Autumn Violets
Keep love for youth, and violets for the spring:
Of if these bloom when worn-out autumn grieves,
Let them lie hid in double shade of leaves,
Their own, and others dropped down withering;
For violets suit when home birds build and sing,
Not when the outbound bird a passage cleaves;
Not with dry stubble of mown harvest sheaves,
But when the green world buds to blossoming.
Keep violets for the spring, and love for youth,
Love that should dwell with beauty, mirth, and hope:
Or if a later sadder love be born,
Let this not look for grace beyond its scope,
But give itself, nor plead for answering truth—
A grateful Ruth tho' gleaning scanty corn.

Roses are red
Violets are blue
I've never found someone as patient
As you
Roses are red
Violets are blue
If you get lost
Then I'll look for you
Roses are red
Violets are blue
You know I'm always sorry
When I hurt you
Roses are red
Violets are blue
If I could
Id turn back to when i first kissed you
Roses are red
Violets are blue
If you don't believe me
Then what else can I do
Roses are red
Violets are blue
Baby no one knows me
As much as you
Roses are red
Violets are blue
Believe I'll do anything
To get next to you
Roses are red
Violets are blue
Tell me you still love me
And I'll run to you
Roses are red
Violets are blue
You might not know
But I love you
Roses are red
Violets are blue
The stars shine bright
But not as bright as you do
Roses are red
Violets are blue
If I could pick anyone
I would pick you
Roses are red
Violets are blue
The first day I saw you
That's when I knew
Roses are red
Violets are blue
No one will ever love you
As much as I do
Roses are red violets are blue
Even if you get me mad
I'll still be in love with you
Roses are red
Violets are blue
My heart skips a beat
When I'm laying next to you
Roses are red
Violets are blue
If you love me
Then show me that that love is true

A Coronal
WITH HIS SONGS AND HER DAYS TO HIS LADY AND TO LOVE
Violets and leaves of vine,
Into a frail, fair wreath
We gather and entwine:
A wreath for Love to wear,
Fragrant as his own breath,
To crown his brow divine,
All day till night is near.
Violets and leaves of vine
We gather and entwine.
Violets and leaves of vine
For Love that lives a day,
We gather and entwine.
All day till Love is dead,
Till eve falls, cold and gray,
These blossoms, yours and mine,
Love wears upon his head,
Violets and leaves of vine
We gather and entwine.
Violets and leaves of vine,
For Love when poor Love dies
We gather and entwine.
This wreath that lives a day
Over his pale, cold eyes,
Kissed shut by Proserpine,
At set of sun we lay:
Violets and leaves of vine
We gather and entwine.

Life Is Lovely All the Year
When the buds are blossoming,
Smiling welcome to the spring,
Lovers choose a wedding day -
Life is love in merry May!
Spring is green - Fal lal la!
Summer's rose - Fal lal la!
It is sad when Summer goes,
Fal la!
Autumn's gold - Fal lal la!
Winter's grey - Fal lal la!
Winter still is far away -
Fal la!
Leaves in Autumn fade and fall;
Winter is the end of all.
Spring and summer teem with glee:
Spring and summer, then, for me!
Fal la!
In the Spring-time seed is sown:
In the Summer grass is mown:
In the Autumn you may reap:
Winter is the time for sleep.
Spring is hope - Fal lal la!
Summer's joy - Fal lal la!
Spring and Summer never cloy,
Fal la!
Autumn, toil - Fal lal la!
Winter, rest - Fal lal la!
Winter, after all, is best -
Fal la!
Spring and summer pleasure you,
Autumn, ay, and winter, too -
Every season has its cheer;
Life is lovely all the year!
Fal la!

Violets
Violets, shy violets!
How many hearts with you compare!
Who hide themselves in thickest green,
And thence, unseen,
Ravish the enraptured air
With sweetness, dewy fresh and rare!
Violets, shy violets!
Human hearts to me shall be
Viewless violets in the grass,
And as I pass,
Odours and sweet imagery
Will wait on mine and gladden me!

I Love Spring
I love spring
Spring is new
It’s new blades of grass
It’s rain on a lass
It’s violets and rain
It’s a wood-scented lane
It’s a new bird song
It’s days growing long
It’s a tree in bud and puddles of mud
It’s birds in a tree and buzz from a bee
It’s kites in the sky
It’s spring. That’s why
I love spring.

Setting the scene for M lady Lucianne
Few know where shy white violets grow
but I am one of those who do.
Just take my hand and we will go
together to a place I know.
I am prepared to share with you
But you must swear you will not tell
a single soul for if you do.
Too many folks will go there to
grub up the plants and take them home
to plant them in their garden plot.
Where other folks are not welcome
I would not mind if they took some.
But know quite well they’ll take them all
and leave not one single plant behind.
Their greed would be the plants downfall.
There would be none for us to find.
When we go walking hand in hand
along this pretty lovers lane.
I know my love you understand.
The violets grow where nature planned.
That white violets are very rare,
they are not meant to be confined.
They do not need a gardeners care
You will see when we get there.
Their beauty in a natural state.
Where they were intended to be,
I know you will appreciate
why I swear you to secrecy.
But I trust you implicitly
I know that you will not betray
the shy white violets or me.
You are the soul of honesty.
That’s why I am in love with you.
Not only are you sweet and kind
but to your word you’re always true.
and do what you say you will do.
When we get there I will propose
and hope that you will answer yes.
I think you have guessed my purpose
and know exactly why I chose.
To show my violets to you
today and now in early spring,
In fact I am convinced you do.
You know me far too well not to.

