The Tattered Cord
The tattered cord
can again become knotted.
It holds
but it is torn.
Perhaps we'll face
each other again
but there,
where you left me,
you'll not meet me
again.

Thats where my soul is worn

Thats when I was born

I broke away from me

I knocked me to my knees
Tattered and torn
I drink my own cells
Tattered and torn
A decomposing well
Tattered and torn
Roaches in my head

Torn And Tattered Heart
my heart is torn and tattered
it seems like nothing else matters
i gave my heart, soul, and mind
and thought it would last for a long time.
you find someone which you grow to love and
it gets deeper and higher than the stars above.
you feel that this love will forever last
but it becomes part of the past.
when you see this person change their points of view
but! not to satisfy you.
just to satisfy their blown egos and their conceit
and your love they could never meet.
and now your heart is a divided road with
nowheres to go.
you pick up the pieces of your torn heart
and look for another place to start.
this torn and tattered heart knows it must
pick itself up again-and start the search all anew
in hopes that it'll find someone better than you.
someone who will appreciate all the love
that you have to give.
for in the long run they will win.
they'll win a heart which has gotten strong
and with you it will belong.
this is my heart which i give to you- which will
no longer be sad or blue.

Torn Between Two Lives
Torn between two lives,
the one I have
and the one I want.
The one that I live
and the one I dream about.
Torn between two lives,
the one I want
to escape from
to the one I want
to escape to.
Torn between two lives,
reality and fantasy.
One holds no promise,
while the other holds
all I ever wanted to be.

Revival is A Boost
The more I loved her the more I thirsted.
The more I pursued the more she thawed.
Had I not been struck, had she not been knotted,
We would have been knotted, tightly knotted.
I heard she was fervent to get my verses.
My hormones are once more in spate thanks to her.

Sad To Be Without You
Sad to be without you
Sad to laugh withot you
Sad to live without you
Because I feel that
The umbilical cord
Broke after you died
And I was left behind
Feeling sad that
I was not connected
To that umbilical cord

Plus and minus is more than zero.
You sapped my soul and snapped the cord
When you left, forever, my company
Because it is you who gave me sap and cord
When you were with me in love harmony.
Maybe no sorrow, had I not courted you.
Maybe no sorrow had you not drifted off.
Pleasure of reminiscence is the end product.

Broken
Broken,
Like a thousand shards of glass,
Bloody on the floor.
Still here,
Too afraid to walk out the door.
The hands that used to caress
Now inflict pain and suppress.
No love is left.
Broken,
Tattered, torn and scarred,
What once was love
Is now battered, bruised and marred.

Coal Black Horses
Just as sure as that suns gonna shine
When he comes at his table i will dine
Just as sure as that dog's gonna whine
In my heart no longer will i pine
Just as sure as by evil you are torn
The sky will open up an' an angel blow his horn
An' down come jesus lookin' so fine
Just as sure as that girl she is mine....
An' i say
Hey hey hey it's always forever
Hey hey hey it's never or now
I dug a hole an' hollowed it out
Yes an' i fell in
Oh lord i'm caught in the cord....
The cord of my own sin
Shoot 'em up cowboy - yeah i got away
But i been draggin' this chain the whole way.....
An i say
Hey hey hey it's always forever
Hey hey hey it's never or now
Oh yea boys i know an' i am certain
In your heart of heart ye all are hurtin'
Oh no no no not that name not to me
It's much too hard to get down on my knees
But just as sure as by evil you are torn
The sky will open up an' an angel blow his horn
An' down come jesus lookin' so fine
Just as sure as that girl she is mine.....
I say.....

So I Can Be What I Must Be
i never got what i want
never had what i love
i'll put it on record
in caution of the cord
the days are coming fast
meet me in the face and go away
a few days more and soon
this will be over
it is good
for i hope for somewhere else
for someone not like myself
and for someone not like yourself
who knows? life and death will always find a way
so i can be what i must be.

To my lost one (villanelle)
If you come from a unknown place
from where I am, as if thrown
into my life and we again meet face-to-face
it may be by God’s grace
and we may leave the paths well trodden and known.
If you come from a unknown place
wherever it may be, carrying just one suitcase
I will be happy to meet you, if you come alone
into my life and we again meet face-to-face
and if you want to, we can disappear without a trace
be on our own, without anyone.
If you come from a unknown place
and walk into my embrace,
my lost one, come without a chaperone
into my life and we again meet face-to-face
our pasts will be erased
and all unhappiness will be gone,
if you come from a unknown place
into my life and we again meet face-to-face.

I live for my dreams.
She comes to me in dreams at night.
And holds me as she used to do.
But disappears by morning light
So I am left to grieve anew..
There’s no one left to comfort me
My family are long since gone.
I wait for nightfall eagerly
Just for a while I’m not alone.
Each night before I sleep I pray
My love will come to visit me.
Although I’ll face another day
of loneliness and misery.
They say that passing time will heal.
For some perhaps it may be true.
But not for me because I feel
the anguish still of losing you.
I know somewhere you wait for me.
You can’t return and won’t go on.
You know we have eternity.
That I will follow where you’ve gone.
When death released you from your pain.
And left your spirit free to fly.
You promised me we’d meet again.
Now all I do is wonder why.
Fate decided that we should be.
Forced to go our separate ways
Parted arbitrarily.
Condemning me to lonely days.
She comes to me by night in dreams
and holds me as she used to do
When for a while at least it seems
as if my dreams will soon come true.
I pray each night I will not wake.
To be set free to rejoin you.
A journey I will gladly make.
There’s nothing here for me to do.

