The Silver Dollar
You gave me something, grandpa
A coin of silver - flat and round
But it doesn't whirr or whistle
It cannot make a sound
It is not marked with 'China'
On a toy that is a must
It only bears this simple line
'U.S.A In God We Trust'
This thing you gave me grandpa
Of this there is no doubt
It doesn't laugh and giggle
When I push it in and out
It has no pretty colors
No buttons or a bow
It makes no noise or vibrate
No volume 'high' or 'low'
So of what good is it grandpa
This shiny little thing?
What fun will come with having it
What laughter will it bring?
I tell you this, my loving one
My grandchild oh so dear
The truth about this silver coin
That you might wish to hear
Now take up the silver coin
Travel back in time with me
And think of those who owned it
In your mind now can you see?
To touch the silver dollar
And to make the feeling last
Is to touch all those who held it
And to touch the history past
To hold it and to feel it
Is to hold the spirits trapped therein
To think of where it lingered
And to wonder where its been
When we think of those who owned it
Then we think of those who tried
To give you all you wish for
From the toil for which they died
Well, I'll tell you of this silver coin
And how it comes to you
From a mine in Colorado
Or the mountains of Peru
Perhaps it's silver touched The Inca
Upon his emerald crown
Or was inlaid in the Spanish sword
That brought the empire down
Valley Forge or Flanders Field
Or perhaps on Concord Green
At Shiloh Church or Gettysburg
Who knows what the silvers' seen?
The silver out of which it's made
It self has witnessed much
But then a coin from it was made
And again felt history's touch
On a birthday or a Christmas
Perhaps it bought a little toy
And delighted those who got it
A little frontier girl or boy
A whiskey for a cowboy
In some small Texas town
Who had to wash away the trail dust
So he laid this dollar down
A Yank or Rebel soldier
Might have held it in his hand
A groom may have used this dollar
To buy his loved one's wedding band
It may just have been there
That day when all seemed lost
When fire rained down on Hawaii's Pearl
Perhaps this dollar saw the cost
Of what use is this silver coin?
Oh, my princess, don't you see?
That what I give you with this gift
Is a piece of history

Silver Dollar
I shouldve known you couldnt take it
You had to make it with another man
You know thats true baby
And I can play that game if you can
Its been a long time since Ive come here
To give you what you need
My roots are in chicago
But I know where I want to plant my seed
I bet a silver dollar youd love another
And you know that silver dollar, it would make me rich
Girl like you, easy pitch
But I miss you now youre gone
Im coming home girl just to show you
Whats this mans been living for
A tip for you, dont be surprised baby
When I come busting through that door
I bet a silver dollar youd love another
And even though that silver dollar would make me rich
I want to tell you that there is a hitch
I miss you know youre gone
And all I got left is my old guitar

Where I find a treasure-trove?
A Dollar coin stuck in my sticky wallet
And I salute the face that engraved on the coin,
The sixth President of the United States of America
Mr.John.Quincy.Adams who resembles my benevolent maternal grandpa.
I would like to Scratch a lottery to build up my treasury
But I am scared that I'll loose the coin which guards my magical wallet(notes fly & coins remain) since a long time.

Queen Of The Silver Dollar
(shel silverstein)
She arrives in all her splendor
Each night at nine oclock
Her chariot is the crosstown bus
That stops right down the block
Now the old piano minstrel plays her tune as she walks in
And the queen of the silver dollars home again
Shes the queen of the silver dollar
She rules this smokey kingdom
Scepter is a wine glass and a bar stool is her throne
Now the jesters flock around her tryin? to win her favors
To see which one will take the
Queen of the silver dollar home
Now her royal dress is satin
Its shabby and its torn
The royal jewels are rhinestones
The shoes are scuffed and worn
Of the many roads shes been down,
And the places that shes seen
Well they all look at her and say God save the queen
Now the queen of the silver dollar
Is not as haughty as she seems
She was once an ordinary girl with ordinary dreams
But theres a man who found her
And he brought her to this world
Hes the one who made a queen of a simple country girl
Yes Im the queen of the silver dollar
I rule this smokey kingdom
Scepter is a wine glass and a bar stool is my throne
Now the jesters flock around me tryin to win my favors
To see which one will take the
Queen of the silver dollar home
Yes Im the queen of the silver dollar
I rule this smokey kingdom
Scepter is a wine glass and a bar stool is my throne
Now the jesters flock around me tryin to win my favors
To see which one will take the
Queen of the silver dollar home

Jim’s Mad
While Sue was asleep on New Year’s Eve,
Skunky became a stealing creep,
he stole a silver corkscrew that was very cheap.
For it was only a dollar at the dollar store,
Skunky tried to say it was so much more.
Yes, he told his “made up lies” to Sue,
saying “it only came in the color of red or blue,
They don’t make the silver ones anymore.”
But that’s not what Jim said, as he shook his head.
“That’s absurd, Skunky should repent,
even if Skunky buys you another one blue or red.”
Skunky of course bought a corkscrew that was red,
and said “Italy only makes silver corkscrews, I do attest.”
Sue gave the corkscrew away, it would remind her of Skunky
and the games that he played.

Rich For Silver
From one voice a whistle is sounded,
The thirst of silver is allowed
So rich sounds and ideas are loud
Like the whistling noise I heard.
In my mind’s eye, a silver coin
Appears due to wages and health;
Here is where the money stops,
The replacement is huge, such as sound.
This real noise is sounding like a thought,
The thinkers quell these thoughts
Yet we are aware of these long substances,
In the eye of a soul, the rich soul.

