Dr. Sigmund Freud Discovers the Sea Shell
Science, that simple saint, cannot be bothered
Figuring what anything is for:
Enough for her devotions that things are
And can be contemplated soon as gathered.
She knows how every living thing was fathered,
She calculates the climate of each star,
She counts the fish at sea, but cannot care
Why any one of them exists, fish, fire or feathered.
Why should she? Her religion is to tell
By rote her rosary of perfect answers.
Metaphysics she can leave to man:
She never wakes at night in heaven or hell
Staring at darkness. In her holy cell
There is no darkness ever: the pure candle
Burns, the beads drop briskly from her hand.
Who dares to offer Her the curled sea shell!
She will not touch it!--knows the world she sees
Is all the world there is! Her faith is perfect!
And still he offers the sea shell . . .
What surf
Of what far sea upon what unknown ground
Troubles forever with that asking sound?
What surge is this whose question never ceases?

On science (cavatina sequence)
(after Archibald MacLeish)
She does not worry about why things are;
that they exist
to be contemplated or observed,
how they persist,
is far enough for her own simple reasoning,
she does resist
their reason, in rote produces answers,
perfect to devotions of her followers.
She thinks she knows where all things do come from,
far beyond her
kind of scope is metaphysics, physical
she does gather,
she is protected in her own dungeon,
nothing further
she knows about love, joy, fear and sorrow,
as she proclaims things for each tomorrow.
Beyond the stars, the sheer utter darkness,
shines a true light,
beyond the unknown, beyond a ocean,
out of her sight
are things like life to which He answers know,
to her its night
to comprehend the very soul of man,
as mechanical she does what she can.

We Truly Need The Light
With this world around us becoming darker we truly need The Light,
Too many people struggle in the darkness hindered by limited sight.
The sun illuminates our life on earth guiding us into day from night,
But The Morning Star will shine forever while being eternally bright.
The moon will soon darken and the sun won't have its light to send,
However, from His throne in Heaven Christ's Light shall never end.
Today in this darker world His Light is desperately needed my friend,
But just like His own, He's the light that many men can't comprehend.
In the annals of time you do see conflict throughout history's pages,
Wherever righteousness takes a stand, wickedness unceasingly rages.
All involved shall be accountable as sin must indeed pay its wages,
But God has been a rock for the righteous down through all the ages.
With the worlds darkness all around us we need the Light of His Love,
And we need His Mercy to surround us with His guidance from above.
When confronted by the enemy and the proverbial push come to shove,
God answers with the perfect solution that fits like a hand in glove.
Perfect truth comes from our sustainer, the Lord God of all creation,
And He sent to us the perfect prophet with His ultimate revelation.
Rejected by His own that day, today His message is to every nation,
And to all who believe His message He offers God's gift of Salvation.
Is it really like fishing?
They say there is many fish in the sea to choose from.
But have you ever gone fishing?
They say do not worry they are like fish you lose one then get a fresh one.
But have you actually gone fishing?
They say you can be picky when fishing your fish.
But have you been in the sea and fished?
They even say some actually smell like fish.
But have you really smelled a fish?
They say there is plenty of fish in the sea.
But have you actually gone and counted the fish in the sea?
They say once you catch that perfect fish, you are bound for a good life.
But have you caught that perfect fish they all speak of?
They say some fish can be beautiful.
But have you seen any beautiful fish?
How can one compare a fish?
They are not alike.
How can one say it is as easy as finding a fish?
It is not a simple task.
How can they say there are so many fish in the sea?
When there are so many fishers who have yet to catch.
Can you really compare life and love to a fish?
The answer is of course not.
You can’t.
Impossible.
Unreal.
Not imaginable.
Unbelievable.
Unrealistic.
A fairy tale.

Candle At The Edge Of The World
There is a candle at the edge of the world
that burns for all humanity.
In the daytime, it burns blue
to colour our skies when we wake.
At night, it is covered with a shade
and that is when darkness calls.
This candle at the edge of the world
is a constant reminder to us all
that if we venture too far too fast
we will eventually fall.
The candle burns within us
to show us the way each day
and if it ever fails
that is when our darkness calls.
It burns through our torment and strife,
our loves, happiness and failures too.
That candle at the edge of the world
is simply me and you.

A Perfect World
In a perfect world,
Death would never be.
Life would be forever
And last eternally.
In a perfect world
You'd still be by our side,
Lighting up our happy lives.
You never would have died.
In a perfect world,
Sadness would not be found.
Love and life, and happiness
Forever would abound.
We Believe that perfect world
Awaits us when we die.
A world where eternal bliss
Is found in Heaven's sky.
We'll cling to faith and hope,
For God is a God of love.
And then in time we'll join you
In that perfect world above.

