The Aliens Are Coming!

Yes, I know I'm just a poet and yet I'm quite sincere -
Just in case you didn't know it, the aliens are here!
I saw them leaving their spaceships, just like the Twilight Zone!
That's when they went on searching trips for me and me alone!
Of course, I ran when they saw me! I didn't stick around!
I didn't hide inside a tree - I hid beneath the ground!
Within a cave, where few have trod, I struggled to be safe...
From there, I prayed, in fear to God, somehow to make me brave!
I didn't feint, as some would do... and soon they went away...
So I was glad, I'm telling you, to live another day!
I told my Doctor who sat still and listened with a smile.
But then prescribed a purple pill that calmed me for a while.
The Mental Home has proved so nice... I've made so many friends.
I've met some aliens in disguise! More pills! It never ends!
My M.P. doesn't give a damn! It's time that he was sacked!
He's such a horrid little man! He also thinks I'm cracked...
My wife has been the worst of all! She sold the house last year!
While she's having herself a ball, the aliens love it here!

Praying To The Aliens

Slowly the thought
There is no one to replace
Came into view
And he began to cry
Now only boys
That love only boys
The perfect picture
Of a boy/girl age
Im praying to the aliens
Im praying to the aliens
Grey overcoat
And he could be anyone
A random poll check
Do you ever think of women?
They broke him down
Into a torn old queen
Living somewhere
Between dead and dying
Im praying to the aliens
Im praying to the aliens
There are no more
Do you begin to see?
The corner of my eye
Could give me away
Isnt it strange
How times change?
I cant imagine
Living any other way
Im praying to the aliens
Im praying to the aliens

We Are The Aliens

WE ARE THE ALIENS
We are the aliens we are trying to fight,
we are from other planets we see in the telescopes at night.
Don’t think we haven’t been there before,
we have lived many lives, maybe millions or more.
So try and make an illusion of aliens in outer space,
we are own aliens killing each other every day.

Adventures Of Isabel

Isabel met an enormous bear,
Isabel, Isabel, didn't care;
The bear was hungry, the bear was ravenous,
The bear's big mouth was cruel and cavernous.
The bear said, Isabel, glad to meet you,
How do, Isabel, now I'll eat you!
Isabel, Isabel, didn't worry.
Isabel didn't scream or scurry.
She washed her hands and she straightened her hair up,
Then Isabel quietly ate the bear up.
Once in a night as black as pitch
Isabel met a wicked old witch.
the witch's face was cross and wrinkled,
The witch's gums with teeth were sprinkled.
Ho, ho, Isabel! the old witch crowed,
I'll turn you into an ugly toad!
Isabel, Isabel, didn't worry,
Isabel didn't scream or scurry,
She showed no rage and she showed no rancor,
But she turned the witch into milk and drank her.
Isabel met a hideous giant,
Isabel continued self reliant.
The giant was hairy, the giant was horrid,
He had one eye in the middle of his forhead.
Good morning, Isabel, the giant said,
I'll grind your bones to make my bread.
Isabel, Isabel, didn't worry,
Isabel didn't scream or scurry.
She nibled the zwieback that she always fed off,
And when it was gone, she cut the giant's head off.
Isabel met a troublesome doctor,
He punched and he poked till he really shocked her.
The doctor's talk was of coughs and chills
And the doctor's satchel bulged with pills.
The doctor said unto Isabel,
Swallow this, it will make you well.
Isabel, Isabel, didn't worry,
Isabel didn't scream or scurry.
She took those pills from the pill concocter,
And Isabel calmly cured the doctor.

As A Species You Are Way Too Austere

The aliens have landed and to our surprise,
They are just like us not small with green eyes,
This is truly an awesome surprise,
They've assured us we have nothing to fear.

They went to our leaders for a conversation,
Which didn't exactly fill them with elation,
We argued over who was the leading nation,
The in fighting became very severe.

Instead of us giving them a welcome greeting,
We decided to have an internal meeting,
This started a debate about who was cheating,
Everyone was so insincere,

This was our visitors first impression,
Our leaders arguing in a violent session,
Seeing Humans filled with raw aggression,
Didn't exactly endear.

