A Coin Of Little Worth

I have seen and liked
silver coins stamped
in ancient Greece Rome

these usually carry the image
of supposedly great men
kings emperors face in profile

but their deeds were often
treacherous harsh cruel
wars these started for more
wealth slaves land to rule

my favourite coin
is a very small coin
tiny of little worth

that a woman with nothing
once gave at the temple
a very very long time ago

My Lord praised her
for giving all her livelihood
for giving more than

all gathered rich worshippers
combined because
proud rich gave a percentage

from all their amassed profit
a percentage calculated
based upon requirements of

law; but a poor woman gave
everything she had
based upon her own giving heart

it is written how Jesus sat down;
with the treasury chests in view
observing how the crowd dropped

money into the treasury chests;

many rich people were dropping in
many coins however a poor
widow woman dropped in only two

small coins which had very little value;

these coins became known as the widow's mite.

Jesus called his disciples and said to them

"Truly I say to YOU that this poor widow
dropped in more than all those dropping
money into the treasury chests; for they

all dropped in out of their surplus,
but she dropped in all of what
she had, her whole living." Mark 12: 41-44.

For the love of God.

Bible in Poetry: Gospel of St. Mark (Chapter 12)

Then Jesus spoke in parables again.
“A man had planted vineyard in his place;
He put a hedge around and dug wine-press;
He built a tower, leased it to farmers;
He then set off on journey to somewhere.
He sent a servant at the proper time
To get some produce from his place.
They beat him, sent him empty-handed back.

He sent another servant once again.
They beat him on his head and drove him back.
He sent another whom they had just killed;
Like-wise they did to many others too.
So, last of all, he sent his only son.
He thought, perhaps they will respect his son!
This time, those tenants told one another,
“Here comes the only heir. Let’s kill him too.
The inheritance will belong to us.”
So, seizing him, they killed too!

“What will the owner of the vineyard do?
He will then come, put all tenants to death.
And he will hand the vineyard to others.”
Have you not read what scriptures say?
“The stone, the builders rejected,
Became the principal cornerstone! ”
This has been done by Lord wonderfully;
They sought arresting him but feared the crowd.
Just then, He had told them a parable;
They left Him now and went away.

They sent some Pharisees, Herodians
To try ensnaring Him in His own speech.
They told, “O Teacher, we know you’re truthful;
You do not care about opinions;
You teach in accordance with truth alone;
“Must we pay Caesar census-tax or not? ”

“Why to test me? Bring me a denarius.
Whose image/ inscription are found?
They replied immediately, “That of Caesar’s! ”
So, Jesus said to them, “Repay Caesar
Whatev’r belongs to Caesar as per law,
And give to God whatev’r belongs to Him.
They were astonished by His great wisdom.

Some Sadducees then asked Him, “O teacher,
Then, Moses wrote that if one’s brother had died,
And leaving wife, without any children,
His brother must raise descendants through her!
The first of seven brothers got married;
His wife had no descendants when he died;
The second married her and also died,
And left no descendants; the third like-wise;
The seven married her in turn and died;
Without a child, the woman also died.

At resurrection, whose wife, will she be?
Then Jesus said to them, “Aren’t you misled?
You neither know scriptures nor God’s power.”
When people rise from dead, they’re angel-like;
They marry not, nor given in marriage;
As for the dead raised, God is of living;
He is not God of dead but of living;
He is the God of Abraham, Isaac, Jacob.

On seeing Jesus answer them so well,
A scribe asked, “What’s the first commandment then? ”
And Jesus said, “God is the Lord alone.
You love your God with heart, mind, soul and strength.”
The second is, “Love neighbor as yourself.”
There is no commandment greater than these.
The scribe agreed, “God’s one and only one.”
To love Him with your heart, mind, soul and strength
Is worth more than burnt off’rings / sacrifice.

Then Jesus said, “You’re not far from God’s kingdom.”
So, no one dared to ask Him more questions.
How do scribes claim Messiah as Son of David?
When David said, “The Lord said to my lord,
Sit till I place your foes under your feet.”
When David calls him ‘Lord’, how’s he, his son?

“Beware of scribes with robes so long,
Who accept greetings in market-places,
And seats of honor in all synagogues,
And places of honor at banquets too;
They devour houses of widows and then
Recite such lengthy prayers as pretext! ”
They will receive severe condemnation.