Perfect World
Everybodys dreamin bout a perfect world
Where you could have everthing your heart desires
A perfect boy will meet a perfect girl
And the perfect love will set the world on fire
Well what you ganna do, when one and one makes three
And a vision of the future is impossible to see
Nobodys perfect, not even a perfect fool,
But if youll have faith in me
Ill keep faith in you
Aint no livin in a perfect world
There aint no perfect world anyway
Aint no livin in a perfect world
But well keep on dreamin of livin in a perfect world
Keep on dreamin of livin in a perfect world
Everybodys got secrets, now you know that its true
They talk about me and theyll talk about you
Something happens to the pledges of trust
Down through the years they begin to rust
Now here we are amid the tears and the laughter
Still waiting for our happily ever after
Well keep on dreamin as long as we can
Try to remember and youll understand
Aint no lvin in a perfect world
There aint no perfect world anyway
Aint no livin in a perfect world
But well keep on dreamin of livin in a perfect world
Keep on dreamin of livin in a perfect world

Hardest Thing In The World (Bredbury Manchester 1986)
The hardest thing in the world
Holland [?] it don't please
I never wanted to leave
Searching for a perfect day
It never happens that way - ahey hey hey
I'm sick and tired and so obscene
Will heaven help me be clean?
Searching for a perfect day
It never happens that way - ahey hey hey
Cut away, I know your world wants you around [?]
You never heard a word I said
It's very simple to me
That if you knew you wouldn't say
It never happens that way - ahey hey hey
And the impression I get
As the story unfurls:
That you're the hardest thing in the world
Cut away, I know your world wants you around
What you feel might not be
It seems softer [?] to me
I cannot climb to touch your spire
I'm getting higher and higher
Cut away, I know your world wants you around
The hardest thing in the world

Breath Of Heaven
I have traveled many moonless nights,
Cold and weary with a babe inside,
And i wonder what i've done.
Holy father you have come,
And chosen me now to carry your son.
I am waiting in a silent prayer.
I am frightened by the load i bear.
In a world as cold as stone,
Must i walk this path alone?
Be with me now.
Be with me now.
Breath of heaven,
Hold me together,
Be forever near me,
Breath of heaven.
Breath of heaven,
Lighten my darkness,
Pour over me your holiness,
For you are holy.
Breath of heaven.
Do you wonder as you watch my face,
If a wiser one should have had my place,
But i offer all i am
For the mercy of your plan.
Help me be strong.
Help me be.
Help me.
Breath of heaven,
Hold me together,
Be forever near me,
Breath of heaven.
Breath of heaven,
Lighten my darkness,
Pour over me your holiness,
For you are holy.
Breath of heaven,
Hold me together,
Be forever near me,
Breath of heaven.
Breath of heaven,
Lighten my darkness,
Pour over me your holiness,
For you are holy.
Breath of heaven.
Breath of heaven.
Breath of heaven.

Picture Perfect
Picture perfect a life that you saw in a magazine
Or maybe a travelling book
Wanted to get on that plane and fly away
cause you are a rock star deep down inside
You walk with a swagger, got nothin' to hide
Cigarette in your mouth, a cuff on your jeans
Your sideburns are perfect, you're a perfect and lean
So you made an oil painting to inmortalize
All of the hope and vision in your eyes
In your leisure coat and cowboy hat
North American records and so much to bat for
Please bring me along
Please bring me along
Because I want to see everything you have to offer me
Get a job lifting cement
Oh it's so dry when it rains it gets wet
And the village was great, now it's a suburb
You left behind half of all that you had learnt
Relearn a couple things along the way
The thrift shop so clean all for half what you'd pay
So you try everything on, on for size
Drop top your Camaro and go for a ride
Please bring me along
Please bring me along
Because I want to see everything you have to offer me
And I don't mind to sit here and waste my time
Oh but this world is not mine to define
And I want to shine
Please bring me along
Please take me away
I don't want to stay
And I want to see everything you have to offer me
And I want to see everything you have to offer me
And I want to see everything you have to offer me
I want to see everything the world has to offer me
I want to see everything the world has to offer me
I want to show everything I have to offer it
I want to show everything I have to offer it now

Sea-Shells
I gathered shells upon the sand,
Each shell a little perfect thing,
So frail, yet potent to withstand
The mountain-waves' wild buffeting.
Through storms no ship could dare to brave
The little shells float lightly, save
All that they might have lost of fine
Shape and soft colour crystalline.
Yet I amid the world's wild surge
Doubt if my soul can face the strife,
The waves of circumstance that urge
That slight ship on the rocks of life.
O soul, be brave, for He who saves
The frail shell in the giant waves,
Will bring thy puny bark to land
Safe in the hollow of His hand.