In the Temple
When Lilian comes I scarcely know
If Winter wraps the world in snow,
Or if 'tis Summer strikes a-glow
The fountain in the court below,
When Lilian comes.
Her flower-like eyes, her soft lips bring
The warmth and welcome of the Spring,
And round my room, a fairy ring,
See violets, violets blossoming,
When Lilion comes.
When Lilian goes I hear again
The infinite despair of rain
Drip on my darkening window-pane
The tears of Winter on the wane,
When Lilian goes.
Yet still about my lonely room
The visionary violets bloom,
And with her presence still perfume
The tedious page that I resume
When Lilian goes.

Violets For Your Furs
Tom adair / matt dennis
It was winter in manhattan
Falling snowflakes filled the air
The streets were covered with a film of ice
But a little simple magic that Id heard about somewhere
Changed the weather all around, just withn a trice
You bought me violets for my furs
And it was spring for a while, remember?
You bought me violets for my furs
And there was april in that december
The snow drifted on the flowers and melted where it lay
The snow looked leke dew on the blossoms
As on a summer day
You bought me violets for my furs
Aand there was blue in the wintry sky
You pinned the violets to my furs
And gave a lift to the crowds passing by
You smiled at me so sweetly
Since then one thought occurs
That we fell in love completely
The day you bought me violets for my furs

Spring In War-Time
Now the sprinkled blackthorn snow
Lies along the lover’s lane
Where last year we used to go-
Where we shall not go again.
In the hedge the buds are new,
By our wood the violets peer-
Just like last year’s violets too,
But they have no scent this year.
Every bird has heart to sing
Of its nest, warmed by its breast;
We had heart to sing last spring,
But we never built our nest.
Presently red roses blown
Will make all the garden gay..
Not yet have the daisies grown
On your clay.

Roses and Violets
Roses are red
Violets are Blue
I'm in love with you
And desperate too
Roses are red
Violets are blue
Go out with me
And I'll kiss you
Roses are red
Violets are blue
I love poetry
And you will too
Roses are red
Violets are blue
I hate you girlfriend
And so should you
Roses are red
Violets are blue
Be with me
And leave her soon

Roses are red, Violets are blue.....(romantic)
Roses are red,
Violets are blue,
they wouldn't be red or blue,
without you,
Roses are red,
Violets are blue,
I'll be stuck to you,
like glue,
Roses are red,
Violets are blue,
Poems express my love,
you do too!
Roses are red,
Violets are blue,
It'll always be me,
and you.
Roses are red,
Violets are blue,
I can never explain,
how much I love you...

Roses Are Red. Violets Are Blue.
Roses are red with blood from the thorns of love
Red with the hearts they have slain
Red with the fire, the passion, the anger
Roses, the warriors of love.
Violets are blue like the tears that hold the sky
Blue with the cold fire which heat has long since deserted
Blue, like Romeo's lips as the cordial took his life
Violets, the salute to a love lost.
Roses are red,
Violets are blue,
This is my poem
Adieu.

Born Again
Your soul awake
beneath flowers white,
leaves gleam
in spring daylight
Birds in glee
flap their wings,
on the oak tree
the cuckoo sings
In grass green
violets bloom,
lifting my sorrow
and deep gloom
As I walk on the road
rough and steep,
your footsteps follow
I no more weep

Spring.
'Let the light rain on her, the sweet Spring, till
She teems with greenery in the warm air,
Flower-hued, and vocal with the tender joy
Of bleating lambs and young birds on the wing.'
Thus on the cold hill doth the herdsman pray
Beneath his frozen star; the milkmaid, too,
As her raw hands take up the milking-pail,
And the wind freezes in the red dawn near: —
'Come, Spring, earth's sap, and mount in me until
I bloom, a rose of love: smile in mine eyes
Till my love from his wintry hill shall see
The star of youth, and leap into my arms!
O Spring, sweet Spring! but hear my prayer, and I
Shall build thee bowers of roses on the hill,
And all the summer there with bird and bee
Shall joy feast in the beauty of our love!'
Thus do they chant the wintry time away
In hill and vale, the two who look to when
The warmth of beauty takes life's wonder on,
And the rose of the flesh shall bloom for them.

Roses Are Red...
L- roses are red,
violets are blue,
i've already told you,
my feelings are true.
M- roses are red,
violets are blue,
just cuz' i don't say it,
doesn't mean i don't love you.
L- roses are red,
violets are blue,
if...what you say is true,
do you feel for me...as i do for you?
M- roses are red,
violets are blue,
don't you realize,
how i feel about you?
L- roses are red,
violets are blue,
i try to see...how you feel for me,
but, just cuz' i feel it...doesn't make it true.
...I LOVE YOU...I LOVE YOU...I LOVE YOU...