Jesus sat opposite the treasury,
And saw the crowd put money into it;
Rich people offer large sums of money;
A poor widow dropped in two coins worth cents.
And Jesus said, “Amen, I say to you,
The poor widow put more than all the rest!
The others gave their surplus wealth but she
Gave everything she had in poverty! ”

Train No: 6009

Mumbai Mail is a jail
causing me to pass through terrible ordeals
station by every small station,
where its hooting woke no one.
As if to bail me out of my strain
an old money lender with his wife
got in and sat opposite at Wadi.

Snacks galore!
Plate after plate
they were emptying
and driving away the beggars
by waving their hands,
when their harsh words
failed to keep them at bay.
In two, three places
they went out, gave sweet packets
to their kin who touched their feet
and blessed them by snuggling them close.

Poor women with babies,
children singing and dancng,
boys and girls cleaning the coach,
the flesh starved skeletons,
buffeted by illness,
the physically and mentally challenged……
Nobody got a coin or a measly food from them.
Giving alms might be a drain on their resources.
and a stain on their palms.
To cause a flutter in their hearts,
I slid down some coins
in the hands of the misfortune.
But the stubborn man
guided all the beggars towards me.

They dropped coins of high value
into the rivers Krishna and the Tungabadra
murmuring the name of some god.
But their coins didn’t slip down
into the river of suffering humanity.

The Widow At Windsor

'Ave you 'eard o' the Widow at Windsor
With a hairy gold crown on 'er 'ead?
She 'as ships on the foam -- she 'as millions at 'ome,
An' she pays us poor beggars in red.
(Ow, poor beggars in red!)
There's 'er nick on the cavalry 'orses,
There's 'er mark on the medical stores --
An' 'er troopers you'll find with a fair wind be'ind
That takes us to various wars.
(Poor beggars! -- barbarious wars!)
Then 'ere's to the Widow at Windsor,
An' 'ere's to the stores an' the guns,
The men an' the 'orses what makes up the forces
O' Missis Victorier's sons.
(Poor beggars! Victorier's sons!)

Walk wide o' the Widow at Windsor,
For 'alf o' Creation she owns:
We 'ave bought 'er the same with the sword an' the flame,
An' we've salted it down with our bones.
(Poor beggars! -- it's blue with our bones!)
Hands off o' the sons o' the Widow,
Hands off o' the goods in 'er shop,
For the Kings must come down an' the Emperors frown
When the Widow at Windsor says "Stop"!
(Poor beggars! -- we're sent to say "Stop"!)
Then 'ere's to the Lodge o' the Widow,
From the Pole to the Tropics it runs --
To the Lodge that we tile with the rank an' the file,
An' open in form with the guns.
(Poor beggars! -- it's always they guns!)

We 'ave 'eard o' the Widow at Windsor,
It's safest to let 'er alone:
For 'er sentries we stand by the sea an' the land
Wherever the bugles are blown.
(Poor beggars! -- an' don't we get blown!)
Take 'old o' the Wings o' the Mornin',
An' flop round the earth till you're dead;
But you won't get away from the tune that they play
To the bloomin' old rag over'ead.
(Poor beggars! -- it's 'ot over'ead!)
Then 'ere's to the sons o' the Widow,
Wherever, 'owever they roam.
'Ere's all they desire, an' if they require
A speedy return to their 'ome.
(Poor beggars! -- they'll never see 'ome!)