The Grinning Crab
Come with me, said the fish to the crab
and I will show you a cave where beautiful coral live.
When do we leave, said the crab to the fish
and tell me what I should bring.
Just bring a sense of adventure, said the fish to the crab, and some sun tan oil
You forget, said the crab to the fish, my shell is thick and impenetrable by rays of any kind.
What about the metal-tipped arrows, asked the fish of the crab, from a cheeky cherub?
Oh they don’t stand a chance, said the crab with a grin.
The fish, having eyes that could not blink, felt the molten tears sting his star-crossed eyes.

Spoken:
And gabriel appeared to mary and said
Do not be afraid mary
You have found favor with god
You will be with child
And give birth to a son
And you are to give him the name jesus
He will be great
And will be called the son of the most high
And the lord God will give him the throne of his father david
And he will reign over the house of david forever
His kingdom will never end

When I remember the fish
When I remember the fish,
The river longed me to go,
Wriggling and meandering, slippery in this
Imaginary waters of my world,
I become a fish.
When eye sea them eat the fish;
They cast their nets for a random catch, they
Drop their hooks for a strangling pull, then,
I become a fish no more.
When them fail to catch the fish;
As the fish wriggles an escape,
Then eye long to be like one as eye
Wonder whether or not am a fish.

The End of Darkness
There is a darkness on every side, and with it a prevailing evil tide.
And this evil that is all around us, fills our heart with deep disgust.
From the evil we attempt to hide, but its effects can not be denied.
But soon it shall be behind us, this present world with all its lusts.
We will no longer be in this world, when by God Eternity’s unfurled.
Darkness pervades each corner of life, causing all unwanted strife.
Darkness is evil’s vessel friend, with destruction as its ultimate end.
Satan wants to hand you defeat, as he desires to sift you like wheat.
What God says about our enemy, is resist the devil and he will flee.
For Christ has achieved the victory, for evil to be banished eternally.
Until then darkness isn’t a friend, and Christ’s Light is to be our end.
Darkness is dispelled by His Light, along with all the evil of the night.
When darkness mounts against us, we must lean on whom we trust.
One day the darkness all about us, will be blown away like the dust.
In Heaven there will be no night, for Christ will be The Eternal Light.
Lust of the flesh will be no more, when we reach that celestial shore.
We’ll have a pure mind and heart, as an eternity with Christ we start.
No more temptation for us to face, for Heaven will be a Perfect place.
Purged of all sin and iniquity, a New Heaven and Earth is what will be.
A place where Truth is not denied, for His Light will be on every side.
Perfect World
In my perfect world
The sky is a perfect blue
The grass is a soft green
And together are me and you
In my perfect world
The sun is a perfect heat
No global warming
It would be a treat
In my perfect world
There would be no disease
The flowers would bloom everyday
And no one would cut down trees
In my perfect world
No one would be poor
The streets paved with gold
Silver for the floor
In my perfect world
Death would never come
Pain would go away
And no one would be dumb
In my perfect world
The government would not rule
We’d chose for ourselves
What we thought was cool
In my perfect world
Racism would not exist
Discrimination would be over
And nothing would end with fists
But then I remember
I can’t believe it’s true
But my world really is perfect
Because I spend it with you
I'm Not Perfect
I'm (x8)
Had we met at a different time we'd be perfect for each other,
Now were spending all our time, in this world come together,
My heart is aching, from all the love your giving,
Were not faking, is this the life were living?
I'm not perfect, but i'm perfect for you,
Now i'm right on time,
I'm not perfect, but i'm perfect for you,
I feel right on time,
More and more we are together, tryin to discover,
I see a flicker in your eye, are you lookin for somethin better?
You once told me lying on the ground, but keep goin up and down, yo!
I'm not perfect, but i'm perfect for you,
Now i'm right on time,
I'm not perfect, but i'm perfect for you,
I feel right on time,
I'm not perfect, but i'm perfect for you,
Now i'm right on time,
I'm not perfect, but i'm perfect for you,
I feel right on time,
Why waste it thinkin about it? taste it,
Don't waste it thinkin about it, taste it,
It really doesn't matter wherever i may go,
We're tied together, that's one thing we both know, yo!
I'm not perfect, but i'm perfect for you,
Now i'm right on time,
I'm not perfect, but i'm perfect for you,
I feel right on time,
I'm not perfect, but i'm perfect for you,
Now i'm right on time,
I'm not perfect, but i'm perfect for you,
I feel right on time,
Right on time, i feel on time tonight, i right on time, i feel right on time,
Right on time, i feel on time tonight, i right on time, i feel right on time,
Right on time, i feel on time tonight, i right on time, now i'm right on time,

Excitement
To live your life in monotonous ways
turns you into an empty shell.
You must encounter excitement
or you create a living hell.
The emptiness can take right over
and change who you are,
an individual that's vacant inside
that will never reach for a star.
And the reaching is the important thing
for it keeps you glowing.
Others will see it in your eyes.
and soon you will be growing
into another version of yourself,
not that empty shell.
Become excited with the act of living
and uncreate that living hell.
