME WAY AGAIN
AND JUST WHEN SHE THOUGHT
SHE'S LIVING IN VAIN
THE MAN OF HER DREAMS
CAME LIKE THE RAIN
REFRAIN:
WHEN LOVE IS THE PRICE
FREEDOM IS THE COST
LOVE IS THE PRICE
FREEDOM IS THE COST
AND JUST WHEN YOU THINK
EVERYTHING IS LOST
LOVE WILL BE YOUR PRICE
AND I KNOW I WOULD NOT CHANGE A THING
YES I KNOW I WOULDN'T CHANGE A THING
RAP 2:
THEY SPOKE ABOUT HER DREAMS
THEY SPOKE ABOUT LOVE
THEY SPOKE ABOUT THE THINGS SHE WAS SO AFRAID OF
HE HAD THE KEY-WORD
FOR EVERYTHING SHE FELT
SO IT DIDN'T TAKE LONG
TILL HE GOT HER NAILED
PIN ONE'S HOPE ON SOMEONE ELSES LIFE
AND ALL YOUR DREAMS
WILL HURT YOU LIKE A KNIFE
SHE SOON GOT LOST
WHEN LOVE IS THE PRICE
FREEDOM IS THE COST
REFRAIN:
WHEN LOVE IS THE PRICE
FREEDOM IS THE COST
LOVE IS THE PRICE
FREEDOM IS THE COST
AND JUST WHEN YOU THINK
EVERYTHING IS LOST
LOVE WILL BE YOUR PRIZE
AND I KNOW I WOULD NOT CHANGE A THING
YES I KNOW I WOULDN'T CHANGE A THING
RAP 3:
SHE DIDN'T TRUST THAT VERY FIRST MAN
TO COME INTO HER LIFE TRYING TO UNDERSTAND
WHAT NOBODY EVER COULD BEFORE
HE ONLY MADE HER SEE
THERE IS SOMETHING MORE
TO LEARN ABOUT FREEDOM
TO LEARN ABOUT LOVE
TO HANDLE ALL THE THINGS SHE WAS SO AFRAID OF
TO ALWAYS FOLLOW WHAT SHE REALLY FELT INSIDE
EVERYTHING ELSE WAS A ROLLERCOASTER RIDE

Find The Cost Of Freedom
Daylight again, following me to bed
I think about a hundred years ago, how my fathers bled
I think I see a valley, covered with bones in blue
All the brave soldiers that cannot get older been askin' after
you
Hear the past a callin', from Ar- -megeddon's side
When everyone's talkin' and noone is listenin', how can we
decide?
(Do we) find the cost of freedom, buried in the ground
Mother earth will swallow you, lay your body down
Find the cost of freedom, buried in the ground
Mother earth will swallow you, lay your body down
(Find the cost of freedom buried in the ground)

Asunder
As I walk the dog each night, I stare into the sky.
The stars alone bear mute witness to my daily weary sigh
I still ask the heavens of what went wrong to love that went awry.
And I think of the things we could have done but she would not even try.
Writing rhymes about our problems is a great temptation.
No matter our marital pitfalls there was a promise of dedication.
Heartbreak and richer lawyers are the only education
True soul mates who have broken bonds are a sad aberration.
Love and trust can be repaired, make it your marriage vocation.
Marriage and family live in love and should not seek cessation.
So, these words from I who may face life in relative isolation
'Never make a permanent fix to a temporary situation.'

Faces of war
I've been in war twice, and it is not pretty or nice
men and women put the uniforme on and it symoblizes strength
carrying all your gear and weapon not knowing when to pull the trigger
you're fighting with son or daughter of parents they love dearly
keep yourself and your follow soldiers alive and you must fight fiercely
blood will shed and bodies all laying every-where dead
at war noone wins, for God says thu shall not kill
countries send soldier to defend, and whatever the cost and at will
the pain and sorrow that brings to so many, the leaders have no clue
you are a number and expendable, soldier stick togother like glue
soldiers return with missing limb and undetected serious illness
soldier puts his/her life on the line at time kills, we need no forgiveness
at what cost, as we all know freedom is not free
we must do whatever it take, so we can be a free country
give thanks to a person in uniform, cause we're fighting for you
don't take anything lightly, a soldier does what a soldier need to do