Rocket Love

Do do do, do do do, do do do, do do do
Do do do, do do do, do do do-oo
I longed for you since I was born
A woman sensitive and warm
And that you were
With pride and strength no one would test
But yet have feminie finesse
And so much more
You took me riding in your rocket gave me a star
But at a half a mile from heaven you dropped me back
Down to this cold, cold world
Took me riding in your rocket gave me a star
But at a half a mile from heaven you dropped me back
Down to this cold, cold world
A female shakespeare of your time
With looks to blow picassos mind
You were the best
Your body moved with grace and song
Like symphonies by bach or brahms
Nevertheless, oh oh
You took me riding in your rocket gave me a star
But at a half a mile from heaven you dropped me back
Down to this cold, cold world
Ooh you took me riding in your rocket gave me a star
But at a half a mile from heaven you dropped me back
Down to this cold, cold world
Da da da, da da da, da da da, da da da
Da da da, da da da-aa
The passion burning in your heart
Would make hells fire seem like a spark
Where did it go
Just why that you would overnight
Turn love to stone as cold as ice
Ill never know
But you took me riding in your rocket gave me a star
But at a half a mile from heaven you dropped me back
Down to this cold, cold world
Baby you took me riding in your rocket gave me a star
But at a half a mile from heaven you dropped me back
Down to this cold, cold world
Cold, too cold, you took me riding in your rocket gave me a star
But at a half a mile from heaven you dropped me back
Down to this cold, cold world
Oh, oh, oh, took me riding in your rocket gave me a star
But at a half a mile from heaven you dropped me back
Down to into this cold, cold world
I would not do that to a dog
Took me riding in your rocket gave me a star
But at a half a mile from heaven you dropped me back
Down to this cold, cold world
You took me riding in your rocket gave me a star
But at a half a mile from heaven you dropped me back
Down to this cold, cold world
Ooh baby

The Very Thing That Makes You Rich

My father told me, lying on his bed of death,
"boy," he says, "woman she's gonna make it, don't fool your self
'cause she's got something to make a man lay that money, uh, right in her hand
And the very thing that makes her rich will make you poor
The very thing that makes her rich will make you poor"
That's right!
Well, i put you behind the wheel of a deuce and a quarter, yes i did
Had you living like a rich man's daughter, yes i did, i sure did
While you were living high on the hog
You had me down here scuffling like a dog
Well, the very thing that makes you rich makes me poor
The very thing that makes you rich makes me poor
Don't you never ever make such a bad mistake
You know i'd rather climb into bed with a rattlesnake
Then to work hard every day bringing that woman all my pay
The very thing that makes you rich makes me poor,
Makes me so damn poor
The thing that makes her rich makes me poor
The very thing that makes you rich make me poor
Very thing that makes you rich makes me poor
Makes me so damned poor
Money won't change it, no no...

Where I find a treasure-trove?

A Dollar coin stuck in my sticky wallet
And I salute the face that engraved on the coin,
The sixth President of the United States of America
Mr.John.Quincy.Adams who resembles my benevolent maternal grandpa.
I would like to Scratch a lottery to build up my treasury
But I am scared that I'll loose the coin which guards my magical wallet(notes fly & coins remain) since a long time.

Treasured

Treasure is a lovely love, a built book,
One of the heavens contains the treasure.
Treasure forbade me to truly become you,
Understanding the gold and silver is becoming clear.

Let golden items sway, let gold become heavenly
By being money and wealth of a man in reign.
The money colder is the money touched;
Anywhere you go, is the silver being rich?

Let coins be coins as far as the eyes glance,
The body I suffer shall happen to be in the river of gold.

3 Kisses

1 The kiss of betrayal
Thirty pieces of silver paid for a kiss!
The price to betray You was no more than this.
For when Judas came with an armed mob that day
he was so determined his Lord to betray.

Gazing into Your face as Your eyes met his
he gave you that treacherous betrayal kiss.
A dastardly deed was done that awful day
handing You to the mob he went on his way.

No forgiveness was sought by this wretched soul.
No blood applied to cleanse and to make him whole.
Throwing the coins into the temple he left
to hang himself because he felt so bereft.

2. The kiss of love
Praise God that a kiss does not have to betray
but acts of love and devotion can display.
This poor woman was so determined and showed
her gratitude and the debt of love she owed.

The room was crowded but she was not deterred
she just wanted to reach out and touch her Lord.
With tears of repentance flowing from her eyes
she kept kissing Jesus' feet to their surprise.

Showing her tenderness and deep loving care
she then kept drying His feet with her long hair.
From the alabaster jar which she opened wide
she took out the sweet perfume contained inside.

The room instantly filled with aroma sweet
as she rubbed the perfume onto Jesus' feet.
Such acts of love though often misunderstood
did not pass unnoticed by Jesus her Lord.

3. The kiss of God
When You created the first man dear Lord
You did not do it by just speaking the word.
Instead You stooped down kneeling upon the ground
and gathered the dust of earth into a mound.

Knitting the atoms of man together there
forming him by Your tender loving care.
Then, wonder of all wonders, Your lips met his
and that man of clay came alive with Your kiss.

The life giving kiss God gave Adam that day
is still available to mankind today.
For justice and mercy kissed at Calvary
when God laid down His life for both you and me.

