A Baby With His Whiskers On (Fun Poem 115)
One day a gypsy came to the door
selling a sprig of heather.
Cross my palm with silver
and I’ll make your wish come true.
I gave some silver coins
and she gave me a green and purple pill.
“Take this last thing at night
and tomorrow your wish will be granted.”
I took her green and purple pill
just as she had instructed.
Next morning I awoke still with my whiskers on,
but my poor wife almost had fit
thinking she’d had a baby in the night.
The magic had changed me rapidly
and now I looked only three.
My wish had been to look younger,
it had come very true,
and the magic had turned me
back to the age of three.
My wife was all fingers and thumbs
wondering just what to do.
How was she going to take me out,
a baby of three with his whiskers on?
I looked like her grandson
and not her husband o f many years.
Even I began to wonder how long
it would take before the magic wore off.
Days moved into weeks
and a baby with his whiskers on
I remained to be.
People took photos of me
not quite believing what they saw.
One day my wife took me to the park
and around in the grass I crawled,
a baby with his whiskers on wearing a nappy.
Then suddenly and without warning,
I came back to my normal age.
Now everybody stared at me,
a man in his sixties in the park with only a nappy on.
I managed to get home
without being arrested,
but had to stay in the car until after dark
in case anyone saw me go in.
The moral of this story,
be careful what you wish for,
as the consequences will not
be exactly what you think
and never take
any green and purple pills from a gypsy.

Im The Cat
Baby, Im around you enough to know when youre coming down
And I am there with a smile, prepared to bring you around
Youre thinking that youve got me trained
Im aware of that
But when you need your outlook changed
Baby, Im the cat
Baby, Im allowed to be late when Im coming home
You know Ill be there when I want to
And you let me roam
You think youve got me figured out
I dont know about that
But when you want to twist and shout
Baby, Im the cat
Baby, I might not be all that
Your fortune cookie promised you
But I will do
Im the cat
Baby I . . . baby Im the cat
Oh yeah . . . baby Im the cat
Baby, Im in love with the way you scratch my back
Youve got the only thing I want
And thats a fact
And when sometimes we disagree
You take me to the mat
But when I get you spinning free
Baby Im the cat
Baby, I might not be all that
The gypsy woman prophesized
But be advised
Im the cat
Baby I might not be all that
Your magic 8 ball said Id be
But you will see
Im the cat
Baby I . . . baby Im the cat
Oh yeah . . . baby Im the cat

It Must Be You
The sun is shining, its everywhere
Dont have no worry, dont have no care
It must be true, this is the season
Baby it must be you
It was raining the other day
But that lonely feeling has gone away
It must be true, its so pleasing
It must be you
Thats what they say, in those old storybooks of old
You light my way and you satisfy my soul
It must be magic, it must be love
Oh what could I have been thinking of
Its the reason Im feeling so blue
It must be you
Well thats what they say, in those old storybooks of old
You light my way and you satisfy my soul
It must be magic, it must be bliss
Oh it must be rain on a night like this
It must be true, thats the reason I think
It must be you
It must be you
Baby, baby, baby, baby, baby, baby, baby, baby, baby, baby, baby, baby
Baby, b-b-b-b-b-b-baby
It must be you
I really do believe, it must be you
Baby, baby, I really do believe, really do believe, really do believe.

Got a black magic woman
Got a black magic woman.
I got a black magic woman
Got me so blind I cant see
That shes a black magic woman
Shes tryin to make a devil out of me.
Turn your back on me baby
Turn your back on me baby.
Yes, dont turn your back on me baby
Stop messin round with your tricks
Dont turn your back on me baby
You just might pick up my magic sticks.
Got your spell on me baby
Got your spell on me baby.
Yes you got your spell on me baby