Paid In Full
There are wars that are to be won
And there are wars to be lost
There are lives to be saved
And there are lives to be lost
But mine will come at a higher cost
There are victories that are deserved
And even in those wins, something is lost
There are deaths that are deemed necessary
Despite that, their honor is never lost
But mine will come at a higher cost
There are people that do not agree
And believe that the world is lost
There are others that say it’s saved
Only if the doubt and negativity are lost
But mine will come at a higher cost
There are soldiers that believe in a cause
And believe that American values are not lost
There are my bothers that fight on the line
And there are the brave ones that we have lost
It is those who have paid the higher cost

Delay, Deny and hope they Die
Dedicated to Buddy the Vet.
VA hospital,
Tough situation,
Soldiers shot up
Veterans Administration.
What to do,
So many issues,
So many wounds,
So many tissues.
It cost a lot of cash,
To maintain a battle cry,
Just beyond MASH,
It's delay, deny and hope they die.
A hidden agenda
Awaits us all,
These were our finest,
Who heard the call.
If that's the reward
For the price they paid,
What do you suppose,
Will be our heath care delayed.

Tears
Tears...
Dry them!
Do it now!
You've spent enough time,
Giving grief your attention!
I shed them myself.
Not for hours, days or weeks!
But years!
That's all I could do!
That's all I felt my eyes were in my head,
To produce!
I realized my tears were not being felt,
By anyone else but myself.
I could not borrow empathy for my sorrows.
I dried those tears.
Took smiling lessons.
Believed I could fly...
Until I fell off the curb from a high,
I thought I enjoyed.
But 'weed' does not last too long!
I asked myself what was wrong?
It was me!
I could not believe it!
I had wanted to believe my tears came from something...
OR someone else.
But...
They were rolling down 'my' eyes.
And that agony was mine!
It wanted me more than I wanted it!
I got rid of it!
I became my friend!
My 'best' friend!
And like all good friends...
I learned to enjoy myself.
I learned that my happiness was deserving!
I began serving myself dosages of happiness...
On a daily basis!
Tears?
You can shed them if you want!
But I am willing to bet,
You'll be doing it by yourself!
And if you're happy doing it?
Be thankful.
Celebrate!
However...
If you find yourself delivering tears?
Find out 'who' is behind the production.
And 'why' you are left to pay the cost!
Such performances are usually not worthy,
Of the price paid!

Where O Where?
WHERE O WHERE? - Ed Iacona
On a hot and steamy summer night,
While eating Italian lemon Ices,
I thought again of the dismal plight
Caused by her Mid-Life Crises.
Say what you will to defend your 'change'
Deep inside you know what's true.
Our lives you hurt and made re-arrange
Yet my prayers ask, Where are YOU?
You said you aren't living your life
For your children and me too.
You sought escape as mom and wife
Still I question, Where are YOU?
In nature all birds leave the nest
But before they take to the blue
Two parents teach them to be their best
I'm here. Where are YOU?
So, Maysie, am I your Horton?
I'm still caring after you flew.
Trying to balance on a branch
And wondering, Where are YOU?
You left your family to seek your 'light'.
That is what you said was true.
Yet, one wonders how you sleep at night
We're here, Where are YOU?
Our daughter is in all honors,
Taking college level Spanish too...
Yo tengo un pregunta grande,
¿Adonde estabas tu?
All the shades of their growing up,
No matter what we go through,
Should be part of our family's loving cup
But sadly, Where are YOU?

Best Thing
Written by james young, dennis deyoung
Lead vocals by dennis deyoung
Your loving seemed to be the best thing
That I ever had
Your loving seemed to be the best thing
That I ever had
Your loving seemed to be the best thing
That I ever had
Your loving seemed to be the best thing
That I ever had
Silk and satin make me wonder
Just who I am
To be with you in times of slumber
Makin me a man
I havent known you for a very long time
But its on my mind what I want to do
A trip to the skies we begin to fly
Oo-oooh
All the riches I have taken
From you every night
Pay you back someday with interest
cause your loving makes it right
Yeah
Your loving seemed to be the best thing
That I ever had
Your loving seemed to be the best thing
That I ever, ever had
Oh yeah
Best thing

Intuitive vs cognitive thinking
A bat and a ball cost a dollar ten
The bat cost one dollar more than the ball.
Pray tell, how much does the ball cost?
How quickly the answer seems to fall!
If, like most, you said ten cents
You’re lazy and prone not to think (as am I)
For the correct answer, be not
ten cents my friend (no lie!)
For you I most certainly would not jive
If you think, more than a few blinks
You’ll see your answer stinks
For the cost of the ball is not ten cents at all
But at the cost of some thinking…
Is five!

