And Drove Straight On
The sign on the roadside said,
detour here to find love.
Beside it was an advertisement
for the latest Frankenstein film.
The romantic mood of Dr Frank
just around the corner.
I ignored the detour
and drove straight on.

Detour
Sometimes we take a detour
off the well trodden path,
it leads us to a place
that we never wanted to go,
but when we get there,
the place isn’t as bad,
as we expected it to be,
and of the detour we think
we should have taken it before.

If Love Is Strong
We always take a detour
when there is a rocky road ahead,
but with love you never know
when it is right to take a detour.
You have to wade through
every coming storm,
hoping everything will turn out right.
If love is strong,
the storm will be a small squall,
with calmer waters
on the other side.
While you are in it
be prepared for a rough ride
until the storm recedes,
and peace is restored once more.

Rain Showers
It’s funny how
Two hearts in love
Aren’t bothered by much
Not only a little rain
Will ever detour them
Continuously walking
As the little drops fall
Soaked but that don’t stop
Running in puddles, splashing
Not giving a care in the world
After a too short while
The rain stalls and ends
As if they just swam
They walk to an open area
And begin to slowly dance
As they hold the clouds fade
A warm sun ray
Shines down on them
Drying out the wet earth
And warming their hearts
It’s just so funny how
Two hearts in so much love
Aren’t even bothered by the rain
Not much could detour them
So concentrated on one another

Direct To The Point
when the sun lights the grass
there is no detour
it likes it done directly like a
candid shot of
margarita
i like it that way too
straight to my
mouth sliding smoothly into my
throat
there are no rocks that block
my river
no 'on the other hand' or 'what ifs'
that grow in my path
i like it when you tell me
straight from the heart
i like this pain that stabs me right
my eyes not blinking

For every failure, there's an alternative course of action. You just have to find it. When you come to a roadblock, take a detour.

What It Is
Learning is making mistakes.
Even in detour, there will be something unique for you to find out.
Smile.
Follow
Never had a spanner on her
Says she sees it straight
Never took the detour
Always licks her plate
Got a sticky finger
On someone I know
Best of everything now
See the money roll
Stupid people I wont follow
Build a better country
Fight a war or two
You always need something
Just to get you through
Ten times I shouted at him
Say it over again again
Words just melt around you
Youre like a pig in a pen

And even Moonstruck - for some reason the audience were just in the mood for a very romantic film, because it's one of the few romantic comedies to be nominated for a Best Picture Oscar.

Anything Romantic To Say
I sat down to write
a romantic poem
confessing I love you.
However, I guess I’m not
in a romantic mood today,
as I couldn’t find
anything romantic to say.
The words it seems
have left my head,
which only leaves me
one thing to do,
and that is to go to bed.

My Cheeks Do Not Turn
Returning back what I get,
Seems to offend the ones...
Who possess selective memories kept,
In their archives of thoughtless actions.
To conveniently forget as is often done,
By those who have a knack...
To excuse everything they do,
On the dysfunctions of their childhood.
And this 'defect' is fed to THEIR children,
To accept as a custom as a family heirloom given.
You do me...
You will get done!
That's it!
I apologize for the detour.
But that's how it is.
And always there is a parent to blame,
Who either smothered them with strictness...
Or did not supply them with enough love.
However,
My empathy given does not extend to include...
Forgiveness to anyone wishing to use me,
To later express a pathetic childhood lived.
I don't carry around a box of tissue.
Detour number two...
I am into Brahms and Beethoven.
And a little Mozart.
But sobbing tears with strings,
To crescendo gradually in the background...
As one attempts to defend what they've done?
No!
I am not a part of that audience.
Especially when one has aged with maturity OR not,
To be held accountable for those misdeeds...
Consciously done to others to do to forget.
You do me...
You will get done!
That's it!
My cheeks do not turn.
But I am told I walk with a switch,
By those who mistake my proudness for something else.
And I don't spend time looking at myself from behind.
Even if I could do it I wouldn't.
My footsteps and eyes are focused forward.
Obviously some have their eyes fixed elsewhere.

Is better reflect spontaneously
To the west «hasten slowly»
Detour of east roads …
Is better reflect spontaneously,
Than to hoot at irony Gate …