Magic Of Love
Ooh! hey, hey, now!
Alright,
You went away, had your chance to say
"i love you and i need you baby"
Yeah, but even if
Honey, i told you daddy now
You wouldn't believe me anyway, no, no, no.
Maybe you will now,
I've changed a lot somehow,
Let me prove what i say.
Come back and believe my love,
Please! now, come back, babe, and believe my love,
Won't you come back, and believe the magic of love.
Oh, i want the light without the darkness
I want the sky without the sun, yeah!
When do the stars and the moon reach out ?
When they see me alone without my loved one, yeah!
Oh, now baby, don't you hear me,
Won't-t-t-t-t-t-t you hear me i gotta, gotta, gotta, gotta, gotta tell you,
Oh baby, baby, baby, baby, baby,
Honey, i just gotta tell you now,
Honey, i wanna tell you that i want you to dig it!
Now if you believe in magic,
Don't be afraid, afraid to use it, baby,
No, no, no, no, no, no, come on home
Dressed in the mystic silk
Or wearing rich rags and waste
Darling, please!
Come on back to me
I know we can be
Part of a magic race.
Come back, and believe my love
Come back, please believe my love
Come back and believe the magic of love.
Hey! now come back, babe, and believe my love
Come back, please believe my love
Come back and believe the magic of love.

Magic Bus
Every day I get in the queue (too much, magic bus)
To get on the bus that takes me to you (too much, magic bus)
Im so nervous, I just sit and smile (too much, magic bus)
You house is only another mile (too much, magic bus)
Thank you, driver, for getting me here (too much, magic bus)
Youll be an inspector, have no fear (too much, magic bus)
I dont want to cause no fuss (too much, magic bus)
But can I buy your magic bus? (too much, magic bus)
Nooooooooo!
I dont care how much I pay (too much, magic bus)
I wanna drive my bus to my baby each day (too much, magic bus)
I want it, I want it, I want it, I want it ... (you cant have it!)
Thruppence and sixpence every day
Just to drive to my baby
Thruppence and sixpence each day
cause I drive my baby every way
Magic bus, magic bus, magic bus ...
I said, now Ive got my magic bus (too much, magic bus)
I said, now Ive got my magic bus (too much, magic bus)
I drive my baby every way (too much, magic bus)
Each time I go a different way (too much, magic bus)
I want it, I want it, I want it, I want it ...
Every day youll see the dust (too much, magic bus)
As I drive my baby in my magic bus (too much, magic bus)

One time love, take care how you use it
Try to make it last all night, and if you take your pick
Be careful how you choose it, sometimes its hard to feel it bite
Feel it bite.
A man I know, went down to louisiana,
Had himself a bad, bad fight
And when the sun peeked through
John cameron with suzanna,
He kissed the whiskers, left & right
Whiskers!
Now, now, now, fright subsides
Out at a hotel in the quarter, our friends check in to pass the night
Now love gets hot, but fire preceded water
Poor whiskers set the room alight.
Whiskers!
Down on bourbon street, you know its right
You can see my friend, they run around all through the night
Most everywhere, until the closets bare
Run for the razor, doin up my hair
New orleans queens, sure know how to schmooze it
Maybe for some that seems alright
When I step out, strut down with my sugar
Shed best not talk like barry white!
One time love, take care how you use it
Try to make it last all night, and if you take your pick
Be careful how you choose it, sometimes its hard to feel it bite
Feel it bite.

Work That Magic
Only you...
(talk):
And the man and woman fall in love
And its magic...pure magic!
(work that magic)
All alone
On a night like this
With nothing to do
But think about you
Under the moon
Two lovers kiss
And all I can do
Is think about you
I fall in love with you
Day after day after day
Baby in new york heartbeat
A herd of wild horses
Could not keep me away
And thats no promise
Thats a guarantee
(chorus):
Without your
My heart is frantic
Distant love can become tragic
When we touch
Its so romantic
Only you can work that magic
Only you...can work that magic (x3)
In my heart
I hold your hand
Im gonna be true
So true to you baby
And Ive decided
To make a love stand
Next to you, right next to you baby
I fall in love with you (etc)
(chorus)
When the night
Comes closing in
Be there for me, be there baby
Well sail away
To a magic land
Stay forever...stay forever
Tenderly you call my name
Turned my heart into a burning flame
(chorus)
Without you
My heart is frantic
When we touch
Its so romantic
So romantic
Cmon now...work it
Work that magic (x4)