Who is in charge here the Aliens asked,
We need to know who has been tasked,
With getting your present problems unmasked,
As we stand it is not very clear.

Once again we Humans started to fight,
We were arguing about who was wrong or right,
The aliens concluded we were not very bright,
They said, ‘' Let's get the Hell out of here ‘'

We're sorry we're afraid, but we must look elsewhere,
Where we come from fighting is extremely rare,
For yourself and others you don't seem to care,

You really love to besmear.
From a neutral standpoint it has to be said,
You Human Beings are all off your head,
We are going to speak to the dolphins instead,

Didnt Know

Didn't know what you had
Until you lost it
Didn't know what you own
Until you got it
Didn't know of your sins
Until you fought it.
Didn't know what you needed
Until you sought it.

Didn't know your lies
Until someone spoke them
Didn't know of the truth
Until someone wrote them
Didn't remembered your dreams
Until someone awoke them
Didn't know they died
Until someone chocked them.

Didn't know you had guilt
Until you cried
Didn't know you felt sadness
Until you tried to hide
Didn't know you felt shame
Until you lied
Didn't know you believed in GOD
Until you asked him why.

Didn't know you felt sorrow
Until you shed a tear
Didn't know that you were scared
Until I saw your fear
Didn't know that you hated
Until you were near
Didn't know that you were unhappy
Until you looked in a mirror.

Didn't know who you truly were
Until your ways you sewed
Didn't know that you were evil
Until the truth was showed
Didn't know you did this before
Until I saw all of your woe
Didn't know who you really were
Though I wished then I did know.

Didn't I

I didn't realise that you were someone else
Until it was too late
So fooled by your disguise, carried away
I thought you were my friend
But things change and you along with them
Gone are the days when we laughed through the night
And it will never be the same
I said it wouldn't last forever didn't I, didn't I
Don't want to say I told you so but didn't I
I gave you all my heart and soul and didn't I cry
Bus somewhere deep in your heart, deep down inside
I got to you
Oh baby didn't I
We made no promises, we lived for every moment
Together come what may
What need was there to lie, for heaven's sake
I love you anyway
But things change and time heals the wounded
Where there was pain there's a scar on my heart
Now I can't look at you the same
I said it wouldn't last forever didn't I, didn't I
Don't want to say I told you so but didn't I
I gave you all my heart and soul and didn't I cry
Bus somewhere deep in your heart, deep down inside
I got to you
Oh baby didn't I

The Real Aliens

We are all aliens
One way or the other
Seeing through different eyes
The things around us
Feeling differently
Towards each other
Fighting like aliens
In this world of
Ours ever since
The dawn of mankind
Aliens we are indeed
In our own world
Like wolves in sheep's clothings
We are cloaked as the human race
But in the core are the aliens
Divided and seething over
Every concern like
Where to live, what to eat
Who to wed and even
Who to offer our prayers to

I Didn't Mean To Turn You

Let you take me out
I knew what you were all about
But when I did
I wasn't tryin' to lead you on

Now you bring me home
And tell me goodnight's
Not enough for you
I'm sorry baby
I didn't mean to turn you on

You read me wrong
I wasn't trying to lead you on
I want a friend
I didn't mean to turn you on

I didn't mean to turn you on

I know you
Expected a one night stand
When I refused
I knew you wouldn't understand

Boy I told you twice
I was only tryin' to be nice
Only tryin' to be nice
Oh
I didn't mean to turn you on
Oh I didn't mean to turn you on

Turn you on

Tell me why should I
Feel guilty cause I won't give
Guilty cause I won't give in
I didn't mean to turn you on

[repeat chorus]

You think that I'm a fool
Cause I wouldn't play by your rules

(I didn't mean to turn you on)

You don't stand a chance
All I want to do is dance with you

(I didn't mean to turn you on)

I told you twice
I was only tryin' to be nice

(I didn't mean to turn you on)

I loved you for a friend
But I guess this is the
End of our relationship
Cause I didn't mean to turn you on

I didn't mean to turn you on
Sorry.