Where's The Silver?
Colors, colors everywhere
Colors all around
Reds and purples and blues are there
But silver can't be found
I look around, and now I've found some yellows and some greens
I look until my eyes are sore, but silver can't be seen
I look unto the vibrant clouds, but there's no silver lining
Where is all the silver that the miners should be mining?
There are no silver bells a'ringing
The silver songbirds are not singing
The orange sun hangs in the air, but I can't find silver anywhere
I look for hours, look for days, look for silver anyplace
But there always seems to be another color in it's place
I've given up this useless search
There is no silver left to find
I dropp my head and start to cry
When out of my pocket falls a silver dime

The Untouchable
The black trouseau with its silvery sparkles
Inspires me to roll on.
But ho, i can't touch it.
A luminous silver coin charms me
Happily to use it.
But ho, i can't touch it.
A painted yellow plume with smudgy rouge
Ashed around desires me.
But ho, i can't touch it.
Dip dip, says a saphire stream
For me to feel replenished.
But ho, i can't touch it.
A glassy white spread burns me to blister.
I want to remove it.
But ho, i can't touch it.
Now this rain seeks to connect me
With those sky-clad scenarios.
But ho, they've bid me bye, bye.
Ho ho, untouchable welkin ever so, ever so.

Silver Needles
(ian hunter)
Youre just a stranger in the past
Just another mug that could never last
You came up slow but you burned out fast (didnt ya)
It aint silver needles on the run
No it aint silver needles on the run
It aint silver needles on the run
Shh you make me feel so bad
You thought you was the only one that got messed up
Me n all the others never had it so rough
Well how come youre dead and Im still stood up
Well it aint silver needles on the run
Silver needles on the run
No it aint silver needles on the run
Oh I remember....
All your plans were made on some pr floor
n all your bags were packed, they never reached the door.
Out ordering (? ) your thought exchange
All your brains were acting strange
You never lied in dreams before
There must be more to life than getting sore
(what do you think? )
I seen in some music paper that you was gone
And I went right out and wrote you a farewell song
Boy, they had you dead before you was born
And its a shame - you were such a great mover
But it aint silver needles on the run
No it aint silver needles on the run
Silver needles on the run
Silver needles on the run
Silver needles on the run
Silver needles on the run
(next)

Midnight Rider (feat. The Allman Brothers Band)
originally by Allman Brothers Band
Well, I've got to run to keep from hiding
And I'm bound to keep on riding
And I've got one more silver dollar
But I'm not gonna let them catch me, no
Not gonna let 'em catch the Midnight Rider
And I don't own the clothes I'm wearing
And the road goes on forever
And I've got one more silver dollar
But I'm not gonna let them catch me, no
Not gonna let 'em catch the Midnight Rider
And I've gone by the point of caring
Some old bed I'll soon be sharing
And I've got one more silver dollar
(Repeat three times and Fade)
But I'm not gonna let 'em catch me, no
Not gonna let them catch the Midnight Rider

Silver
There are clouds that hang
silver-grey in the air,
before the winter sun
gives its first rays
of a drawling day.
Silver-grey the Monday starts
and while the day’s hours
pass much to slowly,
I am summoned to the old chief
with his silver-grey hair.
One of the women clerks
who wants to be boss,
wants to push a silver knife
into a colleges back.
I leave them alone to count their silver pounds
and wash my hands in the bathroom,
with a silver ray of water that squirts out of the tap.

Coin
Maybe it is because of the fog
that I caress you,
because all around me are fog,
dissolved shapes, things lacking
precision or definition,
things that turn into some vague
something without dimension.
I caress you, coin.
Nightfall in December
and you here in my hand, you,
precisely contoured, you, hard
resistant existence
with your body of fine silver.
Coin
with a number that cannot be conquered
by doubt or by fog
and with a face
that will never doubt,
face of an ancient queen, looking at me.

The Coin And A Boy
THE COIN AND A BOY
WHY DO YOU LOOK SO UNHAPPY SONNY? A MAN ASKED A YOUNG LAD WHO HE MET ON THE WAY TO HIS STALL! AND THE BOY REPLIED THUS, SAYING, I LOST MY COIN, AND AS I CRIED, A MAN GAVE ME ANOTHER COIN! HE STATED, AND THE INQUISITIVE MAN ASKED AGAIN, IF THAT BE SO, THEN WHY DO YOU LOOK SO UNHAPPY STILL? AND THE BOY REPLIED, OH, NOW THAT I HAVE THIS COIN, IT WOULD HAVE BEEN TWO COINS WITH ME INSTEAD OF ONE, IF I HADNT LOST MY COIN! HE STATED

Silver
Slowly, silently, now the moon
Walks the night in her silver shoon;
This way, and that, she peers, and sees
Silver fruit upon silver trees;
One by one the casements catch
Her beams beneath the silvery thatch;
Couched in his kennel, like a log,
With paws of silver sleeps the dog;
From their shadowy cote the white breasts peep
Of doves in silver feathered sleep
A harvest mouse goes scampering by,
With silver claws, and silver eye;
And moveless fish in the water gleam,
By silver reeds in a silver stream.

Silver
Silver is a wonderful element,
A fierce wonder, much honoured;
And its help is great, forever,
And forever. I give in to silver.
For silver I take the number of days
To be many for the occupation of mine.
The silvered men and women
Are never the forgotten people;
So choose silver, and wise are you.
Silver is the best metal
Too hard to possess.