Well Take The Night
Roy orbison/will jennings/j.d.souther
Baby its hard sometimes to wake and face this life everyday.
Sometimes its bad enough to stop and through the good all away.
Tonight lets put the world aside and let go toghether.
The night is one place we can hide in each others arms.
Dream on forever.
Come on baby, and well take the night.
While the stars are willing and the moon is right.
Dreams are shining in a magic light.
Come with me,oh well take the night.
You and me,oh well take the night.
Baby, well take the night.
Look up and let the night unfold.
Hold on to the feeling.
Reach out and let it touch your soul.
And give in to love, love is believing.
Come on baby, and well take the night.
While the stars are willing and the moon is right.
Dreams are shining in a magic light.
Come with me,oh well take the night.
You and me,oh well take the night.
If everystar should fall.
And tomorrow lose all meaning.
We would still have had it all.
Its locked away inside our hearts.
There for the dreaming.
Come on baby, and well tale the night.
While the stars are willing and the moon is bright.
Dreams are shining in the magic light.
Come with me,oh well take the night.
You and me, oh well take the night.
Come on baby, and well take the night.
While the stars are willing and the moon is bright.
Dream are shining in a magic light.
Come with me, oh well take the night.
You and me,yeah well take the night.

The Magic Of The Green And Blues
The magic of the green and blues, a view
Turtle doves in flight in purple night, they flew
Tragic plight a fight, now imagine me its true
Green and blue, blue and green
No matter to you but to me
The blue is woe and envy is green
It has to be, this way it seems, to me
Did I fall, commit a crime or lie, no
But miss misery makes my eyes glow
Through the blues and greens
A future is foreseen, by my eyes but for me
I stand tall above you all and truth I see
The magic of the green and blues, a view
Turtle doves in flight in purple night, they flew
Tragic plight a fight, now imagine me its true
Green is me and blue miss misery
She the only one to have a hold of me,
Unhappy together but with clarity forever

Stripe Me Pink
We have to be careful
with whatever we say
as it might happen to us one day.
I knew a fellow once
who had a saying that entered
into every conversation that he made.
He would say quite loudly,
well, stripe me pink.
One day he woke up
and found he was striped pink
but the joker didn’t stop there,
he gave him green and purple spots as well.
He went to his doctor
who was quite mystified
with having a man come into his surgery
with pink stripes and green and purple spots.
He asked what he had been eating,
nothing unusual the fellow replied.
The doctor frowned
feeling there was nothing he could do
told him to go home and rest until it wore off.
The days passed and a month went by
but the stripes and spots remained.
Off he trotted back to see the doctor again
who shook his head saying
there was nothing he could do
as is looks like the stripes and the dots are permanent.
The only suggest I can make
is that you get clothes the very same colour
then no one will ever know
which is the clothes and which is you.
So the next time you utter something ridiculous
be careful what you are saying
as you might end up wearing it
until your dying day.

Is The Magic Still There
Written by randy owen, teddy gentry, and ronnie rogers
Chorus:
Is the magic still there whenever I hold you
Do these lips of mine send chills down your spine like they used to
Or is it slipping away, baby come out and say, Im asking because I care
I just need to know is the magic still there
Oh I still recall our first time together
Oh we kissed and we touched, we couldnt get enough of each other
And when we said goonight beneath that old porch light it left us wanting more
But Im wondering now if time has somehow changed what we felt before
Chorus
Am I still the one that you daydream of
When we turn out the light is there fire in the night when we make love
Dont want to take you for granted so baby Im askin only because I care
I just want to know
Is the magic still there whenever I hold you
Do these lips of mine send chills down your spine like they used to
Or is it slipping away, baby come out and say, Im asking because I care
I just need to know is the magic still there
Is the magic still there, is the magic still there