Gonging

Gongs are dropped by the people in black,
They are intrepid because of their colour.

A rich sound is displayed for the wicked in character,
Those who mingle with alien dress and desire.

Such a stupor is a jewel that it believed in noise
To travel through it and give mounds of coins.

Destroy never the wealth of a kingdom,
By selling it for a meagre price.

The richest men are slaves of the jewellery,
The crafty hands of gold and silver, and forever.

Gongs explode from first months
To the levers honest and true.

To be surprised is too absent from the search of clues,
Ones that decide too many lies untrue.

Small Time

small time, you call it small time
writing
is small time, there is no money
in writing, like a
politician, look at him, he does not
write, someone writes for him
and he gets the prize
the money
the pot
the jackpot
and look at you
you keep on writing
and writing
and writing

oh la la
poems, fit for a woman
her limited mind
her gullibility
her passion for words and words and words
her imagination

and look at you
poor man, poor, poor, poor
what you give
to this world, what are you giving to this world

it is not even a flower
just a poem for her, and you claim that you are winning her heart?

Weight Of The World

I used to carry the weight of the world
On my back
I never trusted my friends or my girl
Can you imagine that
I used to shuffle my feet
When I walked I hung my head down low
Kept to myself all my private thoughts
But when I met you girl.
I dropped the weight of the world
Weight of the world
I dropped the weight of the world
Weight of the world.
I knew some people used to dance all night
But not me
I never knew if it was wrong or right
To be so free
I used to close my eyes
And try to hide from the light of love
Spent all my time with the darkness inside
But when I met you girl.
I dropped the weight of the world
Weight of the world
I dropped the weight of the world
Weight of the world.
I was alone for all of my life
I was alone for all of my life
I was alone for all of my life
I was alone for all of my life
Until you came my way
I dropped the weight of the world
Weight of the world
I dropped the weight of the world
Weight of the world.

Albert and His Savings

One day, little Albert Ramsbottom
To see 'ow much money 'e'd got
Stuck a knife in 'is money-box slot 'ole
And fiddled and fished out the lot.

It amounted to fifteen and fourpence
Which 'e found by a few simple sums
Were ninety two tuppenny ices
Or twice that in penn'orths of gums.

The sound of the chinkin' of money
Soon brought father's 'ead round the door
He said, "Whats that there, on the table?"
Albert said it were, "Fifteen and four."

"You're not going to spend all that money..."
Said Pa, in an admonitory tone
"On toffee an' things for your stomach."
Said Mother, "Why not?... it's his own."

Said Pa, "Nay, with that fifteen shillings,
We'll buy National Savings and then...
In five years we'll have seventeen and six
And one pound and sixpence, in ten!"

Young Albert weren't what you'd call eager
He saw his sweet dreams fade away,
Ma said, "Let 'im 'ave the odd fourpence."
Pa lovingly answered, "Nay... nay!"

"It's our duty in crisis... what's 'appened
For every child, woman and man
To strain every muscle and sinew
To raise every penny we can!"

He said, "Even this little fourpence...
Might help us, the Germans to drub!"
Then 'e dropped the four coins in 'is pocket
And made for the neighbouring pub.

These words stirred the 'eart of young Albert
He made up 'is mind then and there
To take up 'is part in the straining
And sell everything 'e could spare.

So off 'e went down to the junk shop
With some toys and a flashlamp, he'd got.
And the stick with the 'orses 'ead 'andle
He received half a crown for the lot.

He went off to the Post Office counter
Where National Savings was bought
But found that they cost fifteen shillings
Which meant he were twelve and six short.

The little lad wasn't down 'earted
He went off without wastin' words
And sold 'is dad's smoking companion
And 'is Mother's glass case of stuffed birds.

At the Post Office counter they gave 'im
A certificate all crisp and clean
Then back 'e went 'ome, to his parents
To say what a good boy he'd been.

They didn't 'alf shout, when he told 'em
By Gumm... but 'e were in the wars
But at finish, they 'ad to forgive 'im
It were all done in such a grand cause.

There's a moral, of course. to this story
That's pointing to you and to me...
Let's all be young Alberts and tend
To defend the right to be free.