For Freedom... Gone Fishin
For the intangible concept of Freedom
There has been many a loss of life.
In the name of her script for Freedom,
I was forced to lose my wife.
T'was her sad solution
For her personal evolution
Freedom was her revolution
From loving marital institution.
In conflicts concerning Freedom
This struggle really vexes
For I have been re-called to join
The Battle of The Sexes.
Within this forced fed Freedom
There's an aspect that I hate,
Having in common with my children
Of finding someone to date.
There's many an online dating site
Floating upon the shining Cyber-sea...
With many a lovely lady whose
Bait is waiting just for me.
I sniff and write to ladies lines...
Feeling I'd be quite their catch
Only to find in sad despair that
They think we're no match.
Swimming and searching for the line,
To be hooked and then give my all.
But, as I keep getting thrown back,
I think maybe I am just too small.
In the matter of physical chemistry
I shrug saying, 'what the heck'...
Most gals don't look like enchanted Fiona
And, I don't think that I look like Shrek.
But, when her lure dances by my way
To her invite I shall not refuse it.
Just because I have my Freedom
I am more than willing to lose it.

Pledge Of Freedom
if the cost of freedom
be my hand or my foot...
cut them off, take them,
let it be so.
if to see equality,
you must take my eyes,
pluck them out,
they are yours!
if the price of compassion
be the scars on my back,
then so be it.
if my body be the bridge
you must cross to find the truth,
then i lay it down!
if my heart in your hands
be the cost of responsibility,
then i give it!
for i cannot go there...
without you!

It's All Future Life We Betray
For our children will there be a tomorrow,
That's our responsibility now,
Are we leaving them with heartbreak and sorrow?
Will it be misery on them we endow?
Are we doing enough to ensure a good life?
For all of our future generations,
Or will we leave them with nothing but strife,
All caused by our present creations.
Nuclear power and our weapons of woe,
Are now getting out of control,
Mass destruction created wherever we go,
We are tearing out our Earths soul.
Our resources on Earth are dwindling fast,
As each second another life is born,
Less to go round means before time has passed,
We leave someone else feeling forlorn.
If we continue on our present course,
Our species future will be in serious doubt,
Humans from reality they tend to divorce,
It's the very laws of nature we flout.
Would you watch your child starving to death?
While you eat your ten course meal,
Well we watch as others take their last breath,
Without giving a damn how they feel.
We have the resources we have the power,
To alleviate their suffering forever,
But mention the cost and the financiers glower,
It's neither cost effective nor clever.
Profit is what motivates the Human Being,
Not morality or sympathy for others,
The starving can die whilst the rich are out skiing,
Self-interest and greed are what smothers.
When we leave the vulnerable unable to cope,
To ensure we enjoy life today,
As they die in despair without any hope,
‘' It's All Future Life We Betray ‘'
Loving can cost a lot but not loving always costs more, and those who fear to love often find that want of love is an emptiness that robs the joy from life.

Cost-benefit analysis
Any government economic project
Should involve cost-benefit analysis
Before implementation.
Calculation of cost must involve
Market survey cost, establishment cost, labor cost
Production cost, marketing cost and so forth.
Calculation of benefit must include
Financial benefit, social benefit
Political benefit and so on.
The governments should take into account
Whether there is skilled manpower
In the country to run the project or not?
They should also consider
The possibility of change
Of technology to be used
In near future in other countries.
Thus the viability of the project
Can be justified before implementation
In order to avoid wastage of money and time.

Warmth Into Frost
When you ignore your Heart
all that you do will never be enough
When we don't pay attention
to the wordless thoughts
it ain't so tough
to get caught up
and latch onto irrelevent stuff
...and what's the cost - what's the cost?
When you're playin' high stakes
Gambling with Fakes
and the world takes
your Warmth that burns
and turns it cold
like a Frost...What's the cost?
What's the cost
when
it couldn't be clearer
that the one in the mirror
is lost...?
IS ALL THE WORLD'S WARMTH
SLOWLY TURNING TO FROST? ?