Alien, Poor Alien

Introduction:
For centuries now Aliens have visited Earth we assume to study our culture. Then way back in 1958, Sheb Wooley in America told us about a strange little Alien who came to earth to join our culture and play Rock and Roll. His name was the Purple People Eater. His story was continued by J P Richardson (The Big Bopper) in Purple People Eater Meets The Witch Doctor. It seemed now that the Aliens were getting into the swing of things. Of course, that didn’t last long and they went back to observing us. Trawling through some of my lost files the other day I found that the purple guy wasn’t the only one who wanted to play Rock and Roll. There was another one who will remain nameless for contract reasons and latent sex appeal, and this is his story I am about to recount. He visited us in the late 1970’s.

David Harris - 13 September 2009

There stands the ragged troubadour
dusty guitar in his hands
serenading the crowd
gathering around the hot dog van.
He persists between the jeers, yells
and insults thrown at him.
Then he tried to pass the plate
only to have it tossed back again.

Next he tried the cinema queue
the taxman had hit them hard;
serenading wasn’t easy
to a group from the Palace guard.
Their bayonets were at the ready
and boy they were sharp.
Oh how he wished he brought a band
with soloist on a harp.

Last, he tried the bingo hall,
but they didn’t want to know
leaving like a Buffalo heard
trampled him into the snow.
By now he’d had enough,
no more could he stand
and went back to his saucer
stamped made in Japan.

Alien, poor Alien
didn’t he know
Earth is no place to land
to join a Rock and Roll show.

First Time

When I look at you
Baby I'm amazed after we've been through
All that I can say is there is no perfect plan and no finish line
We just learn to fall and get back dark inside
Didn't think we make it so glad
We didn't break up now we're good together and stronger than before

[Chorus:]
It's not complicated
And I wanna celebrate it
Cause we did it like a first time
When you walk into the room man
I can't believe we made it
When all around this love is fading
When you look into my eyes
It feels like a first time again

We stood out on the bridge
And everywhere in between
Pushed it to the edge
Ain't never lost your faith
You proved that we were strong
And I'm glad you did
There's something that I can't believe I couldn't miss
We don't have to try hard now that we've come ?? where just living
But on the other side of this

[Chorus]

You wanna know but now
I do it all again
If they would leave me too
All that I have is you
Oh
Do....

Didn't think we make it so glad
We didn't break up now we're good together and stronger than before

A Pink Dream

Rio sunrise sucking on a straw
I rub my head and stagger out the door
And head into the bright new beautiful day
And the way she pulls me in
Sucks my breath away i asked her for some time
And she just made me it
I asked her maybe why?
And she just gave me it never smile
Never stare
She doesn't seem to care at all
Never cry
Never scream
She doesn't really seem to need me at all
Fourteen weeks i stay away from home
A hundred days a part of me unknown
Apart in pink and perfect moments play
And as a wonder of the world
She sucks my breath away
I asked her for some time
And she just made me it
I asked her maybe why?
And she just gave me it
So i asked her could be heaven?
And she just prayed me it...
She didn't want to know my name
She didn't want to know how long we had together
Spending time as if tomorrow never comes
I didn't want to know the end
I didn't want to go but slowly found me home again
And slow again tomorrow comes
But it was all so far away
And so long ago
I hardly ever think about her anymore
Except sometimes when the summer twilight breeze
Carries me the scent of faraway rain
I remember...
And she still sucks my breath away

Winters Over

I made it through.
Another winters over.
She was bitter.
At one point I didn't know if I could make it.
Yet I did.

I made it through.
Another winters over.
She was bitter.
At one point I didn't know if I could make it.
Yet I did.

Time for some repairs.
Make it even better for the next year.
I must be prepared.
For the harsh realities that bring so much despair.

I made it through.
Another winters over.
She was bitter.
At one point I didn't know if I could make it.
Yet I did.

I made it through.
Another winters over.
She was bitter.
At one point I didn't know if I could make it.
Yet I did.