Promise
Those words strike a cord,
a cord so true.
A cord so familiar,
it sounds so much like you.
Did I leave you behind,
I can't really tell.
For in this landscape,
there is no more wishing well.
A good thing or bad,
let time unveil itself,
Hopefully in time, I stand before you,
as a person of wealth.
Left Too Long
A threaded needle could be used to heal,
A torn and tattered memory...
Held and labelled as love too long.
That came apart at the seams.
Pieces of those memories,
When one was young and full of...
Immaturity!
And it is never too late to reveal...
Whose hurt.
But that dream to patch and rematch again,
Seems to be only in the mind of one...
Thinking it would be worth it,
To fix a brokenness...
That has been sitting and left too long.
A brokenness that has been left too long...
To sit discouraged wondering...
Would trying to mend a brokenness be wrong?
Would the effort be dismissed and those feelings gone?
And a threading together would never find acceptance.

Desperate Heart
Yesterday you were here by my side
Nothing to prove and nothing left to hide
You promised me there would be no goodbye
But now I find another set of lies
Babe you must be crazy
How could you be so blind
Why would you deceive me
Now youre saying that youre leaving me behind
So strong Im not gonna run away
Want you to know that Im gonna break through
How long can I go on this way
Theres nothing I can do
Desperate heart think you better hold out
Torn apart I was left to bleed
Dont start feeling you were sold out
Now you better face reality
Did my best did the best that I could
Its all been wasted just misunderstood
You keep on talking
Your words are sounding so smoothe
Why dont you say it
You just want to cut me loose
Oh dont say that you love me
Dont wont to hear that you tried
Oh dont tell me that you need me
Dont want to hear none of your alibis
So strong Im not gonna run away
Want you to know that Im gonna break through
How long can I go on this way
Theres nothing I can do
Desperate heart think you better hold out
Torn apart I was left to bleed
Dont start feeling you were sold out
Now you better face reality
So strong Im not gonna run away
Want you to know that Im gonna break through
How long can I go on this way
Tell me what can I do
Nothing I can do
Desperate heart think you better hold out
Torn apart I was left to bleed
Dont start feeling you were sold out
Now you better face reality

Torn Apart
Well I went down to your house just the other day
Only to discover you had gone astray
Torn apart
Torn apart
Torn apart
Torn apart
Well I called you on the tele just the other day
Only to discover you had gone astray
Torn apart
Torn apart
Torn apart
Torn apart
Torn apart
Torn apart

Torn apart
Torn apart

Yours Forever
Here we are in the grays of winter,
Here we are just me and you,
Hold my hand,
Lets face tomorrow,
Tomorrow still holds out its hands to you
This precious time we've only borrowed,
The autumn winds have blown on through,
A quiet thought will tell our story,
Tomorrow still holds out its hands to you
Yes tomorrow still holds out its hands to you
Here some wings,
There yours forever,
And heres some dreams,
That will come true,
Take these tears, to wash away your sorrows,
Tomorrow still holds out its hands to you,
Yes tomorrow still holds out its to you,
Yes tomorrow still holds out its hands to you

The Only Thing I Have Left
Some people say Im one of those guys the blessings of life over looked.
Sometimes I feel like the tattered, torn pages of some old paperback book.
All the places Ive played and the money I made, Ive still got nothin to show.
And the only thing I have left in the whole wide world is you.
(chorus)
I gave it all I had every night for all these years,
Pourin out my soul till it was gone.
I spread myself so thin that Im just barely hangin on.
But tonight Im with you, you can carry me through; just love me.
cause the only thing I have left in the whole wide world is you.
You put your whole life into something you love,
But you never get that one big break
Thatll take you out of the backstreet bar and put you on center stage
But a million tears and million beers have just about washed me up.
(chorus)
The only thing I have left is you.

Outlaw Torn
You know I wait my whole lifetime for you
I ride the dirt I ride the tide for you
I search the outside search inside for you
To take back what you left me
I know I'll always burn to be
No one seeks so I may find
And now I wait my whole lifetime
My whole lifetime
So on I wait my whole lifetime for you
So on I wait my whole lifetime for you
The more I search the more my need for you
The more I blast the more I bleed for you
You make me smash the clock and feel
I'd rather die behind the wheel
Time was never on my side
So on I wait my whole lifetime
My whole lifetime
And I'm torn
And if I close my mind in fear
Please pry it open
And if my face becomes sincere
Beware
And when I start to come undone
Stitch me together
And when you see me stretched remind me of what left this outlaw torn
And if I close my mind in fear
Please pry it open
And if my face becomes sincere
Beware
And when I start to come undone
Stitch me together
And when you see me stretched remind me of what left this outlaw torn

It's the Tattered End of Autumn
It’s the tattered end of autumn,
when the beech tree’s yellow dress
has rusted
and a thick carpet
of mustard
lies rotting underfoot.
It’s the tattered end of autumn,
when the white bones of the birch
are exposed
and its last leaves
cling
like baby koalas.
It’s the tattered end of autumn
when single leaves
dance solos
and next door’s blower
disturbs
the stillness of mid afternoon.
It’s the tattered end of autumn
when bed beckons
and the moon is bright,
and you and I touch toes
tenderly
under the doona.