Belts

There was a row in Silver Street that's near to Dublin Quay,
Between an Irish regiment an' English cavalree;
It started at Revelly an' it lasted on till dark:
The first man dropped at Harrison's, the last forninst the Park.
For it was: -- "Belts, belts, belts, an' that's one for you!"
An' it was "Belts, belts, belts, an' that's done for you!"
O buckle an' tongue
Was the song that we sung
From Harrison's down to the Park!

There was a row in Silver Street -- the regiments was out,
They called us "Delhi Rebels", an' we answered "Threes about!"
That drew them like a hornet's nest -- we met them good an' large,
The English at the double an' the Irish at the charge.
Then it was: -- "Belts . . .

There was a row in Silver Street -- an' I was in it too;
We passed the time o' day, an' then the belts went whirraru!
I misremember what occurred, but subsequint the storm
A ~Freeman's Journal Supplemint~ was all my uniform.
O it was: -- "Belts . . .

There was a row in Silver Street -- they sent the Polis there,
The English were too drunk to know, the Irish didn't care;
But when they grew impertinint we simultaneous rose,
Till half o' them was Liffey mud an' half was tatthered clo'es.
For it was: -- "Belts . . .

There was a row in Silver Street -- it might ha' raged till now,
But some one drew his side-arm clear, an' nobody knew how;
'Twas Hogan took the point an' dropped; we saw the red blood run:
An' so we all was murderers that started out in fun.
While it was: -- "Belts . . .

There was a row in Silver Street -- but that put down the shine,
Wid each man whisperin' to his next: "'Twas never work o' mine!"
We went away like beaten dogs, an' down the street we bore him,
The poor dumb corpse that couldn't tell the bhoys were sorry for him.
When it was: -- "Belts . . .

There was a row in Silver Street -- it isn't over yet,
For half of us are under guard wid punishments to get;
'Tis all a merricle to me as in the Clink I lie:
There was a row in Silver Street -- begod, I wonder why!
But it was: -- "Belts, belts, belts, an' that's one for you!"
An' it was "Belts, belts, belts, an' that's done for you!"

I wake up in the morning Im thinking of you
In dollars and cents in high heel shoes
I start to think and the headache goes boom
Im counting the bills that are stacked to the moon
The money Im giving to you
I could live on forever (on the sunny side)
What can I do so my life
Turns around for the better (got knows that I tried)
Taxman woman I keep running
Cant you see its only money
Taxman woman I keep running
Cant you see its so hard honey
To keep up with you
I work twice as hard what else can I do
To make up the part thats been taken by you
If it wasnt for you I would be rich
But instead Im a poor son of a bitch
The money Im giving to you
I could live on forever (on the sunny side)
What can I do so my life
Turns around for the better (got knows that I tried)

Poor Folks Town

The work is hard and the hours are long
The money aint much but we get along
Were rich in things can give
That cant be bought with a dollar bill
So, come on down
Have a look around
Rich folks livin in a poor folks town
We got no money but were rich in love
Thats one thing that weve got a-plenty of
So come on down have a look around
At rich folks livin in a poor folks town
We got no carpets on the floor
Weve got wall to wall love
Who could ask for more
We got no big fine things to show
Just a place to watch our children grow
We got no big fine fancy car to drive
And no fancy clothes to keep in style
What weve got were payin on
But its mostly love that were livin on
So, come on down
Have a look around
Rich folks livin in a poor folks town
We got no money but were rich in love
Thats one thing that weve got a-plenty of
So come on down have a look around
At rich folks livin in a poor folks town
Weve got a little simple church nearby
And the promise of a mansion in the sky
A heart of gold a million dollar smile
And a one way ticket to paradise
So, come on down
Have a look around
Rich folks livin in a poor folks town
We got no money but were rich in love
Thats one thing that weve got a-plenty of
So come on down have a look around
At rich folks livin in a poor folks town
So, come on down
Have a look around
Rich folks livin in a poor folks town
We got no money but were rich in love
Thats one thing that weve got a-plenty of
So come on down have a look around
At rich folks livin in a poor folks town

Power of the eyes

A circle, drawn by dots or broken lines
Forms in the retina a complete circle,
Unbroken, the gaps dropped.

A square, drawn by ankles in corners,
Gives you an image of complete square,
Unbroken, the gaps removed.

A woman, shown by face, neck and belly,
Is inferred as a woman revealing in full
The parts, clothes dropped.

Woman may be clothed.
But her body is x-rayed..