Stipping off all these cloths.
I was so overloaded.
Like a snake I'm shedding my skin.
Replacing it with something better then.
Putting out my sign soon.
Home made and hand crafted.
So green all I used was my surroundings.

I made it through.
Another winters over.
She was bitter.
At one point I didn't know if I could make it.
Yet I did.

I made it through.
Another winters over.
She was bitter.
At one point I didn't know if I could make it.
Yet I did.

Still their is no single silver bullet when it comes to life.
No antidote to some difficulties.
Sometimes you must face things headon with a little sweat and hardwork maybe you'll come out on top.
Provide a helping hand to those who still have not.
Just because your better off doesn't mean so is everyone else.

You Didn’t See

You didn’t see
the love in my eyes
and the hurt you caused
with your little lies.
You didn’t see
the breaking of my heart
every time you came home
and said we would have to part.
You didn’t see
what you were doing to me
as you spun your web of deceit
or how my life would ebb away
the minute you were gone.
You didn’t see
or didn’t want to see
how much you were hurting me.
How much love
you were willing just to toss away.
You didn’t see
until it was too late.

Didn't You Know

(nickolas ashford/valerie simpson)
Remember when you left?
You had your own rules about playing the game
And any day, you could walk away feeling no pain
Now look at yourself
You're all hung up on somebody else
And in your eyes i see all the signs of the misery
That you laid on me
Baby, baby
Didn't you know you'd have to cry sometime?
Didn't you know
Didn't you know you'd have to hurt sometime?
Didn't you know that you'd lose your pride?
Didn't anybody tell you love had another side?
You used to be so proud
Now, your head's a little lower
And you walk slower
And you don't talk so loud
You've gotten wise
You know how love can build you up one moment
And the next, cut you down to size
Then you discover
All she told you was a bunch of lies
Baby, baby
Didn't you know you'd have to cry sometime?
Didn't you know
Didn't you know you'd have to hurt sometime?

I didn't telephone a.m.
as you'd be having breakfast then.

I didn't telephone at noon
for fear you might be lunching soon.

I didn't telephone p.m.
I thought you might be sleeping and

I didn't telephone at 8
for dinner in your house is late.

I didn't telephone at 9
for fear this may be T.V. time.

I didn't telephone today
as time just seemed to slip away.

This Time Around

It's getting colder in this ditch where I lie
I'm feeling older and I'm wondering why
I heard they told her it was tell and live or die
I didn't know her but I know why she lied
I didn't know her but I know why she died
Yeah

You can't say I didn't give it
I won't wait another minute
We're on our way this time around
Whoa yeah
You can't say I didn't give it
I won't wait another minute
We're on our way this time around
Yeah
And we won't go down
Yeah

I heard them say that dreams should stay in your head
Well I feel ashamed of the things that I've said
Put on these chains and you can live a free life
Well I'd rather bleed just to know why I died

Yeah

You can't say I didn't give it
I won't wait another minute
We're on our way this time around
Whoa yeah
You can't say I didn't give it
I won't wait another minute
We're on our way this time around
Whoa yeah

And we won't go down
And we won't go down
And we won't go down
Yeah
And we won't go down
Yeah

All I know is that fear has got to go
This time around
...This time around

I've started feeling like I don't want to fight
Give in to the given and put out the light
Cannons a blazing shower these moonlit skies
Then I remember and I know why he died
Do you know why I'd die
Yeah.

You can't say I didn't give it
I won't wait another minute
We're on our way this time around
Whoa yeah
You can't say I didn't give it
I won't wait another minute
We're on our way this time around
Whoa yeah

You can't say I didn't give it
I won't wait another minute
We're on our way this time around
Whoa yeah
You can't say I didn't give it
I won't wait another minute

And we won't go down

Tell me a moment with me that was hard to bear
Tell me when I was fake

Tell me I treated you like a child
Tell me a time I couldn't make you smile
Tell me a time I didn't miss you
Tell me I never kissed you
Tell me a time I used you
Tell me a time I abused you