Rescue
i stayed out late last night.
Nothin' I could drink to help me drink you off my mind
And everywhere I looked
Oooooo I saw your face
And I wonder
And I wonder
If there still might be
A little space in your heart for me
'Cause I'm so cold
I'm so alone
And I miss you babe
[Chorus]
So won't you come to my rescue
Shake this pain from my soul
And take this fool back in your heart baby
I'll go crazy if you don't
'Cause I'm a mess here without you
Ain't no pill for this pain
So please, please come to my rescue baby
Make it right away
I was a fool to leave
Leave behind everything
That meant everything to me
Every day and night
Mmmmmm my heart pays the price
And I'm out here
Stranded
Out here
On this lonely road
I'm so lost
Won't you lead me home
I need you back
Baby one more chance
And I miss you babe
[Chorus]
So won't you come to my rescue
Shake this pain from my soul
And take this fool back in your heart baby
I'll go crazy if you don't
'Cause I'm a mess here without you
Ain't no pill for this pain
So please, please come to my rescue baby
Make it right away
I'm drowning baby
I need you
To save me
I need you to save me, yeah
Don't leave me like this
Throw me a line, baby one more time
[Chorus]
So won't you come to my rescue
Shake this pain from my soul
And take this fool back in your heart baby
I'll go crazy if you don't
'Cause I'm a mess here without you
Ain't no pill for this pain
So please, please come to my rescue baby
Make it right away
Make it right away
Make it right away

Gypsy's Wife
And where, where, where is my Gypsy wife tonight
I've heard all the wild reports, they can't be right
But whose head is this she's dancing with on the threshing floor
whose darkness deepens in her arms a little more
And where, where is my Gypsy wife tonight?
Where, where is my Gypsy wife tonight?
Ah the silver knives are flashing in the tired old cafe
A ghost climbs on the table in a bridal negligee
She says, "My body is the light, my body is the way"
I raise my arm against it all and I catch the bride's bouquet
And where, where is my Gypsy wife tonight?...
Too early for the rainbow, too early for the dove
These are the final days, this is the darkness, this is the flood
And there is no man or woman who can't be touched
But you who come between them will be judged
And where, where is my Gypsy wife tonight

What is Purple?
Purple is a mystery.
Purple is happiness.
Purple is home.
Purple is a sanctuary.
And Purple is my own.
A little place in my mind.
A little sunshine in my day.

And Purple is magic.

Madi Gras
Madi Gras
Three wise men followed the light
From a star in the night, shinning bright
12 days later the manger was found
Where the baby was born
Gifts of frankincense and myrrh
Were given to the newborn King
From the wise men
Then the party was on
Time to Mardi Gras
Celebrate with beads
Bangles
Flashing’ boobies
That seem to come
With the spirits of beer, wine, and whiskey
Along with the Mardi Gras colors
Purple, green, and gold
That represent faith, power, and justice
Justice is purple
Power is gold
Faith is green
The duration of the Mardi Gras party
Lasts for six 6 weeks
Until Fat Tuesday
Come Ash Wednesday
We put the party away
For another 6 weeks,
To participate in Lent
Until Easter Sunday
When Jesus was born again
At that time we celebrate once more
By coloring eggs to hide
That are sometimes purple, green, and gold
Put in a basket to be sold
With ribbons, candy, plastic grass
And toys, for all the girls and boys
Somewhere inside we all have faith,
This is true
For there is a star, in the night
That still, shines bright

Metal Magic
When they say dont look back
Do what they say
You gotta look ahead
To a better day
In a world of metal magic
You need a break
Go forth
Take a chance
Make no mistake
Metal magic
Metal magic
Metal magic
Metal magic
They say you cant go back
Oh so true
When youre a rocker baby
You gotta pay your dues
In a world of metal magic
Magic never ends
Sometimes you lose
And sometimes you win
Metal magic
Metal magic
Metal magic
Metal magic
Lost in the metal magic
It never ends

Sometimes you win

Make A Little Magic
I dont need the same excuses
All this talk is really useless
You run for cover
Everytime Im close to you
Dont want to hear about the others
Theres something here we should discover
Lets make a little magic
Before the night is through
Oh, youve seen it all before
And heard the same lines,
But if youre willing to take a chance
It could be all right, so fine
Well find ourselves dancing by firelight.
So dont you try to change the subject
Or try to put yourself above it,
A boy could get pneumonia sitting next to you
Thats true
A little sleep is all were losing
Its up to us to do the choosing
Lets make a little magic before the night is through
Make a little magic before the night is through
Ooh, to the blue skies
Where no one can reach us
It may sound crazy but just hold on tight,
Never has a love run deeper
Baby my heart is true
Baby my heart is true
A little sleep is all were losing
Its up to us to do the choosing
Lets make a little magic before the night is through
